This place is awesome. We placed an large group of individual orders and this place did not miss a beat. All of the orders were correct and made on time. I was very impressed because we had about 10 single orders. I will admit, parking here is a nightmare. There is very limited street parking available. I ended up making a spot out front, running in and getting my food and going. The staff there was very friendly and helpful. There is a large dining area and a semi enclosed patio area out front of the restaurant. Be aware that the patio's enclosure partially obstructs the front of the restaurant and makes it hard to see from the street. I made my order online and it was very simple. I order a small pretzel, a schnitzel sandwich with fries and a side of potato salad. Everyone in my group really enjoyed their food. One even said that it was some of the best that they ever had. My food was excellant. The pretzel was perfect. The schnitzel sandwich was huge. It dwarfed the bun. It was very tasty. The fries and potato salad were also good. I really enjoyed my meal and would highly recommend every part of my meal. This place was great. There were no complaints from any of them. I highly recommend this place for those looking to get some German fare. You will not be disappointed.
Great service with indoor and outdoor seating options. A group of us went for happy hour. We were going to stay outside but after a few minutes, the mosquitoes were buzzing around. We went inside and it was much better! They open at 4. We arrived shortly after and it was already filling up. Love the convenience of splitting checks with a large group - can see the entire tab via the QR code on the table and pay that way. Plenty of beer selections. I'm not a beer person so I tried the "Alsace Spritz" cocktail - I liked it! A few in the group got the beer flights and seemed pleased with it! The pretzel bites were a hit! If you love German beer, add this place to your list!

I'm not generally into German food but I really enjoyed the pretzel. Their beer cheese is awesome. I also got asparagus and brussel sprouts, an appetizer. My friend loved the chicken schnitzel and it was HUGE! My other friend who got spaezel said she wished it had more of a cheese flavor but that it was still good with the short rib. Drink-wise it's definitely more of a beer place but they had hot wine and cider too for fall! We sat inside but the outdoor seating looked great. Inside its long tables and benches, casual atmosphere. Splitting the bill and paying online was a breeze with the pay app!
Great local bar in the middle of DC serving up delicious food and even better beer. We happened into Prost on two occasions in two days., for happy hour and brunch. Happy hour was perfect, pint deals, lively atmosphere s must. For brunch we came in on Sunday, sat outside and received exceptional service. The blood orange mimosa was delicious. I also had the Benedict, perfectly poached eggs with a potato cake, my opinion it could have been crispier best part the lemon mustard vinaigrette...literally could have drank it with a straw.
We stopped for a little German food and maybe a good beer. I tried the bratwurst and the October fest. The beer was Great. Not so much for the bratwurst. Unfortunately the bratwurst was kinda on the bland side unless you used the mustard. The mustard made it OK... the fries were good. Service was good, nice to be able to enjoy the outdoor dinning all an all I had a good time. As I said Great Beer...
Nice spot, we sat outside on the patio. The food was yummy. The food service was quick. We were able to pay using a QR code on the table, which was very convenient. Got the deviled eggs, which were super light and delicious. I got the small pretzel as well which was good too. They offer non-alcoholic beer options. I got the Weihenstephaner.
the restaurant is decorated well and I love their outdoor seat section! Service is fast and they have a good selection of beer. I personally really enjoyed the pretzel with beer cheese! The food is definitely on the pricier side though.
Stopped in here for brunch on a Sunday and it was easy to get a spot, as it was busy but no wait. We split the large pretzel, the Deutsche baby with schnitzel, the schnitzel sandwich, and the hash. The service was super quick and friendly. There are multiple tvs, and it's a cool bar vibe. If we were in the area again we would be back for the massive beer flight!
Beer is so damn good here. I was confounded the whole day until I read on wiki that Germany (Bavaria) literally has a beer purity law from 1500's, Reinheitsgebot, that only allows three ingredients in German beer - water, malts, and hops. Go figure! The Pilsner quality is unmatched to any American Pils and you can definitely tell the difference. Food is good too, considering it's mostly bar food, but still has Bavarian foundation. We got a burger on a pretzel bun, delicious, and the short rib spaetzle which was lovely and paired brilliant with the beer. The pretzel is a must get, it comes out piping hot, deliciously crispy, and paired with mustard dipping and cheese dipping. Again, DELICIOUS WITH THE BEER! I tried two different pilsners and a kolsch and they were all wonderful. German and their beers, doesn't get better than that. TLDR; totally recommended this bar. Great beer
We stopped here for early dinner. We got a bratwurst with sauerkraut on a pretzel bun. They added some fries too. I was surprised the brat was kind of bland I thought being a German Restaurant would be different. The service was great and the atmosphere was Oktoberfest like. We sat outside and was fun watching the people walk by with their dogs. My husband also got a huge beer. He enjoyed that
I do love a good German spot, and especially appreciated having this place so near to my hotel. Wound up visiting several times during my trip. It is already in a part of town with tons of other eateries and bars, so convenient enough to walk over should you be in the area, as there is little to no parking right at hand. You can sit either inside, or in some of their lovely outdoor booths. And the ambiance here, especially in the evenings, is very lively and fun, definitely a fantastic spot to enjoy a couple pints and some hearty food. The beer selection is excellent, with maybe a dozen or so different imports. Can't choose which beer you want? Well they do a mondo big flight to help you decide. Kinda sorry I didn't spring for it, actually. They also have a full bar, with wine and cocktails, but I definitely had to get some of their house-made hot spiced wine, as it has that autumn-y vibe. The food here is quite good indeed. The schnitzel sandwich with the side of spaetzle really hit the spot. And on a following visit, I sprung for the Leberkäse (pork and veal) Sliders, along with a bowl of their tasty Goulash. Everything was delicious, and the prices were pretty darn decent for both the food and drinks. And the service here was outstanding, especially from Shannon, who was really cranking out those orders behind the bar. Top marks all around for the staff. So yeah, all in all I enjoyed Prost a great deal. Definitely would recommend it for anyone looking for a more casual sort of hangout in this part of DC.
Really cool German beer place. Started with the Prost platter which is great if u want to try a variety of German food. The beer pours are large. Even the smaller size is still a good amount. Loved the Schnitzel sandwich and also tried the Wurst. Lots of seats both indoor and outdoor. I think this would be a great day drinking spot in the summer!
Easy reservation system to ensure a table this past Sunday. I was expecting more of a beer hall, but this spot is fairly small by comparison. In the warmer months, they have a nice constructed area on the sidewalk for outdoor dining/drinking. A solid list of a dozen or so German draft beers, plus some mimosas. Just the brunch menu during our visit, but lots of yummy options. I had the Bavarian Hash which was a good portion and delicious. A couple pieces of toast would have been even better, but that's how I roll :) 1/2 liters will cost you $9-$10, so not an inexpensive brunch. Still very friendly service and we were in an out within an hour without feeling rushed. Solid choice thanks to Yelp. read more
Just came in for a few beers and ended up staying to watch some football (soccer for those who are incorrect ;) ). My husband is German so when he saw this place on Google Maps during our trip to DC, he really wanted to stop in. When major sporting events are on, this place gets packed so keep this in mind if planning a visit here specifically to watch certain sporting events. We came in on a slower Sunday, the bartender was very nice to us and we were serviced quickly. We ordered our drinks and wanted to try the pretzel, it came with cheese and mustard sauce, it was a good snack. Also, they do carry things other than beer behind the bar. I tried a few cocktails off their drink menu, including a Mule. I also like the setup of Prost, seems like a very social and fun bar to be in when there are a lot of people there. It definitely gives off European and Oktoberfest vibes. If I lived in the area this would be a regular spot for me. read more

Grabbed a quick bite to eat after walking around. The vibe is great, and the outside tables are wonderful this time of year. I only ordered a pretzel, but will forever be thinking of when I can go back and order another. Absolutely delicious. read more

I went during the first trivia night, which, despite having some hiccups was a lot of fun. The restaurant's walls are adorned with "German-esque" banners and coats of arms decoration: cozy and inviting like a pub. The server was very friendly and ensured my table had everything we needed. My complaint with the venue, however, was that the AC wasn't on and with so many people, even with the door open, it grew very warm. Secondly, the pretzel was not very flavorful even with the cheese and mustard. For only a dollar more, I'd recommend Bronson Beer Hall's Pretzel: it's better tasting and a bigger portion. A cute place but there are better German beerhalls around the area. read more

Came here on a Sunday for brunch and we were seated quickly. The not so continental breakfast is maybe their twist of English breakfast with potato pancakes, bread, eggs to your liking, and German sausages. The Bavarian rash was delicious and very filling! They also have a bottomless drinks option and a large drinks menu with many beer and cocktail options. This is a pretty solid German cuisine option and certainly the most accessible in the area. Anything that's a straight German dish, such as the Sauerbraten, has been pretty good. The Brunch menu, which I only experienced once, seems to have some experimental or fusion ideas and some are a bit... questionable. If you stick to wurst and the Dinner menu you'll have a lovely, casual German meal. Decent beer selection too. read more
This is a great beer garden in the area. I was kinda sceptical about this place, but now I love it. Great happy hour, 50% discount for 3 kind of German kind of beer and cocktail. The beer tastes great, I tried Octoberfest and Franziskaner. Really great deal - 1L of premium beer for $10. A perfect place to step in during summer time or hot spring days as next week :) read more

I came here with a former colleague when I came to visit a few months ago and I had a good brunch experience. There was no wait--actually, he got here before I did and was already seated. At the server's suggestion, I got the breakfast bialy sandwich. It was quite filling and the price was right. My friend got Prost benedict. I can't remember what drink he got but I got the Wake me up--the server really hyped it up and said that they make their own whipped cream but then they ran out of the whipped cream. That was a little disappointing but the drink was still good--you definitely have to like coffee drinks. I also got the Prostini--I liked the baby's breath, it was a cute touch. This was a solid brunch spot that wasn't far from the metro. read more
We had an awesome brunch experience here and I hope to come back! We had a socially distanced, outdoor, contact-less brunch and enjoyed everything from our bottomless mimosas to the food! Although it was cold out, the heater and drinks kept us warm so Prost is definitely prepared for the colder months ahead. Service was awesome and food was great. Huge shout out to Jen for making our experience so much fun. And in general, awesome folks work here -definitely felt the positive vibes. We ordered coffees, mimosas, breakfast bialy, avocado toast, and prost omelette. I loved my omelette - it came with a "potato pancake" that hit the spot. The bialy wasn't as much of a hit, but the jam sure made up for it. I look forward to returning in the future! read more

Came for brunch with some friends. It was the only place we could get a last minute reservation for. Food is pretty good, not bad but also not the best food I've had around DC. We got Benedict, hash, deutsch baby and a pretzel. No complaints on any of the food but again, not dying to come back for any of it either. Place itself is very pub like. It was pretty empty inside for a Sunday afternoon. Easy to get a seat. Didn't have to wait too long for food. Service was alright, no complaints. Overall not too bad. Would come back if I needed a place to eat with a larger party last minute. read more

Maybe I'm just not really a fan of German food. This is my 3rd German restaurant that I've tried, maybe German food just isn't for me. The franziskaner hefe weissbier was 1st - beef and veal slider, it was ok. It's like if you mixed Vienna sausage and spam together and add a bun some mustard and pickles. Since I like spam and Vienna sausage, I say it was ok 2nd - bratwurst, is it supposed to be that salty? One bite was enough really for me. It was super salty. Costco's pineapple and beef sausage was a lot better. 3rd - short rib spaetzl, short rib delish! Had a sweetness to it, made me think that it was marinated in some type of red wine marinade like a Chianti or something. Spaetzl noodles, Um, I prefer pasta more. The marinated yams were really overly boiled, felt like I was eating baby food. Overall, the short rib was definitely good. 4th - almond cake with white chocolate sauce, warm, soft, but with a nice slight crunch on the outside. Great bake. This white chocolate almond mousse is heavenly! Not too sweet but just enough to cleanse the palette. I would've never known that that was white chocolate, tasted more like vanilla bean. I recently visited Prost DC to celebrate someone's birthday. I loved the outdoor seating, but the noise of the cars sometimes going by was a little loud. The food was okay. I had the chicken schnitzel sandwich with fries and the pretzel bun was honestly a little tough. The best part of the entire thing was the fries. The staff was always super friendly, but I do not think I will return in the future. read more

Our first restaurant while on vacation in DC. The first thing one noticed when walking here is how much people prefer to eat outside. Which, given the nice weather, is understandable. But, because I live in Florida and humidity still exists, I prefer indoors. The place is nice and open. Literally it seems the only walls were around the restaurant and the kitchen. It's a very laid back place and full of easy-going staff. They came up with cups of water and then asked what we wanted after a bit. My son ordered the sampler which included a brat, two types of kraut, a pretzel and cheese cubes. Truly everything a growing boy needs. I got the Prost burger which is like the name implies. Double patty with a nice sauce to it. It was messy but good! My son saved room for an Apple Strudel Mug. He ate it all up quickly. I was surprised I was able to capture a pic. The two strange parts I found were that: 1. There didn't seem to be only one waitperson dedicated to certain tables. Everyone was there to help. 2. That they didn't take any drink orders without me asking. $45 for the whole meal is a wee bit pricy, but it's to be expected around here. read more
Prost was a great low-key German place I recently found out about in the Mount Vernon area. There's ample outdoor seating and pretty great service! I ordered the wurst and my boyfriend got the chicken schnitzel. I tried both and the schnitzel was a great option. It was a little large and intimidating, but the flavors are great and it's a solid, filling sandwich. Both came with copious amounts of fries as well! The wurst was also good, but the schnitzel had a slightly better flavor profile. The have a pretty decent cocktail list if you're not into beer. It seems like a great place for an afternoon hang out with a group of friends and catching up over drinks and food. Great addition to the area! read more

We came during Oktoberfest and it was a fun time. We sat outside since it wasn't too cold, and there is a bunch of seating. Lots of dogs outside too and a busy area. We were able to park in the lot next door for maybe $10. The pretzel especially the cheese and mustard were delicious. Didn't love the potato salad but probably cause I've never tried German style. The best part was the huge beer flight. read more

Super chill place with great customer service. Definitely authentic food...I always hated sauerkraut because it was so tart but this was perfect and my wurst was superb. My husband got the Bavarian Hash and he left not even a crumb behind! My drink was perfect: strong yet refreshing and his mimosa was just right. Will definitely visit again. read more
Stumbled across this spot after leaving dinner on K street. Had a great vibe to it so we stopped in. German Biergarten feel. We had already eaten so we were just looking to grab a couple of drinks. It was a Monday night so not very busy, which was great for us. We had the option to sit in or outside. Soon as we sat down we were greeted by our waitress. I'm not a big beer drinker so always have questions about the beer list to help make the best decision. Waitress was super knowledgeable and patient . We grabbed 2 beers and were happy with both. We will be back again to try the food and the other beer selections. read more
We were excited to try German brunch, so sat outside and ordered Deutsch babies and peach sorbet bellinis. LOVE the bellinis--so tasty and not as sweet as I expected (which is good). The Deutsch baby was good--I ordered the sweet but got to try the savory also (the chicken was amazing). It was my first, and once I started to eat it, I realized that it's basically large a popover/Yorkshire pudding. The outside ambiance isn't great for a hot summer afternoon as there is little shade, but it was a great spot for dog watching on the sidewalk. We also had a pretzel and I could have eaten a whole plate of those with cheese and mustard. Our server was great and super attentive, and made great recommendations for food and drinks. read more

Solid restaurant with a decent selection of beer and food. The outdoor seating area was fairly expansive and the service was prompt. I had a Riesling and a Wurst sandwich with a side salad. The wurst was delicious but I found the bun to be quite dry. The salad was fairly small, and one of the few veggie options. I suppose I was expecting more of a selection of food, and this isn't really a great place to go if you want something healthy or vegetarian. Still, good vibes overall and friendly people. read more
