Literal scam. Been with the company for years, and our rate goes up every 6 months or so, and that in itself is fine; inflation and all that. However, we're renting a 10' x 10', upstairs unit for $230+ a month; yet on the website, right now, the EXACT SAME unit is only $180 a month. I called and asked corporate and this location both, and they claimed that the $180 is a "promotional rate". Yet I went all the way to the point of almost signing the contract with an existing account, and despite what they claimed, the rate is STILL $180 per month. The contract itself makes no mention of a "promotional rate" or anything else of that sort. Talking to the in-person office, I got an actual response that made more sense and was more honest than the corporate offices; they said the lower rate is to "make the units more attractive to new customers", which is ridiculous because that's effectively punishing existing, long-time customers. I brought this up to them and they said it's like renting an apartment, except when you rent an apartment, you pay LESS over time than NEW tenants do, because you get grandfathered in on a rate; this is the other way around. On top of that, they said it could be breaking the lease by "abusing promotions" (again even though that rate is NOT a promotion, it's the same rate new and existing customers would get for a new unit), if I were to just switch to the exact same unit for the same size. They eventually gave us a discount for 6 months for $50 or so, but this all but admits that they ARE overcharging us to give us such a discount so willingly. Do not rent from this company, unless you have multiple family members and friends willing to help you swap units to their "promotional" rate every 6 or so months. read more

They keep increasing the prices on you as they know most people wont be bothered to move their stuff out or to another location. I started off with $53 for a 5x5 in 11/21 - Raised it in May 22 and every year after that. Its now $124 and they are offering the same space on their site for $79. The rates are constantly going up, for the same space with less amenities. Half the time there is one dolly or none. There is never anyone in the office so when you need something it's a game of phone tag. This morning I'm here and drove down from Long Beach and the door is broken, no property manager here but apparently it will be fixed this afternoon. This storage company just keeps raising their rental fees. I signed up this February 2025 for a 10x10 and they've already raised it three times. It started at $101, then two months later they raised the price to $135. And just this month it went up again to $175. It hasn't even been one year! But if you check their website they are offering the same size for $62. Don't fall for public storage online prices. They get you in and WILL increase their prices soon enough. read more

I lost my keys to my unit and Josh was extremely helpful in explaining the process and timeline for how to get my lock cut and replaced. The on-call locksmith can take up to a couple days as he works between multiple sites, but Josh was sure to call me as soon as the job was finished and provided me new keys upon my return. Public Storage has very similar business model like the health Insurance companies. they will raise your rent every 4 to 5 months by $40-$50 knowing that moving your personal items is inconvenient. I have been with these people for 6 years because I have been out of the country and my rent for a 10X20 space is over $700 per month. I could rent a new space from them today, same size, for $150 per month. The top of the line 10X20 space in the state of California is $350 per month. These people are corrupt, unethical and have no decency. Don't be confused by the young people that work the office. Typically, these are newly college graduates with their first real job. Its not there fault that they work for assholes. If you are considering this as an option, I would take caution, and find a more reputable facility. This place is NOT climate controlled like it claims to be. I got heat exhaustion from spending a couple of hours there. Everything you put in a Public Storage unit Will Get Moldy!! And when I filed an insurance claim, Public Storage closed my space! I received a move out receipt via email the day after I filed my claim. And customer service said the location closed it and put no reason, so they couldn't tell me why. They will raise your rate every 6 months by 25%-40% and the very friendly staff at your location will tell you that customer service can adjust your rate, but they are the RUDEST "customer service" I have ever spoken to and they absolutely will not adjust anything. They will tell you they are happy to close your space and give you a few days to vacate if you're unsatisfied with your rate. Do yourself a favor and do not get a unit with Public Storage. Please try to rent from a different company unless you want to be treated like a number. As recent posts mentioned, they continually raise the price. This last time it was a price jump of over 20% - for service that's been continually declining. They never have carts anymore, there's rarely anyone ever in the office, the elevator's been broken over 2 months leaving only 1 elevator to service all these units, and they must have cut back on their temperature control because it was hot over the summer. So this final price jump forced us to move out. Beware that if you don't pay after the 11th or something like that, they send you to collections. When we moved to a smaller unit, they prorated the amounts. However somehow they never terminated the old unit and we only found out when we received a collection letter for it. We tried to fix it over the phone with no success, so we finally had to go in person. I'll thank the folks who did work there at the time because they ended up sorting it out for us. Upon move out, there is no prorating. Their website doesn't mention any of that. I realize we all sign contracts with terms and conditions, but sometimes a human factor/good customer service has to come in. We moved out on the 2nd and had to pay for the whole month. From the staff there to corporate they just kept saying rudely "it clearly states that in your contract." Funny too how their website gives this location 5/5 - even though there's 1-2 star ratings. read more

False Pretenses upon initial contract they entice the customer w "lock in your rate now" yet the fine print mentions they can raise the rent at their discretion.....which they did, like every 9 months or so. Our rent started at $130 and within three years had increased to $280, more than double. 2. Not "climate controlled" our goods were damaged by heat and the company has not been responsive. Many of our household goods have plastic elements which are now brittle: trashed. We recordeed temperatures inside the facility of 83 deg. We have kept a unit in at Public Storage for several years, but just recently emptied it and closed our account. During the time with the unit, our items were safe and secure and we did not have any problems. On the times that we were to Public Storage, I found the staff very helpful. In particular, on the day that we moved out, they loaned us equipment so that we were able to pack up our items. I have also been there on several occasions to purchase packing materials and find that they are well stocked with everything I needed. read more

Personally I didn't want to waste any more time with this - but hopefully it may help you avoid a mistake and you can choose another business. One staff member was unable to help in any capacity (to do something manually as computer/application wasn't working); I was patient went back a total of 3x (no one present the 2x time) and still not any positive solution. Like all Public Storage chains, you can easily set up for online auto-pay and do everything you need online. They of course have boxes and storage supplies ready to buy in the office at the site, as well as locks. I needed a lock and just bought it from them to save time, the upmark wasn't much, I think it was like $10. **There is a policy where you must pay a monthly insurance fee to have a space, they start at a minimum $11 on top of your rental fee, so factor that in. Again, this is something that is common practice among pretty much all storage places, so don't let that put you off.** And of course sign up online before hand to secure best pricing, including the $1 for first month special and to save time. read more

Not only that I rented a new storage unit and could not access 2nd unit. I still can't access my unit where my belongings are. I am fully paid and requesting refund 2nd unit and still not satisfied. When I got there there was a young lady who helped me whose name was Dalaja who assisted me. She was very helpful and informative on the rates and also escorted me on the property so I can see the site. I didn't feel rushed with her she answered all of my questions with a smile. She was very knowledgeable and so pleasant I felt the need to give public storage a shout out for hiring such a great employee!! Watch out- bait and switch. Read the fine print. In the morning I made an onLine reservation. I showed up that afternoon With my padlock, they said that unit already rented, but they have another one but it takes a different lock, a cylinder lock. I paid rental plus 25$ admins fee. When I said I didn't want the cylinder lock unit (because they want to sell me a lock for $20) . When I asked to cancel and get my money back, they refused. Said it's up to the Mgr that would be in tomorrow. In 2 weeks I got my rental fee back but not the administrative fee. So, basically it cost me $25 to talk with them in person for 25 minutes to become completely dissatisfied with "Public Storage " . I can't recommend this place to anyone. But if you do, read the fine print B4 letting them run your card. And they will give you the run-around trying to up sell you. read more

While the parking is kind of sparse, the prices here are reasonable for renting out a storage unit. The place is climate-controlled, so stuff that you're afraid that may break down will be just fine here. Also, they're open seven days a week, so if you need to either put something away or take it out of storage, they're available. The staff at this location are friendly to talk to. read more

I misplaced my key and was told on Oct 11 to purchase a new lock from them, and I signed a fax to manager authorizing him to cut my old lock, which Anthony assured me would take place within a week. I hadn't received any update, and called around Oct 20. Melissa said it should have been done, there were 3 other requests, and that she would call the manager to find out. She NEVER called me back with any update. When I CALLED AGAIN on Oct 27, 2019, Melissa gave the worst customer service ever, calling me a liar by falsely claiming that Public Storage never gave me a 1 week expectation, and scolding me that I should have called a locksmith. I said I WOULD have called a locksmith if I had been told it would be "anytime"--like seriously up to a month? But I had been told within the WEEK--they failed to live up to their commitment, and then Melissa flat-out lied--in denying I was told what I was told. Horrible service. District manager Tyler is incompetent by not servicing the clients for weeks. Unbelievable. I will be moving all my contents out by the end of the year. read more

Update: after writing this review and being at the facility less than 6 mos my rate was increased by 10%. Horrible business practices! Sliding doors are a constant pain, especially when you are having to make multiple trips back and fourth due to their lack of carts, all while sweating your rear off in their "climate controlled" facility. Asked the person at the desk if there were any extra carts and all I got was "nope, all in use" and no offer of assistance. Location is convenient though, so I guess they have that going for them. If you need something close by and don't plan to need the use of a cart it should be fine. read more
