Id give it -10 stars if I could. Complete waste of time and money. Their food is simply hot salted water. Extremely slow service. I guess they are short staffed and aren't prepared for rush hours. Food was stale and not even hot enough to eat. They also have no sense of time as they keep saying 10 mins and took over 2 hours for our order. He also overcharged me for the order read more

Ordered food from Priya tonight for my birthday. Mushroom mutter and lamb curry, both were great. Got the Thali dinners which included basmati rice that was fluffy, dal curry (yum), sambar (more yum), vegetable curry (yes, yum), naan (which my husband continuously dunked in the raita, it was cool and creamy) and rice pudding, and I of course ate all of that since I'm the birthday girl. I also got the onion pakora that comes with 3 dipping sauces. We fought over the cilantro chutney because it's THAT good. I honestly loved the entire meal, and so did my husband and daughter. Small portions, mediocre taste and high price. Ordered butter chicken. It had about 6 small cuts of chicken and some of them were not fresh. The sauce was very good at all. The server did not check to see if the food was acceptable. Dropped $15 for a meal that left me still hungry and sorry I chose this store. They made me cry tonight.. I do DoorDash and was waiting for an order inside. Am homeless man age around 35 came in with a kinda nice suit jacket. He said he felt called to come in. First thing after that he said he wanted a job. He then said he wanted food. I'm really hungry and no one will help me. It was real. The man said no job... Food? Ok you sit! We get you some food. The man sat. He continued to say how he wanted to work to pay for the food. Guy says no, just wait. My heart sunk five times of the generosity of this little small business owner. I'm a big fan of Butter Chicken. When they first opened they used to put raisins in it and it's was so good. I'm not sure if they have a different cook or what but the butter chicken does not have raisins in it anymore. Very disappointing. That and the portions have gotten significantly smaller. read more

Their curry is AMAZING the butter chicken isn't the usual creamy orange I'm used to it was more red and sweet but it was an amazing change on the curry, the naan was light and doughy, and the samosas were delicious as well. 5/5 will return when ever back in the area read more

Not sure how it got 4 stars. This is by far the worst Indian restaurant in ca. 1.waiter is a very old man whose hand shakes while lifting plates. Others take orders. 2.most of the items on menu were not available 3.lady who took orders was rude.She took orders standing at one place and shouting at us. 4. A couple was sent back even after reservation 5. a landline phone at the restaurant kept on ringing the entire time nobody answered 6. You must try this place! I fell in love. The other reviewer, Mark S., is right. Today we tried the buffet. Even though Indian food is pretty unpleasant looking, so is chile verde and we love dat shit! Most everything I tried, I loved. There are about 20 items to choose from on the buffet. They play good Indian music. THANK YOU. Not country or Chinese. Service is bad. The ladies are dressed in beautiful sari's but they don't crack a smile nor would they remove our dirty plates. We asked for Thai iced tea and got regular, Lipton iced tea. Otherwise... the food was very very good. Please, give them a try. If you already like Indian food you won't be disappointed. UPDATE: I came back and the service was much better and they took our plates when we were done. (buffet) I can't tell you how addicted I am of their Butter Chicken. Mmmmm!! read more

Avoid the buffet! Not a great selection for vegetarians in the first place. Worse it turned out to be Stale food, driest naan ever. Food is full of color (not from turmeric) but lot of red color in the creamy gravy dishes. Guy at the desk does not understand basic math. Says buffet for kids is half price. And half of $13.99 is $9.99? Was rude when questioned about it. No service whatsoever, no one removed plates or asked for water refill. The guy came with water when we r almost done!? This is a good restaurant. The seating is decent, the people are nice. Also, the chai and naan is good. What keeps me from giving 4 stars is that I tend to prefer spicier dishes and theirs tends to be more sweet than spice. It isn't bad but it's a bit tame from my point of view. Don't get me wrong, though. A 3 star rating is good. It means they're at least hitting the mark. I certainly go there every time I'm in Redding, if they were deficient I'd do Chinese instead. By the way...their prices are 'steep' only if you're comparing them to cheap $6 chinese lunch specials. I do buffet and chai, only $10.12 or so. I certainly get my money's worth! read more

Best Indian cuisine in the area. The buffet is ok but the menu items are much better. I have eaten here with some of my friends from India and they like it a lot. They rate it as "one of the better Indian restaurants" that they've been to in the US. Found by accident on July 4, when other places closed. Only served buffet. Largely mediocre food, inc, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala. Various pakoras, curries, watermelon and fruit salad that was banana with canned pineapple chunks. Most of clientele was India . Found food second-rate compared to restaurants in San Francisco, Singapore, London. Probably overpriced. The food itself isn't bad. I liked the taste of the butter chicken, had the right amount of saltiness and was just the right amount of richness. However, the chai tea was a bit of a disappointment. It was a little bland, had to add more sugar than I liked for a better taste. The garlic naan was alright, but parts of it were a bit too burnt for my taste. The main thing that got me was the service. If I ask for a separate container for my left over curry, it's to make sure it doesn't over soak my left over rice, also spoils a bit faster when I have to mix both of them. I did not appreciate being told I could just put the two of them together. I'm aware it tastes "good" together. All in all, the entrees are good. Garlic naan not bad, just watch the toasting. I'm only giving this a 1 star because I can't give it no stars at all. We stopped here to pick up dinner during the 4th of July weekend road trip. Save your money and don't order from here. The food had no taste/no flavor. The naan were stale and hard to eat. The vegetable masala was so mushy that we couldn't even tell what was in it. The shahi paneer was so watery and it was not paneer, it was tofu. I don't know how this place has four stars. I really really recommend not going here if you're traveling. read more

We got fooled by yelp reviews and stopped at this place. The whole restaurant looks run down and dirty. There is a rude man taking orders. We got dosas and all our dosas looked overcooked and even slightly burnt. Chutneys did not taste fresh. Idli was dry and hard. Restrooms were unkempt and dirty. On my last trip to Redding , my friends were craving Indian food & found Priya on Yelp . We waited at the door for some time , before someone would get us a table . They had a Valentines day dinner buffet , though we were not quit hungry , we opted for the buffet . The Naan was nice and fluffy and delicious , though we had to wait for a while . The Chicken Tikka, Butter Chicken ,Egg plant curry , Dal curry & pakodas we excellent . Not spicy, but who's complaining ! The gulab jamun & the lamb curry ware a little under cooked . The prices were quite steep compared to all the buffets i have tried in Indian Restaurants . The service was nothing to mention & the prices were step that's whats stopped me from a 5 star rating . Got to say, after just getting back from India a couple weeks ago, I still have been craving some of those amazing flavors... and this may be some of the best indian I've had in the USA, period! I love the variety in all the dishes and the fact you can get any entree served in an arthritic thali style!!! You don't see that offered in many indian joints around the country! One month later, tried Priya's buffet again. Still a fan, but definitely not of the Naan. They would do well to serve fresh Naan to each table (am I repeating myself?). After having had another Indian buffet just a few days ago elsewhere, I'd say the food is mostly flavorful (nothing spicy), but the sauces were a bit more watery than I prefer. Service is very good. DO NOT EAT HERE, this food is not even close to proper Indian food. There should be a zero star rating because Priya deserves it. After the management change the food has declined greatly. My wife and I were a staple at Priya and today after getting some biriyani that all changed. The sub-par food can be excused but the tone and the shear ignorance of the ownership cannot be. After being told their biriyani was tasteless, I was told that that is how it is supposed to taste. I am Southeast asian and have eaten biriyani most of my life and without a doubt the biriyani at Priya tops the list as being the worst I have ever had. Biriyani is a mix of various spices that culminates in a mouth watering taste extravaganza but Priya's version simply does not even have salt. It was simply boiled rice and some meat mixed in that had no flavor what so ever. Defending that atrocious food and saying this is how it is, is even worse. read more
