We love Raíces Rotisserie chicken! It's the best Peruvian chicken in all of Manassas. I highly recommend eating there when the chicken is straight out of the ovens. The only reason why I don't give this place 5 stars is because they're kind of stingy with their sauces when you order to-go or for pick-up. When you eat at the restaurant they have a serve-yourself-all-you-want set up with the sauces on the side, so one would assume they'd be as generous with the to-go orders. Anyway, this doesn't stop me from ordering from here once a week during this pandemic. I just can't live without their Yucca fries and fried sweet plantains. Raices is an excellent restaurant and I highly recommend it. The food and service are great. We shared a causa for starters at lunch. It was very good, beautifully presented, and flavorful. The only nit was there were small bones in the chicken. It would have been great if the chicken was shredded rather than in chunks. The pollo ala brasa was great. My wife had it with arroz chaufa (fried rice) and yucca. I had it with arroz chaufa and cole slaw. The arroz chaufa was excellent. It was flavorful and the rice was perfectly cooked. It wonderfully complemented the chicken. I tried some of the yucca and was blown away. It was cooked through and crispy on the outside. Being Pennsylvanian, I am very particular about coleslaw and don't think of it as a Peruvian dish but it was great and went very well with the chicken. The chicken was served with little containers of white and green sauces. The white sauce was more like a salad dressing than mayonnaise, it didn't add much to the dish. The green sauce was especially good. It had a mild kick and a nice, fresh flavor of cilantro. We are looking forward to trying the Peruvian "breakfast" they serve on weekends. read more

For a decade now I've been operating on the belief that Peru has the best food in the world. The creativity of some of their dishes like papas a la huancaina and ceviche, I mean, who invented ceviche? That's creative. And their rotisserie chicken is the best anywhere. There are a lot of Peruvian places popping up lately. In Arlington and Fairfax there are some very popular places. I think place has the potential to be respected as one of the best Peruvian places around. I've tried a lot of items there. I mean, the chicken, you have to try. Very tender with the Peruvian spice mix that is loved by people near and far. They have excellent Pollo Saltado. I tried the platanos fritos. Just great, great food, and wash it down with some Inca Cola. You thought you died and went to Peru. But the rotisserie chicken isn't the best out of this world flavor. I've eaten here close to 500 times. Last night while doing the grocery shopping because my family is sick. My wife asked for lomo saltado from here favorite place. So I called to order so I could pick it up. It was 8:32 they close at 9pm, I was greeted with can you hold please. I then sat on hold while I listened to talking in the background (phone off the hook) for 8 minutes. I then call back for the next 10 minutes only to get a busy signal. Then the voicemail greeting after that. I decided to drive over, and when I arrived the three workers had the music blasting concert level, and they had the place torn apart obviously cleaning to go home. The first thing I saw was the phone off the hook, and the red light blinking. I asked why I was placed on hold, and why the phone was off the hook. The new Sardi's, as already mentioned in the tip. From my understanding, its essentially the same menu with different owners and of course, a different name. I got myself a chicken soup with 1/2 chicken, sides of plantains and black beans. Since the chicken arrived first, I broke my rule of eating soup first. The chicken is tender, but good. Very nice portions, albeit I did find some pink. They shouldn't give you plasticware to eat this stuff, but they did, and that makes it more tedious to eat and enjoy. My two sides were very good. The plantains were not mushy, and the black beans were meaty and flavorful. Their soups are big. The chicken soup came with pieces of chicken, fettuccine noodles not angel hair like the item is described to have, vegetables, and a whole potato. It's hot, but great to eat. I'm drooling just recounting my experience here. This is a casual, counter-serve establishment with some of the tastiest chicken I've ever had. For what you pay, you get a LOT of food. We were always pleased with this place until today, 01/05/23. My family and I walked in at 6:30pm. They had people dining and chicken still cooking on the grill. We decided on placing an order of 2 half chicken dark meat. The lady stated that they don't have dark meat and only have white meat. We said that we don't mind waiting. She said that they won't sell the new chicken that is on the grill until they sell the white meat that they have. WOW!!! Doesn't make sense to me at all! Especially seeing how they served dark meat to the customers in front of us! So we said that we won't be dining with you tonight or ever, and walked out! The lady was totally fine when we walked out. How is it our/customer problem that you are not selling white meat! We are driving from different town with a 5 year old only to hear that y'all won't sell me dark meat you have spinning on the grill just because you are trying to sell white meat! Went in for lunch with a friend. They didn't have any vegan entrees, so I was prepared to make a meal from the sides. Jose, the guy at the register was really helpful and suggested a few entrees that could be made vegan by taking out the meat and adding mushrooms. I got the chicken saltada with mushrooms instead of chicken and a side of Peruvian corn. It was really good and flavorful. The corn was massive and meaty but not in the animal meat way. Terrible customer service. The workers are rude and they really just don't care about your patronage. They'll tell you they're sold out of chicken if you have a preference for white vs dark meat. They also won't sell you a whole chicken bc they rather you purchase quarters for a higher price.
