I'm going to caveat this review by saying I am a Pupatella fan and that my 3 stars is based on the hopes that what we experienced were growing pains for a new location. Because the restaurant just opened 3 weeks ago their are no online or phone orders. You have to order in person. My wife did so and on this particular Friday night it resulted in a 1 hour wait. We order 4 different pies and unfortunately all of the were soggy and doughy with very little char, no crisp, and not much flavor. The topping to crust ratio were also off as the impossibly thin, soft, soggy crust could not hold up. I've had Pupatella when it's good and when it's good it's a solid 4-5 star establishment. Hoping this location works out the kinks because it's walking distance from our house. read more

We love coming here and sitting outside with our dog. We always ask for Ricky. He is attentive and the best server we have had.

Perfectly executed 2nd day of the soft opening, at least from my perspective. Food came out hot and fast. Door greeter, cashier, bartender and servers were all friendly and attentive. Despite walking into the dinner rush, all the busy employees seemed to communicate and work well together like a well-oiled machine. I was nervous the food quality wouldn't have been as good as the Arlington location but the food was on point. Service was even better. Hard to pick a favorite item from the frittura sampler since they're all really good. Best to stick with variety. Diavola pizza has always been my favorite and still is. read more

Pupatella is a nice addition to the Whole Foods shopping center. I was a little overwhelmed by the sheer number of employees inside the restaurant but it makes sense since they are super busy. Definitely catered to be family friendly and take out was available. I ordered the burrata platter, diavola and caivano pizza. This location is currently not taking orders over the phone. I placed the order in person and it took about 20 minutes. Food was solid and would reorder again. read more

Just had the best meal! We went around 3pm and it was a perfect in between rush time! Highly recommend the Margherita pizza if it's your first time, the mozzarella di bufala, tomato sauce and basil are perfection! My husband had the sausage and onion pizza and we shared the panzerotti and Amalfi salad. If you want a cocktail the limoncello martini is a must, they make their limoncello in house! The manager gave us a complimentary cocktail which made things even more enjoyable! We will be back......many times! So happy to have this place so close to our house! Finalmente!!!!! I had lunch here with my client and his mother. We ordered a couple of pizzas, salad, and a pumpkin dessert. The service from our waitstaff, Ricky, was superb! He noticed every detail and was always there to help. The pizzas were made wonderfully! The sauce was fresh, so was the cheese, and of high quality. The thin crispy crust was delightful. The pizza tastes pretty good, and the higher price in my opinion is worth it. You can tell the bread is superior to many pizza breads out there, and if you pay the upcharge for the buffalo mozzarella cheese, you can tell its better quality and tastes better. Their meat toppings are standard, basically the same as you can get anywhere else. But I believe the buffalo mozzarella and several other ingredients including the tomato sauce, are actually sourced from Italy. The pizza dough may also be sourced from Italy I believe, or the oven used for it has volcano ash from Italy. I believe it is similar to the dough whole foods uses on their pizzas. The buffalo cheese is still made using animal rennet, instead of vegetable rennet or microbial enzymes, so it could potentially be easier to digest for some people. Buffalo milk protein is always A2 protein as well I believe. The pizza is a reasonable size for one person. This is the only location I've tried thus far, and I don't know if I will try this location again, due to both the location being out of the way and also the inconsistency with toppings. The first time I got a meatball topping with buffalo cheese, there was a good amount of both cheese and meatballs throughout the pizza. The second time I got the exact same item, there were much less meatballs and less cheese as well, and more empty space where there was just tomato sauce with nothing on top of it. I did not like how much they skimped out on toppings the second time. I do not remember, if they actually have two options for adding cheese and meat to the pizza, like one option to add buffalo cheese/add ground beef, and another option to add "extra" cheese or extra ground beef. There is already a significant upcharge for having buffalo cheese on the pizza, and also for adding ground beef to it, so I don't think it would be proper to skimp out on those toppings in order to force people to pay for extra toppings just to get a reasonable amount. The second time I ordered I think there was only a single meatball on each slice of basically. read more

I have normally liked Pupatella's in multiple locations including this one, however my last experience left a bad taste so much that I opted to cancel my order. In the past they were willing to put four toppings on a pizza with the caveat that they don't recommend it but if the customer wants it they do it with eyes wide open that it may not be as crispy, In my experience it was delicious as it stood with all four toppings. The last time they were there a militant wait staffer would not even take the order, One staffer's need to be right ruined my lunch and my experience with the chain. I can no longer recommend Pupatella's to friends or family but hope this is just an isolated incident. read more

Toppings are not a reasonable charge, and each pizza should come with a set amount of toppings included. Bring a family here and you'll be walking away with a huge bill. The best pizza I've found since my wife and I lived in Italy! Great flavor and cooked to perfection. Be sure to try the zucchini fries too, even if you don't like "normal" zucchini. Ricky took GREAT care of us, even recommending some pistachio gelato for dessert, and it was fantastic. I highly recommend Pupatella Springfield over the one in Merrifield. We've had many meals at each and can say with certainty that the pizza & service @ the Springfield location is 10x better than at the Merrifield location.
