[[HIGHLIGHT]]Such a cozy restaurant with great food![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have a great Italian menu, I was not super hungry when we went so I just had a salad but it was very good and everything was fresh! All of the other dishes looked amazing so I will definitely back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is really cute and the staff were so friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was also very quick and the food was out was quicker than we were expecting! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We got there shortly after it opened for dinner and there were only two of us so we were able to be seated right away with no reservation but it did get more crowded as we sat there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Charming Italian restaurant situated in old city.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's very tight inside so reservations are definitely recommended![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service and food were both great! They have a full bar now so it's not byo, however, we saw several groups walk in with their own bottles and get away with it..which was annoying since we paid for a full bottle. Maybe because it's a new rule they are allowing it for now? We ordered the octopus, broccoli rabe, chicken sorrentina, and agnello scottsdito. Everything was delicious and fresh. We especially loved our entrees and would get it again! Cooked to perfection, hearty amount and tasty. Wish I had room to try dessert, but that will be for next time!

Went for lunch on a Monday and there was only one other table being served. We ordered the grilled octopus, the special pasta of the day (pappardelle with a lemony wine sauce, mussels and clams), and ziti al telefono (insane cheese pull as pictured). The server was so nice and chatty, and gave us a complimentary tiramisu after our meal. The pastas were both delicious, cooked well, with sauces that were clearly well-developed in flavor. The octopus and the pappardelle dish were the most memorable, especially the octopus. Would come back just for that!

We had dinner at Radicchio Café in Old City this past Friday night at 7 PM. It was our first time, and we'd actually walked by earlier in the week and thought it looked really cute--so we made a reservation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we arrived, it was lively but not overly packed, and we were seated right away.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We opted for an outdoor table, which turned out to be a great choice (even though it got unexpectedly chilly--more on that in a second!).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was excellent across the board. Our server was warm, attentive, and really knowledgeable about the menu and specials. The wine pours were generous--a major win for the girls. When the temperature dropped quickly, a server kindly fired up the outdoor heater and even swapped in a fresh propane tank so we'd stay warm during dinner. Above and beyond. We started with complimentary bruschetta and bread with oil, which were both delicious. For an appetizer, we ordered the Gauzzeto (mussels and clams in a spicy red sauce), and honestly--it was the best bite of the night. The mussels were massive and fresh, and we ended up sopping up every last bit of that amazing sauce with our bread. For mains, I had the Chicken Locanda, which was beautifully thin and fried to perfection, but it came out a little cold. That said, the eggplant on top was flavorful and warm, and paired with the arugula and tomato, it made for a great combination. My partner had the Farfalle Positano, which was unfortunately pretty bland. We asked for extra tomato sauce, which definitely helped, but it wasn't a standout. Even though the entrées were a bit underwhelming, the service, ambiance, and appetizers really carried the night. As a sweet touch, they brought us a little bite of biscotti at the end of the meal, even though we didn't order dessert. Overall, it wasn't perfect--but it was charming and enjoyable, and we're already planning to go back and try a different dish next time.

As we entered Radicchio Cafe we were greeted by the hostess who brought us to our table. While we were perusing the different options of endless enjoyment, we had the opportunity to see what others had ordered for their table. Let me tell you our mouths began to salivate just looking at the presentation from these dishes. While we were enjoying a several glasses of wine, let me just tell you what we enjoyed this fine evening. (At the moment it is still a "BYO") Appetizer. * Burrata ~ This was one of their specials , and this was amazing. Creamy, and delightful which made this salad the more enjoyable. * Grilled Octopus ~ This was perfectly marinated. Main. * Branzino ~ A special they were serving this evening, and this European seabass was made to perfection. This also came with a side of vegetables which complimented the main attraction. * Tagliatelle Diavolo ~ Another special they were serving with scallops, shrimp, and clams. This spicy dish was simply amazing. Dessert. * Tiramisu ~ What can one say.. simply exquisite. The service was on point with our waitress making sure we were fully accommodated, which is always a plus. In all with the decor , that home type feel that makes you feel like you are eating with family. This my yelp fam can make any meal you choose more enjoyable. With all of this coming at you, it makes you want to come back again, and again, and again. I know I will be back when they open up their new bar. I am Nando, and I approve this message.

My husband and I stopped in here for dinner when we didn't feel like cooking and it did not disappoint. The service was attentive and friendly. We got the grilled artichoke to start which was delicious (hence why I never got a photo). I got the broccoli rabe and sausage for my main (it's an app but the portion was plenty). And my husband got the pasta with vodka sauce and prosciutto. The vida sauce was so nice and light. We also got complimentary bread, bruschetta, and tinny biscotti cookie. Be sure to check them out!

3.5 The good: grilled octopus, very fresh and tasty, a must-try. Fast service. No wait for tables. The rest: I was excited to try this place based on the reviews, but for the price, the ambiance, and the pasta, I was disappointed. No wait for a table on a Friday night. They started us off with bruschetta that was a bit onion-forward but overall good. But the cold sesame-topped bread that came with it was rock hard. The flavor was okay, but it was stale. Not a good sign. The pasta is all over $23, most closer to $30, with some entrees over $40. The place feels like it's trying to be fancier than it is. It's very casual inside (screams Italian with the cork walls and Italian words strewn about), and the tables are very close together. Some of our plates were a bit chipped. The pasta had very little bite, and the red sauce on my pomodoro was generous but a bit bland. My husband was especially disappointed with his chicken with broccoli penne--he said it felt like getting a basic stir fry for $29. Dinner ended with a free small biscotti for each of us. It was fine. Maybe I ordered the wrong things. Like I said, the grilled octopus was great. Very tender, well executed, nice balanced flavor. Maybe seafood is the way to go here, or the specials. But the pasta we got was such a let down, especially for the price. I would've given this place four stars if not for that.

So first impression was a nice BYOB on a cute cobble stone street in old city. Plus we got seated so fast for a Friday night. They bring you out complimentary bruschetta on crostinis and a bread basket to start. It's always a green flag when you don't have to pay for a bread basket. We got 2 apps that were on special: roasted peppers with provolone and calamari. Then split 2 entrees: a pasta and chicken. We finished by splitting gelato. The portions were large and shareable. The food was delicious. The services was fast! The services was so fast but honestly too fast. We had 5 plates in less than an hour. Our entrees came out immediately after the appetizers. We asked for a couple minutes before ordering dessert but the waitress came back over twice asking if we were ready. Overall the food was A+ but it would be nice to enjoy the meal and not feel so rushed.

I went here with my wife on a recent trip to Philadelphia. We were in Philadelphia for a very short period of time and picked this place based off some photos we saw on the internet, and because it was near our hotel. Overall, this was a very good Italian restaurant. First, the food was excellent. We ordered the Zito Too, Spaghetti Matriciana and tiramisu for dessert. The pastas were cooked nicely al dente and the sauces were flavorful. The tiramisu for dessert was very good, but not outstanding. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Second, the service was good. Our server was attentive, polite and the food came out quickly. The only negative, was we felt a little bit rushed at the end of our meal. If it wasn't for that, I would say the service was excellent. Third, the ambulance was nice. It's a small, cozy restaurant that comes off as a neighborhood place. We enjoyed what could be described as traditional Italian restaurant decor and ambience. There were, however, some negatives. First, be warned there is a 3% surcharge to used your credit card. Given the prices range of the dishes and that a meal here could easily cost hundreds of dollars for a larger group, I felt that this was unfair. Also, there no warning or notice of this surcharge, at least none that was obvious. I surprised by the extra charge when wee got our bill. Second, the intimate nature of the restaurant can lent itself to the restaurant being a little too loud. That night we there a larger group (12-15 people) were at one table celebrating a birthday. One of the people was obnoxiously load and her voice dominated the entire restaurant the entire time were there[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. While, not necessarily the restaurant's fault, it's a risk of eating any small restaurant. Be warned. In sum, is this is a great restaurant with a few small flaws that shouldn't be enough to prevent anyone from eating here.

My boyfriend and I came here for a date night the other day; we absolutely LOVED it! It's BYOB and the food is incredible. They don't take reservations but we got there around 6pm on a Friday night and had no issues getting a table. They have seating inside and outside so it makes it a lot easier! We started off with the mussels and clams appetizer in a garlic white wine sauce. Very tasty and loved dipping the bread in the garlicy sauce. Chefs kiss! For our mains we decided to split the spaghetti with chicken parm and ziti with meatballs. The tomato sauce was terrific and tasted just like your Italian grandmother would make for you on Sunday. The tomato sauce was a bit on the sweeter side which I loved as well. They chopped up the meatballs which was a nice addition and also added some ricotta cheese for a little something extra. The chicken parm was to die for and probably my favorite dish here! It was perfectly cooked and extremely delicious. We were too full for dessert but definetly want to try something next time! I can't wait to go back and try their other dishes. I would recommend anyone to go to Raddicho Cafe, you certainly will not be disappointed if your looking for a delicious Italian meal.

My boyfriend took me here for our anniversary dinner. The service was pretty good and the food was delicious! We both chose specials for our entrees. Mine had taglatelle with some vegetables and scallops in a light wine sauce, and my boyfriend's dish had gnocchi, beef, vegetables, and a creamier sauce. The pasta didn't seem like it was made fresh, but the ingredients were pretty good. We also had the buffalo mozzarella appetizer, as well as tiramisu and cannoli for dessert. The cannoli were just OK, but the tiramisu was probably one of the best I've had. Seating was a bit tight, but it we were there early in the evening, so it wasn't too crowded. Due to the set-up, it's probably a better place for smaller parties rather than large groups.The windows are huge, so there is a lot of natural light. Overall, this is a cute BYOB with very decent food at very decent prices. read more

Aside from the rain, this night couldn't have been more perfect. Radicchio Cafe is a diamond in the rough. After calling around on the Saturday night that we were in Philadelphia to see if we could find a table somewhere and not having any luck we went to the one Italian restaurant that didn't require a reservation and ended up getting a table within 5 minutes of walking in the door. Some things are meant to be. Sue's sister (who lives in Philadelphia) had been here before and really enjoyed it. I love that this place was very not pretentious. Very old school Italian vibe coming from this place. Something that I don't get out of Italian restaurants in Portland and something that I miss very much from my time growing up and living on the east coast. Upon sitting our server came over to tell us about the specials of the evening. There were a bunch. After that another gentleman came over and opened one of the bottles of wine we brought. It is BYOB here. We started out with an order of calamari from the specials and the Beets Salad ($12). Red and yellow fresh beets, caramelized walnuts, onions, goat cheese, fresh mints in a house vinaigrette. Beet salad is fairly easy, but when it works it works really well. This one worked really well. The calamari was a bit different too as it wasn't your usual fried variety. Good start to the meal. For our main, Sue and I split Pappardelle with seafood that was also on their specials menu. They were super kind enough to split the dish for us back in the kitchen. These are the little things that make a meal that much better. This was stocked with scallops, shrimp and other goodies. It has been a few days since this meal so I don't remember everything that was in it. For dessert we had a creme brulee cheesecake which was unbelievable. Not too sweet. Not too heavy. What an ending to this dinner. I am going to remember this one for a long time. read more

What a lovely little place! My friend swears that on a slightly less crowded night, it can be very romantic - my experience was definitely more lively than romantic, but no complaints to that. My friend is a semi-regular, so I took her word for it and met her here at 7pm on a Thursday. It was busy - every table was filled, and there was a group waiting ahead of us (they don't take reservations), but we put our name in anyway and retreated to the storm door area, which was furnished with a stand heater - such an appreciated and memorable touch to combat the below-freezing temps. We waited just 5 minutes before the nice man poked his head outside and told us he had a table ready. The service was great - our waiter knew the menu inside & out and was just the right amount of friendly, chatting up my friend about their shared love for and knowledge of fancy cheeses. It's BYO - we brought champagne, as that was the only thing we had readily available, and our waiter immediately brought out a stand and starting chilling it with lots of ice, cold water, and salt - smart, efficient, and attentive. He back in a flash with pre-chilled champagne glasses, too - impressive. The atmosphere is bright, slightly rustic, inviting, warm. Tables are a little close together and chatter fills the room (some of the reasons why I didn't get the romantic vibe) but we were completely comfortable and could carry on conversation across the table with no problem. Their menu is what I consider an awesome balance of innovative and classic. We started with the ricchi e poveri salad, which is asparagus, shrimp, and cannelloni beans - an unexpectedly perfect combination of flavors - and grilled calamari with arugula and capers, one of the specials that night - delicious and cooked well (not overcooked as so many places do). We split another of the specials for our entree - homemade squid ink pasta with mushrooms, spicy tomatoes, scallops, and shrimp. The squid ink gave the pasta a little twist, and the spiciness of the tomatoes gave it a little kick. I absolutely loved everything we ate, and I would come back in a heartbeat. read more

Delish. Been here several times now and each time has consistently been EXCELLENT. No grilled octopus this time, but still got the grilled calamari app, broccoli (rabe) & sausage app, roasted beet salad, bowtie pasta with pancetta in pink sauce, and special pappardelle and scallops. pasta is always al dente with great sauces. the roasted beet salad with goat cheese could have had more goat cheese, and it wasn't the best roasted beet salad we've had, but it was still very good. Not sure about the recent poor reviews - that has not been my experience. Sure, maybe the wait staff isn't the warmest, but personally, I appreciate the no nonsense, tell-you-as-it-is waiters we've had, and I've never felt that the wait staff or any of the workers have ever been rude. read more

I knock a star off the venue for one reason: staff. Our server was kind and efficient, but the rest of the staff seemed a bit stuffy for my liking. I will admit that as a past server myself, I am incredibly picky about how customers are treated. That being said, it was my only complaint about the place. Our meal here was remarkable. I had a pasta dish with prosciutto and pink sauce (a really classic vodka and cream), the beet salad, and the grilled calamari. All three things were amazing, and the meal was perfectly fresh. The set up was quaint, calm and reminiscent of a little Italian cafe. We discovered that it is byob (after we had already arrived, dammit), and plan to go back with our own cab of choice next time. read more

We felt rushed and entirely ignored on at an early Saturday night dinner. The restaurant was more interested in turning tables than making us welcomed. Servers were an assembly line group, and all different. One scolded us for using wine glasses for Pellegrino while advised the specials yet a separate server slapped down the bill before we even finished dessert. The bread was disappointing and is usually a bad sign of things to come. No surprise the pasta dishes were unimaginable and bland, not to mention pricey. read more

The food is was very good. Upon arrival the host/server did not greet us or welcome us. We waited and after about 10 mins then I asked if we can have a table. We were seated right after. They were busy being that there were only the host and server taking and bringing out the orders. However, it was quick. Delicious food. Ask about specials. We did not and missed out on the grilled shrimp which is on the pictures on website. The location is cute and cozy. read more

We had the most wonderful outdoor dinner here a few weekends ago. It was a cold night, but plenty warm with the heaters. It was absolutely delicious and the waitstaff was wonderful. Can't wait to go again. read more

Such a perfect date night spot! We came here for a girls night out and it was packed. So cozy and the service is stupendous. They make you feel at home and the food is fantastic! We started with the burrata and chargrilled calamari and octopus. It was phenomenal! The octopus and calamari had the perfect sear and texture. I had the Farfalle Delizia and I will have dreams about the delicious blush sauce that costed the shrimp, scallops and perfectly cooked pasta. My friends had the Ziti Toro and crab fettuccine and loved it. This place is BYOB too. Double win! read more

I had heard great things about this place, so I was excited to try it. The food was good, and the service was as well. We got the peppers, octopus, and lobster ravioli. The downside to this restaurant is probably the price- it was a little pricey for a BYO. That being said, I would go back. read more

Very professional and kind staff. From start to finish the experience was nothing less than wonderful. I recommend the grilled octopus appetizer and the bronzino as the main course. This is a very clean with comfortable decor. The wait staff were very patient. Never felt rushed. Only very much welcomed. I will returh. read more

Lobster ravioli.....still drooling over them! We were looking for a BYOB Italian spot for a Saturday night double date. Of course, we waited until the last minute to make these plans and actually pick a spot, but the mouth watering reviews led us to Radicchio Cafe. We decided to go around 9:15ish in hopes of missing the rush - and it worked! We were seated as soon as we walked in - our server took our coats and hung them and proceeded to open, pour, and ice our wine. When all of us were seated, he went over the specials and I was thrilled to hear that my weakness, lobster ravioli, was being made! We decided on 2 apps, ordered and enjoyed our wine while we waited. The one thing that struck me as odd was the lack of butter, pesto, or an olive oil mixture being offered with the bread that was brought out. Granted, there was oil on the table and I promptly mixed up my own yummy dipping plate, but that little fact did stick with me. We chose the grilled calamari and the buffalo mozzarella (on the advice of the reviews) for our apps. I was actually slightly disappointed with the mozz dish - it lacked flavor and seasoning. The calamari was perfectly cooked and I loved the capers that went along with it. Three out of the four of us ordered the lobster ravioli while the last ordered a similar dish. All four of us were satisfied - one of the gentlemen at the table was worried about portion size (he can eat!) but was happy with what he was served. To top off the ravioli, they added shrimp and scallops to a tasty cream sauce - perfect compliment! We could've done without the mozzarella, but I could definitely see a return to Radicchio in the future! read more

After having a memory-filled pre-Christmas dinner party here a few weeks ago with a party of 17, I had to stop in and pay homage to my favorite BYOB in Philadelphia. The service is unbelievable. Owners are some of the nicest people I know. The food is top notch and it's fun to listen to their thick Italian accents recite the specials and then ask them to repeat again and again.. Although rarely a creature of habit, I cannot stray from my favorite dish here - Organic Multigrain Penne with Chicken and Broccoli, served in a light oil and garlic sauce and heaped high with shaved dry ricotta. They don't take reservations, but in the warmer months, they provide wine glasses to your party upon arrival to crack a bottle open outside as you wait. Also take note when there of the older gentleman finely dressed and usually posted up in a window seat. He dines here nearly every night. It's on my bucket list to join him one of these days and learn his story. Lovely, lovely place. 6 Stars, molto bene!! read more

Just a fun place; haven't been for a few years, but returned pretty recently. Glad to say that it is back on my "must eat" list. I generally recommend you come here for fish and/or pasta. Appetizer prices are high (entrees are fairly reasonable), but are large enough to split for two. Splitting prices on entrees are higher than I'd like (mostly for fish), but the quality is worth it overall. Service is fine, if a bit cooler than at L'angolo. Pace of food delivery is very good, even when pretty crowded. I had the following items on my last trip here: Warm mozzarella (very good; not overly vinegary, which is a positive in my book; large enough to split for two people). Whole pompano split for two people (one of the best whole fish preparations I have had in some time; outstanding and will place on my best seafood collection in Yelp!) Tartufo for dessert (nutmeg around it, which made it really good!) It is BYOB; they take credit cards (V/MC), but not AmEx, as an FYI. Long-time customers are very friendly; some gave us the last bit of their wine bottle, and people are typically quite chatty to talk to. Very fun crowd. read more

My favorite byob in the city! This byob is worth the wait. I have been here several times and find that everything I've ordered has been delicious. The waiters are very nice and the owner/manager will come to tables and ask how everything tastes. The portion sizes are large so you never leave hungry. Outdoor seating is nice because the restaurant can get loud on the weekends. A city must try! read more

Radicchio Cafe is a must go! Their food is very tasty and I love when owners ask you how the food is rather than just a waiter/waitress. The owner is a very nice man with a thick Italian accent. He greets you when you walk in and says goodbye as you leave, sometimes he even brings your food. I ordered their seafood served with penne and red sauce. The food had the perfect amount of seasoning in it! the atmosphere of the place is very romantic and relaxed. the lights are dimmed and candles are lite but thats just at night time. I'll will have to come back for lunch and see what that is like. the only reason i did not give radicchio 5 stars was that the seats are too close together. I don't want to hear my neighbors conversation or bump elbows with them either. This cafe is very small but it is still worth the trip! read more

I've heard so many good things about this place. I had my birthday dinner there this past weekend. The service was truly terrible. Our server was arrogant and super slow. Onto the food. The bread was honestly some of the best Italian bread I've ever had. It would've been more enjoyable if our table had olive oil on it like the other tables did. The artichoke app was mediocre. My branzino was delicious. It was a really small portion but the taste was great. My girlfriend ordered the pasta and crab dish. There was much minimal crab and it was bland. One of the best Italian restaurants in the city! It's a small place but very cozy and with comfortable seating. Our waiter was nice and friendly. We ordered salad to share as appetizer, it was very delicious and fresh! For entree, the pink vodka source pasta was fantastic! I will go back to have it again for sure! This place is one of the BEST BYOBs in philly. I have been a few times for dinner and their food is amazing! Everything I have had has been Delicious. I especially like their blush sauce. The branzino is great! Cash only and no reservations. But worth going to! I also recently had my shower here. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves! I highly recommend having a private party here. I do hope that the ownership of this unique spot read their reviews, because although it was a very beautiful Saturday evening in Philadelphia, and the restaurant was obviously extremely busy and most likely understaffed, we found the entire experience to be an unfortunate disaster. Without commenting on the mediocre food or the unbelievably long wait to be waited upon and served, none of the staff was pleasant, apologetic or understanding. I believe everyone knows that this has been a very difficult time for the restaurant industry, but please, when your customers have to wait an hour at a table to be waited upon, be somewhat contrite and apologetic! I went here for my birthday way back in July and it was absolutely amazing. I had a large party of 12 and usually with parties those size, you expect for service to be a little lacking but the service here was incredible as well as the food. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! This is absolutely one of my favorite BYOs in Philly. The food is amazing and very reasonably priced. We started out with the burrata and calamari as an appetizer in addition to the bruschetta they sent out. They were all great. For an entree I had the farfalle delizia which was amazing. I was going to share it with me girlfriend in exchange for some of her dish but I ended up eating the entire thing because it was that good. I'd order it again in a second. One of our favorite BYOB restaurant in the city! Always satisfied with the service, food, and atmosphere here. You have to try the langoustine if it's available. On that night it wasn't :( Radicchio is a small indoor and outdoor restaurant. Its first come first serve. No reservations are taken. Our food was amazing. We ordered the Squid and octopus combination along with the Broccoli rabe and sausage for appetizers. For our entrees, we had the lamb and Lobster Ravioli. Excellent BYOB with service to match. It's small and no reservations but it's worth the wait. Tip: head there early in a weeknight for no wait. Totally loved this place! I haven't been here in more than 12 years and it's as good as I remember. My husband, who doesn't love Italian food (???) said: "best meal I've had in a minute." We had the octopus, the chicken locanda and the Branzino. All were delicious! Service was excellent! read more

One of the many reasons for the 5 stars is that while no, this restaurant does not take reservations I decided to try since 3 of our party of 5 are disabled. I explained our situation and the gentleman that I spoke to was very caring and decided to make an exception. A most welcome surprise. The appetizers we ordered were simply put in the middle of the table and were spectacular. Buffalo mozzarella, grilled octopus with arugula capers and the most beautiful olive oil, shrimp with asparagus all amazing.Three of our party got veal dishes for the main and I had the langostines.I can not even tell you how good these were. You just have to experience them for yourself! Now, I'm not particularly a desert person but I have to tell you, the Tres Leches cake is not to be missed. Not too sweet and melt in your mouth good. My advice is take Uber (Parking is horrible. We parked 5 blocks away and still got a ticket!), make a reservation, bring a good bottle of wine and leave the rest up to the chef. Enjoy! read more

This place is a true delight. When you step through the door, you're immediately drawn into the cozy atmosphere- soft lighting, candlelit tables, and charming decor. I first noticed the wall of wine corks, if that's any indication of how much fun is had at this great little BYOB spot! This is an excellent place for groups and the host graciously accommodated our party of 6 by pulling tables together. The service could not have been nicer or more attentive. The waiter recited all of the specials from memory and made each of them sound so magical and delicious. He obviously did a great job, because we ordered all of our appetizers from the special menu! everything we ordered was so fresh, light and uniquely flavored. This is great Italian food, the kind that makes you feel good after eating it. Not heavy, but delicately prepared. -if they have the burrata, it's a must! it's not just a ball of cheese, it's so much more than that . -the artichoke hearts were awesome, not as conducive to sharing so I was happy to hog the whole plate! they're served with arugula and tomatoes with a nice touch of lemon. -the combination appetizer of octopus and calamari was a complete stand out! it's grilled, not grossly fried like you usually see it. My main dish was the pasta matriciana, perfectly al dente with a beautiful and light red sauce. the pancetta added great flavor and texture to the dish. For dessert, you need the tiramisu! so fluffy and delicious, definitely homemade. Hold off on the cannoli, it's nothing to write home about...order 2 tiramisus instead!! Despite the fact that I'm a married woman and was dining with one of my girlfriends, Radicchio Cafe made me feel a little like I was on a really good first date. The wine cork-lined walls, Italian-accented waiter, and cozy distance between tables (all of which were full on Monday evening), contributed to a comfy atmosphere where I could really see myself ordering a salad and asking the person across the table questions like, "sooooo... what kind of music do you like?" Luckily, this was NOT a first date, and I was free to order whatever I wanted. My friend and I started with the caprese appetizer, a delicious little pizza crust cut into quarters, each topped with a thick slice of fresh tomato, mozzarella, and a generous sheet of prosciutto. So good. I went with the pasta special for my entree, squid ink linguine (a first for me!) in a spicy blush sauce with scallops, shrimp and mushrooms. ZOMG!!! The pasta was fresh, which I was not expecting, tender ribbons of cephalopod-infused goodness. The seafood was just slightly overcooked, but the flavor of the sauce made up for it, and I kept eating far beyond a full belly. My friend ordered a chicken dish (I don't recall the name), a lightly breaded chicken cutlet topped with eggplant, arugula and shaved Parmesan. It was surprisingly lighter than expected, well seasoned, and fresh-tasting. The service was just a little slow, but had we thought ahead and brought a couple bottles of wine to linger over, I would have minded less. So. Wanna go back to my place for some coffee? read more

Radicchio Cafe is an adorable little Italian restaurant, perfect for a date night. I came here over the summer on a double date and we all left with full stomachs and happy hearts. The inside of the restaurant is small. It is dimly lit with candlelit tables to help set the mood. They also have tables along the outside of the restaurant for extra seating in the summer. This restaurant is also BYOB, so be sure to bring your favorite wine to pair with your meal! Upon arrival, we were initially seated inside. We asked our waiter if there was any seating available outside, as it was a beautiful summer night. He quickly moved us to an outdoor table without any wait. The food was amazing! For an appetizer, we ordered the Focaccia Caprese and the Guazzetto, which is steamed mussels and clams in white wine. The Guazzetto was to die for! For entrees, my guy and I decided to order the Agnello Scottadito, lamb chops grilled to perfection, and the Fusilli Delizia, pasta with shrimp and scallops in a pink cream sauce, to share. Both were delicious! I preferred the Fusilli Delizia, as I love seafood! All the ingredients seemed extremely fresh and the meals were cooked to perfection. The menu is a little on the pricey side, but I would say it is very reasonable for the quality of food you receive. The service was phenomenal as well, especially for a busy Friday night. I highly recommend Radicchio Cafe if you are looking for delicious, high quality Italian food. The intimate setting and romantic atmosphere make this a perfect spot for date night! I came into the BYOB with a bottle of wine. They put down a small wine glass in front of me and I said to the waiter "BIGGER" and he looked confused. So I said (and pantomimed) "I want to drink a lot in one gulp" and he came back and produced a huge goblet with a huge smile. Lovely service but *oy vey* it's packed so you gotta be a little patient and try not to eavesdrop on your very close neighbor's conversation (so hard). I stupidly gulped down a half glass of wine before eating and got immediate heartburn after my first bite of buffalo mozzarella. I tried to ignore it. Took deep breaths. Slowed down on the wine. Was charmed by the appetizer; determined to conquer it. Lengthened my posture. To no avail. I only ate 1/4 of my main dish but it was freakin' out of this world tasty-- Farfalle Delizia: bow tie pasta in a pink cream sauce with shrimp and scallops & sundried tomatoes-- Holy Yum worth every dollar of the $20 it cost me. Sorry La Viola, you may be close to me, but this place is way better and just as cute/most likely cuter. Heidi Klum versus Kate Moss. My friend had the bow tie pasta with jumbo crabmeat and basically spooned the sauce in her mouth with wide eyes saying "Good...GOOD!!" like a cavewoman. The place is small like someone's studio apartment and I betcha there's always a wait. But the waiters have personality-- I think they talk about you fondly in Italian. They called me "big glass" all night and then teased me for not polishing off my bottle. Oh, and we split a cannoli that earned the double thumbs up (mascarpone chocolate chip with wonderful tasty biscotti served with it). I'm hoping because it's tucked away in small corner of the city it'll still be a very intimate secret date spot. But food like that should be shared with the masses and celebrated with antacids. Just took four tums. About to dream about eating my leftovers. Didn't bother to share them with the roommate. If food makes you greedy, well then-- 5 stars. Yummers to the 'nth degree. Pasta, why do I love thee so? Why must you be prepared so deliciously here? Why are you so heavy-laden with carbohydrates that I must avoid you most of the year? Even crowded on Monday nights (a tell-tale sign that this place is not only good, it's popular), this cute corner BYOB is a neighborhood staple and along with La Locanda (a couple blocks over), it's a solid go-to choice for local italian BYO around Old City. Dinner progression goes like this: crusty bread, complimentary fresh bruschetta to start. Wicked garlicky goodness of mussels followed by a favorite of mine, Penne Toto, that is liberally doused with mouth-watering prosciutto, shallots and a pink vodka cream sauce. Get in my belly! All their seafood is good here too, and the fish of the day is always fresh and well-prepared. Service is fast, sometimes rushed and a little impersonal. Menu consists of good, standard Italian dishes except the Scallops Al Radicchio - which are bland and the scallops are almost invisible (more white beans than anything) - skip it - and try their calamari instead. Also, appears like frequent patrons (or family and friends of the owner?) get preferential seating and even reservations - even though the restaurant does not offer them. I guess if you show up here in a Porsche or a Corvette Stingray, it guarantees you the first and best table in the joint. read more

My favorite dishes were the cavatelli and the chicken cutlet!! both were incredible. I'll definitely be coming back, especially to try the chicken parm. This place has officially earned a special spot in my heart.

The only miss for me was the chocolate cake: it was very cold and a bit dry. That said, I would 100% go back just for the rigatoni Bolognese alone.

Chicken Milanese that was served with shaved Italian cheese and arugula. One vela parm which had the perfect ratio of sauce to cheese. The third meal was a basic bolognese that was served with mafaldine pasta. Entrees were all good. We also added the truffle pasta option for the table which was also prepared tableside with the cheese wheel and shavings of fresh black truffles was a perfect finish. We also had a sharing side of gnocchi with sauce. All in all we had a solid meal. It wasn't the best Italian I even had but it's good. The total was 336 for three with 2 rounds of drinks . This is pretty good for center city fine dining.

Surprise surprise we actually found parking OK maybe that's because we got there earlier than our reservation in hopes to make another stop that didn't work out so we came early and they greeted us with open arms took us to a beautiful table in front of vintage fireplace hence we were sitting in the perfect spot. He was exceptional at his run through the menu, his explanations on preparations handling questions. This was definitely not his first, not his second and not his third rodeo he's definitely a professional at what he does. Upon review of the menu we started off with steamed clams and a spicy marinara and actually asked for fra Diavlo hence they gave it an additional hit of spice. It had a nice kick. It was very tasty. My wife was going back-and-forth between their signature lasagna and a little weak weenie with crab Bianco and in the end she went with the baked lasagna oh my goodness the size of that piece on the plate we took half home. For me, I went with the veal Catherine, the medallions veal with shrimp, lump crab meat, and fresh tomato and a Bianco sauce the plating presentation I can't describe you'll just have to see my photograph. I've never seen it like this before and it was extremely tasty. Very tender I would certainly get that dish again. And since I am not a pasta eater, I ordered a side vegetable of broccoli Rob. Also, the bill was handwritten, more like chicken scratches, I couldn't read any of what was written. I'm sure their rep is deserved, but as a visitor to Philadelphia, on our night it was not.

Thankfully this was found on accident as it's walking distance from our hotel, so we're reserving our spot for tomorrow and will come prepared with our bottle of wine. This is a BYOB establishment. They do not have any alcohol on the premises but do not charge a cork fee. I got it with the knife-cut noodles and it was perfect with the broth. The noodles had that slightly uneven, chewy texture that really holds onto the soup. I never thought I'd be the type to talk about "mouthfeel" but here we are. The broth itself was rich and savory with a deep beef flavor, a little bit of oil on top that adds body without feeling too heavy. It's that classic, comforting Chinese beef noodle soup done really well. I added a braised egg, which had great flavor soaked into it, though it was served cold, which threw me off a bit. The mapo tofu with noodles was also really solid. It had that signature spicy, numbing kick from the Sichuan peppercorns, balanced with a savory, slightly salty sauce. The tofu was soft and silky, and mixing it with the noodles made it extra satisfying. It's got some heat but not overwhelming, just enough to keep you going back for another bite. The shrimp stir fry was lighter but still flavorful. The shrimp were cooked well, tender with a slight snap, and the sauce leaned more on the savory side with a mild sweetness. It felt like a nice balance alongside the heavier noodle dishes. Couple practical things: it's cash only, but there's an ATM right by the seating area which makes it easy. A little impromptu dinner gathering brought my friends and I here last night. I've been going here for years, and I've got to say, it's stood up to the test of time. I still love the food, consistently delicious standards alongside rotating entree and appetizer specials. Our group split the grilled calamari, special beet salad, and focaccia to start followed by an assortment of pasta and seafood dishes. Everything was wonderful, particularly the pink cream sauce that was coating my twisted pasta with crab and shrimp. The only downside was the server we had (not to be confused by his very nice back waiter, and the always gracious host) - he kinda had a chip on his shoulder. Which is a little legit, I mean I get it, we're a big group in an otherwise romantic BYO - but still, no need. This is hands down the best Italian spot in Olde City and offers one of the finest lunches in the city. Their menu boasts fresh ingredients, generous portions, and excellent prices. If the weather permits, I highly recommend dining outside for an even better experience. This isn't your typical spaghetti and meatball joint, so if you're a fan of Olive Garden, this might not be your scene. I've had dinner at Radicchio many times and I've consistently left completely satiated. It's the top Italian restaurant in Philadelphia. A bigger dinning room is the sole thing I could perhaps propose to help it become better. There's always a line of waiting customers at peak hours. Sadly, a bigger site may mean that it loses its close, personalized service. As it's really close, you're always guaranteed to get the interest of the wait staff. read more

The special squid-ink pasta with mixed seafood was particularly impressive. While the branzino was good, next time I'll opt to keep the whole fish rather than having it filleted. read more

Best BYOB on the city! My wife and I live in Old City and take a stroll over to Radicchio about once a month or more. Get the Branzino! Trust me-- best fish you will ever taste. This place is ok, but I'm not so sure why everyone raves about it. It's just a standard byob in Old City. I got the octopus and it was pretty good but I've had much better elsewhere. Much more authentic italian restaurant than most "italian" spots. Everything on the menu is great and is reasonably priced. Plus it's BYO and they provide ice buckets for you. The waiters/waitresses are all very nice and make sure that you have a great experience. read more

Great local spot, BYO, very cozy and in a fabulous location. My wife and I really enjoy dining here. We go just about every week (and see some of the same people overtime. Try to Lamb Chops or the Chicken Parm. Definitely a hidden gem. read more
