THE Don P Nitro (DPN) is one incredible pizza. They always have a great taplist of craft beers. Pop in the back for takeout or pizza by the slice! The pizza is generally good, but nothing I would drive out of the way to get besides the DPN. read more

Boyfriend was a huge fan of the ambiance. We both were a huge fan of the food. It was my first time there, not his though. The server was awkward but friendly. Not bad prices at all for what it is. Also the take home pizza boxes are really innovative and awesome, not that that is a selling point (just make sure to notice if you go ;)) Will definitely try to return next time I am in the area! read more

I always have mixed experiences here. I love the pizza by the slice out the back door. Not quite NY but pretty close. But for some reason at tables the pies aren't as tasty. My guess is when they reheat them by the slice it crisps them better. Still good though at the table! I just feel for the price a trip down to Flatbreads in Waitsfield is worth it. There you get organic crusts and almost all farm to table toppings and cheese for the same price. The service varies. Last time in 40 minutes all we got was a beer and a soup and they forgot our app until after the meal was done. At least the comped the app. My favorite app is the brussell sprouts and they have nice craft beer selection that changes. I would give 3.5 stars. read more

A very good option. I got the wings, which were good. It's been a long while since I got their pizza, but from what little I remember I'm a fan of this establishment. Most of their problems (at lunch, at least) seem to be understaffing. Our bartender was also hosting, along with other things. That being said, I'll still give them a 5-star rating because my bartender was very friendly. He also told us there was live music. I'll certainly be back next time I'm in the area. read more

A wrong made right. I joined a friend of mine and her family, which included 5 grandchildren, one just two years old. The waitress was pleasant enough, and took our order fairly quickly. Appetizers were ordered, and the waitress was asked to put those up first, as the young ones were quite hungry. The restaurant was busy at the time we walked in, but within 15 minutes, it had emptied out, and our party made up more than half the patrons in the restaurant. 40 minutes later, there was still no food. Nothing. Not an appetizer, not the garlic bread, nothing. We were told that the kids could not eat off the pizza bar because we were seated in the restaurant. The kids were extremely hungry at this point. Another 10 minutes later, the food arrived. All of it. At once. Four appetizers, two pizzas, and two dinners. Neither dinner was correct. One was a pasta dish, which was rectified fairly easily. Mine was a gluten free dinner. The manager came out, and was able to get me some gluten free pizza. The manager was able to make things right by comping the meal, as apparently there were other issues with the pizzas. I suppose kids crying from hunger did not do much for the other patrons in the restaurant. I think I would possibly go back, as I hear great things about them. I decided to give positive pie another try after not ordering for almost a year due to the fact that the food had really gone down hill and unfortunately it has not improved much. The pizza looked better but I ordered the tofu and black bean burger with the side salad and had to throw away about 60% of my salad. When I opened the container it smelled like a compost pile and the lettuce was black and rotten. I put what was good in my salad spinner and cleaned the slime off it. My tofu black bean burger tasted good but completely fell apart when I was trying to eat it. I did not have any of the pizza but the person that did said it was better then before. I'm back to ordering from another local restaurant. read more

I have to say the worst place to go. The staff were terrible we didn't get are waters till we asked again. Are waitress disappeared and we could order or anything for a half an hour. Then the food were so pricey and not very good. She managed to mess up a sweet tea. When finished we couldn't find are waitress again and asked another one to have a box. And then for an hour we had to wait for are check cause she couldn't be found and didn't know what table we were. We went in at lunch time and got out around dinner. Never go there again. read more

If I lived in the area then I would be in big trouble with pizza this good! We were en route to Montreal and decided to stop in Montpelier for some coffee and just happened to park by Positive Pie. What a great discovery! It smelled so good that we decided to try the pizza and were blown away by the choices. We went with the Moon Shadow. Walnuts and artichoke hearts?? Crazy combo but it was amazingly good. The dough was awesome too. Service was fast and the price was great for the amount of pizza. We liked it so much that we stopped by on the way home and picked up another pizza to eat when we got home and were watching the Bruins game. We were visiting Montpelier and decided to come here for a late lunch. We ordered their poutine (with duck gravy) and a 10" personal cheese pizza. Food was okay, not bad, but nothing special....pretty standard fare. In my opinion, the food was overpriced for the quality of food we received. We took a 15-mile trip for a sunny afternoon visit to Montpelier and had picked Positive Pie as a place to eat with our dog (a well-behaved friendly pooch). At the outside table area we asked a hostess about ordering, and seeing our dog she replied, "I'm sorry, but dogs aren't allowed in our food service area." I guess that means they're "dog friendly" unless you want to actually have your dog with you. We left and will certainly not return. read more

Great service, great pizza! The pizza always tastes great whenever I come here. I definitely recommend the tomato and pesto pizza. Customer service is great and the place had a very professional yet laid back vibe to it. The other dishes are great too but nothing compares to the pizza. There are good times and not-so-good times to go to Positive Pie. My favorite is going for the shows. They often have good bands playing on Friday or Saturday night. The service is friendly and I was flattered to get carded at the door. Their pizza is good but not great. They couldn't cook a burger correctly if their life depended on it. However they do have great beers & cocktails and the bartenders are excellent. read more

Last night we ventured in for some dinner. We sat at the bar and received amazing service and then our dinner arrived. It was amazing. I had the flatbread and he had a personal bacon pizza. Our meals were both delicious. And the portions were big enough that we had left overs and ate them later in our room at the Inn at Montpelier. If you're looking for half decent service don't come here. You get more bang for your buck at a Wendy's. Our waitress was truly something else. We were sat in the back corner, and then blocked in to the point that leaving required other patrons to pick up and move their entire table. Fire hazard. We were told we couldn't have water because they were out of clean water glasses. And when we ordered drinks and they didn't come, the excuse was that "the bartender went MIA." Everyone asked for separate checks, which took 2 attempts and very apparent frustration from our waitress. One of us paid with cash on a $13 bill, paid with a $20 and change was not brought back. Regardless of where you go for a meal, regardless of the cost, and quality of service change should always be brought back. We understood the night was busy but that should not be a problem of the patron. After speaking with the manager, she accommodated is with a gift card. As much as we love this restaurant, the food, and it's vibe, service should always be considered a priority. No matter how understaffed or busy it is. read more

Food takes forever here! Don't even try to have a quick meal here if you are in a hurry. We waited for more than 40 minutes to get a couple of burgers and a salad. I asked for dressing on the side for the salad and of course they forgot about it. The food was ok overall, nothing special, but not bad as well. I think Positive Pie is great to be honest! But the employees are very Distracted and kinda rude. I waited once to pay right around the back counter and it took forever! No one noticed me waiting until 10 minutes later a chef spots me waiting and said "Sorry about that long wait." I could tell from the look on his face he was not sorry. The food takes for ever to cook and bring to the table. The prices are way to high for the pizza and drinks! A pizza slice is 6 dollars a slice! And the pizza was not worth the money! Worst dining experience I think of my life. We were seated, ordered food, then waited over an hour to finally get half of our order which was wrong. Never mind that we wore our coats the entire time because the restaurant was so cold. I had to leave our table and go up to the bar to order drinks because our server ignored us. The Manager politely came over and tried to make it right then disappeared. We never actually got served our dinner and left frustrated and hungry. I'd never recommended this place. I love pizza and have ate pizza all over the globe while traveling on business and personal. Nothing bad to say about this place - good brew on tap and also the smokehouse is my absolute favorite. I will admit - I once drove from Burlington to Montpelier for the absolute sole reason to pickup a smokehouse pizza. I would also like to mention - each Positive Pie has slightly different "house" pies on the menu - the one in Barre has another one of my favorites. Went in the back & ordered a cheese pizza & salad, we looked around for a table & found the only ones available were on the full service side. This was our first time dining here, we had not realized that there were two different types of dining rooms. We were told we couldn't sit in the dining room because we had ordered from the other side. There was one table on the full service side, they were by no means too busy to accommodate their paying customers (us!) So my husband & I, with our two month old were supposed to stand & eat? We spoke with a manager about the confusion, we had wanted full service & to dine in but didn't realize they offered that until after we ordered. Instead of making her customers comfortable, and offering a place to eat the food we had just payed for she told me "I'll allow it this time." Would you feel comfortable sitting down to eat where staff was visibly upset you were there ? Totally unprofessional, unfriendly, and disappointing, we asked for a refund & left. read more

This place is over rated. The service was bad, It took forever to get our food (which was mediocre) and its on the pricey side for a pizza joint. They said they were short on ingredients, many of the options on the menu were unavailable or altered due too this. The pizza we ordered was missing toppings that weren't listed in the things they were out of and they skimped on the toppings that did make it on the pizza. The pizza was excellent, so my apologies to the chef. However, I was truly at a loss for words after we were approached by an extremely rude manager/bartender. A popular band was playing this evening, which we were not aware of. Jjust as we received out appetizers, she walked up to the table and asked if we planned to stay for the band. We replied, "sure", "maybe", not knowing for sure, just enjoying our evening out. She immediately said "then I need $60 from you. NOW. You need to go to the ATM. NOW." and she had ATTITUDE, I mean ATTITUDE. Our friend said that we needed to talk it over and that we needed a minute and she proceeded to stare, roll her eyes, huff-and-puff, then agreed to come back after she went to the other tables. Not only had she interrupted our meal, but she made us feel unwelcome, rushed, and on edge. Discovered this place was right in the heart of Montpelier, where my wife and I were as part of our Vermont vacation. We came in around 4 on a Sunday and it was quiet and we were served by Maddie. My wife had the black bean burger and I the "grill & tap" burger; we both enjoyed our filling entrees. Maddie was very attentive too us - I suppose easy with us being one of two tables she had at the time but much appreciated regardless.
