I've seen Potbelly All around the Eastside and finally being in the mood for a sandwich I gave it a go. only on occasion am I into sandwiches and subs, but this visit I was in the mood and my impressions are that it isn't that much better than Subway, and I thought that Subway's prices have gotten out of hand leading me to stop going, that's pretty much I how I felt here. I eyed the menu and though they have deals, just like Subway I figured the portions would be small for the amount you pay. I saw on the menu they had a Meatball sub "Mama's meatball" - "Homestyle beef + pork meatballs smothered in marinara sauce, provolone, Italian seasoning." It does not match this description. It was bland and again compared to Subway's meatball marinara was just boring. I even had the sandwich maker add some ranch to give it some zing. No luck. I also had the Chili Mac which I was in the mood for. Interestingly, this was the best part of the visit. "Hearty beef chili with kidney beans, bell peppers and onions topped with our creamy, three-cheese mac" It pretty much delivered all that, decently cheesy and a hot consistent chili. I'd get this alone on an unlikely return visit. The sandwich (default size) and Chili Mac came to almost $21. Way more than it should be to me. For an average meal here, you could probably do better at the local deli in a grocery store, but the shine here was definitely the chili mac bowl/cup. read more

Once I discovered their rewards program, I've been coming here about every other week. It's been solid. If you love hot, toasted sandwiches, this is a must try. You won't be disappointed with anything you get. They pretty much chop up everything and toast it. It makes it easy to eat and just delicious! I've gotten some variety of the following sandwiches. Meatballs (5): Can't go wrong with meatball anything, but the way they do it is pretty good. Instead of large full-sized meatballs, they cut it up so you get some meat in every bite. They still have some large meatballs, but its spread out more evenly. Also, some people would frown at putting lettuce or tomato in their meatball sandwiches, not here. Since they chop everything up, it makes it seem like it was supposed to go in there. Amazing! Turkey and Chicken (5): Again, if you were thinking sliced turkey or large slab of chicken breast, you'd be wrong. Diced chunks of each in every bite so you're not overwhelmed by any sauce, meat, or toppings. I almost feel that they mix everything in a bowl first then put it through the toaster. It's good. Cubano (3.5): Had to call this one out separately since I'm a cubano fan. It was good... and I will likely get it again, but it just didn't have the same satisfaction for me as a true cubano. It was "cubano-esque" or had the likeness and ingredients of a cubano. I feel that all the flavors are there, but it's the potbelly style. So chopped up and toasted. I sort of like my cubano with whole items. Maybe its just me. It was good, just potbelly style. This particular potbelly does a good job. I've only been to this one and the Issaquah one but they're pretty consistent here. There are times where this location gets swamped during lunch time though and I realize its difficult to plan for with random businesses coming in to the office at different times. Just be aware, order early, and don't rush the process. Your tasty sandwich is at stake. Overall, the potbelly sandwich style is a winner in my book. I made an order online just before leaving work, since I can pick it up and take it home. However, they didn't have my order (I might have just ordered for the wrong location or not submitted the order properly). It didn't really matter, because they are pretty quick, and it wasn't busy around 5:30PM. My sandwich was good and hot when I got home. My wife also loved hers. The funny thing about Potbelly is their sandwiches aren't "foot long", but they fill me up just as much (if not more). Unfortunately the staffing at this location needs major improvements. These are some of the grumpiest employees I've ever encountered. I try to order online just so I don't have to interact with them. One time in particular, I was at the register attempting to pay and the cashier was arguing with me about what I ordered. It was sitting right next to her and I said that's my food right there and it's X. Her response was no it's not, and we went back and forth causing a scene. I just wanted to pay and she made it incredibly difficult on top of her being flat out wrong even though it was literally staring her in the face. I'm baffled every time I see her in there working the register because she has zero customer service skills, but there don't seem to be better options working there. Today I went in after placing an online order and had earned a free cookie through the rewards. The grumpy guy "helping" me more or less blamed me and the system that the cookie wasn't included, but he eventually caved and allowed me to take the cookie. They have a rewards program and more importatnly you can order from the app and skip the line during the lunch rush. My favorite sandwich is the turkey on white bread with all the fixins! You can actually park in the Bellevue towers garage, and then have your parking validated with your order. Inside there was quite a strong "Seattle-ish" vibe with all the decorations and the solo musician performing. I ordered the grilled chicken and cheddar sandwich. As the sandwich was getting prepared, the guy there started a conversation with us. He was very friendly and made us feel welcomed. The sandwich itself was pretty good. I finished it up pretty quickly, and ended up wanting to get another one, but decided against it. It's definitely a decent value for it's quality. Upon coming here from LA and arriving on a weekend, it was a little difficult for me to find this place. This place is located on the bottle of a corporate like building. Parking structure seems to be closed on weekends. At least theres was a B of A parking lot as well as street parking and a CPK lot parking one block away. (Oh, I and think I saw a farmers market up the street while waiting). I always appreciate a well made sandwich and Potbelly doesn't disappoint. How many people does it take to make a sandwich at Potbelly? Um...I think two? A couple days ago, I jog walked over to Potbelly for an off site lunch. There are plenty of sandwich options in downtown Bellevue like Subway, Quiznos, Specialty's and Jimmy John's which are just the chain ones. There are numerous more. It is a crowded field, but there is room for Potbelly. Potbelly is located in Bellevue Towers which is in that same building that Barrio formerly was located in. There is parking in the building if you are coming here specifically to eat at Potbelly. You just need to get validation. Though this place seems more tailored to the work crowd. The restaurant has a little bit of a quirky feel to it. I mean, have you seen live music being offered at a chain sandwich place? I think this is cool as it helps to differentiate Potbelly a little bit from their competition. Sandwich prices are pretty reasonable at $5.00 or less for a standard version. They also have salads, soups, chili, smoothies, shakes and a handful of small sweets. I tried the A Wreck (as in I feel like a wreck) sandwich ($5.00), which is fitting because that is how I would describe the ordering process. It is not as confusing as ordering a burger at Five Guys, but a bit more difficult than it needs to be. The main problem being that there are too many people in the sandwich making process. Being that it was my first time visiting, it was difficult determining who to provide my sandwich order to. Once I did and the process was started, the main sandwich ingredients would be piled on and go through an moving oven to toast. On the other end, another person would take over the process who will then ask you what you want on your sandwich. Again, it was confusing on who was handling this next step due to there being so many people working on the sandwich line. Since I could not see what toppings are available, I did the simplest thing which was to ask for everything. I kind of wish the sandwich making process here was more like Subway or Chipotle. I think that Potbelly really is like those places, but the design layout makes it seem like it is not. As for the sandwich itself, it was delicious. The A Wreck has salami, roast beef, turkey, ham and Swiss cheese which is a great combination. Though I was not expecting carrots and peppers in the sandwich. And yet it works. The carrots add a crunchy element and the peppers provide a pickle taste to the sandwich. And the regular white bread is an awesome base. As an afternoon snack, I did also get the dream bar ($1.40) which is a nutty crumbly type goodie. A nice late afternoon treat to get me through hump day. In closing, I liked the food at Potbelly. I really really wanted to like it here. I lined up for 20 minutes on opening lunch day - i was so eager that I came in the morning hoping for breakfast. I ordered a Thin Cut Italian sandwich. I didn't mind the lineup. A staff member with a wireless tablet came through the line taking our orders, which was nicely efficient. The decor was fun too - meticulously haphazard is the great phrase that comes to mind. At the end of the day it's about the food, and the sandwich was quite disappointing. Although I like the flavour of the meat, the bread was not crispy enough for a toasted sandwich. I'd still take Jimmy John's over this. I'm disappointed but I'd like to give it another chance. I'd go back JUST for the peppers on the sandwich. I mean, really.. a turkey sandwich is turkey, cheese, some spread (mayo and dijon mustard), and veggies. These peppers take it to the next level- delightly hot and crunchy, they added pizazz in every bite. I also like that the portion size isn't crazy. There wasn't an option for a half sandwich, which had me thinking that I'd be taking half of it back home for a snack later. Nope- either was I super starving or it was the perfect size for me!
