Pride is wonderful. We have been coming here for three or four years now. We discovered it just driving by one day looking for a place to eat late at night, they are open until 11 which is outstanding. The food is always good fresh and very very tasty. The owner Anne ,all the servers ,and the guys behind the sushi bar always welcome us with open arms like we are at their house. We have eaten both sushi and Thai food both are excellent. They also have a very good delivery area as well. The ambience is very cozy for a nice dinner out that won't cost you an arm and a leg. The place is really convenient for me because they deliver within 20 minutes. However, they don't really put the time and effort into making bubble teas. Last time I ordered two bubble teas, I found large chunks of ice and hard tapiocas. Very good option for Sushi in the area! Prices are reasonable, service was a little slow but friendly and the food (maki rolls) were excellent. I recommend the specialty rolls in particular and as mentioned, the presentation is very nice. This is a BYOB which doesn't seem to be prominent on the website (I called) which helps keep the tab down. The overall ambiance keeps me from going to 4 stars (it's really close) -it's pleasant enough just not hip/luxe/trendy or whatever you'd label it to make it more distinct. My coworkers and I ordered from here for lunch last week. I had the Spicy Maki Mono & Chicken Thai Spicy Basil. My sushi was ok, but it was nothing special or outstanding. The Chicken Thai dish was good but I only got a fork full as our day was busier than expected. However, the next day I was pleasantly surprised that the dish was much better, the flavor deeper. I wanted to like this place. The interior looks nice and I'm sure the food is delicious. My low rating goes towards the service and flexibility that they did not show towards my wife and I. We plainly asked for a substitution of the rice, instead of having the white rice and get fried instead of white. Our waitress said that was not possible at all. NEVER have I ever been told that you cannot substitute that period. There was not even an option to pay a little extra which ive seen before. Here it was plainly a NO. BUT, she was nice to go to the back and ask the manager, she then came back and said "manager said NO". So shame on the management. Next time you should come out yourself and face the unhappy customers. We were so perturbed over that we decided to leave the restaurant all together. read more

I came upon this restaurant when I decided to try grub hub. They where the first restaurant that I have ordered from grub hub, and now I am always ordering from them! I took a chance because I have never eaten here nor been here before. The pad thai is delicious and well portioned, even though I think its for two people I order it just for myself! Their smoothies are really good from the mango, and strawberries I cant chose, and their spicy mayo! I have never had spicy mayo but will now be ordering it every time! Don't Believe The Hype! What do people see in this place? Got delivery tonight based on the excellent reviews (which I can now only assume they are paying for) and was sadly disappointed. Ordered 3 hot appetizers - all arrived cold! 2 rolls and 4 pieces of sushi. The rolls we waaay below average and quite warm. The sushi was just average. The food arrived in under an hour, but i have to assume it was sitting around for a while due to temperature when it arrived. For the $$ there are MUCH MUCH MUCH better choices in the area. I'm torn about Pride Sushi and Thai. Here's why: The cuisine. Admittedly, I only enjoyed only one appetizer (shrimp shumai) and one dish (basil chicken entree). the food is perfectly good, although somewhat average. i.e. not bad, at all, but similar to other typical Thai restaurants. Personally, I prefer small, one-bite shumai. These were rather large; too large to eat in one bite. The result is that you must chew off a manageable piece, which can be a challenge with chopsticks. The basil chicken had very good flavor, but not much of a basil flavor. Somehow, the basil flavor was not present unless I put a piece of basil into my mouth. For one thing, the basil was completely wilted. Moreover, the amount of basil in the dish was scant. About one third of what would be ideal. But I'm basing this on my experience at a few of my favorite Thai places and I'm not Thai or even Asian, so who knows? Maybe this is typical in Bangkok. Noise/distractions: Most of the kitchen and dining room share one large space. They try to create a nice ambiance, including a fresh flower on each table and a lit candle. I applaud them on this. However, the ambiance suffers because of all the racket from the kitchen. On top of that, the manager talks to the employees in a fairly loud voice that carries throughout the restaurant. His staff remain relatively quiet, but his voice was annoyingly distracting. Lastly, I don't like the two, huge TV's. No sound, fortunately, but they are a completely unneccessary visual annoyance and detract from the ambiance. Service: Our server was excellent. Polite, friendly, and smiling. And she appeared/disappeared at the right moments. I could not ask for anything more. Ambiance: It's a cute place with a nice atmosphere. A nice little neighborhood place that's like an old pair of shoes. Really comfortable, but they definitely need a fresh polish. Don't get me wrong, the restaurant is clean. The windows are clean, the tables and silverware are clean. But, like most people's homes, many family owned restaurants have the unfortunate habit of accumulating junk and overlooking upkeep over time. Stains on the booth seat, corners worn of paint, etc. disappear from ownership's view over time. Things that shoud be put away or thrown out begin to pile up (I'm looking at you, all that junk along the east wall). The benign neglect and slightly disheveled appearance here is not at all extreme and could fairly easily be improved, but it's time to take that step. Food: 3.5 stars Ambiance: 3.5 stars Service: 4 stars BYOB: Yes, and that is wonderful Would I come back? That's not a fair question, actually, as I don't live nearby and simply stopped in out of curiosity after noticing this place every time I travel down Peterson Ave. I have a couple of Thai cuisine favorites, so I doubt that I'll be back soon, but if I lived in the neighborhood, I'm sure I would go back often. Don't let my detailed comments dissuade; those are easily corrected, minor points compared to the wonderful convenience of having a 4 star Thai restaurant in your own back yard. read more

This review is a for a delivery order. I ordered crab rangoon, a crunchy spicy tuna roll, and sesame chicken. Pros: Timeliness - I was quoted 50 min, my food arrived in 30. Granted, I ordered fairly early in the evening (about 5:30) Crab Rangoon - Very good. Lots of cream cheese but not skimping on the crab, no onion (I don't understand the fascination with putting onion in crab rangoon). Cons: Temperature - My warm entree was not separated in the bag from the sushi (I've seen other deliveries do this with cardboard inserts). As such, my sushi was warm. Bleh. Sushi - Good flavor, but not much "crunch." Sesame Chicken - Bland, bland, bland. The chicken isn't terribly gristly, which is nice, but the sauce is SO BLAND. Cost - $30. Ordered Crab Rangoon's, Chicken gyoza, crunchy spicy tuna, Philly roll, super white tuna, and spicy crunchy chicken. Overall the food was good and worth the price. Tbh the crab rangoons and gyoza were addicting. That sauce on the gyoza Yumm Yumm.. The only thing they need to work on is their presentation, and getting the right flavor notes. Just had delivery from Pride and it was some of the worst Asian food I've ever had: - Tempura shrimp & veggies - totally unrecognizable as tempura, that (usually) delicate quick-fried Asian delight. These were coated in some cornmeal-type mixture and fried to an extra-hard supercrunch. Wasn't good by any fried-food standards. - Shumai - one of my usual favorites, but these were mushy with some indeterminate filling. - Satay - dry, with a too-sweet peanut sauce. - Chicken Teriyaki - nearly passable, but in a syrupy sauce. Nice sized portions and decent prices for the usual suspects, pad thai, pad see ewe, keep me coming back regularly. Green curry tastes good but not thick like I like it.
