Raley's is a grocery store that prides itself on quality and selection and has both covered well. It isn't the most affordable, but it's still better than Whole Foods and some of the more high end specialty stores. This location isn't the best example of the Raley's brand but it still has a lot to offer. I've come here numerous times for numerous reasons: a full-on stock-up on groceries, grabbing odds and ends and, on my latest visit, buying twelve twenty pound bags of ice for a party. They have a better than average deli and I've always enjoyed their beer selection, which features beers I haven't been able to find at other grocers, including the prestigious Corti Brothers in East Sacramento. The employees are usually friendly and the clientele is an eclectic mix ranging from young gangbangers to old ladies from Land Park who are holding on to the time when you'd dress up to go out, even if it was to the store. If I could think of one improvement it would be more consistent staffing at peak hours. I've come in to multiple registers open with an almost empty store versus two lines open when the place was at its busiest. read more

I absolutely love using e-cart specifically at this location because Stacy ALWAYS calls to make sure I'm aware of what's going on with my order. I appreciate how she always offers great suggestions for my orders and is so helpful. I made the silly mistake of ordering a tri tip for a picnic before the Deli would have them ready (9am). Stacy called me and offered to do two seperate delievers, offered a free tri tip and told me it would be sliced for my picnic even. She definitely went above and beyond! That being said....I prefer ecart delievery because alot of the cashiers in store are distracted, checked out and very unhelpful. read more

Believing it is better to shop local, and prefering family owned stores, I have continued to make this my grocery store despite all the other options. For more than the past 40 years I have been a loyal Raleys customer at this location, but after tonight that is going to change. If they can't be loyal to me and provide the least amount of acomodation, then I will be shopping somewhere (anywhere) else from now on. I am disabled, and to describe grocery shopping as being ardous for me is no exageration. Because I shop infrequently and then stock up, I only go once a month (or less) and was dismayed by finding the cupons on the items I regularly buy that they send as part of their loyalty program, were unusable to me as they would expire. I called and discussed this problem with the store manager and he told me, "No problem, if they are store cupons we can honor them any time, unlike manufacturers cupons that we can't honor after the expiration date." So, today I go in and struggle through the store, get my cart full and go to checkout. That's when the big problem arose. When I hand over my cupons the cashier tells me they are expired, I explain that I had been told by the manager that store cupons are ok to use at any time etc. He does not take my word for it but calls someone else who comes and says, "No we can't accept these." I once again explain how I was told I could and have been doing so for a long time ... but to add insult to injury, this minor manager tells me, "No we can't override expired cupons and this has always been our policy." The expletive BS comes to mind, and the expression, "Don't piss up my leg and tell me it's rain.", but what I said was, "Don't tell me it has always been that way, because if so I would not have been told otherwise and been accomodated on this on a regular basis for the past several years." Well she continued to refuse, so I walked out of there without my groceries and have no plans to ever return to Raleys for more. I also had only recently switched over to their pharmacy but I guess that's out too; nice that a new CVS is about to open not far from there. I smite thee with 2 stars for your horrid bakery. I admit I'm feeling a bit vindictive and perhaps abusing the mighty power vested in me as a yelper, but it must have taken some serious effort to create such a putrid cookie. I've happily shopped at Raley's for years (and will continue to do so) and always eyed the bakery items with skepticism. My skepticism was confirmed when we unsealed the plastic sarcophagus, exumed the pale, dense mass, and partially consumed the salty, Play-Dohy, M&M cookies. The chocolate chip cookies were even worse, with some sort of crumbly, malignant, cluster of chococysts. I thought for a moment of bringing the cookies to work (which would no doubt confirm my theory that even the most unedible items will be devoured when left in a work break room), but could not bear to bring such evil upon my co-workers. So, perhaps for the first time in my life, I dropped the whole batch into the trash can with a thunderous thud. Good riddance, I say. Bakery aside, this is a great grocery store. The cookies should be damned to an eternity of negative stars. read more

This place is crazy huge. One of the employees told up they expanded into a furniture store. If you look at the left half of the store, the ceilings are lower and there are some skylights. Odd. HUGE inside! Every time I've gone, I've been struck with how suuuper nice the employees are. Awww, nostalgic moment here. The parts of our huge extended family were littered around this area of William Land Park so it was a natural inclination that I grew up with this Raley's location when out visiting the relatives. I've been jumping back and forth from SF to Sacramento lately due to recently dumping the loser-ex and finding time to just reflect during the long drives on the open road. If I'm not into running to my fave Safeway location in midtown, I'll be happy running to this location for my choice of produce and fruits. This location is huge. And expansive. It takes me forever to walk from the deli section to the film/battery department but they have basically everything. Slightly more expensive than Safeway but sometimes the globe grapes that I am into as well as the pluots and romaine lettuce reflect that. Clerks are attentive and cheerful to speak to, although sometimes the lines get a little long. I am also so liking the fact that it is close to Oto's. I pick up all the greens needed here then run over to Oto's for my slice of fresh hamachi. read more

Best grocery store! Great selection, great service, great price, friendly staff, fresh produce, quality meats.

I buy most of my produce from Terra Firma and supplement that with the Farmer's Market. That said, I go to Raley's to help fulfill the rest of my grocery needs. Bananas, soy milk, tonic water, etc. This is a huge supermarket which usually has anything I can think of. The staff is always super friendly and I really appreciate how nice they are to my toddler. The prices are reasonable and the lines usually flow very quickly. The only times I've been "stuck" have been through the fault of strange, persnickity customers, and not the staff. I've never tried the deli, bakery, pharmacy, or photo center here. So if you're going to Raley's for that, then I bow down to the other reviewers. But as far as basic grocery and household needs, it's a good place to go. read more

This is my home grocery store. I don't shop here often, but if I forget an ingredient at the other grocery stores that I frequent, this is where I come for a quick pick up. Their natrual foods section is awesome. They pretty much have everything I need, plus they have large bulk section. Sometimes things can be a little too expensive, but if you check in often enough you can get some awesome deals. Tip: check your junk mail. They often have coupons that can score you even sweeter deals! read more

I normally would never write a review, but if I could give this place zero stars, I would and it is solely because of this lady working in the flower department. I came in on mother's day, which I understand was totally last minute on my part and I was expecting it to be very busy but this blonde lady named lulu had the worst service I had experienced in my life. Anytime I asked her a question she talked down to me and made me feel like I was a burden asking for help when it is her job to help customers. I come in all the time and the people at the registers and the produce areas are always so kind, but after lulu I don't think I'll be going back. It was a complete mess near her area and I began to mind my own business because I really did not want to burden her, but I overheard her talking to other customers so harshly and when they would walk away she would laugh about them. Terrible energy she has created, no wonder the flowers are dying there's no way they could grow and be happy with someone so vile. read more

I just left Raley's after picking a prescription at the pharmacy. I have had my prescriptions filled at Raley's for years and I am considering changing. The staff (not the pharmacists) are unfriendly and rude. I have given them the benefit the doubt that people have their off days, but it continues, even at the new store. I did speak to a staff member on the way out who indicated she would pass along my feelings. I do have my doubts that things will change as there were complaints at the former location and still no change. read more

I am only giving them 3 stars because of the power outage that occurred just a few hours ago. My grandma had to go to the pharmacy and the power was out of wack because of the thunder and lightning. I have been going to Raley's for years. I like the fact that they have done upgrades. It feels so much better when you walk in. The one thing I like very much is that they have nice plants and beautiful flowers that I can purchase now that Target's garden section on Riverside Blvd. and Capital Nursery are closed. If you don't want to make the trip to Home Depot or Lowe's and live close to Raley's, you will get great flowers. The prices are also reasonable. I am looking at my beautiful flowers as I am writing this review. It is a one stop for all my needs. read more

I took my 4 prescriptions to the new Relay's at 4690 Freeport Blvd. I gave the woman my business card with my Name, phone # and email. 5 days later----nothing. After being on hold FOREVER was told they were ready. When I went to pick them up they had for me the phone # for the pharmacy that was on the bottles I gave them to make their life easier. I wish I had come to yelp.com before selecting Raley's because they have TERRIBLE ratings here. If they drop the ball one more time it will be time to move to another pharmacy. read more

I wanted to check out this Raley's because I've never been to this location and, having just moved to midtown, it is my new closest Raley's. I was pleased that the looks are deceiving; the outside looks a bit janky but the inside is just as nice as my old go-to Raley's. Plus I'm oddly in love with the structure itself. This is the longest Raley's I've ever seen. There are three entrances and when you're inside, the store seems to stretch on and on. It's like a stretch limo grocery store. The produce section is very nicely arranged. The deli counter had everything we were stopping in for- multiple ham selections for Easter noms, check and check. And while we were inside the overhead PA played Al Green and Scissor Sisters. YAAAAAS. Love this Raley's! read more

This store has the BEST music hands down and there's never a dull moment which gives it the perfect Land Park/city vibe. Twice the size of a typical Raley's, this is a ONE-STOP-SHOP. I've purchased everything from bird seed to lawn decor to potting soil along with my weekly necessities. Curtis Park Village will most likely include a new neighborhood grocer but I'm Loyal to my peeps. read more

This grocery store is HUGE.. I haven't even ventured into certain parts of it just because I don't need anything there but.. it's there. I'm super lazy and I love how I don't have to unload my own cart and the fact that they have 2 sizes of carts... the compact black and the standard family sized. The deli often runs out of items for their sandwiches at least in my experience they do.. the last time i had a sandwich there, they were out of the ciabatta it usually comes on and some of the mixed greens they put in my sandwich was brown! The Sizzling Wok people are very nice.. if you just hover for even a moment.. they're quick to offer you help or a sample of something. They have sushi rolls packaged there and I've seen a lady ask for some custom rolls because she didn't like certain ingredients and the guy she was speaking to was super accommodating.. it was unbelievable. Some days I've been in the checkout line and the poor cashier was getting bombarded with phone calls. Who calls the grocery store? It was seriously one after the other. Ring, hold, ring, no.. I must admit that this Raley's holds a special place in my heart because I grew up with it. I still remember the time when I was a little girl (like 7 years old) and really had to use the bathroom, but the only one I could find in the back was the men's restroom. Desperate, I ran into the stall and did my business, however a male worker came in to wash his hands. Being super embarrassed, I quickly ran outside, but he could definitely see me and my girly dress. (Just realized I didn't wash my hands....ewww.) This store isn't new or fancy, but it has a nice neighborhood feel to it. Being the only big supermarket in the area, it offers a lot of services and variety of goods. There are a lot of parking spaces, but none are in the shade unless you park on the side streets. They have a photo area, a lottery area, a Wells Fargo area (or is that gone?), a pharmacy, a coin-into-cash machine, ice machine, water machine, newspapers, hot wok, deli, bakery (you can get samples from there), etc. They now have self-check stations, which is great when you're in a rush or if you have to buy feminine products... They also now have sample stations set up throughout the store. (Hey, I'm always down for free samples!) What I find special is their service to help bring your bags out to your car. I've never used that service, but it's nice to have that option and I'm sure I'll need it in 40 years. Oh! In 8th grade, I had an assignment to interview someone of the profession that I was interested in, so I interviewed the pharmacist at Raley's. He was friendly and willing to answer my ridiculous questions. The employees are generally friendly and very approachable. (I learn that it's always really difficult to get a job at Raley's because they're really selective to hire only the best. And their benefits are really good.) Out of my 16 years of shopping at Raley's, I can only remember one bad encounter when an employee was rude to my older sister while we were shopping. CONS: The prices are not always the lowest, but they are not very pricey. The lines for the cashier can be a bit long and it makes it difficult to walk through it if you need something near there. And there always seem to be solicitors outside! read more

This is a pretty cool Raley's. It has a funky setup where it feels like two stores in one, all groceries on one side and a drug store on the other. Still it's a big place and they have everything. Great natural foods sections and a good variety of ethnic foods. My favorite part though is the self checkout. The guy who works there during the weekdays doesn't just hang back taking a nap. He is active and helpful at keeping the self checkout moving at a good pace. Plus he's a super-cool guy. I know that if I ever need to run in to pick up something quick, I won't have to wait long. read more

I do not yelp but I have to for this store. I usually shop at the Raley's on Marconi. This was my first time in the store a few days ago and I must say I am impressed and might even drive 20 minutes out of my way to shop here instead. I felt a little lost but I was helped by a few employees. JAKE in the dairy department very courteous so POLITE and took his time to help me find my few items in the back of the store that were not on the shelf. I don't buy a wide variety of things, so the selection is sufficient for my needs. It's close to where I live and is open when I need to go. However, I will be making it a point to purchase my meat elsewhere, as the few times I've gotten it here have been disappointing. There is a problem when you purchase ground beef, make the 10 minute walk home and pop it in the fridge, only to discover the next morning that it has turned completely brown and smells really off. (yes, my refrigerator is working properly, thanks for checking) Even the cat didn't want anything to do with it. The package looked fine in the store and had a few days remaining before the sell-by date, so it makes me wonder whether the date was incorrect or if it had been stored improperly for awhile before landing in my shopping basket. I will continue to come here for things that aren't easily screwed up like paper towels or coffee, but will be making it a point to go shopping a little earlier in the day, just a teensy bit further down the street. read more

The Freeport Raley's has great stock, friendly employees, decent prices, and even a mostly understandable layout. I do really like the store. But it is always freezing in there, so I keep a sweater in the car. And the music is almost always loud, pounding, and most unpleasant, clearly selected by someone far younger than I. Which means, I need to remember to keep earplugs in my sweater pocket. More ominously, every Raley's I've been to seems to require cashiers to ask invasive, even potentially dangerous, questions of customers. No, I don't want to announce in a public place what I have planned for the rest of the day! It's not inconceivable that someone overhearing my plans could follow me home and see where I live, then come back to burglarize my house later, knowing that I'm heading up to Tahoe for the day. Give me a break, and don't ask personal questions, please. Despite all this, I still like the store and I do go back, just remembering to bring my sweater and earplugs, and not to answer any personal questions! read more

I went to this location because I was working in the neighborhood and initially didn't grab a cart because I needed to use the restroom. When I came out of the restroom, I noticed a security guard just weirdly idling in a corner where he could observe the entire bathroom area. I washed my hands and left the area, not really thinking anything of it, until I looked up from the cards I was perusing to find the same guy standing at the end of the aisle, just standing there, watching me. Needless to say I was feeling uncomfortable at this point but I had to grab dinner for my family, so I headed over to the deli area which happens to be on the complete opposite end of the store from the cards. I was again perusing and was going back and forth as to whether or not I should grab dessert and finally decided on no. So I grabbed some meatloaf and went towards the registers, only to find, can you guess who, again idling 10 feet away. I was wondering if I was just paranoid so I went to a random aisle in the middle of the store to see if he magically appeared, and lo and behold, I wasn't being paranoid. Now, I'm a single working mother. I don't look homeless. I'm not a thief, but he sure treated me like I was, and it made me uncomfortable and frankly, it pissed me off. Especially when he then followed me to the register. I regularly shop at Raleys and Bel Air but after this experience, I believe I will take my hard earned money elsewhere. And to you, mister rent a cop, get a life. read more

Oh my goodness! I sure hope you did NOT miss the New York steaks for $5.00 per pound !!! I much to my delight they were on sale this week Monday and Tuesday only! So darn good! Thick bone in (not to much bone) I have never seen such a great sale before and I snagged some up for dinner! DELISH! I passed on the free run and next time I will gladly have the butcher put the rub on. We all enjoyed the steaks! Last week I saw artichokes 2 for $5.00...I passed because they were ALL brown ! Yuck! Recently moved to the Land Park area and have went to this location a few times and found it to be Ok. Pros: Clean and organized. Cons: It's a toss up if you will get a friendly cashier/employee to assist with checkout. Will return to this location. read more

The groceries here are a little expensive, but the produce is always fresh and delicious. The store is always clean and well organized. If you need help finding an item they will always show you were it is instead of you having to hunt around for it. It looks like they just remodeled the store and it looks beautiful and inviting. My son loves to go there because the bakery department will always give him a free cookie. read more

My experiences of late have been fairly good. I just can't get over the fact that the Hot Wok isn't there. I rarely bought anything at the Wok, but it was like tradition having the Wok there. Grew up with it being there. If I didn't want to order the American style fried chicken, I can always order the Chinese fried chicken...or whenever I was hankering for that chicken chow mein take-out, the Wok was there. They didn't have Challah bread today. I was super disappointed because we eat Challah bread on Labor Day, too. Had to travel everywhere just to get some Challah. read more

This Raley's is huge! I heard from an original Hollywood Park homeowner that it was two separate stores back in the day, which explains the weird set up. I mostly love this store because it's incredibly close to our house. I love that it's not a pain to run over to the store to grab forgotten ingredients or fresh bread and produce. Everyone is very nice and there's a great selection. Minus one star because figuring out where things are still confuses me after shopping here on a regular basis for over a year. Excellent customer service. Things are well stocked, kinda in a sketchy area for me. I gave this a low rating based on how the store is organized which made finding this difficult. They really need to do a new layout as to what products and categories of things needs to be near each other. I had to run around the store looking for things that should be near or in the same aisle. I want to go in and out of a store not feel like I'm on a treasure hunt for items. read more
