I first went to the Popyseed on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. I had a french onion soup and a turkey, walnut, dried cranberry wrap. The french onion soup was interesting. I think they much make their own croutons from all the different breads. I didnt fininsh my turkey wrap and unfortunately forgot my leftovers. I went again more recently on a Wednesday evening and it was busy. The menu here is very extensive. You kind of need to decide what you are in the mood for and then just read that part of the menu because it is LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. I had the Firecracker Wrap off the specials menu this past week and i liked it alot and would totally have it again. I also had a cup of the beer cheese soup and i was less impressed. The food is good here, but their location needs some work. The tables are not stable at all and the booths are horribly uncomfortable. It is also very very loud and does not make for a relaxing environment. I hope they consider moving to a new location soon, i would go there much more often. read more

Poppyseed is a very nice restaurant, their booths are just wood without cushions and are uncomfortable and their table is on the small side. The chicken finger wrap was amazing, alone the the ravioli but the ravioli is very saucy. the ciabatta was great as well, loaded with onions. The par 5 burger was fantThey do give you a small portion of fries with your meal. The wait was very long, maybe 25 to 30 mins. The service was kinda crappy and our server didnt really check in on us, if we were to get food from here again we would order takeout. I would rate this a 3.5/5 but thats not an option read more

We were in desperate need of food so I turned to Yelp for help and found this place nearby to where we were. There wasn't a wait as it was 2pm on a Saturday afternoon. The waitress provided prompt service. I ordered a beef and vegetable soup and it was great. I wish it came in entree size. My fiancé ordered an EBC blueberry beer and it was excellent. He started with the French onion soup which was just ok. He then got some kind of steak sandwich which had good flavor, but was too light on the steak and so there was just too much bread. For over $13, we expected more. I ordered the beef and vegetable soup/stew (I think) - it was amazing, especially since I was under the weather at the time. I probably could have ordered 5 more of them and just ate that as my entree! I also got a chicken wrap that had dried cranberries and nuts in it. It was excellent, everything was fresh and they press grilled the wrap so it was warm and crispy and the chicken was warm too. It came with some cranberry mayo (I got it on the side) that was very delicious. All in all, it was a decent experience, although it was a little pricey for what we got. We would go back though if we happen to be in the area again. read more

I've eaten here a number of times. The service is fantastic. Everyone has been kind when our toddler has come along. The menu is quite deep with something for everyone. I have been upset twice for the same reason. And, it's really unfortunate. I have twice come on Sundays where their hours say they are open. However, the door is locked and they're closed. I leave upset each time, along with others who arrive before or after me and attempt to open the door to get into the restaurant. It's very frustrating when hours are not accurate, or not being communicated. If this was remedied, I would give this place a 4. However, how can I rate it that way for a lack of basic business sense with regard to hours of operation? read more

Great portions, comfy booths, friendly staff. This is a place to go and try a few item with a friend. Nice pour on the wine, we started with the hummus platter which comes with 2 flavors one that is spicy and excellent flavor without too much heat. Then we had an Alfredo pasta and soup of the day which was French onion - piping hot, so cheesy and delicious. Came here for the first time with my mother and sister for a birthday lunch for me. This is a nice little restaurant that looked closed from the outside because it looked dark I had to call to confirm they were open when I pulled up. Maybe one of those LED Open signs would help them. The waitress didn't particularly stand out as super but she plastered on a smile and did her job. The food was really good between the soups, salads, and wraps that we ate between the three of us. If I'm ever in this area again I would consider eating here but it's 45 minutes from my house. read more

Pleasantly surprise. My only complaint was how big the menu is; it is hard to decide what to get. ( a good problem to have ). I had pasta with chicken and a southwest sauce. I always love coming here. The food is always so fresh and I have not had a bad meal or experience yet! On my most recent visit, I was with my husband who had never been here. It was busy, but we were seated right away. Our server was very attentive and never left our drinks sit empty. I ordered the chicken souvlaki salad and my husband had the angus beef burger. Everything was hot when it arrived (not the salad), and looked great too. It all tasted as good as it looked. I am picky when it comes to souvlaki salads, and they have one of the best! Great service. Place was packed yet food somehow came out instantly. Merina our server was reading our mind. Brought extra plate we needed without having to ask. Checked on us numerous times. A+. The french onion soup was delicious. I had the jerk chicken salad and my mom had the buffalo chicken salad. Very good flavors on both and Both were enormous and will be good for dinner later. If you are Vegan or a Vegetarian this place will have a good selection to choose from besides your standard salads. I had the black bean burger with a side of quinoa salad both delicious. The interior is a bit cramped. Nothing that really wanted me to bring out the Michelin Star. Also I am not I sure if they use organic ingredients. John sent me the link to this unexpected WNY jewel a few days ago, for us to check out one day - So glad that today was the day! Poppyseed is close to the McKinley Mall in the middle of this plaza. Not a huge restaurant, but it's quaint and good for a casual date night, or a night out with some friends or family. They have many options for vegans and vegetarians, and this has already been deemed our new go to spot for good food! We started off with the Black Bean Dip. It came with these fresh made pita chips and they both were topped with shredded cheese. It wasn't bad, and was a good start to the night. John ordered the French Onion Soup with his meal - it looked pretty good. He did say that it was way too much bread but nevertheless was tasty. The service here is fantastic! It was just the right amount of time that our entrees came out. I ordered the Muddy Shoes, which is a homemade spicy black bean burger topped with alfalfa sprouts, tomato, grilled red onion and I added some goat cheese to seal the deal. It comes on this ciabatta roll that is delicious. Not a firm burger like their other meatless burger option, but this was more than what I imagined. It came with a side of quinoa and I ordered a side of fries with some garlic aioli on the side. The portion sizes are great, and I had enough burger and quinoa to bring home. John ordered the Red Pepper Florentine. It's this vegetarian pasta dish that had this smokey sauce that was more than likely made with mana from heaven. It had penne pasta with mushrooms and different veggies - I tried it and my taste buds were asking for another fork full :) Needless to say, we had no room for dessert during this round, but next go 'round we will give it a try amongst other things in the menu! ...and they have a beer and wine bar 5 stars read more

I love the interior of this restaurant. It's so classic with the dark purple walls, black and white photos and wood booths. Their menu is comprehensive with vegetarian options, italian dishes, sandwhiches and wraps. I've been told by several people to try the chicken souvlaki here and I'm sorry I waited so long to try it because it was delicious! The chicken souvlaki was one of the best that I've ever had. Their garlic dill dressing and pita bread is awesome. I also had the french onion soup, which was good. It wasn't my favorite, but it was unique - They use a combination of bread including pumpernickel which adds flavor to the soup that I haven't had before. They advertise a cookie butter tart which looks like a small cookie in the picture, so when we asked the waitress how big the cookie was, she said it was rather small, so we ordered two. She offered us ice cream with it and we accepted. When she came back, it was with two very large sundaes in her hand. Which we were charged $9 a piece for and both my husband and I struggled to finish. Although they were phenomenal, I would appreciate that their advertisement is a picture of the actual dessert, or that their waitress could give us a heads up warning of what we were ordering. We would have been plenty happy with sharing one. Or not ordering it at all because it was NINE DOLLARS. The entire menu was rather pricey, but the food is good and it's a convenient location being right across the street from the Mckinley Mall. read more

When you are looking for something just a bit different - this place might hit the spot perfectly. It isn't fancy - no special suit and tie needed, but a hungry stomach is. The portions are large enough even for the person who just spent the day shopping in the area and the place is comfortable enough to sneak that top button release without anyone noticing! Of course when it's busy it might take a bit longer to be served or seated - it's an enjoyable experience to venture out and grab something different - just don't grab the waiter or waitress - they do tend to frown on that! I had one of the choice burgers and sweet potato fries and not only was it juicy and cooked perfectly - but the SPF were a perfect combo. It's a bit hard to dine together if you have more then a party of four, but we managed to take two booths with our party of 8 and managed quite well. Restrooms were in decent shape and the overall cleanliness of the restaurant was good! read more

This place is A-OK. If you're a vegan, you can get a decent, filling meal, but it's not worth a pilgrimage. Great place to meat up with people from the Southtowns. They can open up the center booths so a group of 8 can sit together. Cute place to have a meal and a good compromise for a group of people. My MIL is a picky eater but loves their chicken salad croissant, and lots of salads for the folks who are into that sort of thing. read more

My husband and I love the food at Poppyseed and we chose them as the caterer for our wedding. We couldn't be happier! Everything was phenomenal and the entire team was great. We had an outdoor wedding under a tent. They delt with the downpour of rain as if it was no big deal. Poppyseed is a decent restaurant with great food and great service. Came here for late lunch (2:30pm) and was surprised to see a number of booths occupied. It annoyed me slightly that we were seated at the last booth, next to the cash register and hallway to the bathrooms... Really? There was so much open seating, I don't know why we always get put in the corner (nobody puts Baby in the corner!!) by the bathrooms... I'm starting to get a complex! Ha! I was not a fan of the physical booth. They are hard wood and have like a ridge/edge/lip on the end of the bench that makes it hard to get in and out without it scraping on the tailbone. Yikes. Would be MUCH improved with cushioning built in. Anyway, the menu has LOTS of choices, but we started out with spinach artichoke dip and it was AMAZING. The dip is probably food processed and has a consistency similar to hummus but with spinach artichoke as the ingredients. It was hot with cheese baked on top. The chips were awesome. Wedges of fried flour tortillas. Crispy and delicious. it was a big portion for 2 people. We ended up taking half home. I ordered the popeye wrap (chicken, feta, tomatoes, olives, spinach wrap). I thought $11 was a lot for a wrap but it was HUGE and was served with really good fries and a side salad. The salad was fresh and delicious but had way too many dry carrot pieces on it. Regardless I loved it. And I took half home! Mom got the club sandwich which was decent, but kind of basic. It was only one layer, cut in half (I'm used to clubs with 2 layers & cut in wedges) so it was more a turkey BLT. Deli turkey. Okay but not amazing. We both had water to drink and the waitress brought us each a small carafe of water with lemon for a refill. A nice touch I thought. Overall a good visit and tasty food. My husband and I had lunch here today. Our server, Laura, was very knowledgeable and accommodating with my gluten free questions. I had the Gorgonzola Sirloin salad and my husband had a special, Soprano Hogie. Both dishes were delicious and plentiful! The sirloin in my salad was tender and the mushrooms were out if this world. I could have eaten a plateful of just those. My husband's hogie was loaded with meat and he really enjoyed the Italian potato salad side. We stopped her on our way through to the southern tier. There was a outdoor eating area on the sidewalk which was nice because of our 3 our drive. I ordered the turkey sandwich on pumpernickel with 1000 island dressing (can't remember the name) it was delicious. It had walnuts, cranberries and Swiss cheese too. My husband ordered a steak sandwich which he approved and my mother in law the tuna Moroccan salad which was HUGE but she liked.
