Be fair, this place has good food. Service is just so so. But i was always fine with it because the pies are awesome! Until last night I went there, I was totally upset and couldn't sleep because I was still so angry with what happened. Just like the other Asian girl's review below, I ordered a Dinner Special that comes with chips and a slice of pie. the lady brought the bill over without giving me a pie and billed me incorrectly. She billed me a regular combo that comes with salad and bread, which she didn't serve. She only brought the sandwich and chips. Then she told me I have to add $1.99 for the pie with "that order", which didn't come with a pie. I told her that's not what i want. She said then i would have to upgrade my meal for $1.99 more. Why the hack in the world i have to pay 1.99 more that's already included in the meal? She offered me a pie special deal for $5.99, as advertised, instead of a slice for $1.99. I looked at the bill, i was billed $7.99, not $5.99. The manager said the waitress made a mistake and the cashier made a mistake by not entering the coupon code for the pie with dine-in special. That made me go back and forth from my seat several time to the cashier because i kept finding errors on the bill i just signed! He printed me a new receipt after they served me the pie i was supposed to get for free, added 1 dollar to the meal and deducted $2 dollars for the pie special, and said I don't owe anything. I said, no, you owe me a dollar! I wasn't planning on tipping because of the mess they made and i got no apologize. My b/f insisted to tip the waitress for they live on the tips. That pissed me even more! Because I tipped a liar and made me an idiot. I went home and compared 2 receipts. The tax on the smaller bill has a higher tax amount! Now, i have to check with my credit card to make sure I am not double-charged! Do I deserve all these? Food is good, Kona chips too greasy and often overcooked and have a bitter taste. Fries is a better option. Side order - Homemade style potato is awesome but too much oil. Breakfast - the breakfast deal with the roll is huge that can feed 2 people. Not excited about the eggs and sausage thing. The pancakes are good. My point is, READ WHAT YOU ARE BILLED FOR! Now, you know what kind of people are working there! Polly's offers a simply menu of very homey, American foods. Now, I am Korean but I live in America (born and raised) which means I eat rice, love kimchi, and enjoy a very well prepared Mac n Cheese. Polly's offers comfort foods at comfort prices. I have been to both the Polly's here and the one Moulton Pkway. Both Polly's are the same. In menu and decoration so this is a combined review on 2 of the same but different restaurants. The staff at Polly's is nice and they will work with you if your meal was unsatisfactory in any way. But, its not only the food, prices, and the staff that makes Polly's a great place... Its the pie. They offer a variety of different pies. And as the season changes so do their pie offerings. Polly's has the usual apple, lemon, and cherry pies but they also have the divine Banberry pie (strawberry and banana creme). And once a year their cold pie case displays the greatest of all great fresh pies: Ollalliberry. So, for a full tummy and a general sense of well being, stop by your local Polly's and have yourself a good home-cooked-feel meal and a slice of pie. I am pretty certain you'll sleep like a baby then. One warning, depending on the location of your Polly's you might find the clientele to be a little less 'diverse' than one would like. The food TASTES good but it's a small kitchen with a huge menu and cooks who may not exactly be paid what their job is worth so we all know what that means in terms of actual quality. The servers are not bad either. In my experience they've been generous with refills. I feel that given the facts of this place this place could afford to reduce most things they sell by 15%. The interior for this particular Pollys is not the best. You will want to visit the Polly's on Main Street in Santa Ana for better interior. It smells like a bakery there. I really love Polly's. Most of their food is home made goodness. But I ordered the Taco Salad today and it did not have avocado and the green onion was cut in chunks instead of a dice like they should. I will not be returning to this Polly's Pies in this lifetime. Friend and I meet for dinner each week before she heads off to a meeting. We walked in and 5:45 and thought it was weird so many people were walking out and the place was nearly empty. Hostess greeted us and then had us standing there while she organized the menus before taking us to a table. She apologized that there were no booths available while they were all empty. We sat down at the table. Looked at our menus and after 10 minutes no one waited on us, brought us water or acknowledged our presence. We walked out. No one asked us why we were leaving, no one seem to notice or care that we were walking out. read more

This is a great coffee shop. They have the best pies period. Fresh fruit pies, and all the regulars. Plus their bakery items are outstanding. Muffins and huge cinnamon rolls. I'd had there pies before but never ate at the restaurant. Didn't even realize it was just don't the street. Well we went for a family Saturday lunch and left very pleased. I had the 3 item combo with half an avocado and friends sandwich on sourdough with wild rice soup and a slice of pie. The sandwich, aaamazing, while the soup needed a little pepper. My girl had Mac and cheese which was super creamy. My hubby loved his burger, the bun tasted like they made it there and his baked beans were perfect. It just simply doesn't get any better than Polly's. The Denver Scramble is amazing. Country potatoes are great and their bakery is so good!!!! Nothing on their menu limits your cravings, they have great side choices for every item you choose. Staff has always been very friendly. I love this place! It's been around forever, and the food and bakery items are fantastic. The customer service however is TERRIBLE. Good luck getting served with a smile or within a reasonable amount of time. The servers are lucky to get 10% gratuity from me because they are slow, don't place orders correctly, and do not serve drinks or take orders within a reasonable amount of time. Wake up servers!!! Serve with a smile and in a timely fashion and I have no problem tipping 20 or even 30% for excellent service. read more

I went to Polly's Pies last night with my family and was definitely happy with my service. This a place we go on almost a weekly basis because we love the food so much! Sometimes it does take some time for the food to come but that's because it like home-style. And it gives us the opportunity to really just enjoy each other's company. But last night our waitress, Talesha (sp?) was phenomenal. She remembered us coming in from another time and gave us such a fantastic greeting and welcome. She tended to every last need and request we had for the night. With such hospitality and kindness, she was such a refreshing person to come across while eating out with my family. On Sunday morning we had a party of 9 that came in for breakfast.  All was going well until it was time to get our food.  Although the restaurant wasn't busy, and neither was our waitress, it took 45 minutes for our food to get to our table after our order was taken.  When it came, everything was cold.  The English muffins didn't arrive until we were all finished eating.  When we asked why the service was so slow, we were told that our server isn't used to serving breakfast!  This was the worst service we have had at Polly's in a long time.  When we spoke to the manager about the poor service, she dismissed us rather rudely, without an apology or a promise to attempt to correct the situation for future diners. read more

I go to Black Bear, sit at the counter, and they treat me wonderfully. I went to Polly's Pies this morning and was appalled by how poorly (and differently) I was treated: first to sit at the counter; last to get everything from place settings to bill. Even the stranger sitting next to me felt bad when the young man behind the counter offered her and her friends place settings; looked at my empty little spot and said nothing. It got worse and isn't worth detailing. I'm happy with how Management handled everything. Unfortunately, I will NEVER spend money at this Polly's Pies. I'll stick with the one in Montebello where they call me "sweetie" and "honey" and they don't know me anymore than the hateful server I had this morning. read more

Love this place. It reminds me of my childhood and all the breakfast places I used to go to back east. Old school country food with artery clogging goodness. Great coffee - they will even put your refill in a to-go cup free of charge. Great food - the Cinnamon Bun French Toast will make you cream your pants. Polly's food quality is well above their coffee-shop type competition. There is an excellent variety of traditional dishes on their menu. Anything in pie crust is sure to be spectacular. If you want a semi-warm microwaved meal out of a can served with stale bread then this is the place for you. Service was non-existant on a relatively slow Friday evening (5:30-6:30pm). When my table was eventually attended to/checked on during the meal the waitress mixed drinks and was completely unaware of the fact that she continually bumped and nudged me and other patrons with her rear. My sister and I had a gift card for Polly's and we tried a different location closer to home. This one is larger inside than the Yorba Linda location but it's where surrounding stores are closed in the shopping center. The serving staff are attentive and accommodating but the tables were a bit dirty and sticky. The clam chowder wasn't very good, rather thin and gritty, I felt I was chewing on sand on a few spoonfuls. My burger and coleslaw was great. read more

I went in on a random (non holiday) weekday in the morning and there was a huge group of 25 folks ahead of me. Naturally, this caused a back up and delays in getting orders ready. What stood out from this situation is that the staff along with their manager really stepping up! They all worked hard and well as a team. They all apologized for the delays (not their fault). I was impressed at their professionalism and wanted to give props to their manager for helping out in taking orders and jumping on registers too. This was my third time here. The first 2 times I went for dinner and had their chicken pot pie. They were both absolutely delicious. This morning I got their biscuits and gravy and could not have been happier. Fresh handmade biscuits and gravy with sausage in it.
