This place is heaven for anyone who loves hockey. Being a coach and a player, Total Hockey makes it easy for me to get anything I could possibly need. Everything is well organized and if you can't find what you're looking for here, then you probably shouldn't be playing hockey. Ever piece of equipment is organized by type, size, color, etc. The have walls of gloves and shoulder pads, plenty of helmet and pants options. The skate selection is probably their weakest point. They have plenty of skates to choose from, but not a whole lot of variety. If you're into high end CCM/Baurer then you should be able to find what you're looking for easily. Although a bit on the expensive side for my taste, the stick selection has a lot of depth. Any brand, style or flex you can think of, they have. If you're not a player or coach and just a fan, no worries. Total Hockey has lots of apparel for both men and woman and the kids. Videos, games, video games even are on hand. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable so if you're new to the game or just aren't quite sure what size hockey pants or skates are right for you, they will help you out. read more

Great experience! I wear large skates (11's) and didn't expect them to have many options in my size. I was able to try on some CCM Tacks, Bauer Supremes, and Bauer Vapor 2X's. Went with the Vapors. Wow, this is some store. My nephew is into it. I mean really into it. And he barely comes up to my waist. We looked at biscuits, we looked at breezers, we looked at buckets, and ... we looked at sweaters. I was mesmerized, his mother was experiencing sticker shock, but he was definitely in heaven. I have to admit, whether you are a hockey fan, a potential hockey player, or need to find a hockey related item, this place has just about everything. Including peanut cups. Not only that, everything is easy to find. The service associates were really nice, and they took an interest in "the kid", which was also nice. I especially loved their no pressure sales tactics, too. And I mean that sincerely, there was no pressure, which was good. The only pressure seemed to be coming from the short "Hull-like" wannabe next to us. If he had been my kid, I would have dolled him up in some safe stuff as well as some used gear to see if he really got game, before I shelled out the big bucks. Expect to spend a wee bit 'o cash here to get all dolled up or to get someone you love all dolled up. I've heard it said that it's great if you "look the part". I've also heard it said that it's "better to look good than to feel good". That being said, this child definitely has it going on. Now all he has to do is stay upright. I've been to this store several times and every time I'm there I'm completely ignored. I honestly would have spent a lot more money there but I get annoyed because nobody helps me every time and usually leave. But this time I needed shoulder pads so I bought them and got NO service at all! I would have liked to ask what size I wear, what have good reputations, which ones are comfortable. Anything? Every time I go there these guys act too busy to help me except I'm the only customer in the store and there's usually 2-3 people working there. And I don't go at prime time, I go on my lunch break around 1:00 pm. So the plot thickens, apparently the lack of costumer service starts at corporate. Shortly after my purchase I got email to take a survey so I thought it would a perfect chance to tell them the problems with this store as I've been to other locations & never had a problem. I was hoping / expecting someone would call me and sincerely apologize & try earn my business back somehow. Instead I got a 2 line cookie cutter email apologizing, it was pathetic! Clearly they don't care about there customers. Unfortunately this is the only convenient location for me so I'll continue to get my free sharpening on Tuesday but that's it. If you have an option go to a different location or go to gunzos where they give great customer service, I highly suggest avoiding this store. In the long run I need more equipment and I'll just get it elsewhere who will appreciate my business read more

I came into the store about a month ago and i think the guys name was Anthony and he was nothing but a gentleman helped me with everything answered all my questions. He helped fit my son for skates and sized him up for his stick my son loves his new stick and skates. I'd go back again if that worker was there he was such a great help. read more

My 3 year old daughter decided to try her hand at hockey with the Hoffman Estates Park District, in the middle of Summer no less. Where do you find size 6 toddler ice skates? Total Hockey has them along with shin pads in a size 7 1/2 and everything else the small but aspiring hockey athlete could want in truly midget sizes. Thankfully I bought her skates here because the Hoffman Estates Park District doesn't rent hockey skates in a size smaller than an 8. Good to know!! Their staff is really friendly, informative and did a great job getting my 3 year old into her skates and sizing her tiny feet. They offered to sharpen her skates and we walked out with everything we needed in one visit. Her skates were so good I was able to eBay them for half their price to someone in upstate New York after her class was done and she was hockey'd out. read more

Outstanding customer service. Had to get my son a new helmet, stick, and skates due to growth. The helmet was sized appropriately. The right hockey stick was selected, cut, and then taped. The skates were measured by scan and then custom fitted by baking them in. Also, a compimentry sharpening too. Being a hockey dad that never played hockey this is the place to go. We have been shopping at the total hockey in elmhurst for some time. They have a fantastic group that works there. There prices are fair, and there service is outstanding. Never pressure for a sale, very knowledgeable. My son and daughter are 14, and 13. We will continue to shop here. Get there membership, it's worth it. read more

I needed an eyelet replaced on one of my boots. They've done several for me before, with good results. I just so happened to walk in while both of the store associates (it was about 1 p.m. on a Monday, there was only 1 other gentleman in the store) were tending to some skate repairs/sharpenings. Got their attention and told them what I needed. I was expecting to leave the skate and pick it up in a day or two, per usual. One of them told me he'd have it done in 4-5 minutes. I didn't even have time to wander over to the glove wall in the opposite corner before he came back and said: "here you go, you're all set". I asked him what the damage was, usually these are something like $3 each. He said don't worry about it, have a nice day. I told him I had to pay for it, but he wasn't having it. Now, I'm not saying everyone is going to get things for free, but it's little bits of service like this that keep me coming back. Another time, when buying a new composite stick and I didn't have my broken one with me to get the $10 credit, they gave me the credit and just told me to bring the broken stick in "in a couple days". I brought it in the next day. The store is always clean and bright, great selection and competitive prices, parking's not usually an issue unless you go during the lunch rush, and the staff are very helpful. This is the place to go for any of your hockey needs. read more
