We did not expect the restaurant is so dated and simple when we walked in. We were greeted promptly to be seated. Two pages menu and we ordered three dishes. The free range chicken and chicken fat rice are delicious. The one person portion chicken only has the chicken breast (white meat). I can image the chicken thigh would be even more flavourful. The roti with curry beef is the best dish. Insanely tasty. The prawn fried noodles are quite salty. They have many takeout orders and too busy to refill our tea/water. If you are looking for tasty food and don't care much about the service, atmosphere and ambience, this is the place!

Maybe I'm biased but this is the best hainan chicken rice place I've ever had so far. WE DONT HAVE THIS TYPE OF HAINAN CHICKEN IN CALIFORNIA!! We don't even have decent roti.. like savoy, cluck 2 go, side chick, green zone, red kitchen, Ipoh kopatiam and many other places in sgv have no competition with this Hainan chicken. It's not even close.. The chicken itself was so dam tender.. soaked in sweet soy sauce + mixture of sesame oil. The green onion sauce and sweet & sour sauce was okay but the dam Hainan rice and roti were really spot on too.. rice was cooked perfectl. Fluffy, every grain separated, seasoned well. Roti was hella crispy and airy(I should've gotten it with the curry sauce). The service is your typically Chinese restaurant lmao but the food was good.

First time at Prata Man. Ordered takeaway via google. Don't. Upcharge and service fees that wasn't mentioned. Just call them, they will update you on what's available and what's not ( I wanted free range chicken and they sold out already when I paid for Free Range on the App) They close at 8pm most days. I rolled in for pickup at 730pm. Ordered Half Chicken (came with rice), fish balls with fish maw in curry, soup and another order of rice (my mistake). Focusing on the food. Half chicken was done well. I like how there is a bit of brine to keep the chicken moist. Overall mild tasting and fresh. Overall, if when eating Haianese Style, one must order free range. It's a texture thing and more authentic*. Sauce: I really enjoyed the vinegar red chilli sauce. The green onion ginger sauce was done great too Ginger "Lai Tong" I like how this was an add on to round the meal. It's light and pairs nicely with the meal Curry Fish Balls and Fish Maw I like the texture and chosen density/quality of the fish maw. The fish ball is ok. The curry is broth like and too light for my preference. I'd give Prata Man another go. It was a packed house when picking up. Staff feels passionate about their craft and they speak Cantonese too.

First time here - ordered the full order of Free range Hainanese chicken- It was meant to come with 5 bowls of rice - however there was only three of us - service team didn't bother asking us if we wanted the other two bowls as advertised. It also came with bowls of soup - you would assume it was some sort of chicken soup? - but i wasn't able to determine if it was because it was so heavily peppered that it tasted spicy. The chicken was moist , soft and tasted pretty fresh - seemed like a fair size - but not entirely sure if it would actually feed a party of 5 as we left the plate empty as a party of 3. The rice was fine for the other party members , however it tasted underwhelming for myself - could be seasoned better - The onion sauce didn't do much for me - seemed like just oil to make the chicken smoother - but didn't actually provide a flavor/taste enhancement. The place is small and provides a lot of takeout - didn't really notice any music here - so quiet enough to have a conversation over your meal. Probably better Hainanese chicken options out there - but if in the area, it's worth a shot.

Free range Hainanese Chicken with rice

Haven't been here for a very long time. It was nice to eat their Hainanese chicken rice again. We opted for the free range chicken. We also had the laksa. For those who are not into red chili oil in their laksa, this is the one for you. Over the holidays last year, we had some satay from Prata-man at a house party. It was satisfying and the sauce was delicious. Need to remember to make room for the roti next time

This place is our go to place for Hainanese Chicken. The chef have mastered the art of making this simple yet challenging dish. It looks like a simple boiled chicken but achieving the flavour, right texture is no simple feat. Love it. And what's even better, it's boneless! *Extra sauces cost $1 each for the green onion oil and the spicy sauce. Also tried the Beef Rendang with Roti tonight. Beef was tender and roti was remarkable flaky and crispy. Very satisfied tummy tonight

So this is Singaporean Cantonese food. The flavors were ok, the satay was my favorite. The prata could have been thinner and laksa missing some coconut milk. The curry was tasty but more Cantonese than Singaporean. Not sure that I would come back. This place is cash and Canadian debit cards only so be prepared.

I never even know that chicken could taste like this, I'm actually so astounded at how good the Hainanese chicken was here. While the beef curry was good and the naan was crispy and flavorful, the chicken definitely was my favorite. It felt so refreshing eating this succulent chicken meat and I could feel the protein coursing through my veins. Did you know that chicken is the best protein and it's considerably healthier than red meat? Good stuff.

Curry beef with roti prata

Prata Man is an old-school, hole-in-the-wall restaurant offering classic Singaporean dishes like Hainanese chicken rice, which featured a plate of chilled poached chicken in soy sauce, served with a side of warm chicken broth, ginger-scallion sauce, and sweet chili sauce, along with yellow rice cooked in the broth of the chicken. My favorite part was the ginger-scallion sauce, which added a nice salty flavor to the mild chicken. I also had the Roti Prata with Curry Beef, a stew made of chunks of beef and potatoes in an oily curry broth. The beef chunks were rather sinewy and tough, but the roti bread was perfectly puffy, flaky, and chewy, and perfect for dipping into the mildly spiced curry sauce.

Definitely another good place to get malaysian food. Cheap and very good. Laksa was very good. The hainanese chicken rice not the best in town but it is very good nonetheless with very worth it price as well. Definitely a recommended place for you to try out and for it to be a comfort restaurant.

Our first meal at Vancouver, a city full of gourmet. This restaurant features in singaporean cuisine. Hainanese chicken is there signature and you can choose from regular or free range chicken in different size, whole, half or single order. The chicken is tender and the best part of hainanese chicken is their crystal skin with spring onion sauce. Curry beef is a must try at this place. The owner recommend us a combo with a roti and curry beef. The smell of butter roti is so good and the flank of beef is soft with fat, when you have it, it will melt in your mouth! Also, we ordered the Bak Kut Teh here, they provide with a malaysian flavor with chopped garlic and mix of herb and pepper. Overall it is great but a little bit sweet with the herb. Highly recommend to try here!!!

I was recommended to try this restaurant's Hainanese Chicken so I stopped by and ordered their Free Range Hainanese Chicken. Everything was nicely packed and came out quickly. They provide 2 boxes of rice (4-5 portions worth) with the whole hainanese chicken order, as well as two types of sauce (a ginger, green onion sauce and a vinegary tingy chilli sauce). The chicken was very tender and crunchy, especially the skin. It also had a slight savoury flavour, and a faint but subtle "chicken flavour" (that free range chicken has) which was brought out by the proper poached cooking method. These made the chicken really good on its own. The chicken was more flavourful with either sauces and the sauces were different from each other, but both complemented the chicken. The rice was really good on its own or with the chicken as it had flavour from being cooked in chicken fat/broth.

Hananese chicken is not as good as City1, but their rice here is much better. This is also a bit cheaper.

Horrendous service and terrible food. The half order of chicken is only a quarter. The roti is powdery and soggy.

Absolutely love this place! Didn't know there was this hidden gem food court in Richmond. With most…read moreserving East Asian cuisines, it was a pleasant surprise to see a restaurant serving Southeast Asian food. Gee has a wide variety of foods from Laksa, curries and fried noodles -- mostly offered in an Indonesian style. I ordered the lobster laksa and the beef rendang and was quite pleased with both. The beef rendang was very authentic, tasted excellent and had the perfect balance of crunchy texture and savoury flavours. The Lobster laksa was good and the spicy coconut milk had a good taste but not as authentic as the rendang. I would probably try the shrimp laksa next time as a go-to dish. Overall, very good meal from a food court and would recommend coming here if you are in the neighbourhood. I will be back to try the kweitiau goreng (fried noodle) and the kari ayam (curry chicken rice)!

Another new café opened in Union Square, Richmond. It has funny Chinese and confuse English…read morerestaurant name. I would consider this is HK style rather than Asian Fusion café, the menu is simple and most dishes are very basic but cheap. In general, $9-10 a dish and drink included. Red curry beef brisket with rice - Beef brisket was quite soft and tender but the red curry was a bit bland. Balachan with vermicelli - some shrimps and sprouts with vermicelli, just a bit salty Malaysian style fried noodles - some imitation crab stick and squid with flat noodles, tasty very soy sauce. Stew pork in noodles soup - Fatty stew pork and MSG broth. Overall, the food was ok and service was alright.

Since I was really in the mood for something different for lunch in Richmond, we headed to the…read morerestaurant that was formerly Best Bubble. This space had changed recently to Le Riz Asian Fusion Cafe, which serves a mix of Southeast Asian cuisine, as well as Hong Kong cafe style food. Since I recognized the owners, as they used to operate a Malaysian restaurant on Alexandra Road, we strayed away from the HK style food. The Malaysian-style fried vermicelli (~$7) was alright. It was nicely stir fried and the vermicelli was not overly dry or moist -- just right. However, I found the sauce it was stir fried with to be quite boring, and it reminded me of soy sauce fried noodles common to Chinese restaurants. Portion wise, it was decent for $7. The laksa noodles ($8) were also just alright as well. I never know what to expect with laksa since there are so many variants. This one here had a good curry taste that wasn't too overpowering, as well as a very strong ginger taste which warmed me up on a cold winter's day. The egg half was a bit overcooked, and I found bits of the yolk to be melting into the soup. The bowl was huge, but it was more soup than anything. Still, it was quite filling, and I appreciated the thick noodles which were cooked just right. I found the chicken to be a tad dry though. Overall the meal was decent, but I wouldn't say it was amazing. The food was fairly standard, and decently priced, since they came with beverages (such as the milk tea seen above).
