The best items we enjoyed were the beverages. I ordered a iced mocha latte. It was choclately and full bodied. My husband ordered the strawberry Italian soda. It was refreshing and creamy. We waited quite some time for our food to be ready. The owner was kind and offered samples of cinnamon scone. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the scone. It was drier and crumblier than a typical scone. There was also a feint taste of residual plastic about the pastry. I'm not sure if this was from plastic wrap or their storage method. I didn't finish the sample. I got the Turkey caprese sandwich. They were very generous with the portion of Turkey on their sandwich. I appreciated that I felt satisfied eating half. I saved the other half for lunch. The sandwich was decent, but it wasn't super flavorful. My husband got the wicked good railway. It's a pressed croissant with two sausage Patties smothered in country gravy. I would say that this country gravy lacks seasoning. Typically country gravy is very heavily peppered, so much so that you should see black flecks of pepper sprinkled throughout. This country gravy was mediocre. There weren't any sausage bits in it either, which typically accompany country gravy. I'm rating this establishment an overall 3/5. Let me begin with how flaky and buttery the croissants were. I've been to France and these croissants are spot on. I ordered the Wake Up#1 with prosciutto and it was amazing. The croissant light and not too flaky which in my experience is a really good croissant. My husband ordered the Wicked Good Rail Croissant, which has a really good country gravy with sausage. He really enjoyed having a croissant made with country gravy. The cafe is a walk up order and they will bring the food to your table. Very friendly service. We have never been to this cafe and got some good recommendations while eating in line. This little hidden jem is a cute cafe with outside dining. Very bistro look setting outside with umbrellas for share. It is a local favorite for sure. They also have specialty coffee and pastries from Homeboy Industry. I would give this place 4.5 stars, as everything about this place is great. I had the bfast #1 w/bacon and it was HOT and tasty! it appears to be difficult to get HOT food these days! Hot choco was good; I think they shorted me an ounce or so, due to the froth settling. The other bigger ding was that they served me fresh fruit, ex. for the strawberries. Why serve customers unripe fruit? Especially since restaurant food prices are ridiculously high, the food has to be close to perfect, IMO. I ordered their nitro cold brew that was on point with its pour and rich full flavor like it's supposed to be and not flat like some others out there. I also got their seasonal specialty which was the peanut butter mocha. Now this totally blew me away with its flavor and the mug it came in! The railroad is 18°North off of Rail Side cafe, I don't know if that matters but this joint gave me and my wife an Italian feeling of the city side, maybe because of the music influence. Very nice outside dining area under huge humming pepper trees and red patio umbrellas to save us from the falling autumn leaves, birds still chirping. This brick building and red stone floor place was really meant for outdoor dinning because of its great corner area with a busy street view but camouflaged by their pleasant music. You come into this cozy area and order from the digital menu on the wall behind the counter, you can modify your order if you may, and then given a number and select your table, preferably outside. We both got their "Norway bagel" which was the bagel with salmon, cream cheese, capers and pesto sauce (tomatoes added) and coffee. The bagels hit the spot, portion was just right, I think something was missing, maybe the red onions, but that did not matter because my wife was busy admiring the place, lol! I'm pretty sure that all the rest of the menus are great. Everything is affordable. I have a strong feeling that this joint is family owned. Their menu is on an LED screen which makes it easier to read and see. I have to say the food was a little lack luster. I had the avocado toast and it didn't really wow me. You have the option of getting one or two pieces. I'd suggest getting the two because I got the one and it was half a toast. I feel like they should have an option to add an egg on top as that would help add more flavor. Each of my friends got a sandwich breakfast and was more stacked and hearty. Sadly, I will say the coffee wasn't the best. Both my friend and I thought the coffee had an odd taste as if it was burnt. It wasn't terrible, just a bit sweet. The London bagel was absolutely delicious! I'd never had roast beef on a bagel before, and I was uncertain about it until I took the first bite. The everything bagel was perfectly made and toasted, and the roast beef was juicy and well-coated in pesto. I wasn't the biggest fan of the pretzels, though they were more interesting than regular pretzels (they had some sort of flavor dusting). I found out too late that you can sub other items for the pretzels, so I plan to do that next time. What a great little place! COVID restrictions have us sitting outside, the same as always, which was very pleasant on a warm Friday morning. The menu is extensive with all manner of breakfasts: wraps, waffles, bagels, egg dishes. All can be made with egg white or whole egg, just ask. Lunch sandwiches sounded excellent too. My husband and I tried this place out a few weeks ago, and it was pretty nice. Right off the bat parking is not the best. We had to park near the park across the street. So be aware. Upon arrival a lot of their tables in the patio were taken by other customers, and we kinda had to wait to get a good one that wasn't directly under the sun. The cafe itself is really small, but does have table on the inside. The cafe offers a variety of drinks, and food options. Which is pretty cool. Kinda had a hard time choosing. I had the Norwegian bagel with a chai latte, while my husband had a pastrami bagel sandwich with an iced coffee. I can't say I would try the Norwegian bagel again tbh, the salmon had an odd texture and just kinda ruined it for me. My chai latte was a little flavorless but had potential. My husbands sandwich on the other hand was really good, and kinda regret not ordering that. Oh and his came with pretzels, while mine had no sides. His iced coffee was umm how do you say it, meeh.
