The chimichurri I was looking forward to was extremely mild in flavor. The fries were cooked nicely though. Our server was friendly but forgetful. She kept forgetting parts of our order and whether she had already done something or not. Was a bit odd. Overall, I won't be making an effort to come back here.

To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. My best friend and I went last night to celebrate Mother's Day, and while we were looking forward to a special evening, the experience fell flat. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive, perhaps a bit too attentive. He came over multiple times to take our order before we were ready, which made the meal feel rushed rather than relaxing. Although we were told the kitchen would pace our courses, everything came out at once. It was clear they were trying to turn the table quickly. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for the service. The lobster tail lacked flavor and tasted frozen, not fresh. The filet mignon was similarly bland. While the sauces were good, they didn't justify the $70 price tag for the dish. Even the broccolini, which the server recommended, was lukewarm and flavorless. The crab cake appetizer was the best par of the meal, but it wasn't hot. The bill was over $300 for two of us! After dinner, we tried to enjoy a drink at the bar, which is beautiful and spacious. But as we looked for a seat, a manager began trailing us, asking if we needed help in a way that felt more intrusive than hospitable. I was excited to try this upscale restaurant in downtown Reading, and the space immediately impresses. The décor is elegant and thoughtfully designed, with a dramatic bar that takes up nearly half the restaurant. We arrived at 5:30 on a Saturday and the room was already buzzing with energy. The highlight of the meal was the Chilean sea bass ($53)--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I paired it with mashed potatoes and the Post salad, both of which were excellent additions. My husband ordered the $99 steak, which was good but didn't quite meet expectations given the premium price. Service was excellent throughout the evening. Our waitress was warm, attentive, and helpful with recommendations, which made the experience feel special. The one challenge was the noise level. The room carries sound easily, and with a large party seated nearby, conversation became difficult at times. Overall, this is clearly a high-end restaurant with beautiful design and strong service. I recently dined at Post 1917 and had an absolutely wonderful experience! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the service was impeccable. Kristin at the bar was a delight, making sure our drinks were perfect and offering fantastic recommendations. Ana also took excellent care of us, ensuring our meal was memorable. The highlight of the evening was the filet mignon. It was cooked to perfection--tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Every bite was a testament to the skill and care put into the preparation. However, the bartender at another place said that it would be the place he would go, and I've learned that the recommendation of a bartender is worth more than any amount of reviews on Yelp. We showed up just at opening, sans reservations, on a Saturday evening (12/7). There was already a line at the door, which is a good sign about the food, but we wondered if we would be able to get a table. The fear was unfounded, as the hostess graciously showed us to a table and dropped menus. Our server, Christina, took our drink order, and was very apologetic that they didn't have onions for Bestie's gibson. No worries - olives work just as well. She came back with our cocktails, recited the specials, and we asked her to give us time to enjoy our drinks; we'd flag her down when we were ready to order. The menu is a great selection of Italian cuisine, balanced with a few standards. We took our time with our cocktails (the martinis were perfect, by the way) and Christina came right over when asked her about wines. She apologized for us not having a wine list, and returned immediately with one (some excellent bottles in their cellar, and a great selection by the glass). Bestie decided right away on the Shrimp Gran Manier [sic], egg-battered shrimp in an orange-flavored sauce, as an appetizer. I fell in love with the Melazana, breaded eggplant with marinara and cheese, covered in a creamy pesto sauce. For entrees, I picked a simple sauteed chicken, covered with prosciutto and cheese, while the rack of lamb caught her fancy. As soon as Christina cleared the empty plates away, she returned immediately with our entrees (which we saw were plated just as she headed to the kitchen area). Bestie's lamb was perfect. She had a choice of two sides, and she picked an herbed polenta and grilled vegetables. I accompanied my chicken with a gratin of potatoes, and sauteed spinach with garlic. We took our obligatory pictures and dug in. Needless to say, there was no conversation while we ate, with the food taking all of our attention. Bestie's lamb was cooked perfectly, with a generous portion, My chicken was flavorful, with the right balance between the sauce and the meat (I have a love/hate relationship with cheese - I like a lot of it, but not when it overpowers what's under it). To finish things off, we ordered coffee and cannolis, something light to balance the richness of the dinner. Both were delicious. When it came time to settle our check, Christina was right over. I ended up getting one of their signature meals for the evening and that was that. Since it was close to 10pm that evening, the music was winding down. I ended up waiting about 20 minutes for my food to arrive. It came in a takeout container with a plastic bag. I would have gotten something at Boston, Logan International Airport, but it was after 8 PM when I arrived and nothing in the terminal was open for me. With that said, I was happy that the Lakeside Tavern was open for anybody and everybody who was wanting to be there. For lunch, dinner, or just hang out and listen to live music with adult beverages. For me, though, I just need dinner after a long day of travel to Boston from Honolulu. I was glad that they were until 10 PM, otherwise I would have took an Uber to see what was around at the time near the hotel that serve food. The overall experience at the lakeside Tavern here in Wakefield, Massachusetts was typically OK, although I was starving and wanted quicker service that night. If you decide to stay at this hotel, consider dining in the Lakeside tavern because it is basically on property. You don't need to go elsewhere for your meals if you don't need to. If you're lazy like me, this restaurant is your best bet if you're staying at the hotel. Definitely recommended if you are one of those people who just don't wanna leave the hotel for some reason if you're staying here at the Lakeside inn in Wakefield Massachusetts. The Lakeside Tavern is located inside the Lakeside Inn in Wakefield, Massachusetts. As soon as you enter the lobby, the entrance to the restaurant is on your left. Can't miss it. It is physically located at 595 North Avenue in Wakefield. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. As far as parking goes, they have a generous and huge parking lot for anybody and everybody who wishes to come here to stay or dine. Or both. Please share the parking spaces with a few other commercial retailers in the vicinity. There is a bank nearby, if you need cash. There is actually public transportation service to and from the hotel into Boston. I did not know this until my most recent trip here and decided to save a little bit of money and ride the local bus service into downtown Boston from Wakefield. It was pretty cool. Don't recommend it if you are traveling in the evening and don't know where you are if you are a tourist. So yes, there is public transportation options to and from the hotel, and they will depend on your original destination, whether it is the Amtrak station or Boston Logan international airport in Boston. And with that said, they have a limited menu, so be prepared for anything they have. The prices here were decent for any restaurant in the area. But if you're desperate and hungry, it's kind of worth it, especially when you're staying at the hotel for the night and you're starving. Which is what my situation was at the time. It was a quick stop for dinner that ended up being something other than quick. But if you like the loud live music to decompress after a nice day of traveling or a hard day at the office, consider coming to the lakeside Tavern for a good meal and to decompress. I'm sure they have alcohol service here, but I did not want to drink so late at night. 3.5 stars for the overall experience, mostly for the slower than normal service. But it is pretty good 5.0 stars for the location, because I was staying here. Support local! C+

i called in to order steak tips at 11:30 am to be ready at 1 pm on tuesday 8/25/26. the woman on…read morethe phone said they don't take advance orders because "we don't know how busy we'll be." so if you've ordered here before, you can't tell if it will take 20 minutes or an hour for your order. i tried to tell her, how am i supposed to know how long it will take? she said they don't know how busy they will be within the next hour. i said okay, i guess i'll call back in a bit, she goes, "alrighty." in what world is "alrighty" an appropriate response for your incompetence at your job? i called back 25 minutes later, and she told me they would be ready in 20 minutes. okay, so you can make them in 20 minutes, lie about how busy you are, but you can't schedule them to be ready for 1 pm when someone calls an hour and a half before? alrighty. this was a special treat for a friend who lives about an hour away now, and i got them their favorite steak tips as a birthday lunch. i was trying to prepare and keep them warm after for at least an hour, they couldn't have been less interested. i asked for no salad and double rice, which they've done before. the same woman claimed that's not possible and that i had to buy an extra side of rice as well for $2.50. so there were double portions of rice plus an extra container of rice that wasn't actually needed or asked for. it was $39 for steak tips with double rice. the staff here really have no idea what customer service is. you don't have to be the nicest person on the planet, but to be rude because you don't have a system to appropriately prepare for customers, as a very popular restaurant, is wild. do better. champions pub is famous all over the north shore for their best steak tips. they are pretty good, but i don't understand how they are "the best." they're pretty good, that's it. everyone who loves champions will yell from the high hills that champions has the best steak tips. they are more "alrighty." it is located in an old, tiny building, not a very welcoming entrance or experience. i've only ordered steak tips from here for takeout a handful of times for other people, and they seem pretty regularly disorganized. when i picked up, there were about a dozen people eating, so it wasn't overly busy, and the staff were just okay in person. i won't be ordering from here again; if anyone wants champions, they can deal with that headache themselves. ambiance: 1/5 food: 4/5 drinks: n/a service: 1.5/5 champions pub: 2/5
