Riverside is blessed with non-corporate alternatives and this replacement for Gus Burgers is a welcome edition. Mexican options too? Cool, not that we really need more Mexican food, but diversity in menu is great. Fried chicken meal for $10.99? I noticed a neighboring table putting an order down, looked good too. Steak or shrimp or large two-piece fish dinners? All that and a large choice of burgers and other sandwiches makes quick decisions laborious here. I decided that if they put the house name on a burger, the R Burger as it were, that it must be worth trying. Standard equipment includes bacon and Avocado, lettuce and special sauce. Cheese is an add-on for .60. My plate is depicted below, sans cheese. I only ate half of the French fries, but I am impressed for reasons I'll elaborate on next. Taste: fresh beef, not frozen. I stole a quick glance at the line (what cooks call the work area) and liked what I saw. Large patties hit the grill, then get pressed thinner upon flipping. My past life as a short-order cook can spy discrepancies and I am happy to say there are none here. Clean work stations and clean lobby point to good training and management. The litmus test, however, is if the first hires stay around or not. The fries were cooked but I would have liked about 45 seconds more to really give them a crispy texture. The burger was delicious though and the bacon was cooked properly, on the grill. The Avocado too was fresh and ripe. I kind of liked the choice of shredded Romaine lettuce, and the special sauce lent good something special. 4 stars for now. I'll see if they are consistent after a few visits and trying different things. If the steady stream of people dining in, taking out and in the drive thru are any indication, R Burgers should kick butt! read more

R Burgers is like an Ikea designed fast food joint. Everything's red inside and our order of fried zucchini came in one of those fancy biodegradable compost made boxes instead of a paper boat inside of a bag or cardboard box. The mister ordered a #5 original burger and subbed fries with zucchini which they gave us enough to feed two people. Unlike Farmer Boys, when you sub the fries for zucchini you're given a full order as opposed to like 3 pieces of zucchini from Farmer Boys. Also, their zucchini is lightly breaded and crispy as opposed to Farmer Boys which is super oily with the breading falling off of the zucchini. The original burger looked great and when I tried it it lived up to its looks. I just had Shake Shack the other night, and the only difference between the original R Burger and a Shake Shack burger is the spread. If you replace the spread on the R Burger with the secret sauce or spread from Shake Shack you pretty much have a Shake Shack burger. The patty is good, the veggies were fresh and the service was fast and friendly. They also serve breakfast all day which is another plus. Definitely another gem in Riverside as it's hard to find good places to eat out here and I'd recommend them over Farmer Boys for sure. read more

This is the old school burger joint that all the other Riverside shops don't want you to know about. We ordered one of their family packs and everyone was impressed at the promptness of service as well as the food quality. When we arrived, the place was quiet, much more than is due, but I digress. The interior decor is bold and bright; it looks amazing and it was kept absolutely pristine by the staff. All of our burgers were super yummy and the fry/zucchini portions are no joke for the price. I adored my fried zucchini- they were evenly breaded and dry, not soggy or crumbly like they tend to be in some other places. And there were so many of them! There was plenty to eat, to share, and even to take home for later. Every single component of the burgers is fresh and the meat portion wasn't skimpy at all. The quality of their chicken has declined while the prices went up. My favorite item here is the grilled chicken salad, but the chicken is now really thin, dry, and doesn't seem as fresh anymore. It is also a dollar more for the same salad. Service is still great, but the quality of the ingredients may have dropped across the board. read more

All the years that I lived in Riverside, I never ate at R Burgers. It always looked like a good burger place. Was in Riverside for the weekend and wanted a breakfast place close to the University. So checked out Yelp and it was recommended for breakfast. As I mentioned, more of a burger place but they had a pretty extensive breakfast menu. I settled on chicken fried steak and eggs. It was the type of food I needed for after a night of drinking. Nothing special about the food, felt like the type of breakfast you would get at a diner. Since we were there for breakfast didn't really check out the rest of the menu. Restaurant was nice and clean and the service was good. Never have I ever had such a bad experience with customer service anywhere. And never knew I would experience especially in front of my children. Staff is extremely rude, when I corrected her that my order was wrong the cashier stated I was wrong and my order was correct. I explained that was not what I ordered. And when I asked for her name she refused to provide it. I asked for a supervisor and she stated he was gone. So I just discovered that they have a Fiesta pack for $6. Two beef hard tacos, bean and cheese burrito and fries. I couldn't finish the fries. This is a lot of food. Fries were hot, crispy and nicely, lightly seasoned. I love their bean and cheese burritos. I'm very picky about refried beans and these are very good! Now, the tacos. I kinda like them but I suspect many people may not. Remind me of Jack-in-the Box - mystery meat but more than Jack tacos and tastier. A little greasy but that's one of my guiltily pleasures . I give it two stars because for some reason it just fading seem clean to me. Like it could be cleaner and updated. They did have a pretty good cheeseburger and the fries were all right being hardly salted but just could not get over the cringe of unsanitary. So it's hard to say if I would be back. Maybe next time I'll go through the drive thru and eat at the park or home or something. Then I could just enjoy the food and not wonder if they dropped my burger on the floor. Even though my friend tells me all restaurants drop food on the floor and serve it still, if it's true I hope it's dropped on a clean floor. Five stars, ucker fays. For six bucks, you get a good burger, juicy tenders, and perfect fries, and a drink. Tenders were lightly battered with ranch or Frank's on the side. Fries had a good season and perfectly crisp. I brought home a tender and fries for the wife, and, even then, they were still top notch three hours later COLD. This place deserves five stars. I've been to R Burger over 50 times, since the R Box (burger, two tenders, fries) were $5 pre-COVID and have seen inflation take this towards $6 ish in 2017. I've always been a fan of the boxes as well as the other burger options on the menu, especially since it is local. I did not notice anything particularly special about the burgers here, but they definitely hit the spot when you're hungry and craving a quick and affordable meal. The tenders are inconsistent; sometimes they're dry and other times moist. The fries are thick and mushy - okay - and the burger patties are often cooked slightly above medium rare. However, I'm disappointed that every time I drive-thru and mention no cheese, I end up being charged for cheese and that it is included. This has absolutely nothing to do with the food but with the customer service. My boyfriend and I love this place but we're treated horribly over literally something so simple. We got too much ranch in our order and wanted to get a simple refund so we went through the drive thru again and informed them and as the drive thru operator spoke to his boss we could hear here completely go off on him about it and when she came to the window she was very standoff-ish and made us feel like we were in the wrong when it was a simple mistake on the restaurants part by giving us more than what we asked for.
