I headed over to Ohio to meet friends for lunch and they wanted to go to Quaker Steak & Lube. My friend is originally from Pennsylvania, and this is where this chain restaurant was started. I am not a fan at all of chain restaurants, but this one was decent. I started out with their hot wing challenge. Now please keep in mind when it comes to heat, I am a freak. I have never eaten anything that was to hot for me. I have defeated every heat challenge without breaking a sweat. With the disclaimer, this hot wing challenge was a walk in the park. However, overall the wings were cooked perfectly and the sauce had a nice touch of heat and great flavor. I had a salad and my date had the chicken sandwich. Across from me was two burgers. Everything looked good and people seemed to be happy. There was plenty of grilled chicken on my salad, The chicken was seasoned well and had good flavor. The rest of the salad was well constructed and help fill me up. I would overall give the food a 3 (above average). There was two reason I decided to go with a four for this chain restaurant. One reason was the prices. Overall, the prices were decent! Any up-charges were immediately explained at the time of order. The other reason was the service. Our party had a very attentive waitress who was detail oriented. She seemed happy and appeared to enjoy working at this establishment. Overall, the place was clean and well taken care of. The ambiance was casual with a sorta sports bar flair. There aren't many chain restaurants worthy of either my time or money, but Quaker Steak & Lube meets my standards. Everyone loves wings and Quaker Steak has some of the largest around. My recent trip was really good; got a table fast, service was good, and the food came out really fast! I do think they go quite light on the sauce and then charge extra if you want more. Seems like a regular issue so not sure what's up with that. Every time I pass Quaker Steak and Lube on the freeway the parking lot is full. I open the coupon books that come in the mail, and there are coupons for Quaker Steak and Lube. I have been curious for some time, and yet it has taken me a year to try this place. Start you engines race fans, and speed into Quaker Steak and Lube. We were sure glad that we did. While we are not race fans, the racing themed decor was fun to look at. There are full sized race cars suspended from the ceiling. Food was hot and fresh. My husbands mac & cheeseburger was the best thing we tried. While I wasn't particularly fond of the sauce on the Lubeburger (a little too acidic for my tastes,) I enjoyed the way the mushrooms were cooked. Best of all, the burger was actually cooked the way I ordered it. My children liked that their food came in a paper race car. My son really liked his ranch wings. Menu options go beyond burgers and wings. Salmon dishes, salads and steaks are also available. The size of their menu surprised me. I look forward to trying more of their menu options in the future. We decided to try Quaker Steak & Lube for dinner tonight so that we could eat outside. When we walked in, my husband asked for a table outside and instead of taking us to a table, the young man at the front said to "sit anywhere we wanted". We chose a table next to a family on the side instead of the very back. The waitress was checking on their table and when she was done she did NOT come over to great us or give us menus. Another couple came and sat down on the other side of the family and the waitress greeted them and went back inside and never acknowledged us. We had been there for about 15 minutes by then so we just got up and went next door to La Piñata and got the best service we could have ever asked for. I grew up in Quaker Steak country, and this location holds on well to its roots. It's true, the prices have gone up, but the sauces are what make the Tuesday all-you-can-eat worth it. The wings come in groups of five, and you eat until you can't do it anymore. The medium sauce is my all-time favorite, but there are plenty more (especially if you're not a pansy like me). The Kentucky Bourbon Glaze is something they never had back at the mother ship, and it's not bad. If you don't know where to start, the Golden Garlic is a great first taste. Recommended! read more

My family and I stopped in for some dinner before a Reds game last night, we were all very pleased with our choice! The decor and atmosphere was very cool with all the bikes hanging all around, the little arcade area in the front entrance was pretty cool as well. Our service was very educated on the menu and very friendly, the food took awhile to get to us, but we weren't into too much of a hurry so I let it slide, haha. I tried the breaded boneless wings with the original bbq sauce, very tasty! My family and I all enjoyed our meals very much! We stopped at the 'The Lube' for lunch on our way to Jungle Jim's. Though we weren't driving a muscle car or obeying a 55 MPH speed limit, we certainly did get the old gas station feel with the numerous cars and motorcycles hanging fro the ceiling. Our two kids (2 and 4) especially enjoyed the work put into rescuing and display of the vintage vehicles. Knowing the wings are good, we tried the a little something different, with the BBQ O-String Sandwich. The tender shaved sirloin, sautéed red peppers, mushrooms and onions sauced with "Original" BBQ, topped with fried onion strings and melted Cheddar-Jack cheese came out as a bit of soggy mess on a hoagie bun. Don't get me wrong, tasted great, just a bit hard to eat and enjoy without creating that sticky mess. Kids where overjoyed with there cardboard race car lunch plate/box, so that is a win. In the end, founder Jig and Moe accomplished there dream in creating a '70s gas station culture were you could enjoy good food and vintage muscle cars. Had always seen this place off of the interstate but never had stopped. Finally got to stop this time. Food was good. Service was good. Prices were okay. My husband was thoroughly impressed and super happy about the beer prices! $2 draft beers! And we went on a Friday which there was a $3 Stella special and you got to keep the glass. He was thoroughly impressed. I like at the end they give you twizzlers instead of the boring mints some restaurants give. I also like you get the choose between celery OR carrots with your wings. The only reason I almost knocked a star off is because the wings are called jumbo wings on the menu. But after we got them, they looked average size compared every other place that has wings. Disappointing. We've been eating here since the place opened. I'd heard the menu had gone downhill in the past year and sad to say, it's true. We had appetizers and noticed the changes from previous times. The quesadillas used to have sauce drizzled on top and were not so greasy. The pretzel breadsticks were not as flavorful or as fresh. Beef tacos had a good flavor but the fire roasted salsa was relatively blandly flavored. Each taco had TWO corn shells on it which overwhelmed the beef. I removed the outer one before eating and am assuming the extra was for soaking up meat/sauce juices. Jalapeno lime slaw was bland and sour, not lime-tasting. The salad with chicken tenders was good. Generally speaking, it's as if QS&L took a page from the Delta Airlines 1993 food finances memo - "we'll save $1.4 million a year if we stop serving a piece of lettuce with each meal!" That's what I think happened here with the lack of quesadilla sauce, other small niceties, and menu cut-backs. I do miss the "thermometer" graphic from previous menus which easily showed the heat levels wing salsas/rubs. I understand the need for space on the physical menu, but wings are one of your hero menu items and you should help them shine better. Service was friendly and spotty. Could be a newer server or a short-staffed night. I'm giving you the gift of feedback. I hope you use this to improve your foods. I came here for a low key lunch with some friends. It was great. Their dough pretzels are great. We shared food throughout the table and everyone enjoyed their food. Our server was very nice as well. We came on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. They have an outdoor area which would be nice during the summertime. read more

Second time ever eating here. Went once right after they opened. Different experiences both times. This visit was on the day after Black Friday. I was expecting to walk into a "slammed" busy place and was surprised that the place was kinda dead/slow. We were seated immediately. The other reviews here complaining about the staff are about right. My wife and I sat at least 10 or so minutes before anyone acknowledged our presence in the bar area where we were seated. Finally our waiter stopped by not to help but to say he'd be with us in a few. I watched him help all his other tables and then finally came over to get our drink orders. When it came time to order, he took my wife and daughters and started to walk away without taking mine... had to call him back. Don't get me wrong... he was nice and friendly... it just felt like he wanted to be doing anything else but working/serving. The food was actually pretty good tasting. I had a tender and onion ring combo. About the right portion. Tenders were tasty. Maybe a tad greasy but tasty. The rings were good. Wife and daughter split the chicken loaded nachos which they enjoyed. Really cannot complain about the food. Our first visit we walked away not caring for the food so this was a nice surprise. Overall... nothing to write home about. Good food [for eating deep fried "bar food"]. Staff could use a pep talk and realize that attention to detail and staying motivated leads to better tips. Stopped here a couple times over the past month. Food was pretty ok, not great but not awful. I had ribs the first visit and chicken tenders the second visit. Food was hot and well prepared but taste was pretty average. Service was not so great. Several servers on the floor but they seemed to gather around the bar area and hang out instead of checking their sections and tables. Both visits servers forgot items from kitchen and had to be asked multiple times for sides and condiments. Not the worst service but definitely not the best. Overall I would say this was maybe a bit below average. Probably not a place I would recommend or frequent often after these couple of visits. read more

However, behind the bar was an obnoxious bartender (balled with gray beard wearing a 31 jersey) cussing (f-bombs, a$$hole and $hit several times very loudly) slapping other employees on the ass and sitting on the cooler behind the bar with his ass in the ice. I came here for the Tuesday night $12 all you can eat wings. I didn't love waiting around for an hour to get seated, but kind of expected something like that given the" special" deal. The place was packed when my friends and I got there, and we ended up having to stand at the bar. I have no need to return to this place. When we got there, it was loud, and there were a lot of kids there. It reminded me of the beers I've had at the three frat parties I've attended, which means mehk. I've heard a great deal about this place from friends and they all raved about the wings so we took the family to go check it out. Did they have the best wings in town? Or the best ribs in town? Maybe the best giant fudge brownie in town? Well no, BUT everything was really good! It isn't often that an eatery does so well at so many things plus the service was great, prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was welcoming to everyone. I have ate at QSL many times. The atmosphere is great especially on Sunday and Wednesday when they have classic car and motorcycle cruise n's. They are the only place I know of that uses fresh chicken instead of frozen chicken dumped in a fryer. There option of sauces is also nice. I have tried many different flavors and they are all good. My only recommendation is to ask for extra sauce (sometimes there is little on the wings). On a side note: I read the bad reviews. They are mostly related to the burgers and ribs? QSL is a place for wings, why would you expect a good burger from a wing restaurant? read more

The service in here sucked from the start. We waited at the front door for 5 minutes before a server advised us she was not on the clock and pointes to the areas that still had servers. When the server Kelly arrived at our table she did not introduce herself and kind of just stood there looking at us. When we asked about the drink special she had no idea and when we advised her it was our first time here and she just smiled and did not offer any recommendations. My 17 year old son had a heart valve replaced 6 months ago. When my family and I asked to sit outside we did not know smoking was aloud. After we ordered our drinks and realized we had to move inside, I found the waitress to let her know we had to move. Her response was to throw away my son's drink and our sauces samples. She then proceeded to talk to other wait staff in a very nasty, dirty and rude way right next to a table full of patrons, and not know we were behind her. When I had enough I demanded to see the manager who was anything but sympathetic. Yes I was angry, but have never been treated that way. Quaker Steak does not deserve good customers, as they do not know how to treat them well. We will never go back, and recommend that you go elsewhere! There's just something about this place that we love. The boneless wings are great, the sauce selection is impressive, and the service is always consistent (from our experience). It's a fun place and our daughter loves to play video games while waiting on a seat. The appetizers are also great. The Buckeye BBQ sauce is my favorite, but definitely isn't for you if you're not a fan of spicy foods. The loaded fries and soft pretzels are our favorite sides. They serve celery with the wings. The atmosphere is fun and casual. They offer outdoor seating and also host bike nights during the summer. The dining room is large, but on the weekends there is typically a wait. Went here to watch the Bengal's game. The atmosphere was lively for game day. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I ordered wings with garlic medium sauce, loaded fries and a skinny limeade rita. The food was tasty and the drink was very good. The wings had a good amount of sauce. The loaded fries were delicious it had bacon, cheddar cheese and green onions. I ordered a side of sour cream. I always have an enjoyable time at this location. I saw advertisement for unlimited wings for $14.99 on Tuesday's. The parking lot was crowded but we did not have to wait to be seated. I will plan to go back here for game day festivities. read more

This place is a good regional wing and sports bar. The wings are decent sized and the sauce selection is the best around. You will not find more options anywhere in the city. The rest of the menu is better then average bar food. The burgers are big and juicy and the appetizers and fun and filling. My wife has tried the salads and said they are pretty good too, I think the issue for this place is the location. The trip for dinner is a bit more expensive then some of that area's typical places and I think that has caused some low reviews. That and the staff there is not quite as good as other Quaker Steak and Lubes I have been to. Even the one across town in Milford seems to have friendlier bartenders and servers. Came here with my boys for dinner...I ordered the philly cheesesteak, and my boys had wings and a burger. First this is a very busy spot, but we were seated quickly. I will say our waitwr was a bit slow. He came and got us our drinks and took our order but it took a long time to get our meal. I think we waited almost 20 minutes.
