Banana Milk (16oz) & Lady Luck
Crystal H.

Second time giving this spot a chance and tried some new food options! Popcorn chicken is delicious, and the fried tofu was a secret delight with two side sauces that pair perfectly with the crispness of the tofu. The loco moco personally fell flat for me as the burger patties were dry and overcooked. The gravy was yummy though, and I loved the side salad despite the patties. My brother also got a burger that I didn't get the chance to snap a picture of, and he also said the patty was pretty dry. Despite that though, I would still recommend their food options just probably not any of their beef options!

Classic Milk Tea

Located in the Ingleside neighborhood, Purtea offers a variety of tea drinks along with snacks to go with your drink. Upon entering the tea shop, patrons are greeted with a cute floral-themed interior. You can order via their kiosk or in-person with the cashier. We decided to go with their classic milk tea and orange green tea. The classic milk tea was a true representation of milk tea, in which the sweetness and milk was not too overpowering and the tea in the drink still shined through. If you're read any of my reviews before, you know I love my fruit teas, and orange green tea is one of my absolute favorites. The orange green tea from Purtea does not disappoint and I would go back to order it again without a doubt. While I did not sample any of their appetizers and snacks this time around, I'll be sure to do so next time if I'm looking for a bite to eat. If you're in the Ingleside - Ocean Avenue area and find yourself craving tea drinks or snacks, then Purtea is the pur-fect spot for you!

Fried Pork Chop Over Rice

I've had my eye on this spot for a couple of months and I'm so glad I gave it a try. What caught my attention was their fried pork chop over rice. Pretty huge portion for $13.95. I got it with curry sauce and it did not disappoint. The curry didn't taste like the typical Japanese curry with a lot of spices.. it's more like the HK style cafe curries.. idk man but I loved it. I do wish it came with a little more sauce because I'm a sauce drinker LOL. The pork chop had the perfect amount of batter and it was perfectly crispy and seasoned. So tender. Came with a bed of white rice and cabbage/salad. Once you walk in, you can order from the kiosk or online. Then they'll call your order when it's ready. Basically you can choose to dine in or dine out because it comes in a to go container for convenience. Overall, solid spot. 4.5/5. Would come back! 03.06.2024 | Wednesday @12:40pm

Popcorn Chicken

The Green fruit tea here is delicious and the place has a nice cool/homey vibe. I got the Mixed Fruit tea with Boba and my husband got the Passionfruit. The flavor of mine was boldly fruity. My husband's was not as strong as mine, but still very enjoyable. We also got an order of Popcorn Chicken. The flavor was good. But the pieces were smaller without much actual chicken. And they were a little dry. I'd go back for the tea, but pass on the chicken.

The only reason that this place is getting 2 stars is because of their great service otherwise this place is really low bar to me in terms of Boba places. When you walk into this cute little Boba shop, you are nicely treated by one of the servers. I had a hard time choosing a drink and the server gave me some recommendations and decided to get the Ube Iced Milk and the Popcorn Chicken. The Ube Iced Milk was very disappointing. I was basically purple Milk because I could not for the life of me taste any Ube in it. As for the Popcorn Chicken that was a little better being that it was nice and crunchy, but that was it. It really lacked any flavor. Overall, the food and drinks were meh but the service was great.

Take out table (with the only outlet beneath)

Ambience 5/5 Super cute café randomly open in the ocean area. The area has plentiful, meter parking in front, or there are places you can residentially park/parking lots nearby. Not too difficult to find parking :) Now, when I look at cafés, I always think about how good they are to do work (reading, busting out a laptop to get work done, calls, etc.). Overall a super cute café with about seven tables that you can sit at. Along with some bar seating. We came during a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty empty. So there were plenty of seats. Only downside is that there is one outlet in the whole public area and it is under the take-out table. That also is pretty inconvenient since it would have to span across the walkway... I would highly recommend bringing a power strip or a well-charged laptop! The music is also a little bit loud if you wanted to make calls. Overall super cute! Service 5/5 The gal who helped us out was so kind :) they have been open since mid October 2023. Drink included brew time so it was pretty good Tea 4/5 We got a hot tea since it was chilly out, it was the oolong sweetened with half French vanilla and half honey. Overall it tasted like a brewed tea sweetened - nothin too special and a tad watery. Kinda like a homemade tea. But maybe it's cause we made the alteration of full French vanilla to part honey?? But maybe the cold drinks are better! I'll be back to try the popcorn chicken next time!

Amazing drinks and food, the quality of milk tea is excellent, everything's fresh, not the chemical powder stuff at all ! The owner is extremely nice and sweet, this is the type of people make food with care, she makes food the way she would cook for her family. What a delightful spot to have some boba and snacks ! 5 stars !

Grilled Pork Chops Over Rice w/ black pepper gravy & Loco Moco w/ two beef patties, over easy egg | $13.95 each

4.5 STARS ANOTHER boba shop in the city?! I can virtually hear the *scoffs* and see the *eye rolls*. I feel you! I do. But, hear me out. Purtea is not just any boba shop, they have a full kitchen and are serving budget-friendly rice plates for $13.95...with enough food for two meals. Softly opened last month, Purtea (FKA Not Latte in Inner Richmond) has merged with Mealtime Cafe. They're open for takeout, delivery, and indoor dining. I hope proper signage is the works. Unless someone is walking by and/or actively looking for Purtea, it's easily missed. Had I not seen a yelp ad, I wouldn't have known they were there. O R D E R I N G There's one kiosk or order ahead via Muncho. Note: For special requests, e.g. meat temperature, you'll have to alert the staff. There's no tip option on the kiosk. Hope the owner(s) consider adding one for those who don't carry cash. Delivery available via 3rd party apps with no markups. M E N U DRINKS * Fruit teas, milk teas, fruit latte, milk teas, lattes, coffee, etc. Prices: $3.50-$6.95. --Toppings: Housemade boba, crystal boba, lychee jelly, mango jelly, etc (+50 cents each). No grass jelly. --Sweetness: Regular, less sugar, no sugar, extra sugar --Dairy alternatives: Soy, almond, oat (+50 cents) FOOD * Snacks: Fries, mozzarella sticks, popcorn chicken, egg rolls, fried potstickers, wings, etc. ($5.75-$12.50) * Burgers & Sandwiches w/ fries ($12) * Rice plates: Loco moco, teriyaki chicken, grilled pork chop/chicken steak, fried pork chop/chicken steak, etc. ($13.95) O U R O R D E R * Grilled Pork Chops w/ black pepper gravy ($13.95): https://tinyurl.com/6veva8n6 A HK cafe type dish - a heaping bed of hot, fluffy rice crowned with two slabs of grilled pork chops. The pork chops (2) were tender with a nice seared crust, tho aggressively seasoned for my preference. Since it's served with a side of rich, savory gravy, there wasn't need for much salt. The accompanying crisp cabbage + corn slaw with a creamy dressing helped balanced the meaty dish. * Loco Moco w/ two beef patties, over easy egg ($13.95) --Requested medium rare but was told they can only do medium. This wasn't my dish but I had several bites and it was my fav of the two rice plates. While thin, the angus beef patties had a beautifully seared, deep mahogany crust with a slightly pink center. Moist and flavorful. The accompanying gravy had this commercial taste/feel about it but with the beef patties and perfectly cooked rice, there was something just so simple and satisfying about it. The over easy egg is over hard so I would request a sunny side up egg to ensure a runny yolk. We could only finish half our plates and had enough for a second meal. S E R V I C E Even it's contactless ordering, the staff is very kind. Asked if we had questions and offered a sample of their pineapple green tea (skipped it since it was too late to have caffeine). With no line, our order was ready in 10 minutes. A M B I A N C E Low-key, modern with 5 tables and counter seating. P A R K I N G Street and residential parking; easy during non-peak hours. Overall, Purtea is serving up tasty rice plates that's easy on the wallet. If you're looking for a filling Asian comfort meal, give them a try!

Popcorn chicken, dirty mango fruit, dark roast oolong
Carolyn M.

Affordable milk teas and a good sized food menu along with a cute indoor area and a lot of seats available for a boba shop! The worker was very nice, but our drinks took a while to come out on a calm Friday afternoon. I wanted to like the drinks more than I did, but I'm willing to keep trying a couple more. Dark roast oolong latte: not very sweet at regular sweetness, which was good! And the flavor of the tea was also good! But it was watery, so that was disappointing. Dirty mango fruit drink: tastes like what you would expect for a drink made of fresh mango, brown sugar, and milk. Not very sweet either. The popcorn chicken was too salty and had the smallest popcorn pieces of any popcorn chicken I've ever ordered. There was more popcorn than chicken, tbh. It also comes with a sauce, which surprised me. For basically 10 dollars, I don't think it's worth it.

Purtea took over where the Mayflower Restaurant once was, nearby the karate/music place. They're a new boba shop on Ocean, but they're not new really a new business. They recently moved here from 6th Ave and just celebrated their grand opening this past weekend. To celebrate their grand opening this week, their promo is buy TWO drinks and get a free drumstick (kinda random). I awkwardly came in on grand opening day, on grand opening time. They open 1p-9p, which is a little late in my opinion. Kinda wished they opened around 11:30a. The place was empty with a couple people but family & friends started to trickle in to celebrate this new beginning for them. I almost thought the owner was someone I knew cause the design of the place and the menu are almost EXACTLY the same as the After Hours Bar (before they changed ownership and it became a boba shop too) - I had to do a double take on yelp! One of the family members was talking to me and pointed out who the owner was, but it wasn't someone I know. The family member told me their family history where they were freedom swimmers escaping from China and they're so proud their niece opened up this place. It was very interesting! For first day, they did not have honey boba or jasmine milk tea available. The menu is a little overwhelming, as they have all sorts of drinks (lattes/coffee, smoothies, milk tea, etc) and bar-style finger foods. There's a little something for everyone like when you want boba tea and your partner wants a coffee. I ordered the Mixed Fruit Green Tea (passionfruit, orange, mango) w/ crystal boba. The drinks are competitively priced and it was good. It was sweet and refreshing. I also ordered popcorn chicken w/ a sriracha mayo dipping sauce and the popcorn chicken pieces were 'bite-sized' and tinier compared to other places I've been, but it was good and hit the spot. I'd definitely come back again, as the food/drinks are good and the place is aesthetically pleasing. Glad to have a good boba spot in the neighborhood and hope to see them stay.

Hot Ube Latte 10/10 I wish it was a little hotter though.

First time dropping into Purtea. One associate gave out free samples to us as we walked in and made us feel welcomed. They were very helpful and generous. We also got popcorn chicken and the flavor and crispiness was unexpected from this small boba shop. 10/10 would get again. The store had cute decor and the ambiance was nice. Definitely would come back here to hangout or study.

Hope D.

This place is cute and the drinks are pretty. The drinks aren't the best; a bit watered down and barely tastes like tea. The service is great, drinks come out pretty fast. I won't be coming back.

Hot Jasmine Milk Tea + corn dog
Neeks M.

I enjoy doing work on my laptop here. Wifi connection is good and there's enough seating in here. PLUS, they're open until 9pm. The drinks are good. Food is good for what it is, nothing too exciting. The corn dog tasted like a corn dog, but the honey mustard sauce made it fire. My drink was a hot jasmine milk tea. Perfect piping hot temperature but still able to drink as soon as I got it! This my go to spot for when I need to be productive after work.

Hi! I purchased a punchcard for 10 drinks when you were Not Latte on 6th Ave. I barely got to use it because you moved locations quite soon after. I just wanted to double check to make sure I can use the punchcard at the new location? Thank you! 🙏

Yes we will still honor the punch cards from Not Latte 6th Ave.

They also sell barako bean roast blends for $20 in case you wanted to make it at home! Since they use Filipino barako beans, I had to order their Ube iced latte and Ube hot chocolate! The coffee had a slightly fruity yet chocolatey undertone that made it really delicious with the Ube! I do think that the coffee had a lighter taste to it, so it let the ube taste stand out more. My favorite was the Ube hot chocolate because it was super decadent and warming! I'll definitely be back at Ballast Coffee to study more and to also try their Ube Mocha as well as other drinks!
