I came here with a reocmmendsiron from my friend who told me the croissants here were out of this world amazing, so I strolled here with a friend on a Sunday and it was cuhrazyyyy. But, we made it in after insane parking and a super long line. It moves pretty quickly btw. I ordered the mushroom scone but was not a fan of the cumin punch that came with it. The cherry pistachio croissants were good. It was a lot and I couldn't taste much of the pistachio but there was a nice flaky crunch to it...the way croissants should taste (reminds me of tatte bakery in Boston, which I miss so much!!), a chocolate chip cookie that I could pass on next time and a pistachio cookie (kind of like a Mexican wedding cake) that didn't have much flavor. Overall, everything was okay, but I'll def be back for the croissants and hopefully they'll have caneles next time. Oooo!!!! And the sandwiches were bomb! One of my favorite bakeries here in L.A. There's always a line no matter what time of the day you go, but it is worth it! Moreover, there are many street parking around the neighborhood. I love their almond croissants- but honestly, any of their croissants because the dough is some of the best I've ever had. It wasn't too sweet, and the dough was flaky and puffy. If you want to get their croissants, I highly recommend going there in the morning or early afternoon because they run out pretty quickly. In addition, their savory galette (with mushroom and kale) and savory turnover (curry flavor) are other recommended items if you visit the store in the morning. After tasting the canele, that was proof you deserve 5/5 Yelp stars, but you didn't stop there, you continued to wow with the chocolate croissant and regular . Our box was filled with goodies and we enjoyed 95% of the delectable treats. Our box was filled by a sweet lady but the coffee crew weren't friendly. Not sure if there's one line for baked goods and one line for coffee or if anyone can help-- confusing in a small setting. Anyways back to the reason we came back to Proof was the reason why we will return, caneles. Although an expensive treat, they are the best we've ever had. See you next time Proof. read more

I was very disappointed. The price for the coffee size is crazy. There is only one size and it's so small as if it's a double espresso. There are no flavors, just no. The food items cannot be warmed up do I hope you like your Han cold. read more

The most delicious thin European baguette sandwiches that will take you on a travel pass across the ocean to a lovely boulangerie. They have different options everyday but always a vegan and vegetarian version that are so flavorful. Come early because they do tend to run out within a few hours of opening. Their chocolate chip cookies are the BEST in LA and they also have carrot cake and strawberry shortcake that have gotten rave reviews from my friends when I've brought them for special occasions. I cannot share how much I love Proof Bakery. I went here in a whim after having tried their lemon olive oil cake a year ago at a friend's birthday celebration. On my first visit I got a guava cheese danish, BOMB. Then the second time I got a chocolate croissant, BOMB and a breakfast sandwich, BOMB. This most recent time, I got the cherry pistachio croissant, a chocolate chip cookie and a Turkey sandwich (available after 11am). Again, proving my love for this bakery. Every time I've gone there's a nice-sized line showing me it's a well-loved spot. I ordered an iced latte each time and consistently have been really great. The staff are also really nice despite being busy. This has easily moved up on my spot of favorite bakeries in LA. read more

I used to think it was nearly impossible to find a half decent croissant in Los Angeles. I then stumbled upon Lou the French on the Block and now Proof Bakery have my favorites in town! I also did not realize just how popular Proof is - I came by Saturday around 8am and there were a good 15 people ahead of me and more trickling in behind as I waited. Once inside, it's a small shop with some pre-packaged items like cookies and jams, and then the display cases with all the real fun. I decided on the ham and gruyere croissant, pain au chokolat, and a chocolate chip cookie, coming to about $13. The croissants are so flaky and buttery with a great crisp on the outside and super airy and chewy on the inside. Although I liked the flavors of the ham and gruyere, my only peeve for this is how little there is of each. It took 2-3 bites before reaching the ham and cheese while a single thin slice was folded in the middle of the pastry. As for the chocolate, there again was very little of it and it was very cheap chocolate being used. I used to work in a bakery and know the box-load of chocolate sticks used for pain au chokolat and this was that. I wish the quality and even the quantity of filling matched the greatness of the pastry itself which is the only reasons I can't get to a five star review here. As for the chocolate chip cookie - hands down one of the best in LA. Chewy, chocolatey, rich in flavor from the brown sugar and sweetness, it was just too good not to enjoy! read more

Very cute neighborhood spot! Super busy at 9AM on a Friday with a line out the door. Had to wait about 15 mins to order. Lemon poppyseed scone (4/5): Scone was really light, a little on the drier side and crumbly. The glaze is super super lemony. Almond financier (5/5): so moist and delicious flavor. Really nice small snack size. My almond cappuccino was also good. The espresso tasted a bit sour/acidic (which is pretty common in general...), but the milk was really creamy. I think they use the Califia barista blend. Lastly, the staff is all super warm and welcoming. read more

Proof Bakery is a cooperative bakery that serves up some seriously good baked goods. The bakery does not currently have any indoor dining as they currently displace merchandise and local goods for sale. There is however very limited outdoor seating on the sidewalk (less than 5 tables of 2), so plan to take your morning catch-up somewhere else. Parking: This location shares its parking with all the other businesses in the area. Typical LA setup, paid meter street parking with a very small lot behind the business. You're likely going to park in the neighborhood behind the businesses. Salami Sandwich: Their sandwiches come on stecca bread and are small and narrow. It reminds me of the baguette sandwiches you find in France. The sandwich was delicious and I would highly recommend. Be aware that the "filling" of the sandwich is light so if you're looking for the thick sandwich, this isn't it. Overall, a good place to come get coffee or some baked goods. read more

Amazing! I looked all over LA for good coffee during a week-long visit and finally found it here, of all places. It was also the only place I found with cold, house-made simple syrup available for the customer to add to the coffee himself (most other places offer those wasteful packets of sugar). Then there are the baked goods. Everything was amazing! So delicious. The croissants are sumptuously flaky, the scones are delightful. I can't say enough good things about this place. The line is usually fairly long -- out the door or almost out the door -- but it moves fast. My only suggestion for them is that they also provide metal stirring spoons for coffee. They only provide the disposable wooden stirrers. read more

We discovered this bakery two years ago and they had the best butter croissant in town! It was crispy outside and fluffy inside. Perfect to my taste. Two years later, they still have the best croissant in town! Their quantity of croissants are limited so it's best to go early (like as soon as they open). This place has gotten so popular among locals that the line has gotten longer compared to two years ago. This place also serves drinks and other bake goods and sandwiches during lunch. But I like their croissant the most! Haha Prices can be little bit on a pricey side but every penny you spend will be worth it cuz the bake goods are that good. read more

I have been in search for a good croissant (like the one in Paris) and I finally found one very close to the taste, just a little more French butter layered in it would be perfect 10 score. Lots of pastries to offer and as well as beverages. There is not much tables outside. Not for groups. No tables inside. Cute cafe. Friendly staff. Good pastries. I love everything at this bakery, I have said it for many years. But lately the service has gone down, somewhat rude employees, really high prices. Unpleasant service.....I paid $6.25 for an almond Croissant today ,,,,WOW .... Every time I'm in the area I stop by to get some treats for my kids and lately they run out of things by noon. So annoying to drive there and leave disappointed in the middle of the day. Today I was there at 11am and they had ran out of plain croissants. Keep the line moving. After always seeing a line outside the door, my boyfriend and I finally decided to see what the hype was about. We purchased their mushroom puff pastry, apple chausson, yogurt cake, and pistachio cherry croissant. I also ordered an iced chai with oat meal. The yogurt cake was moist but wasn't anything special. I didn't like the pistachio and cherry combo and the iced chai was bland. What sold me was their mushroom puff pastry and apple chausson. I love apple baked in anything and their chausson checked all the boxes. The filling was delicious and the lamination was perfect. The sweetness of the filling in contrast to the dough was balanced. There were a few bites that only has dough but it was essentially eating toast. The mushroom puff pastry had the same delicious, flakey dough plus the savory, creamy mushroom filling. It was definitely decadent but worth it. It is also pricey but after tasting what they offer, they definitely take the time to bake. read more

Had the ham and cheese banquette and the apple and sesame loaf. The food is good. The bread is so similar to France. The loaf has good flavor and super moist. Although Proof is a terrific bakery and sandwich place, the help could use some 'charm' lessons. They are slow and make no effort to move the line along on crowded days. And, they will NOT cut your sandwich in half. Is that some over the line request? Hey hipsters, how's about some helpful fast service? advice: put up a chalk board menu with prices outside--that way everyone knows what's inside and available--and you can keep the line moving! It was adorable, fresh and simply delicious. We like coming here whenever where in Atwater village! It's a little no frills bakery that seems to always have a line. We came before for other treats but this visit we decided to come in for a little snack and coffee after brunch. We decided to get the peach scone. They're in season and right at the top of the display so our eyes were drawn! We ordered on, and the server bagged one (and promptly restocked the display). We also got a single origin drip coffee as well. Coffee was great and hit the spot. The scone was burnt on one corner but still delicious; it just made it a sweet crunchy end piece. read more

As a frequent customer of Proof I had hoped to find the time to write them a nice review. Unfortunately now that I have the time my impressions have soured. Their best products are their savory pastries, cookies, and a small baguettes called "stecca bread". Scones and other baked good are good but not memorial. Where they start to disappoint is with the croissants. Also pretty good most of the times, but very inconsistent, and sometimes terrible (layers flattened with one large hollow inside). Their chocolate croissant is particularly sad, with no adjustments in baking and very little actual chocolate (see photo). At $5 the quality should be much better, especially with so many other options for baked goods nearby. A very long line outside on a Sunday morning, while 5 staff people helping one person at a time inside, finally pushed me over the edge. If I'm going to overpay for over-hyped products then at least provide decent service. read more
