This was a winner winner (chicken dinner) of a recommendation! As a SSI newbie, I, of course, researched recommended restaurants to hit up while we were in town. Porch was a top contender from everywhere I looked! Our family grabbed some jumbo chicken tenders all the way around and some of us grabbed spicy tenders in addition to the regular ones. Man, they were great! I'd dare say the spicy tenders were better than the original! We sat outside in the shaded turf area and while it was HOT, the beautiful trees around the property kept us shaded and the yard games they have set up outside were the perfect distraction for the kiddos. I love the outdoor atmosphere at Porch! Sitting on the screened in porch feels like you're at a firmed or families house for a meal. You order from the counter then wait for your food to be delivered which was very fast. Thursday's beer is only $4 and they have specials every day of the week. The screened in patio isn't pup friend but there's a few longer tables in the front that are. We order the Big Dark, $13. Enough to split, it came with two thighs and legs, on top of bread with two pickles. It also comes with two sides. I was going to get the Mac and cheese but was persuaded to get the grits since it's one of their signatures. We opted for fries as our second choice. You can order your chicken grilled or fried and any spice you'd like. We got the Nashville style, it definitely had a kick and was crunchy. We stopped by this cool little house converted into a restaurant. Beautiful setting under the trees. We sat outside on the porch. The staff was very friendly. You order inside and they bring it out. There were 4 ways to order the tender - naked, novice, nashville, napalm- my mom got the novice and I got the Nashville and let me tell you, my stomach hurt on second tender and I couldn't finish it. I really wanted to like this place. Finding out the Guy Fieri ate here my expectations were through the roof however this was not it. The actual chicken was bland. If you take away the spice from the breading, the chicken needed flavor. I also found some of the membrane in one of the chicken tenders. The sides were lackluster. Chicken was great- I ordered the Nashville hot, my husband ordered the novice. So tender and juicy. My girls had the naked tenders with fries and corn. All the sides were delicious, I had the Mac and cheese and coleslaw, and maple baked beans - not usually a coleslaw fan but it was so fresh tasting and had a nice peppery flavor. Stuck between a 3 and 4 star review. The food is usually good but there are occasions when the chicken was obviously not seasoned well. They can also be stingy on items like the pimento cheese when you get a sandwich. I don't want to leave hungry after $20 a meal but have at this restaurant. I have visited multiple times but would return more if they adjusted a few things. I've been to Nashville and had Prince's 2X Hot, so I should have trusted my own gut and at least went Nashville hot here. The chicken was well fried otherwise, and had a nice crunch. For my side, I tried the tots with pimento cheese on top. Very good. My dining companion got the grilled shrimp (also novice), and the one I had was nicely grilled. She had the Brussels sprouts, which were super tasty. The service was fast and friendly, but it was pretty warm inside the restaurant. We ate on the porch, because outside was full. This is one of our favorite restaurants on The Island. My 2 favorites are the spinach salad and the shrimp tacos. My niece loves them with the spice and I always have them blackened! The chicken, the catfish all fresh and extremely tasty! A great atmosphere for all seasons! Outside playing corn hole in the spring and summer, on the porch in the fall and inside in the winter when some of our days here can be cold-ish. My review is based on specific food that I tried while traveling through the area. I stopped in Brunswick for an overnight stay, wanted to try something unique to the area and found Porch on Yelp and they delivered. Large menu with quite a diverse line up. Unfortunately due to my Gastric Bypass alot of things are off "my menu" but I stuck with the smaller things and figured it'd be fine. I went with the pimento grilled cheese with collards side. I give this a 1 star, the pimento cheese selection is very sharp, I'm from NC, our pimento cheese is smoother with a little sweet in it, and the collards didn't seem like they were fresh. I also got a side plate with the Maple beans, pimento grits and "magic" cabbage (slaw). The slaw was basic slaw, only thing that set it apart from store bought was it wasn't sweet. The maple beans were ok on flavor, but far from traditional baked beans, too soupy and bug chunks of white onion. I do give a 4 star to the pimento grits, (its odd, I didn't remember ordering them) these were pretty good. Good flavor, a stark contrast to the pimento grilled cheese. I did also get the corn on the cob, a rather poor attempt at street corn. Being from NC, we have a large amount of Mexican food choices and alot of street corn variations. Porch's choice albeit, very fresh sweet style corn, however just butter and parmesan cheese, no lime no mayo no cotijo cheese. Too finish off I got their take on banana pudding. It was supposed to have nilla wafers in it, I didn't find any, it did have banana in it, and vanilla pudding, it was good though. All in all, I won't go here again, just not worth it for what I got. read more

We had dinner at Porch on the last day of our vacation in SSI, and it was my husband's favorite places to eat. The concept is simple - you order inside, and they bring the food to your table when done. We chose to sit at one of their picnic tables outside since we brought our dog with us. My husband had the Big White served Nashville Hot style, with collards and coleslaw. I had the grilled shrimp plate with brussels sprouts and pimento grits. The chicken plate was seriously huge, and my husband loved it. I though the sauce was a tad too sweet, but my sweet-meter is uber-sensitive. The coleslaw was also sweet-style. My husband enjoyed everything. I asked for my shrimp Novice-style, and it didn't taste like it had much seasoning. Regardless, it was good. The pimento grits were spicy and delicious. The brussels sprouts were flash fried, with a touch of honey on them. Even though the honey made them sweet, they were pretty good. The outdoor picnic table area is a great place to eat. There wasn't any music playing, but I expect they have music when it's later in the dinner hour. They have adorable string lights overhanging the picnic area. Service was fast and friendly. Our same server from Palmer's was working at Porch, and she was so nice. His was a great place to end out vacation at SSI! read more

We went on Memorial Day weekend, and the ONLY down side was that they only had one server bringing out food and bussing tables. And if y'all see this and know who it is, that girl needs a bonus or raise. She brought us a whole extra plate because she mayyyy have gotten us the wrong heat level on the chicken we ordered. But she was racing around getting everyone everything incredibly efficiently with seemingly no break. Our food was also delicious and perfectly cooked, just the right amount of heat.
