This is my new go-to neighborhood café after relocating to Seattle. I've sampled just about everywhere in Greenwood, and Preserve & Gather's food and drink are the best around. Don't miss out on the snack plate (which for me is actually enough for a whole meal). I've literally dreamt about this combination of dried fruit, cheese, and nuts because they're all so perfect. I'm also a fan of their scones, earl grey jelly, and the mushroom toaster pastries. I'll happily keep coming back. Yes, they don't have wi-fi, but if you have Xfinity the signal is strong! I am a new Seattle transplant. No, I do not work for the tech industry. No, I do not live in Capitol Hill. And yet, you are still breathing (maybe), as am I. This place is fantastic! It is right now my favorite place for coffee, and everyone that works there is so freaking nice. The coffee is just so good! The ricotta toast with honey was something of a simple piece of heaven. I've also had their chocolate walnut cookie which if I was a clepto(disclaimer I am not), I would figure out a way to steal all of them because that's just some orgasmic ish going on in your mouth sort of thing, yeah! They do not have wifi, and yet you are still breathing (maybe), as am I. Read a book, it's good for you and your brain. Enjoy the coffee, enjoy the food, sit back and relax. I drive 15 minutes each way to go to this coffee shop - that is how good the baked goods are. The service is also incredibly friendly, and they have adapted really, really well to the COVID environment. I feel safe coming here with the contactless system. I don't think the lattes are the best I've had in the city, but they are damn good and when 90% of the time I'm drinking my coffee at home, this is a weekly treat. Cute little place and very relaxing and quiet. I came on a Monday morning and sat outside and enjoyed my Matcha and ricotta toast. The matcha was just the right amount of sweetness, I asked for it to not be to sweet and I thought it was perfect. This place is so cute! I totally took a picture of the geometrically-painted wall and posted it to instagram. Good coffee and delicious pastries. Docked two stars because there is no wifi. I understand the whole no-wifi thing. It's probably the owner's decision to promote chit chat and avoid having a whole cafe of just people behind screens. BUT, I only had one bar on my phone due to the location and/or building so not having wifi was tough. I would come here and work during the day if there was wifi, but I guess I'll stick to my regular haunts. Maybe have wifi but turn it off at 5pm? Meet me in the middle? ;) read more

I was looking forward to going here all week because it's been a while and I don't live nearby, but I was disappointed in a few things so I thought I'd give you all a heads up. It's true- this was one of the best latte's I've had in a long time. However going out for coffee has become a luxury and I was hoping for more from this experience. 1. I ordered a latte but was asking a few questions about other options (like what's a cortado?). The barista seemed a bit annoyed with my questions and was just ready to get to the next person in line. 2. I sat down at a small table because I was alone. As I scooted in the table whacked my knees...and I'm not tall. It's not made for scooting up to. Since they serve food and coffee it would be ideal to be able to scoot in. 3. There's no WiFi and since it's a solid concrete building the cell service isn't great either. I had to guzzle my coffee and go because I couldn't get any work done- the main reason I was there to begin with. Overall, if you want a good cup of coffee, go here knowing exactly what you want and get it to go. If you need to use technology while sipping your beverage, go somewhere else. read more

I absolutely adore the aesthetic of this place as well as their coffee & treats! I love love love it. I did dock a star due to the lack of wifi. I get that it's the owner's choice, but I tend to frequent a lot of cafes to do work, since my day job allows me to work remotely. I was a little bummed having to use my hotspot and that this can't be a work or study spot for me. But I definitely will be frequenting it in the event that I want to meet a friend for coffee and treats. Also, their matcha is delectable! read more

Fantastic neighborhood cafe. We walk here all the time as a family. The yogurt itself is heavenly, wonderfully rich yet excitingly tart - and with apricot vanilla compote, I love it. I love that this gem is so close to our home and we can get a breakfast sandwich and coffee on weekend mornings before starting our errands. I really appreciate that they usually have at least 1 gluten free goody and hope to see more gluten free offerings in the future. They also offer non-dairy milks other than soy which means I can order mochas here! They've also been willing to modify my food order to make it dairy free which is great. read more

This was a great last minute find when searching for coffee and a snack after a trip to Carkeek park. The coffee was delicious and the menu was broader than the average coffee spot so you can actually get a meal, not just a treat. read more

There's a bunch of things which are contributing to 2 stars. Overall, it was just a real poor experience. The atmosphere is not great it's super musty in there with poor ventilation, and they have those cheap metal chairs and stools which are not comfortable at all. The place is advertised as somewhat of a cafe (?) which you'd expect would have WiFi, and they don't. Its 2019 ... who doesn't have wifi? Then lastly I actually got food poisoning from their Brussel sprout salad w/ pickled egg which is served as a tiny portion for $8. Will not be returning. read more

One of my favorite nearby bakeries. The pastries are delicious. The ham & jam biscuit is always delicious and they swap seasonal goodies. There's always a good selection here and the coffee is wonderful. There's no WIFI here, so don't expect to be able to work while sipping coffee. I got an 8 oz nonfat cappuccino and it was so good! Perfect ratio of espresso and milk and the milk was perfectly foamy. Also, the espresso was so smooth! Best coffee I've had in a long time and the prices are decent, not like some of these other Seattle coffee shops that charge $5 for a cortado. I also had the pumpkin chip muffin and it was delicious. It tasted homemade and in fact there were two employees who were baking in the open kitchen. The decor was very nice. Simple, not cluttered yet comfortable. Love this place. Oh, nice people at Preserve and Gather, you are SO stuck with us. Finally got here today - the husband and I shared a Ham and Jam Biscuit, Ricotta Toast, and a Cinnamon Toast item, the exact name of which escapes me but the taste of which shall haunt me. That was almost too much food for the two of us, but we soldiered on to the last crumb. The lattes with which we washed down this abundance were damn near perfect. Cheerful, light, airy ambiance, friendly knowledgeable staff, wonderful in-house-made items. And now that we have tried their breakfasts - they also have salads, sandwiches, and...for later in the day, cheese plates and wine. This is a neighborhood with many wonderful dining establishments within walking distance of our house - but despite the competitive nature of the amenities already in the 'hood, I predict this place will have NO problem holding their own. read more

A prior review said they tack on a tip without your knowledge but there's a very obvious sign on the tip jar that says, "You've already tipped, this is just extra," not sure how you could miss that. read more

Wow! I love this place! Just finished a wonderful egg salad w/fabulous, house made, gluten free crackers. They offer plenty of delicious looking gluten-filled, house-made pastries and other small savory dishes too. In a modern, beautifully conceived and designed, high ceilinged space with huge widows. Lots of varied seating and newspapers to read too! Across from the Chevron w/parking on 6th NW. Amending this review to add that they don't have Wi-Fi and the ambiance is lovely with some folks talking and others reading and you can almost always find a table as people don't camp out and work on their computers all day. read more

So far, my absolute favorite place for coffee in Seattle. Closely followed by Storyville and Victrola. Also Cafe Vita. Ok don't make me rank. Anyway, this is one of the cutest and most Instagrammable spots in Greenwood, if not north Seattle area. The coffee itself is great but definitely if you prefer your coffee on the sweeter, more flavorful side. They have a lot of unique syrups and flavors for your lattes - which I think might all be homemade. Vanilla latte has been my go-to test drink for all spots around here - and by far this one was so good. Perfectly poured, creamy and such a great vanilla flavor. All natural with none of that gross chemical aftertaste some syrups can have. Not to mention their food and pastries are great. Went all out our first time and got an egg and cheese sandwich. Amazing. Love this place and so glad I live within walking distance. read more

Hip coffee shop a little past busy Greenwood Ave, so if you're looking for a place that's not Chocolati (especially since Neptune is gone, sad face), check out Preserve & Gather. The space weirdly cavernous and it definitely *looks* very "sleek and modern, like if a Kinfolk cover became a coffee shop," but I do legitimately like the coffee and food served here. I've gotten the ricotta and honey toast (my usual), jam and butter toast, and assorted pastries. Warning (though a good kind): If you get a slice of their cake (I got coconut cake once), the serving is enormous. Grab a friend if you get the cake, it'll be a team effort. Roll up those sleeves! There's a good amount of seating, which is nice because it is a bit isolated in location (nothing immediately around it other than a weed shop, a glass shop, and a Fred Meyer), so if you make it out there, I assume you'd want to sit and enjoy your drink/snack. read more

Stopped in this morning on my way to shop of my best friend's wedding dress (!), and could not have stopped at a better place. The open feel was very welcoming, and all ages and walks of life were enjoying their breakfast treats. I got the ricotta toast with marmalade, and though they mixed up my order, they fixed it in no time flat, and were very apologetic. I'm those was perfectly light and fluffy with a mountain of ricotta cheese and drizzled honey. I added on the to-die-for marmalade and paired it with an americano. The bakery display was nothing to be ignored, so I grabbed two cookies for the road. Overall my total was only $12-- not a bad haul at all!! 10/10 would recommend read more

Friendly service, well crafted coffee, and I appreciate the (successful) effort to go beyond the typical coffee shop food selection. I've lived in Greenwood for a while and have been patiently waiting for the selection of quality coffee and restaurants to grow. Preserve and Gather is a very welcome addition. The vibe inside the shop is chill and comfortable with plenty of room to sit. Clean and well appointed design-wise, but does feel a touch Pinteresty. The location doesn't do the shop any favors with the main view facing a gas station and street parking being tough, but it's what's on the inside that matters. Lots of delicious! read more

Get the yogurt and granola! I came in on a slow Saturday afternoon. I ordered an 8oz soy latte and their yogurt with granola. The yogurt was deliciously tart and went well with the honey and granola. The granola is house made and has hazelnuts and dried figs in it. Delicious. The reason why I only gave this place 3 stars is the coffee, the unfriendly and slow baristas, and the lack of wifi. Let's get the easy one out of the way. There is no wifi, and the barista made it sound like they had no plans on getting wifi in the future. Minus one. Second, the baristas were not friendly. I barely got a smile from either of them, let alone a hello or goodbye. On top of that, their service was painfully slow. It took about 10 minutes for them to make my latte (I had time to find a seat, switch seats to be in the sun, use the bathroom, read several pages of my book, and eat almost all my yogurt before my drink was ready). If you don't have time to be friendly because you're making my coffee so fast, then I am a happy customer, but in this case, the baristas were unfriendly AND slow. WhenI finally got my latte, it was ugly (see picture), the espresso was weak, and the barista somehow managed to burn the soy milk. I tried to stir it up to make it more drinkable, but in the end I couldn't finish it. Maybe I went on a bad day, but I don't think this place deserves anything close to a five star review. Hoping that it shapes up and the baristas learn what it means to provide good customer service. I want to come back and have a better experience. read more

Cute little neighborhood cafe with good coffee and delicious baked goods. I came here last Saturday for a bookclub gathering and I enjoyed the coffee and the chocolate chip walnut cookie I ordered. Actually that cookie was really really good....So good I almost got another one. But I didn't because... my waistline. With plentiful seating and all that natural light, it was the perfect spot for our bookclub meeting. It's a good spot for reading, working, or meeting up with friends for coffee. Made the trip out to see this on the recommendation of a friend. I definitely see why she recommended it after giving it a try. Probably the best espresso I had on my weeklong vacation to Portland and Seattle. Not sure which beans they use but it was fire. I was also delighted to see they offer a bunch of different toasts, including butter, jam, banana Nutella, and other options. These were in addition to typical pastry options. Most cafes just have pastries or breakfast sandwiches. I didn't get anything because I ate beforehand but the ones I saw come out looked amazing! I hope to come back next time I'm in seattle. read more
