Elsie was my server and she was excellent. She was very attentive and kind. The burger was juicy and delicious and the garlic Parmesan fries were great! I wish they had pizza though. Tucked away, off the main Second street drag, you'll find an over-hauled new, freshly remodeled Quinns that is worth discovering- Very good craft beer assortment, good burgers and bar specialties, its a good place to watch the game and grab a bite. My husband and I were walking down 2nd street on a Saturday afternoon and spotted this place. We stopped by and our decision was swiftly validated! There is a great assortment of craft and popular beers. It's not quite a pub, but the atmosphere is lively but without being crowded, which was the perfect speed for us. This is such a great neighborhood bar. Lots of locals and regulars. The staff are very friendly and know how to make sure everyone is having fun. They have an excellent large rotating beer selection and a couple of other options (wine, seltzers). Lots of TVs for sports. The food is pretty darn good too. The staff are super welcoming to moms/dads with young kids (gender neutral bathroom has a baby changing table) and have plenty of outdoor seating. Whoa, I just stumbled across Quinn's Myspace page...and let's just say this is definitley a case of "Don't judge a bar by it's Myspace page." Yeah, I said Myspace. No, this isn't 2004. No, I don't have any idea why they're still using Myspace. I do know this though, their photo album is full of photos of boobs and drunk girls. Sure, that may sound like a good time, but call me a stick in the mud - because it ain't my scene. Which is actually why I LIKE Quinn's. This tiny little Irish pub has always seemed supremely quaint to me... luckily I've never been there during one of these infamous Myspace photoshoot evenings. However, I have been there on a few evenings for a pint while I wait for a seat at Open Sesame. I've also been for some day drinking on a Sunday. Service has always been stellar, and they've been relatively douchebag-free, contrary to what their Myspace page may lead you to believe. I went here for lunch and got the burger special - about $10 for burger, fries, and a 16 oz beer. (You get a Coors or some other similar beer as a part of the special, but you can upgrade to a craft beer for about $3 more.) I was not impressed by the burger or fries at all. The burger was overcooked and lacked any distinct flavor. The bun didn't taste fresh at all. And, the fries were soggy - this was actually the first time that I didn't finish my fries at a restaurant. Being the fat kid that I am, this says A LOT. I was unimpressed by the quality of the food, especially since there are so many other good burgers on 2nd Street. Don't get me wrong, it didn't make me sick nor did I hate my food. It was fine and edible, but it left much to be desired. The service was fine. The atmosphere was whatever, I didn't care for it. It wasn't as fun or welcoming like some of the other places on 2nd Street, such as Simmzy's. I'm giving this place 2 stars for the location and the lunch special pricing. Since I don't plan on coming back, I can't justify giving it three stars. REVIEW EDITED: Normally, I don't spend time editing my reviews. But I think this warrants an edit. This local bar is about the size of an airplane bathroom. However, they have a good selection of beers on tap and the drinks are cheap. Two goblets of beer and two mimosas were only $22 dollars! That's a bargain! The staff was also nice and friendly and to add to the appeal, they have a hunting arcade game, some poker machine bolted on the bar, a modern jukebox, and several large TV's. The crowd is a mix of people waiting to eat at Open Sesame (like us) and some local patrons (mostly women 45+ years old hussied up - RAWR). read more

Good alternative beer bar just off of 2nd St. We stopped by on Sunday afternoon during the game. It was full but not packed and we were able to squeeze in for a couple of beers. Very cool bartender working who was very attentive and on top of her game. For being as busy as it was she was able to quickly get our drinks and even stopped by our table once to check on us. This was a pleasant surprise. I hadn't been here in years so I decided to come with a friend for a quick drink. The new owners have managed to change the vibe of the bar in general. I love all the craft beers they have on tap and many are not necessarily domestic. I like the idea of being to try new beers I haven't even heard of before. They also have pickled eggs, which is a major bonus. I haven't eaten anything else there. The bartender (Christy?) and her mom are awesome especially when they have to throw everyone out at 10PM (Belmont Shore rule... they're on a side street). In general, the place has fun clientele and usually has a game on if you're into that. Met friends here a few times. Cool little neighborhood pub to watch sports, drink beers, and get a bite to eat. Which is what I was hoping to do tonight. I came in solo and sat at a table. I was ignored by the two bartenders, who were talking with the 3 guests at the bar top. As I sat at a table waiting to order or even be acknowledged, 3 more guys walked to a warm welcome from the bartenders, beers poured and tabs closed out. While I still sat there waiting, another guy walked in, to another warm welcome from the bartender, handed her some food and left. I finally decided to walk up to the side of the bar, and ask the same bartender if I can order a beer. I left after she ignored my question while she poured cocktail sauce on her oysters. Like I said the place could be cool, if your in the "in" crowd here. If you're not, then the staff is flat out unwelcoming. Around Belmont Shore area is the cool 2nd Street scene, where college kids and young at heart adults love to hang out. Of course there are bars, and then there are bars, like hole in the wall watering holes, and Quinn's is a good one, but it may have something lacking.. Location is on the side of the Nieto Building, which is a good thing. It brings in traffic from the street where its not as busy, and it brings in most locals than most bars on 2nd street. I came here plenty of times when I was at CSULB, but of course I didn't have the opportunity to yelp about it until now. Quinn's is a great hang out space, despite a small inside area, but beer selection is not bad. The grill part of Quinn's, I have not yet experienced so I cannot express any deets on that, but what seems to be lacking may be liveliness of the place. It doesn't need hip hop or crazy loud music, just a bit more vibe.. Maybe a new splash of paint on the walls, or an updated music jukebox thing, I don't know, but it could use a boost, but nothing radical. Its still a cool kick back place. Perks: Beers on tap, cocktails, and a food menu. Great locals spot. Surrounded by a Cigar shop and great dining and shopping around the corner. Downsides: A bit rustic, but vintage feels. Bathroom is a one toilet bathroom, so be patient you may have to wait for a vacancy. KNOW before you GO: Outside Parking is meter only, but there is public parking and street parking nearby. First time here ! My future roomie Kayla works here and she was killing it! I don't just say that because I "know" her because technically i just met her today. She literally was the only server/ bartender on and people kept walking in and she was doing so good! I'm a server so brownie points for being on it. I had the beef sliders sub chicken and SO GOOD. My husband and I were having a date night out on 2nd st . We decided to stop by and have a beer while watching the game ... the bartender basically told us we couldn't sit next to each other because her mom was sitting there so my husband had to stand . I left to use the restroom and I left two charms my husband had just bought me and the manager decided to throw them away ..... when I came back to my seat I was sitting in between two Caucasian woman . They were very bothered that I was sitting at the bar . I asked where my charms were to the bartender and she proceeded to say she didn't see them ... funny thing is I actually took a pic of the charms on the counter before I left to the restroom . Both Caucasian woman told me to shut up about my charms and one of them called me out of my name because I told her to stay out of my business . I am latinx and my husband is Asain and we felt very discriminated and uncomfortable here . After dinner as we were walking back to our cars we walked in to this place. Cool spot with a good selection of beers on tap. Clean location and the bartender was very nice and helpful when choosing a beer. TV's playing sports highlights around the bar and music selection is cool. Quite honestly, I've never noticed this place on 2nd street, and considering how many times I've been in Belmont Shore, I am totally shocked that I haven't stumbled upon it. It definitely is somewhat of a dive bar, but with a good classic feel to it. They have awesome photos on the wall of many different big time sports players, including huge moments in the history of various sports. They have a few TVs in there which let us watch the Rams' first game back in LA (exhibition). Beers were decently priced, and we had a good conversation with a few locals. Definitely the type of place I would want to return to. It is hidden because it's located on a side street, but I was impressed when I walked in because it's off the beaten path but so worth it. I have been coming to Quinns for a while now, they recently installed a juke box, and I wanted to play some songs I like to listen to as well as others. Come to find out that they blocked some of my favorite songs? Who does that? To me that means the owner has some serious control issues or he's not open to new upcoming artists that people could be into. Since they remodeled this is a contradiction to the goal of being a modern bar. The staff is absolutely amazing! LC takes good care of the customers! I being one of them. She's an awesome bartender! The food is good! I had the chicken teriyaki bowl and it had so much flavor in it. Shout out to the chef that prepared it! It was definitely made with love. They have a great selection of beer at a really good price. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is due to the juke box. It really makes a statement on the perspective of the owner of the establishment. So disappointed - I'm a local and usually the service is great - stopped in at 11, they close at midnight, and NO ONE would even acknowledge that I sat down. Left without being served, plenty of other pubs in the neighborhood. Completely ignored by the staff, literally looked at me and looked away. I understand closing if it's slow, but there were 4 or 5 people at the bar and at least tell me if you've closed for the evening. Being ignored by the staff is completely unacceptable. read more

Disclaimer: If fractions were allowed, I would give Quinn's a 3.5. However, since fractions are not allowed, I will round up to 4. This place is pretty solid, the food is good, and they have a good number of beers on tap. If the food quality is stepped up a notch, it would be 5 stars. There is a lot of competition on 2nd street, so a place in this area def needs to compete. There are a couple of tvs, and bar area seating as well as small circular tables that fit 4. There is a dedicated fridge with bottled craft beer. The only problem is that the bottled craft beer is a little over priced. For food we had a sampler and the Black'n Bleu Burger. As I previously mentioned, both were good, but just a a star away from awesome. We came on Friday just before 8, and there were two tables opened. About 10 minutes later all the seats were taken. The amount of people inside the restaurant was just about right, not too crowded such that it's standing room only, but def not empty. This is a place that I normally frequent quite often. This evening while minding my own business along with a friend that was just there to have a cocktail and dinner we had some strange gentlemen start yelling at us with profanity laced epithets that came out of nowhere. The gentleman seem to be intoxicated along with the fact that he seem to be under the influence of something else. He began yellingAt myself along with another friend basically out of nowhere claiming that we had said something about him when we didn't even know he existed. As I stood up to see what the issue What. The situation worse the gym and began to yell at me and pulled out a knife. The other part is it appears to be that the gentleman that pulled out a knife on us for no apparent reason was a regular at the queens establishment. Such a strange situation and as a person who frequents that location quite often I definitely won't be visiting that place again. Got there 20 min early and they saw us waiting. They opened 10 minutes late. Keep in mind this place opens for lunch at NOON! Told we would have to wait 10 min for the grill to heat up. No offer of a drink or anything. Ordered two $8.50 burger beer fry specials. 37 minutes later they showed up. The grilled onions are normally caramelized with Guinness beer. Not this time. The place was once worth the 26 miles I drove. Not any longer. Why? The owner opened the chilled glass cooler to find a to go order from the night before. The smell of that food was almost instant and I was 15 feet away. There was a health department sign on the front glass for EXACTLY that infraction; improper food storage. Now I understand why my beer glass smelled like onions. The bathroom is best described as a Petrie dish. The walls are supposed to be white and are freaking nasty. The piss soaked seat and toilet was yellow with crystalized urine. The doorways throughout the place are covered with nasty hand prints from the kitchen. The sad part was the bathrooms were just cleaned. Suggestions for the owner. Close for a day or hire a professional cleaning crew and sanitize the whole place from top to bottom. Remove all the cheap paper special signage and make a new menu with them. Your burger special is worth $10-12 dollars easy if you add more fries and gourmet pickles. Raise your prices! Improve professional appearance by being in a uniform of some kind and ready on time and open an hour earlier. You have mega potential to be the best burger pub in so cal.
