Delicious, and this place blew my mind when I tried it out. First off, very surprised at all the flavors you can get and try, including horchata, Thai tea, and ube! To be honest, when I came here, I did not expect much. I typically am not the type to get snow or anything icy, since it is not the first thing that comes to my mind when it comes to dessert, but I am so glad I got to experience this. When I came on a Wednesday night, it was not too busy, and my friend and I were able to get our food within 10 minutes. The spot itself is pretty small, with not a lot of seating, but some limited spots outside.

it's one of the better croffles that I've had!). I really enjoyed my shave ice, especially the azuki topping which went so well with the chocolate flavor and balanced out the sweetness of the shave ice. I would say that it's more of a normal chocolate flavor than a mexican chocolate, and it was a little more dense than I expected a shave ice to be, but overall I really liked it and would definitely come back!

Powder is a small shop with tons of shaved ice cream flavor and topping options. Note that there isn't really indoor seating and some limited outdoor seating so you'll likely be taking this to go! We got mango and Mexican chocolate and both were tasty, but for me both (especially the Mexican chocolate) were too sweet which made the flavor tiring to get through. I think if I went back I'd try a fruit flavor instead. I think it's worth another try and I may go back sometime to try a different flavor.

A very accurately named store! Can't go wrong with shaved ice for dessert, no matter the weather. They have so many flavor options that literally cover an entire wall, with a plethora of toppings too! All of their flavors sounded good, and I wish I could sample all of them. I ended up going with the Valencia in a regular size so I could avoid decision anxiety; this was a preset bowl of horchata shaved ice with different toppings that was exactly what I was craving. My friend got the other preset option, Cereal Killer, which tasted just like fruity pebbles ice cream as promised. It looks like a lot when first presented to you (like so high and so fluffy), but as you eat it, the toppings start making the ice sink lol. A more manageable portion size after that :) Their shop is small with not much waiting room besides a bench against the window, and I think most people go to their outside tables to eat their shaved ice. Not super ideal for cold windy evenings like when we went, and we huddled in my car to finish them. Definitely mind any shaved ice that might topple over the edge when you first dive in since they pack it real tight. Worth your moola! I will absolutely come back to try other flavors and still order a regular just for myself :)

I am VERY particular with my shaved ice and bingsoo, and honestly this place surpassed all expectations. I love when places have FLAVORED ice, not just regular ice and add syrup. I knew this place was the real deal from the yelp pictures and I'm so glad I came here for dessert. It was so hard choosing a base flavor, but opted for the strawberry with passion fruit glaze and oh my god this was life changing. The texture of the ice itself was light, airy, and not too sweet, which is perfect for me. The passion fruit glaze added that depth of fruity flavor and honestly this large size was more than enough to share with 2 people. Parking: it's hard to find around the area, so good luck. The shop itself is small and you can't really eat inside but they have tables outside you can enjoy. I will be back for more and bring some friends to check it out!!

I came across powder on a TikTok video, and I'm so happy that I did. This is a very small store with the only seating being the ledge of the window and outdoor seatings. We got a large with Thai tea and guava, with strawberry, condense milk, and mochi for $13. The portion was huge, which is great but it was so messy to eat. We wouldn't finish it with two people. This portion can probably feed 3-4. Hopefully they come out with larger bowls that can hold the amount of snow there is. Both flavors were great, but I personally like the guava a lot more. I also like the texture a lot, as you can chew it or let it melt in your mouth. Will definitely be back when I'm in town!

Came by on a Wednesday and this little hole-in-the-wall shop is so adorable. There's a small bench inside for seating but otherwise there are also a few tables out front! I got the pina colada flavor with passionfruit drizzle and my friend got the guava with sprinkles. We both got kid sizes which costs $6 and the toppings are either $0.75 or $1.25 depending on which one you get. The pina colada flavor was not too sweet, and refreshing. The texture of the shaved ice is amazing. It's so fluffy, smooth, and completely melts in your mouth with ease. No ice crystals are anything! Probably one of the best shaved ice textures I've tried thus far! The passionfruit drizzle had a nice tartness though I am not sure it was worth the $1.25 and it was a bit too tart to pair with the pina colada in my opinion. I tried some of my friend's guava and it was superb as well. More dairy flavor since it wasn't a vegan flavor like the pina colada so it was a bit more rich which is nice. I like that there are non-dairy options and would love to come back and try the other flavors!

Stopped by on a Saturday evening and it wasn't busy. I got a regular size of the Cereal Killer which was cereal snow topped with sweet milk glaze and fruity pebbles. I loved this so much, it had such a fantastic texture of being creamy but also light and fluffy. Probably one of the best shaved snow texture I've had. Tried some of the matcha snow and earl grey snow as well, and both of them were solid too. My favorite was still the cereal snow because I have more of a sweet tooth and the matcha and earl grey were less sweet. I would absolutely return to try more snow flavors! Service was really friendly and our 3 bowls were ready within a few minutes. Only one small bench inside and some outdoor seating.

The texture of the snow is so soft & all of their flavors are amazing - none of them taste artificial. Their cereal killer special is the best! Service is always quick. I've been wanting to try Powder for a while now and finally got the chance when I was craving something sweet after dinner. We stopped by and got a large shaved ice to share - with the large you can opt for 2 flavors for $1 more. We chose the Black Sesame and Mexican Chocolate with fresh strawberries and mochi as toppings. This really hit the spot! The flavors were deliciously and really punchy. The Black Sesame was nice and nutty and the Mexican Chocolate had a nice spice to it with cinnamon. The shaved ice itself is creamy and rich without feeling heavy and the fresh toppings really made it a great sweet treat and doesn't feel quite as indulgent as the standard ice cream. Will definitely be back to try the other flavors!

Super mall store but service is quick! There's 3 sizes, and the kids size alone was enough for me. The guava was refreshing and I would come back to try the passion fruit! There's topping you can add on for a little extra, I would recommend mochis. Check this place out after shopping around Haight!

Hard to find shave snow places here compared to LA but this one is a gem. I loved the strawberry flavored one. Limited flavors but when I'm feeling something cold but light this is where I go. I like to tell my friends who haven't had shaved snow it's like the cotton candy of ice cream - light and airy but still a touch creamy. read more

Saw a video on Facebook for this place. The ice cream was so light and fluffy, the staff was very friendly, everything was reasonably priced! Highly recommend if you visit San Francisco any time of year. This was worth the hour and a half drive from Sacramento for me! read more

I got my first taste of Powder a few months ago and I haven't looked back! It is by far my FAVORITE dessert. I am a frozen dessert fiend, and Powder tops even my daily ice cream because its so light and fluffy yet satisfies the craving of ice cream. It actually has the consistency of light, freshly fallen snow. And the flavors are so unique and delicious. I personally love horchata - which is a light vanilla/cinnamon flavor. Another favorite is a founder's special - you can get Black Sesame with Berry Sauce - like a frozen PB&J! read more

This spot has a really unique product. It's lighter than ice cream and more refreshing. The location of the store is solid as well as its near restaurants on Divis and shops on Haight. My go to spot to grab some dessert. Highly recommend. read more

Going in I thought this would be another average dessert place with the same old flavors. Then I saw Ube, Horchata, and Vietnamese Iced Coffee. The Vietnamese Iced Coffee was a pleasant surprise. It's not watery and super condensed in flavor like I expected. It was bold, rich, and even creamy with just my plain old mochi toppings. Would definitely come here again when I'm in town! read more

I can't believe I've been missing out on this product! A friend insisted I stop by the Powder tent at Off the Grid Presidio Picnic and let me tell you, I owe that friend big time. The fluffy/airy texture transforms into a creamy ice-cream like experience to die for. Plus, it's half the calories of ice cream!! The strawberry was my favorite with black sesame as a close second. I went to Off the Grid a couple of weeks ago and tried Powder for the first time: loved it. I have been back for more twice since that day: the shaved ice cream is a modern interpretation of the taiwanese version with unique flavors (Black Sesame, Horchata, Vietnamese Ice Coffee) but with a very light and fluffy texture. The black sesame is delicious and I would definitely recommend it anytime. read more

I pretty much live for dessert and this is perhaps my favorite spot in SF for it. The flavors are always on point, it's sweet but not cloying, surprisingly light, and knocks it out of the park with solid seasonal options. Can't recommended enough. read more

Came here post dinner on a drizzling weekday and they still managed to have a short line that grew pretty long by the time I got my fix. I got the strawberry flavored powder with mochi. I'm absolutely in love with the consistency of the powder. For those of you who are shaved ice fanatics, this shaved ice is more of a shaved snow than ice. Really soft and powdery melt in your mouth goodness. Would definitely come back :) read more

CATERING REVIEW: Mimi and team catered our wedding over Memorial Day weekend of this year, and our guests were thrilled to have something original, tasty and fun at our wedding! We set up a bar with a few flavors + toppings, and the black sesame flavor was so in demand that we ran out before the night was over :) I highly recommend working with the Powder team to bring a more unique dessert option for your event -- not only is their shaved snow delicious (which you can already tell from their stellar yelp reviews), but Mimi and team could not be easier to work with as we were planning our wedding. All of our communications were a breeze, and the Powder team was able to work directly with our day of coordinator to figure out load in and set up without us having to worry about a thing. I highly recommend not only stopping by their spot on Divis as much as possible for some delicious shaved snow, but to bring on the Powder team for your next event! Interesting concept, but it's not "the future", as I overheard one customer exclaim. It's like eating snow - deliciously and creatively flavored snow, with fat and sugar and all, but still snow, and it just doesn't compare to the smooth decadence of most other frozen desserts. I'm glad I tried it, and the black sesame flavor is admittedly a bit mind-blowing (very nutty and delicious), but if I walk down this street 100 more times wanting dessert, I'll get ice cream every single time, especially when some of the city's best is just a few doors down. read more

The vibe here was really nice and simple, was a cute shop that my friend recommended! I got the strawberry with mochi and I feel the flavors were really authentic! especially the cookie which added a nice crunch. the only downside was that it was a bit pricey (toppings were 50 cents each!) and didn't fully satisfy me because of the light airy texture! The moment it touches your tongue, it melts into a liquid. people were super friendly and helpful! overall 4/5 read more

Powder is magical! Unlike ice cream or froyo, I don't feel like a beached whale after attacking a large serving... or two! I love the wide variety of flavors and trying different combos, and the presentation is always beautiful. Super friendly staff and an awesome owner who's regularly in shop. Talk about a slice of heaven!! This place is so good and would be a weekend staple if I lived in SF. It is really light and flavorful. You don't feel stuffed or guilty like you can after eating ice cream! They have a great outdoor seating area. I came with my daughter in a stroller and the servers were so sweet, they brought my powder to me which was a surprise but just shows how thoughtful they are. Just an all around delight! read more

If you haven't tried shaved snow before, you are definitely missing out! Powder shaved snow is one of my favorite places to get dessert. They only have 8 flavors but many toppings to choose from, and honestly, the horchata flavor is the only one I need. It tastes better than some horchata drinks that you get in the Mission. Always a good experience when I go to powder! read more

Powder is a great option if you want a dairy-based dessert without the richness and heaviness of ice cream. There are two size options of several flavors that seem to always be on the menu with at least one rotating flavor. Toppings are an additional $0.50 charge, but you do get a waffle cookie included. The price is pretty comparable to boutique ice cream shops. Powder is a great choice by its own merits, but is also a great choice if you're looking for an ice cream alternative. read more

The snow has a perfect flavor and texture. I got the cereal milk flavor (it might be seasonal) and it was delicious. It actually reminded me of my favorite part of eating cereal, the leftover milk, except with a light fluffy texture. The mochi was delicious. I also tried the strawberry and Vietnamese coffee, which were both delicious as well. The shop is kinda small so on a busy day it's full and crowded which makes it difficult to wait for your food and eat. read more

By far one of the best desert experiences I've had in SF. I love ice cream, but really like the lighter taste of Taiwanese shaved ice not to mention all the great toppings that really compliment the variety of flavor options. A must try for anyone with a sweet tooth! read more

Great addition to the Divisadero corridor. Powder is the new brick and mortar location of a popular Off the Grid dessert stand. They serve Taiwanese shave ice, which is a frozen treat that has layers of thinly shaved, fluffy dairy based ice. The result is a creamy but light dessert that is a great alternative to heavier ice cream. They have a couple of specials plus choose-your-own toppings and flavors. I highly recommend the Don (black sesame fluff, sweet milk, mochi, and toasted coconut). Enjoy your dessert in the parklet right outside of the store. read more

The shop is always packed, but they have completely eliminated customer service by forcing everyone to order through a kiosk. Worse, the soft serve isn't as good as it used to be. The matcha flavor was incredibly weak, and the black sesame was way too grainy, weak and lacked any depth. The biggest issue was a major hygiene and professionalism fail. Despite using order numbers, the employee at the counter ignored them and handed my ice cream to two other customers. When they realized the mistake and said it wasn't theirs, the employee just took the ice cream back and handed it right to me--with zero apology. Passing along food that other people have already handled is completely unhygienic. Japantown has way too many amazing dessert spots to waste your time and money here. I won't be back.

I just wish the crepe skin itself was a bit crispier. I requested it but I don't think their method of making the crepe makes it possible. At $12 plus tax it felt like a fun indulgence and a sweet way to end the evening.

I really like their giant ice cream figurine outside. The first time I visited, I tried their dark chocolate sorbet and mascarpone gelato. This combination was absolutely HEAVENLY. The chocolate was rich and not too sweet, and the mascarpone tasted exactly like a tiramisu. I am always amazed by how they can get chocolate sorbet to taste just as good as chocolate gelato, as there isn't any milk. The second time, I tried their matcha blackberry ice cream and strawberry sorbet. The matcha was smooth and strong, and paired beautifully with the two summer flavors. The strawberry sorbet is limited to only a few weeks and it's so, so good, like summer in a cup!! This is one of my fave spots in the city for classic flavors with perfect execution. I can't wait to try their coffee and pistachio flavors!

My favorite being their award-winning Cubano croissant, their black sesame kouign amann, and their choux pastries. I do want to call out how much I appreciate the amount of savory pastries they have since I don't always want a sweet treat the moment I wake up. To note, Juniper is typically busy, but I have never waited in line for more than 10 minutes, even on weekends. They also have a lot of tables for seating, but because of the flow of people, it might be difficult to find a spot. Stop by here if you're around the area! They are also a sister shop of Saint Frank, so you can get some coffee while you're here as well.

Upon entering the coffee shop, you'll see a good amount of seating, but for the times we have gone, the majority of the seats are taken. It is definitely a variety of people socializing, working, reading books, or just hanging out. Parking is metered or street parking, and we haven't had any issue finding parking! It's also in an area where you can shop around (across the street) if you want to grab a bite as well. Our go to orders include the Mocha Dream Espresso Cloud and the Nitro Mango, but we have also gotten the Hojicha Cloud, which is amazing as well. We love the thickness and flavors of the cold foams - you cannot go wrong with any of the cloud drinks. As popular as this place has become, it truly is worth the trip! I had came here a few days ago, almost a week ago and I ordered a cereal killer, it was absolutely amazing! I loved the consistency of the snow and the sweet milk glaze along with the crunch of fruity pebbles was outstanding. The service was great, there were 2 girls working who were very sweet and respectful and an older lady with them. Although, I would give it 3 stars because the lady who was working with the girls was not really nice to them. I'm assuming she's the manager and I couldn't help but listen to their conversation because she was getting frustrated at one of the girls for a small fixable mistake. She raised her voice and had an attitude. It caught other customers attention and how I know is because I heard one of them whisper to their partner, "Why is she getting so mad at her." I couldn't help but ask the girl if she was okay because she looked so embarrassed and was about to cry. I told her, hey everyone makes mistakes and it's okay to do so. I felt so bad and wanted to speak to the lady about it because those girls do not deserve to get treated like that. They aren't perfect and neither are we, we make mistakes but that doesn't give you the right to treat them poorly just because they don't meet your satisfaction. If there is one word to describe the texture of the snow ice that you'll have at Powder, it is, in fact, powder-esque. Literally, once you put a scoop of this deliciously sweet powder in your mouth, the ice flakes instantly melt and sooth your tongue. The flavors then mesh and travel across your tongue and gives off the tingling sensation of how good this stuff is. I have had shaved ice that was not flakey at all. As a matter a fact, sometimes, I have had chunks of ice in the middle of my snow. I have to say my favorite is the green tea with the mochi and condensed milk, which is the classic. But Powder does change it up once in a while to keep up with the seasons. Sometimes they have pumpkin, strawberry, sesame and Vietnamese Coffee! Overall, there is not a long line, but for a small cup that amounts to $7 out the door, it can get a bit price for what really boils down to flavored water. Good flavored water! Powder is ok. Shaved ice/bingsoo which is different from ice cream. Remember these desserts are ice infused with flavor. With that, Powder is ok. We ordered 3 different ice and the only one with flavor was the black sesame. The Thai tea barely had flavor and as did the ube. If the ube shaved ice didn't have the shavings and red bean, it would have been a total bust. It wasn't crowded for 9:30pm on a Thursday night when we walked in. After placing our order the desserts came out quick! There is a small curbside area for seating but the evening was cold and sitting outside with the light fog/mist wasn't appealing so we ate in the car. read more

We went to Powder recently for a quick dessert stop and it was pretty great. We opted to order a large size and chose Thai tea and Earl grey for the flavors. We also opted to add toasted marshmallows and mochi as toppings. I'd say customer service was good, despite the shop only having 1 person working. They have seating outdoors and a small bench indoors. While the shop is cramped and on the small side, we were happy with the shaved snow and would return. SERVICE COMPLAINT: I love powder!! I go here pretty often but 8/10 times im served by this RUDE ASS EYELASH lady. I don't write yelp reviews and when I do have a bad experience w staff, i normally give them the benefit of the doubt but if it happens 8/10 times w the same person then its just a personality issue. Great shaved ice. i am not much of a big fanb of shaved ice I basiclally went there for her.They had a wide variety of flavours to choose from . I stuck to basic mango and passion fruit. The only issue was the flavour finished readlly fast and all i was left at the end was plain Ice. I dont know if i ate it too fast or if thats how shaved ice has to be but that was my opinion! Powder been my quick local ice cream run when I'm in the area. I love the different seasonal favorite and the vegan options. My favorite is the Mexican chocolate shaved snow topped. There's no option to sit in so it's a take out place and it does get pretty busy fast on the weekends. Enjoyed my time there. read more
