This is an old person magnet so of course I go here. I'm not old yet but I know I won't have to change my habits when I get there. I really like the food and service at Pollys, but I won't be back for a while. Here's why. Pollys is lit up like a baseball stadium, way too bright for me. I saw a giant cockroach on the wall next to my table last night. It will be hard to get that out of my head. Service isn't that great. Food isn't bad, but it's not delicious either. Desserts and pies though-- that's a different story and the redeeming factor. Personally, I'll go here to get something sweet or dessert, but not for a meal. Also, if you're a strict vegetarian, be sure to specify no bacon bits on the homestyle potatoes. Technically there's no meat in them, but many do contain "natural flavors" which can be derivative of real bacon. read more

My family and I have been coming here at least once a week for the past few months. The food has always been great and the servers were friendly. But on July 5th, the morning right after these crazy parties, we were brought to our seats in a near empty restaurant...then proceeded to wait 15 minutes without anyone helping us. We were frustrated so we had to go find the server. I ordered an omelette with a strawberry lemonade muffin, but after waiting for another 15 minutes, all I got was strawberry lemonade. NOT a muffin. The server apologized politely and told us that she won't charge us for the lemonade, but proceed to do so and since we didn't check the receipt properly, we had to pay the extra money. BUT WAIT, there is more. My omelette came out cold because the server was standing around talking to her friends. Then, when she finally brought out our food, my father got 2 strips of bacon, when he specifically said he would like sausage! We walked in the restaurant around 11 and didn't get our food until 11:40. Wow read more

I LOVE Polly's. The Yorba Linda location holds very special memories for me, and is a a location that I still enjoy after 20 years. Service is always good, and the food is consistently good. THIS location, however, not so much. This was my first visit here, since it's significantly closer to our new home. The service was super slow, not just for us, but for all the tables around us. We overheard a few tables frustrated at the service or lack thereof. The food came out cold (so you know it sat in the kitchen for a hot minute), and the cinnamon rolls (which are normally light, fluffy, and soooo yummy) were rock hard. Like, it hurt my jaw to chew hard. Most of the time our server, Julio, was nowhere to be found, and the manager was on the floor trying to help out. Honestly it was busy, but not slammed. Most tables were full, but there was no wait to be seated. All in all, not a location I'll go to again. I'll drive the extra few miles to the Yorba Linda location for better service and cinnamon rolls made the way they're supposed to be. UPDATE: Went to the cashier to pay. Catherine asked how everything was. When we mentioned that the service was slow and our food was cold, we got a "Sorry about that" with the most intense eye roll I've ever seen. So, over the weekend, I drove to Fullerton with my parents to visit my grandma and my aunt. We packed up the group of us, which included my uncle, and my 3 cousins (9 total) and headed off to find a place to eat. My aunt is new to the area, and I've never been there, so we decided to go to this little restaurant they have frequented since moving there - Polly's. The hostess was gracious, especially with a full restaurant and an un-announced party of 9 coming in during the busy Sunday Brunch hour. They accommodated us rather quickly, but while we waited we had the chance to sample some of their AWESOME pumpkin apple bread. YUM. We sit down, and Edgar was our server. Cool young kid, and I thought we might be too much for him. He handled our table with a calm, collected head, even when we couldn't get our orders straight and we all wanted substitutions. OY. He was bi-lingual which helped since my aubelita doesn't speak any english. To help him out, I took charge of the table, ordered everything everyone wanted and off he went. Mostly everybody ordered breakfast, and I wish I had too, since the "sourdough burger" I had was bleh at best. Nothing to write home about. I guess I expected something different, but the burger was just a patty with cheese on parmesean sourdough toast. I figured a burger would be on a BUN, but whatever. The sides were ok - mac n' cheese and stuffing. What's cool is that you can order from a variety of side dishes, ranging from fries to veggies. The real gem was the BREAKFASTs. MAN....each one came with a MEGA sized cinnamon roll in addition to everything else. My older cousin got the 3 x 3 x 3... 3 pancakes, 3 sausage, and 3 eggs. HUGE. My aunt got the steak and eggs, with a perfectly done steak, YUM. Dad got an omlette and grandma got the waffle. HOLY CRAP. Wish I'd gone the breakfast route. My mom enjoyed her dinner plate. Macadamia Nut chicken. Looked yummy and she cleaned her plate, so I'm guessing it was a hit. All reasonably priced. Last week the first time I placed an order through doordash from here was really great everything came out perfect . But the second time was not so good the eggs came out really cold like it has been sitting there for a good while. To top it off I order the silly face pancakes which was for my kids and there was no face any fruits nothing just plain cold pancake. Great atmosphere, friendly service, and a lot of food for the money. Add to it the great smells coming from the onsite bakery, and you'll go away with nothing but fond memories! We love this place for breakfast and lunch. Always get the huge fresh made cinnamon roll(s) with our breakfasts. We split one, and take other other one home. I like the chicken fried steak and eggs. My wife likes the fresh veggie omelette. Home fries or hash browns come with the meal. Unless you have a big stomach, you'll be asking for a box to take some of your meal home. We have enough for a second meal. We've also tried the Brea location. Both are equal in all aspects. Visit either and have a good meal! read more

Impromptu lunch with my Dad yesterday and I had the wedge salad with ranch dressing as well as the mushroom burger. It was heavily shrouded swiss cheese and thickly sliced mushrooms. Always great food at a good price and usually speedy!! We go for breakfast usually but sometimes for lunch too. Can't beat fresh baked breads and rolls and other bakery items. Love that they allow coupons and offer tasters while you wait to be seated. Never disappointed. I have to ask for real butter w/ my thick sourdough toast otherwise it comes with a margarine/margarine mix that I don't care for. LOVE the jam. You can even buy a jar to take home. Cinnomon rolls are big enough for a meal and come loaded with sweet icing. Bran muffins are great too. Coaches Oats are made wonderfully and the "healthy nut" breakfast deal is a great value if you like those items. They have flavored creamers too. Love the homemade chips! Avocado and Friends burgers and sandwiches are great for the sprout lover. Tasty burgers & sandwiches and soups. All of the salads I have tried are full of goodness. Oh just remembered a breakfast item for the sweet lover...banana macadamia nut pancakes!! Get them!! If you go for dinner you get hot rolls and margarine spread...ask for real butter!! Everything is tasty and I always leave fat and happy. I think breakfast is a better value but I still eat there at various times of the day. Pies are always spectacular too. I didn't give this place a full 5 stars because I went in there to have a slice of pie with a friend and they said we couldn't eat it there for some reason. The girl in the front insisted we couldn't until another employee overheard and said of course we can eat it in the restaurant. Then this girl comes out with a broken up piece of pie still in a clear to go container. SMH. This isn't in n out, I wanna sit down and enjoy my (unbroken) pie. read more

I'm pretty disappointed because I honestly LOVE Polly's and even worked at Polly's in Los Alamitos so I know my two visits at this location is not what Polly's is all about. I usually eat at the Pollys on main in Santa Ana, such a friendly, feel good, warm and fuzzy place, but this one is on my way to my Mom's house so for two weeks in a row I came to this location and sat at the counter. On my first visit I was completely ignored for at least 10 minutes even though the man sitting a seat away was a regular and was greeted by two employees. I Started to think I was invisible. Finally a server came by and took my order, dropped off the drink and food and didn't return until the end to drop off the check. Today I came in again. I thought, couldn't possibly happen again! I'm a nice person, right? I sat at the counter, same thing. Same regular at the counter, full conversation with two employees, one at a time. This time the wait was only a few minutes when a very nice young man came and greeted me took my order and brought my tea. I believe he was the manager on duty. A server dropped off the food then came by to see if the food was acceptable and never saw him again. When I was finished I went to the register and pay but was never given a check. I wasn't going to say anything but I couldn't help but tell the cashier how I felt ignored two weeks in a row and can't understand why. I will probably never return to this location but will always be a fan of Polly's. The food is excellent but I get friendlier service from my microwave than at the Fullerton location. read more

Very cute homestyle food/restaurant. The Mexican omelette I had was quite good, maybe a few too much peppers almost considering i had the homestyle potatoes too. The jam was really the winner along with the blueberry pancake we shared. FRESH blueberries instead of what people seem to normally use of sugary-fake fruit. Not the best service overall...very slow to take our drinks- long enough to decide on what 4 of us all wanted to eat, then almost 30 mins to get breakfast...does it really take that long to make a bunch of egg plates? Overall decent at least, and very unique pies that we didn't try but may in the future. read more

Polly's. yes it's fun to eat there. like a more country, home cooked feeling compared to denny's or norm's. but what i love MOST about polly's, and what i go there for, is their delicious Banberry pie. a custard pie filling with sliced bananas and strawberries on top with strawberry glaze, and then whipped cream all around the sides. it's beautiful, it's messy, its gloriously delicious! everytime i bring it to a party, everyone is like, WHAT IS THIS AMAZING THING??? its like.. $14 for a pie but worth Every penny. when pies are on sale i buy like 5 of them and give them away to loved friends and family! read more

I have been going to Polly's for many years. Natalie was my server the past two times and went above and beyond in taking care of me. She is very kind and so happy to help. Plus, I love meeting other people named "Nat" :) The prices are very affordable, and I love that I can pick so many different sides and be stuffed, for less than any other restaurant. I've never actually eaten one of Polly's Pies. You will have to look elsewhere for commentary on that front. Let's talk about Polly's breakfast: Om nom nom nom.... so good! From the veggie omelet, to the quiche, to fruit-top pancakes, Polly's is a great place for breakfast. My personal favorite is the Macadamia Nut pancakes. I just about died when I took the first bite of the diabetes-inducing deliciousness that is the Macadamia Nut Pancakes. I also really appreciate that Polly's provides flavored coffee creamers (you have to ask). Most places just carry the standard half-n-half. The service isn't stellar. Yeah, that's all I'm going to say about that. Overall, it's tots good. Get some! read more

Maybe it's because I have sentimental attachments to this place, but I absolutely adore Polly's. It's one of my favorite spots for Sunday brunch. I don't get to see my high school friends often anymore, so anytime we can meet up, we always come here for breakfast and catch up with each other. For me, the service has always been great. The waitresses greet you and they're always ready to re-fill your coffee. I love the homey style of the restaurant - and all the senior citizens - you can tell this is the IT place for the retirement crowd (and then there's me and my friends). Okay, let's break it down. Go there for the breakfast. My go-to would either be the Blueberry Pancake combo (it's huge portions and the pancakes are fluffy and delicious), or any of their egg combos are a great deal too. Nothing is over $10 on their brunch menu, and if you join their email list, you'll get monthly coupons on certain dishes, and they'll usually throw in a free pie. Which brings me to my next important point.... What you really need to order are the pie shakes. Oh, the glorious pie shakes! I don't know whoever came up with the concept of blending an entire slice of pie into a milkshake, but that person is a true genius. My advice: stick to the classes - apple, rhubarb, blueberry are among my favorites - and experience the wondrous blend of the thick, creamy milkshake texture interspersed with bits of flaky, homemade pie crust. Every time I've ordered one, it just reminds me how great it is to be alive (seriously!) And hey, if milkshakes aren't your thing, just order a regular slice of pie. They are just as amazing. Trust me. So please remember, folks, to make this your top pie-ority. read more

Came here for Pi(e) Day 2009. I ordered the banana-strawberry pie which is banana cream pie loaded with strawberries on top. I think it's actually called banberry or something like that.. It was really super delicious and had actual pieces of banana in it, which is always nice. My friend and I also ordered a grilled cheese and fries to split, and it was a damn good grilled cheese, with like a garlicy spread on it, yummm. All I can say about the interior, is holy wallpaper! The overbearing floral wallpaper kind of made me want to die, but I mean it's a diner inside of a strip mall, so it's like I wasn't expecting fancy decor, but I didn't come here to stare at the walls - I came here for the pie!!!!! read more

Diner Fare with Baked Goods Galore! I think the highlight of Pollys Pies is the baked goods. The pies of course are a staple for most. The cookies are above average and the breads are good too. I've eaten a few different meals at Pollys. The breakfast items are your best bet. Pumpkin Oatmeal pancakes or Belgian waffles are pretty decent. The portions are generous for those needing quantity of carbs for their morning meals. The sandwiches and burgers are what most people look for in diner food. Healthy sized protein portions with a variety of sides to choose from. They can be a little greasy, so read the descriptions and choose wisely. I know people who like Pollys coffee, but I find it weak. I'm sure it's because I prefer stronger, full bodied blends and roasts, so take opinion with a grain of salt. All in all, Pollys is above Dennys and IHOP in my book, but I wouldn't make a special trip to go there. If you are in the area and need a warm, filling meal, you could do worse and probably do better. read more

Polly's Fullerton is on par with their other locations. Service here is fast and the servers experienced with the many menu options. Who knew that turkey chili was so good, or that by adding bits of boiled egg to tuna salad you create a great mixture of flavor and taste? I love the fact that they have turkey on the menu as a regular item. The breakfast offerings are diverse enough to satisfy the early morning hunger pains. Polly's is a great diner-style family restaurant big enough to have multiple locations while not being too big to forgo quality over quantity. read more

We've gone here for years and have had some issues in them past, but nothing like what happened today. We ordered a quiche yesterday for an early Easter brunch today. When we went to get it this morning hey couldn't find our order, but the cashier said they had one and brought it out. When we got home it wasn't cooked and took it back. The manager offered no apology and told us she wasn't there yesterday when we placed the order and that they don't do hot food for takeout...what?! We've taken out hot food all the time.
