I called to place order and was informed we could no longer place alacarte orders, ie sandwich or other. The manager Areli Gomez stated we could only order full course meals or combo. I asked when this changed and she stated policy. I have placed in past and never a problem. I care for my elder relative and find it a waste of money when she does not like or eat the choices due to her appetite. We always buy a slice a pie in addition to the sandwich. Don't Go If you have Food Allergies!! So we purchased a pie of the month at a charity auction... sounds good right? Apparently, if you are allergic to the ingredients for the pie of the month, Polly's Pies Restaurant & Bakery is so unreasonable and inflexible to swap out a pie for something I can eat!!! They blame everything on their corporate office!! I used to love Polly's but businesses that don't empower their employees to make good, logical business decisions for their loyal customers really have some trouble! First time to Polly's for food have been here plenty of times for pie though. So I usually go to Marie Callender's but the one in Anaheim closed. Came for the Salisbury Steak and Mashed Potatoes with a slice of pie. The steak was excellent good texture the deme glaze sauce was yummy and the sautéed mushrooms were the icing on the cake. The mashed potatoes were above average better than say Denny's but not as good as say Cheesecake Factory but still very good with Brown gravy. The Coconut Cream Pie was good. Nice flakiness in the crust the pie filling was thick and the whip and coconut flakes on top were very good. I've still got MC's CCP ahead by just a tad. Anyways not 5 stars cause the service was a bit slow and was not very busy but I'm sure it could of been an off day. But all things considered very good first time dining experience. read more

Have been going to Polly's for years ;however, something has changed. We went today for breakfast/lunch and the food was terrible. My BLT bacon was so greasy I needed 10 napkins to wipe the grease. Another recommendation to mgmt would be to hire new wait staff. The ones you have do not have any sense of urgency. They walk around like slugs and bring your food out cold. Never again. Terrible Service. Waited a 1/2 hour, which wasn't so bad. Was seated. Ignored first 10 minutes, finally offered us beverages. Was starving & just wanted food. It seemed we were passed up when ready to order for other couples that were just seated. Dunno if they were regulars & got special treatment or I hate to think something against us. I've been coming here for many years. Today service was horrible!! The hostess was very accommodating when we wanted to sit in a certain area. The server walked over and we told him we were ready to order. He then gave us water and said, "just a minute" and walked away to give a to go box to someone. He put in our order and began to talk it up to another server. I noticed alot of time had gone by and our food was sitting on the kitchen counter. Being a type 2 diabetic my blood sugar was plummeting. After our meal, We then asked for two pieces of pie and we were once more waiting around...the server was talking it up with the cooks and laughing. He then put the pies in slowly, still talking and laughing. ..no pie and no check yet. I could see if the place was packed but there were only 4 tables with couples. A new trainee took our phone order (to-go) and accidentally pressed an extra button on the register to add an 18% gratuity. After our driver came back with our order, the manager Jessica caught the mistake and called to inform us about the mistake. It took a couple of days for me to get back to their location, and Jessica had the money ready in an envelope. She also happily authorized the free bakery item which was supposed to come with my Loco Moco dinner, which the order taker had forgotten about. Other than what I mentioned above, our 4 dinners were quite good and both whole pie's were also good. Hawaiian Pie and no sugar added Fresh Peach Pie. This restaurant has very good comfort food and excellent pies. We were there yesterday and my Son actually got a pie in a large glass with a big straw. I had an avocado sandwich with turkey and French fries, which were very good. The server, Edgar, was very kind and considerate. He brought us macadamia coffee, his suggestion, it was very good, loved it!! Edgar was quick with our order and gave us great service. The atmosphere is homey and friendly. Well, do you ever wonder where your grandparents go during the day when they're out for hours on end picking up their medicine and doing their errands? Yeah, it's here. Eating Pie. Talking to the waitress about shit that would bore paint off a wall and getting their weekly meal specials, which range by classic Americana by whatever given day it actually is. While I've never actually eaten one of the dinners or lunches here, I imagine the food is that same old fashion diner style. You're not going to get a fusion food overload. You weren't here for that anyway. What you'll get is consistency. That half chicken and green beans with a side of potato and gravy will taste just the same way it tasted last time you were here. For the elderly, it's good to stay regular in more than one way. What I come here for is what opened this review. The pie. There's really no beating Polly's Pies when it comes to pies and while Marie Calendar is more well known, it's places like this that just stepping into adds a few dashes of nostalgia into the contents of that pie tin. It's worth it to come to this otherwise shell of a strip mall area that looks like it's on the wrong side of the tracks to pull up a spot at the counter and let all of life's problems get washed away with your spoon digging into that deliciously crusted desert goodness. The peach pies are just piled up with peaches twice as tall as the tin and the banana cream pie here is double creamed, so that in itself is amazingly tasty. Listen, I realize cupcakes are the latest craze, but you can't forget about the pies. And while I may not envy the waitresses for the fact that they have to listen to so many greatest generation stories daily, their saints for putting up with that sort of loneliness and are pretty fast to respond. If i had a negative star option i would choose it. Jose torres is the worst manager in the history of managers..never have i been treated with disrespect! I came in last week and had an order to go and was overcharge on items that i wanted and never got the items. I didnt notice until i got home ...i called pollys and the lady said dont worry next meal is on us and i was like okay cool thank you. Today i tried to go in and honor the meal and apparently my name wasnt on the list and they passed me to a manger and the manager insinuated that i was lying and would not honor it. Then i was trying to explain the situation he just wouldnt help and i was getting upset and he couldnt speak with me with respect and then he hung up on me ..i proceeded to calll him back and yelled at him for his rudeness and for the rudeness of the fact that they would overcharge me and not honor the meal. He claimed i wamted the full mean back ($52) worth but i didnt i juat wanted what was owed the 10 but he wouldnt helped. Yes i was emptional and yelling but im pregnant and i told him that but he kept being rude and threaten to hang up a second time. Used to come here for breakfast, the staff is nice and the portions are generous. My only issue is that sometimes the food taste reheated, I'n particular the potatoes. Double damn, I really like this place! This was my second visit and it did not disappoint. I've only ordered breakfast here and both times I ordered The ABC omelet, delicious! Avocado, bacon cheese and green onion. The other people in my party all ordered the Country tater breakfast, a skillet type meal topped with country gravy and eggs cooked to style which looks amazing. This place is excellent, very clean, good service and ambiance. It sort of reminds me of a Baker Square. The pies and bakery items look wonderful and the lunch and dinner menu have some great looking meals. I have to come back for lunch or dinner. I highly recommend and I wish we had a Polly's at home. So IF you get your food while it's still warm, and IF someone comes to take your order, it's going to be good. I really like the food. I'd hate to see this place close. We have been coming to this pollys pies for 20+ years. Very sad to hear they might be closing. NEVER have we ever had a problem with the food and or service. But today sad to say we will NEVER be returning to this location. From the moment my mother and I walked in the hostess named "ANA" was EXTREMELY rude! We asked to see if a booth was available she gave us such an attitude we sat down at the booth she came back around slammed menus and the silverware down and walked away. Ok, I am a senior and I won a $12 gift card for a T hanksgiving pie, so I stopped by Polly's the day before Thanksgiving, picked up the pie, handed the gift card to the cashier. She stated that the card only had $11 dollars on it, I said the envelope clearly said $12 dollars, she said sorry, you only have $11. I asked to speak to the manager, who was behind a different counter, he yelled from his location, sorry, you only have $11. I would have thought for the sake to good business, he would honor the card and give me the pie. But they did not! Now my one and only experience with Polly's is tarnished and they have lost all future business. Not a smart move on the manager's part. Breakfast here was pretty damn good. I came in with co-workers. I ordered the standard breakfast special; scrambled eggs ( fluffy ), sausages (thick and juicy), country potatoes ( onion and bell pepper ) , bakery item of my choosing ( Bran Muffin ) and Coffee. The breakfast was delicious ! The waitress helping us was very attentive. She frequently checked on us , and gave us tea / soda in a TO GO cup to enjoy for the rest of our shift. The restaurant is located in a somewhat abandoned shopping center , however Polly's has a very counrty style feel inside. They have a great bakery counter , and they give you samples of apple cider , and cookies at the entrance. Ive tried their Cinnamon Roll , which are GIGANTIC ! They are a meal in itself and are FABULOUS ! I saw a bag of biscuits on the counter , but have yet to try the buscuits. Those are HUGE as well . You know what they say..."Breakfast is the most important meal of the day." You wake up and ponder where you're going to fill your belly with for that morn. You then flip through your mental yellow pages... will it be Denny's boring Grand Slam or iHops not so impressive pancakes. Then be hold you realize, Polly's Pie has breakfast too. I would had given this establishment a 4 star but the service is really really SLOW. That's not great for a grizzly bear who has been hibernating for the last 8 hours and is now in dire need of food to fill her day. Aside from that how's the food? Food is pretty good. I would drive an extra mile or two just to eat breakfast here when I know I'm not in a hurry. This place has great pies and decent breakfast. I ordered the eggs benedict and it was ok but not spectacular. What I loved was actually their cinnamon roll. The moment you put your fork in it and then the sweetness hits your lips you can't help but close your eyes and relish that one moment. Their belgian waffles are great! I must say, this is a lovely spot to come to for a relaxing breakfast or lunch break. As far as breakfast goes, I've only had their Belgian waffles so far, and it's okay. The syrup is perfection in my book though especially since I don't have a huge sweet tooth. It's not too sweet, but it's not dull either. For lunch, their Zesty Chicken Sandwich is amazing; I absolutely love it! The fries are great as well! I ordered this with a strawberry lemonade, and that was delicious. Thankfully, it doesn't taste so strong of syrup like I have experienced at other restaurants like Red Robin. As for their hearty country chicken fried steak, it's decent. It's awfully unhealthy though, I'll tell you that. With each bite, I saw and felt oozes of grease/oil or whatever it is. It was a bit gross. The mashed potatoes are ok. Since this place mainly caters to the 60+ folks, some of their foods can be quite bland, and the mashed potatoes was not an exception. Just add some ground pepper though, and you're good! Something I think is pretty darn awesome about the country fried steak dish is the generous piece of cornbread it comes with. It's HUGE. It's not some little square of cornbread, and as someone who LOVES cornbread, this was a major plus. Slices of pie are quite generous too. It feels like you're eating 1/3 of a pie or something, so it's rather worth paying $2.99-$3.99 in my opinion! Looking to come back really soon to try out their other lunch and dinner cuisines. The staff is incredibly friendly all-around. They do get ridiculously busy during lunch hours though, so don't be surprised if an employee asks to take your order after someone else already did take your order. Highly recommend! read more

So, I guess the question would be: Why does anyone go to Polly's Pies? Actually, the reason is a simple one. While they have good pie, the rest of it isn't good, nor is it bad, rather, it's just predictable. I can't even call it comfort food, because as I've said, --the food isn't that good. If you think of two steps beyond 1950's cafeteria fare, that's what you get at Polly's. This being said, Polly's is one of those places you hope no one sees you sneaking into because you're just too tired or lazy to find better food. While one can overlook the predictability of the food, and the catering to the dumbing down of the American palate for the sake of convenience, one can't forgive the overall details that is Polly's Pies. This includes, their indifferent service during the lunchtime shift, the feeling that the tables have been wiped down with a dirty rag, and an overall huge question mark when it comes to the general cleanliness of the floors and prep area --all visible when you either go to the restroom, or when you're sitting at the counter. Lastly, there's a concerted effort by all of the wait staff to avoid making eye contact with anyone seated at the counter. No less than 3 waitresses, and 1 busser passed me by during an 8 minute period of time. Finally, the busser asked me what I wanted to drink, to which I replied: "Are you my waitress?" She went to find them --actually it wasn't hard because they congregate in the prep area where they all talk loudly five feet away while ignoring the counter customers. Turns out, there was a squabble over who was watching the counter. #managementfail So I left. I went and had a fantastic lunch in downtown Fullerton, and I suggest you do the same. read more

Polly's is just easy and it rarely disappoints. Comfort food done right. Came in tonight for a quick dinner and received stellar service from the friendly, delightful Nat! Had a hard time deciding between the featured Sloppy Joes, chili or my usual favorite--tuna salad on toast with Back Burner soup. Went for a half sandwich/chili/pie combo and it was perfect on this rainy night. The only less than positive thing was this time (and on our previous visit) I noticed that "old restaurant" smell as we came in the door. May be time to freshen up the paint and carpet or ventilation. We'll be back again--we come here 4-5 times per year--and we'll look for Nat. :) read more

This is the third time I have been here where I have had to place my order multiple times because they have "run out" of chicken pie and other signature Polly items. Today I was finally upset enough to ask to speak to manager and the manager (lisa) came over and was so completely rude to me telling me it was my fault that I came after 8pm to eat dinner and if I want these items that I should come at an earlier time. Not one time did she say oh we are sorry we are out of the items, I have never been treated so terribly at a restaurant by a manager. This will be the last time I will be visiting this Polly's. I've been here for breakfast three times. The food is okay. The cinnamon rolls are the size of your head and terrific. Service has never been anything other than friendly and mostly prompt. Overall, this is a decent place to eat. I'm only giving three stars however, because this place isn't very clean. The restaurant is in a shabby strip mall and looks ancient on the inside. The counters and tables look like they only get wiped with a damp cloth instead of actually washed. The last time I was there, my coffee was served in a cup with lipstick still on it and my fork was covered in dried up food bits. There were also ants on the windowsill. If they don't bother cleaning the things the customers will see, I wonder what their kitchen looks like?? read more

I'm not gonna lie. I come here for one thing and one thing only, the cinnamon roll. Period. Anything after that, is just additional icing to to an already delicious experience. Polly's Pies should seriously consider changing their name to "Polly's Cinnamon Roll"(I'm just kidding, but...), because it's all about the cinnamon roll. What is this "cinnamon roll" that I'm talking about you may ask? (For those who have not yet been to Polly's). Polly's Cinnamon Roll is one the bakery options that comes along with your meal (for select items on the menu). You can get either the cinnamon roll, or a muffin of some sort, or some kinda' toast thingy...sorry, or...I think there might be something else, but I never remember anything other than the cinnamon roll. Now, depending on how busy they are, or how big you party is or a few other factors, your bakery option can arrive to your table really quickly or just a couple minutes before your meal. When it comes to your table, your reaction will be, "WOAH!" because it will be huge and shiny and enticing, and everyone else at you table will be "Ooo-ing and ah-ing along with you (See pic down bellow). Don't be scared. Yes, it huge, but don't let that intimidate you, it's so fluffy and and sweet and cinnamon-ny, and yes, go ahead and add some of that creamy butter that comes along side of it, and go ahead and attack that sucker, but not too fast, because reminder; you still have breakfast coming. And, don't be too surprised, that if other members in your party (who opted for toast or whatever) starts staring at you and your cinnamon roll, wide eyed and drooling too afraid or embarrassed to ask for a bite, because they wanted to chose healthy. And don't be surprised or disgusted with yourself, that if inwardly you've become like a madden ravening wolf, growling and barking at those nearby staring intently at your kill, "MINE MINE!!! Touch it and you die!!". Even if it is the person you love the most. This is all a perfectly normal reaction, and naturally you'll end up sharing...maybe. And, when your meal arrives, you might find yourself unable to finish it. Don't worry, you can take the rest home (just not the eggs, that's always a bad idea to take leftover eggs with you, especially if you are not going home right away,,,and it is 80+ degrees out. Bad idea). Yes, the service is great. Yes, the atmosphere is a cozy as home. Yes, breakfast is always delicious. Yes, the pies are excellent (we get these quite a bit for our church meetings). And price per menu item, easy, but like I said, It's all about the cinnamon roll, the rest is just icing on an already delicious experience. read more

I've always been going to Polly's to takeout pie, but I had a surprisingly good dining experience last night. I came with a couple a friends for some late night munchies. Our server was Jason (I'm pretty sure that's his name; he's some clean-cut pretty good looking white guy ^_-) and he took really great care of all his tables. We had some really decent diner coffee to go with our pie. The price is very reasonable. I'm just giving it four stars because the lunch/dinner menu items are pretty average. Stuff I've tried over the years: Banberry pie - the ole standby. Loving the fresh whipped cream. Best pie crust I've ever had. It knocks the socks off any pie you'd get at Cocos or Marie Callendars. Peach pie, Apple pie - Just the right amount of sweetness and gooeyness paired with that amazing buttery double crust. Great inexpensive place to go for breakfast went on sunday, was a bit busy, had to wait about 20mins for seats A couple of us had the spinach scramble, which was basically scrambled eggs with spinach, sausage and cheese mixed in. It was pretty good, had it with hash browns I usually get their HUGE cinnamon roll to take home with me as my bakery item friend had ABC omelet, which is an avocado, bacon, and cheese omelet. he said it was good as well, with home fried potatoes only knock on place is that since it was really busy, we didn't get coffee refills as promptly as normal....oh well, can't have it all be sure to check out their overstock section by cashier scored 4 buttermilk biscuits and a bran muffin package for 2.50! read more

Love this restaurant. It is truly a local Fullerton place. I have been coming here for years it's the best Pollys around. This is where they bake the bread and make the pies so it always smells so good when you walk in the door. Everybody's really friendly and the food is always good. My 96 year old friend and I used to have breakfast or lunch here every Friday. When it was his birthday the waitress got everyone in the restaurant to sing happy birthday to him.
