I don't know why or how there are mixed reviews about this place, I loved it! My best friend and I were walking around and found this cute little place during our trip to the Hamptons. We asked to see a menu before committing and they immediately gave us a menu and brought out the specials board. We were seated very quickly and the service was excellent. I got the scallops with wasabi sauce and mashed sweet potatoes along with splitting potato skins for an appetizer. Every single thing I had was excellent. Went with a group of four on a cool breezy summer night, sat outside on front deck with Main Street view. Quiet and quaint night. We had linguini, cod, chicken cutlet parmesan, and a variety of apps. Everything was excellent, not overly salty and still very tasteful. Drinks were cold, and in abundance plus strong. Our server Diego, really was great. I hope this place is taken out in the next hurricane. It all started when my friend and I went for a casual easy brunch on a Saturday at around 1:00. The place had the charm of a fucking funeral home. It looks like someone went into my grandmother's closet, cut up her undergarments, and scattered them about the café. The hostess asked how many we'd be, and once we told her it'd be a table for two, she made a facial expression like her ex husband had just walked in the door. The tables were not even set up to be dined at. Our waitress had a holier-than-thou attitude and looked like the person who would come around with the collection bin at Church. I ordered my $12 pancakes, which took a goddamn hour to arrive, and (not) to my surprise, they tasted like someone had soaked a piece of cardboard in butter and put it on my plate. How the hell does it take 1 hour to make 3 pancakes? The orange juice was served in a wine glass with ICE. WHY? When our food was brought to the table, she pushed our silverware and cups out of the way with the dishes like they were indestructible. Also, what restaurant in 2017, in a vacation town, ONLY TAKES AMERICAN EXPRESS? I tipped 10% and felt like I'd done my wallet an injustice. read more

Ate here two nights ago and both I and my companion agreed the food was horrid. We sat at a lovely table on the front patio but that was all that was good. I ordered pasta with chicken and broccoli. The penne was ok. The chicken was chunks of grizzly white meat encased in some sort of gummy white pasty sauce. Could not eat any. Broccoli was overlooked and very old tasting. From the outside the place appears like it belongs in a western. Everything inside and out is outdated and old looking. At least their food takes care of alot of their positives that I have to say about the place. If ur in the mood of some homecooking, this is the place. While most restaurants rely on over greasing everything to flavor their food. They use techniques and ingredients that most of us use at home, to serve a feel good dish. Went with my wife for a fine romantic dinner. The food was terrible the service was terrible and the place was crowded(not enough eateries in Westhampton) Do NOT waste your time and money as well wasting your taste buds. ***WARNING: IT's 2015 and THIS RESTAURANT DOES NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS OR DEBIT CARDS. AMEX ONLY! AND THEY DON'T LET YOU KNOW UNTIL IT's TOO LATE! The food was ok but the payment bombshell at the end of the meal was a huge detractor. The waitress let us know when she brought the bill. What made it so bad was the owner hovering over our table, not two minutes later, reinforcing that they don't accept credit cards other than Amex. It was embarrassing having to trek about for payment options (one of the nearby ATMs was out of service). I have watched this restaurant deteriorate over the years. My family have been Westhampton Beach residents for decades and this used to be a place to get a decent meal on Main St. That is no longer the case after today . We can start this review off with the waitress who had the personality of a wet mop. She deserved zero tip but I gave her something anyway. She was horrible and looked like she hated her job.In an uncrowded restaurant she managed to take 1 hour to get our order. Appetizers were luke warm at best, main courses came 30-40 minutes later and were flavorless and disappointing to say the least . We even saw people that were seated *after* we came in served their food before us. The pricing is steep for the flavorless food they serve. Avoid this rip off dump at all costs, it used to be decent but never more than that. I will never return to this dump. Never. Restaurant Impossible should be brought in . This place needs to be gutted and start over from scratch. read more

Mediocre at best. Turkey feta spinach burger was eh. Scallops that cost $27 didn't even taste like scallops. I never add salt or pepper to my food but had to add both for some flavor. The atmosphere is adorable. The food is good. The hostess is nice. The bussers remove your plates immediately. The waitress was not very friendly nor personable. The menu doesn't list nonalcoholic beverages, so get ready for your waitress to make you feel like an idiot when you ask what drinks they do have to offer. When she replies "whatever you want" .... don't ask for sweet tea. They don't have it. She will be MIA the entire meal, and won't check on you to see if you need anything or if you even enjoy your meal. Also... MAKE SURE TO BRING CASH! After it takes about 10 minutes to bring a check, and after you hand the waitress your debit card, you will be informed of the ATM around the corner since they "only take American Express or cash." Are you kidding me? I thought this was the Hamptons and we were in the 21st century - clearly, I was misinformed. Maybe tell us BEFORE we sit down about the inconvenience so we can go walk to get cash while we wait for our food.... as opposed to telling us while we are ready to leave to make our other obligations. Ate here last night. Arrived at 7pm, and had to be done by 7:45 at the latest for an 8pm concert up the street (at Westhampton Performing Arts Center). Service was friendly, quick, helpful. Menu was broad enough for the variety of tastes and needs in my 3-person group. Among us, we had, French onion soup, mozzarella sticks, hamburger (medium), salad with goat cheese and walnuts. Portions were ample. There was salad to take home. Burger was a perfect medium and tasty. Onion soup was above average for Long Island in my experience (I'm from Montreal and very picky about onion soup). We ate quickly, we enjoyed, bill was not terrible, and we were out with time to spare. We would definitely go again, before the next concert we attend there! I would highly recommend the post stop. I have been coming here for over 30 years and it is always one of my favorites during the summer. We were there this summer. My wife and I sat at the bar with a friend who was black. While we weren't refused service, we're weren't offered any either. We came to enjoy dinner before a show and realized the bartender, Rob, didn't want to serve us. It was an uncomfortable situation and we decided to leave. This was our first visit to the area and likely our last visit to the Post Stop Cafe. The restaurant is quaint and the food was average. The visit was ruined by an over taxed waitress who, at the end or our meal, brusquely informed us that the cafe only accepted American Express or cash; then very promptly hurried away from our table; I think, possibly, she might have been embarrassed to have to make such a statement. I had to get up from our table to locate the hostess in order to ask where was the closest ATM. I then left my wife sitting by herself in the restaurant as I walked to a corner bank to find an ATM. The Post Stop Cafe is not that good of a restaurant to be able to weather such a restrictive policy and brusque treatment of its clientele. I'm not sure why any restaurant would have such a credit position. My wife thought it was perhaps elitism. I disagreed. I don't carry an AMEX card, expect for my business, for one reason. It's one more additional expense for a card that is not that useful. The card would be easy to acquire. I suspect that the Cafe's restrictive credit position must involve some kind of agreement between AMEX and the Cafe that is financially beneficial to the Cafe. Otherwise, why would an establishment take such a limiting and inconvenient position if it wants to grow clientele rather than shrink it? With some after-the-fact searching at the front desk, I did finally locate a small, dark sign tucked behind a plant noting that the Cafe only took American Express. If the Cafe owners feel that they must continue with this position, they need to get their sign more up-front and visible and also train their staff on appropriate ways to address the issue with the unsuspecting clientele. read more
