This is the "Quiznos Subs" in the Harbor Gate shopping center in Richmond,CA. It's located at Marina Bay Parkway & Meeker Ave, just south of the I-580 freeway. Recently, a fellow Yelper asked me if I remember Quiznos Subs. Yes, what happened to them? So I did some research, and found out there's three left in the San Francisco Eastbay. They're in Richmond, Hayward, and Fremont. Yesterday I had some free time in Richmond, so I drove out looking for the Quiznos Subs. It's in a familiar place, a strip mall called Harbor Gate shopping center. It was about 2:30pm, when I walked there were already a group of customers at the counter. The place was clean, and had the familiar decor I remember. One lady was working behind the counter. She was doing everything- taking orders, prepping the sandwiches, running the toaster, and then dressing and wrapping. Then when it was time to pay, suddenly this young man pops up and mans the cash register. I order an 8" Tuna Melt on Italian White. I watch the process as the sandwich is placed on a conveyor belt and goes into the toaster. I step up to pay while I'm waiting for my sandwich. The cashier tells me the total ($13.16), and I hand him $14 cash. The cashier said...."Oh, you're paying cash? Hardly anyone uses cash anymore!" Then there was a pause, like he expected me to switch to plastic. I handed him the cash. He said he has to switch his cash register to accept cash and cancel the expected CC transaction. Then he repeated that hardly anyone uses cash here. I noticed it took him a long time to figure out my change. How was the Tuna Melt sandwich? Delicious! That toasted bread was the star of the show. OMG....warm, lightly crispy bread, with a delightful aroma. The tuna salad and all the condiments stayed in the sandwich. Nothing came spilling out. Could of been a 5-star experience, but you need to work on your customer service skills and cash handling. ---------------------------------------------- Misc Notes: - free parking in lot - Anchor businesses in shopping center are CVS Pharmacy and Starbucks. - across the street from CA State Dept of Public Health - Near I-580 & Marina Bay Parkway ramps

Feb 26, 2025 3pm 3.8 stars…read more We stopped by for a Hot Pastrami and Swiss sandwich (we ended up with "The Point Richmond") and a coke. $19 and change. There is a learning curve. The sandwiches on the menu all have cute names like "The Point Richmond" and "The New York". That if nice except that- for example... if you want a Hot Pastrami with Swiss, you need to read every ingredient of every sandwich until you find "The Point Richmond". The menu lists it having hot pastrami though it doesn't have Swiss. We ordered that. The Point Richmond pastrami was warm. I was thinking it was just warm rather than hot because of, how you say...oh yeah.. Physics. The relitively smallish amount of meat ratio to cool moist vegetables and room temperature Dutch Crunch (Roll) bread couldn't possibly hold heat for more than the minute it took us to get to the outdoor seating. When I looked at the on-line ordering menu at home later. I read that if I want Pastrami and Swiss, I should have ordered The New York, as it has Pastrami (though not heated) and Swiss. I also found out you can order Extra Meat for $3.49 or Double Meat for $5.49. A first timer here would have no clue that they should order extra meat if they want a hot sandwich. The sandwich was fresh and enjoyable. The cashier and the deli person were friendly. It was nice to visit Pt. Richmond after these few years. I might go back and choose the Build Your Own option. "I'll have a Pastrami and Swiss please. Double meat, double Swiss cheese, with horseradish and sharp mustard on the side if you got em. On a Dutch Crunch roll. Heat that bad boy to the hilt please?"

Typically always grab sandwiches to-go, but pre-pandemic this spot was always bustling inside. While the Mr.Pickle (chicken breast, bacon, avo, cheese) is our typical order, I noticed on this lunch trip they now have wraps/any sando can be made into a wrap. I ordered a Cali Tuna (tuna salad, Swiss cheese, avo, cucumber) in a spinach tortilla..delicious! Fresh, crisp, and felt like it came from an old school mom and pop deli...man, how I miss those! Each wrap/Sando comes with the "works" which essentially is mayo, mustard, garlic sauce, tomato, red onion, pepperoncini, lettuce and pickles..the garlic sauce is delish and kinda their thing! Also to note, they offer veggie and vegan options, and salads. Kiddo menu too! We have a soft spot for their old school mac salad found in the fridge, and their chip varieties. There is something about that feeling you get when you walk into a sandwich spot that is just indescribable..guess I'm just a forever fan of local shops franchise or not. This location has street parking out front (or if push comes to shove, park in the shopping center next door and walk over). Hearty sandwiches, fair pricing, fun interior, smiles upon entry, and just a really cool, well-oiled machine :)

Both the fried and taters come very lightly salted, and there are salt packets you can grab to add to taste. The Mac and cheese has a nice smoky flavor from the bacon, and I appreciate that it comes in a to-go container. Casual spot with order and pick up at the counter. Nothing in particular to note about service, they were nice. Plenty of comfortable seating inside. I would come back here for the quality of the food alone, but what really makes this place stand out is the affordability, especially for the sides. I'm excited to visit again and bring some friends along.

Parking will be on neighborhood streets and was not too hard to find. Stepping in we immediately noticed that mural arts on the wall. Ordering can be at the register or via an electronic kiosk. They have a lot of interesting smash burger options, including a Trompo featuring Al Pastor. We got the Fat Boi, Trompo, and Highway Style fries. We waited longer than we expected, but good thing they have many monitors so we watched the World Cup while waiting for our food. When the food came, they were an impressive sight. The burgers were loaded and dripping with grease. My son liked his Fat Boi, but I thought the Al Pastor in the Trompo was a bit bland. The Trompo was also so greasy that grease was running down my hand and forearm while I am eating it, and I can feel my arteries hardening already! The Highway Style fries were decent. A smash patty laid between two layers of fries and then topped with melted cheese. It was decadent but a guilty pleasure. The kids gave the place 7-7.5 out of 10 and they said they would come back. For myself, probably not as the food was just too heavy for me.
