Pupatella is normally good pizza with at least adequate service. Not this one. We've tried it three times. Each time the pizza was marginal on quality. But the service is what really disappointed. We didn't once get what we ordered. The last time they forgot a pizza. I called to complain and was offered a free pizza on my next order. There will not be a "next order". I grew up around New York City so I know what good pizza tastes like. Last weekend I ordered a margarita pizza to go. The sauce and crust were average at best. Cheese was underwhelming. (Honestly it was slightly better than a frozen pizza) With tax it was around $22. And it was tiny! No joke that's a sharpie marker next to the pizza. After I spoke to the delivery driver who said there was only one bag to pick up I called and spoke to manager Juan who was incredibly rude and said "I can't help you." First off these are personal size pizzas, so don't be fooled. If you're charging $18 for a pizza for one person (two pizza required for a couple) then that pizza had better be great! It was not great or really even that good. My meatball pizza with burrata was a goopy mess with barely any meatballs. It's like they took a single meatball, cut it into eight tiny pieces and sprinkled it on. No good and not tasty. My wife has the sausage and onion pizza which tasted alright but nothing really special. For the money these people are charging I would go to "Crust" in Tyson's Corner, they are half the price and twice the flavor! "Crust" all the way, that is great Neapolitan pizza! read more

Our pizzas arrived after a fairly short wait; taste was on par with other Pupatella locations, although the pepperoni distribution (pictured) was a little questionable. The pizza was very good, even better than real Italian pizza we recently ate in Rome. The crust is thin and the outer edges are delightfully fluffy. The ambiance was bad. There were 4 servers crowding around the bar chatting amongst themselves along with the bartender. The restaurant is overstaffed with workers who have nothing to do. They were making retching noises in their conversations and it was kind of unpleasant for us to overhear at our table. I got the meatball pizza (I could count maybe a dozen little meatballs) while my husband got the prosciutto arugula (with the heaping handful of arugula piled in the middle of his pizza, it looked like salad with a pizza underneath). Two suggestions for improvement: 1. Better ways to place orders than having to drive over to the restaurant, walk inside, place the order, and then wait for the pizzas to get made. Hire people to answer phones so people can place orders ahead of time, or have your online ordering system up and running. 2. Have delivery options! Even if it is through one of the many food delivery apps. You could be making a killing when it comes to pizza sales if you offered delivery. West Springfield has so very few pizza places that are not Papa Johns, Dominos, or Paisano's. I want this place to do well, particularly since it opened about a month ago. read more

First and most important, the food is excellent. The pizza has the most flavorful crust I've had in a long time and whatever toppings you choose will be the perfect compliment. I've enjoyed the ham & mushroom pie, and the pepperoni. High marks also to the burrata platter (massive!) and the Napoli salad. Second, every server we've had has been extremely attentive and kind. Someone is training them right! Third, location! For those of us out here in the 'burbs, it's nice to have real pizza nearby. Cons? The ordering system of waiting in line at the counter and then ordering anything additional from a waiter at your table via ipad needs some work. The line is always super long and there are always a ton of servers about, so why not just do the table/ipad for every order? My other con is the price. This is not an inexpensive meal. Roughly $15-20 for an 11 inch pizza, which serves one, plus drinks and any salads or appetizers is a lot. However, the food really is worth it every once in a while. read more

Pizza is subjective; your favorite style - deep dish, NY, etc. - may not be mine. We prefer good neopolitan style pizza, and have long patronized the original Pupatellas in Arlington - the best Neopolitan we've had since..,well, Naples. The newish Burke restaurant is now our go-to spot; the pizza is always superb, the service good, and there's plenty of parking. The only downside: the horrible exit from the parking lot going north on Rolling Road. But that's a small price to pay for our favorite pizza. Pupatella's is a neopolitan style pizza. If you haven't come here, you need to try it out. For a guy, these are probably more like personal pizzas, so prob need a pizza a person. Our favorite pizzas here so far are the margherita and the diavola. The diavola is a spicy salami style pizza. If you're more on the adventurous side, the tomato artichoke is really good. For sides, you can't go wrong with fresh fried mozzarella balls or panzarotti, which are potato croquettes. The chocolate hazelnut gelato is delicous as well. I've been excited to try out this place since they opened a few months ago. The pizza is fresh, made in a brick oven and just downright delicious!!! The croquettes were super delicious as well. This place is a fast casual restaurant. You go up to the counter and order, and then someone brings your food out to you. It can get pretty busy on Friday night and the weekends, so be prepared for a wait if you go then. My only "complaint" was the service. They seemed slow to serve and/or check on water/drinks. There were plenty of servers compared to customers so I'm not sure why. The expeditor also seemed a bit annoyed but maybe he wasn't having a good day. Either way... CHECK THEM OUT.
