Came in for karaoke brunch on Saturday at 2pm. I messaged them through fb and it was super easy to reserve a table for my group of 10. I came here last year for a friend's birthday and loved the chill atmosphere, mixed crowd of many regulars. People who like to enjoy a relaxed weekend afternoon with a drink or two and sing a bit. Downside is the food is pretty meh. I had the hot wings which were fried wings tossed in hot sauce. Seems they don't add butter like traditional buffalo wings. They were oddly bland to me. My other friends got the spicy hangover soup which was also bland. It's a pan asian tomato based soup with ginger and garlic and ramen noodles. They also didn't have anything sweet on the menu. Perfect place for a lowkey date or chill vibe, drinks aren't overpriced. On this particular night my friend was having a rough nigh, he wasn't drunk just very in gif feels but at the moment I didn't want him drinking, so I secretly asked the bartenders could they do a mocktail for him and the drinks were so good and convincing my friend assumed they were alcoholic. I really appreciate this type of customer service because you never know what someone's going through and not to get all deep here but no one looks at alcohol as something that could be bad for some people & a spike of alcohol could have a really change my friends mood. Came for the Monday night trivia and actually had a lot of fun. I thought the space was pretty interesting. Not too big and not a lot of open space, but the place has its own charm to it. I'm terrible at trivia, but the questions were interesting and even I was able to answer a couple of them. Not a bad idea if you're bored on a Monday night. The best thing about the trivia night event is the happy hour that extends all night on Mondays. The 50/50 cocktail wasn't my favorite, but that just might have been a bad choice on my part. The Moscow Mule here is actually really good. I got to try my friend's Bubble Rainbow Bunnies cocktail, which was delicious. Not sure what's in it but I'd highly recommend. The Moscow Mule here is actually really good too. The food here is surprisingly great. We ordered the Quesa Bites, which were shockingly good given that it's such a simple dish. The optional pork is a must, if you ask me. We also ordered the Fork It Brownie Bites but they ran out for the night, which was a big disappointment. Apparently the brownies are homemade everyday and in high-demand, which just made me want them that much more. Guess I'll just have to come by again to try them! read more

Someone asked me what R Bar is like... What type of people it attracts. Best I could say are hipsters- I was surprised this bar was in Koreatown rather than Silverlake or Echo Park. The decor reminded me a lot of Dracula's fancy lair! Coming here on a Sunday at 10PM was so chill. People are having a fun time during Karaoke night. Food is so good. I love their Moscow Mules. The drinks aren't strong. My friend and I shared the skinny fries and it was surprisingly a large amount of fries for like, seven bucks? For two Moscow mules and fries our bill came to me $31.75 without tip. But their Moscow Mules are just so good... I crave them all the time here. It's the perfect drink really. Sour, sweet, crisp, and it has that tang of ginger. The fizz in the drink just helps you gulp it down easy. It's just too bad the drinks are not that large. But like I said, their Moscow Mules are so good! I'd be a regular if I had more friends coming here with me! Minus points for parking. Street parking is horrible. Do you know why it's called R Bar? I don't. Maybe it should be called K Bar as in it's A-OK. In any event, came here after a night out in K-Town. We circled around the block to find parking, but ended up at an adjacent lot where we had to pay off the security guard. That's another story in itself. After checking out Yelp, we got the password from FB. Not sure why a password is needed because the door was open and we could see inside. If you're going to make it a speakeasy then show some secrecy. We found a table toward a quieter section of the bar. Apparently it was karaoke night, so thankfully we found some seating away from the main area. Last thing I want to hear are drunk dudes singing 80's songs. On the other hand, that's kinda of amusing. The interior is dark, but hip. Chili pepper lights throughout and some nice chandeliers helped give this place a sophisticated vibe. Where we sat were some 4 to 6 person tables and a couple of couches for lounging. We sat down and ordered some beers on tap. The tap selection was somewhat limited; however, they have a full bar so you can order pretty much whatever you want. Here's where it got a bit unexpected. The server confirmed our beer orders then asked if we were paying cash or card. Huh? Why does it matter? We said cash. Few minutes later the server came back with our beers and said no more Blue Moon on tap (one person ordered it), but she brought something similar and said no charge for it. She requested the full amount in cash, but then one was free...right? We asked about it and she promptly gave back the cash for one beer, but in an condescending way (as if that should be part of her tip) by placing the cash one dollar at a time on our table. What is this a Vegas table? That sorta of ruined the mood for the night, until we ordered our second round. We all got different beverages like Mules, Mai's, and Gin/Tonics. Those tasted fine and not watered down. Also, we ordered the Crazy Fries and it was pretty good. Fries were crispy and the assortment of sauces (ranch, buffalo, BBQ, etc.) elevated this appetizer. If I come back, I would order it again. Overall, R Bar has a fun vibe, some decent food, makes decent drinks, but tap is somewhat limited. Customer service can be better too. read more

The guy running the karaoke kept intentionally skipping our group. Others were being called a ton of times, and we were confused because we noticed he was skipping us. He was super defensive when we asked, and he said he called our names. Not going to lie, from the outside we were a little sketched out with all the metal bars and super dark exterior, but once we got in we found a super chill and relaxing lounge! We ordered shots (which is always a bad idea), long island ice teas, red corvettes, beer, and french fries. The drinks were not easy to drink- especially the red corvette. Either its an acquired taste or all of us were not strong enough to drink it because it was just a straight drink of alcohol with bitter tastes mixed into it.
