Adj: Dependable Like a faithful friend you can always count on is this Raley's. It's been on Freeport for decades! In fact I believe this is the flagship store and Raley's truly is a local establishment as the Raley family still owns and operates all of their stores throughout Sacramento and the bay area. Long ago, it was down the block a little bit, but it moved to this new location a block north where Capitol Nursery used to be. This Raley's location has now been here for almost 6 years as it has been in the Land Park neighborhood since it officially opened in April 2020. I didn't know this, but apparently it's 55,000 sf large! It's huge! I don't think there's another store location as big as this one. The previous site at 4850 Freeport Blvd was "only" about 35,000 sf and is being made into a Chuze Fitness gym, expected to open in summer 2026. What I like about this Raley's besides how new and clean it is, is that it really was thoughtfully designed especially with its modern touches, second floor mezzanine seating, outdoor dining, and a tasting room (also upstairs). The store also pays historical tribute to its history in Sacramento, featuring its refurbished iconic Raley's monument sign and the neon sign from Capital Nursery. The only thing that's challenging is that the parking lot is often very very busy and can be hard to find parking. Although generally more expensive than the other grocery stores I shop at, such as Safeway and Grocery Outlet, besides the all-under-one-roof big box and warehouse stores Target, Walmart, and Costco, the service at Raley's is usually more attentive and the store in much better shape in cleanliness and organization. Even though it's a privately held company, Raley's is not employee owned and was founded in 1935 by Tom Raley, so the company is now in its third generation of family ownership. Raley's operates over 230 locations, including Raley's, Bel Air, Nob Hill Foods, and Bashas' across several western states to include CA, NV, AZ, NM, OR, WA, and even AK. Specifically at this store, they really carry a lot of inventory, but not only of national brands and their own store brands, but what I like is that Raley's carries a lot of local brands to, to include boutique and mom & pop companies that are starting up and featuring a lot of homemade and farm-to-fork foods and products. Raley's also seems responsive to feedback from their customers such as the grocery economics we're all facing right now. So Raley's has rolled out a membership program that's free to join and you can then add lots of members-only deals on their app or website, and there's also weekly deals and specials. Overall, Raley's is a great grocery store that often gives back to the communities where they are, such as their generous giving to local schools and other good causes. It offers quality food and daily essential products. It's good to know that when I shop at Raley's, I'm supporting local and indirectly giving back to our community.

This store has open layout, good seasonal section, and nice greeting card/floral area. Sreyling helped me with my purchases today. Very friendly, helpful service today.

This review is specifically for the bakery. Went in after 6 hours on the road driving to Sac to visit family and wanted to get my sis a birthday cake last minute. The lady helping us was super helpful with recommendations and decorating the cake. The cake was also surprisingly sooo good. I typically get cakes from my favorite local bakery in Southern California and didn't have high expectations. However, this cake was good and my whole family enjoyed it. Don't sleep on the bakery here! I think I got lucky with a fresh cake.

The fact that I cut off

Really bummed about the meat department. I bought a tri tip tonight and was frustrated to see how much fat cap was left on the back side of the meat. The top looked perfect; when I got it home, it was a much different story. Take a look at the pictures! I cut off over 10.5 ounces of fat . More than $7 I had to cut off. This happened to me when I shopped at the Raleys in Woodland and I thought it was only their meat department. I doubt I will be buying tri-tip from the Raleys on Freeport Boulevard again.

A gem of a Raley's at Freeport Blvd! Clean grocery store with Superchargers for EV cars. The loft area is like an airport lounge but in a grocery store! The loft is a great place to bring your laptop and get work done or just chill out to escape the Sacramento heat, as well as the perfect place to hang out for Tesla superchargers. Add the friendly staff and neighborhood and this is a 5 star location!

My body almost turned me around immediately, but I was sooo hungry and it was almost 3pm and I hadn't eaten all day. But the place was really really dirty, there was leaking water on the floor in front of the many potato chips near the cash register. I watched a little girl (unknowingly) dance around in it and prayed she didn't slip. Anyway, I ordered the tritip plate with double potato salad. The tritip was "ok" it was sliced super thin. And so it wasn't tough or anything. Not necessarily how I like it sliced, but ok. The sauce was pretty good. The potato salad was super bland. Only thing that was delicious was the slice of German chocolate cake that I got from an outside vendor called "Terri Does Dessert". THAT was super good! But yeah, this place. I don't know. I don't think they would pass a health inspection.

My to-go order is the Hornet on a Dutch crunch roll with everything on it except mustard. Make it a combo with chips and a drink, and you'll have an incredible lunch. The ambiance is different from other sandwich spots in midtown. The chairs and tables are older and worn, and it's small inside, but it's also inside an old house that was converted into a restaurant. That alone makes this place unique. People hang out inside or outside with friends and enjoy the vibes. There's a real sense of community that the Sandwich Spot brings along with uniquely crafted sandwiches. All of the sandwiches are named after people or landmarks in Sacramento. The staff are all friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and will help you with recommendations if you're not sure which sandwich to get. It honestly feels like you're in the company of good friends. The staff joke around and seem to enjoy their job and working together. The restaurant is in a really cool old Victorian house, and the staff were super friendly. The interior was clean and looked like a nice place to dine in, but I ended up taking my order to go. I ordered the #19 with turkey, prosciutto, avocado, and swiss on a dutch crunch roll. The bread had just gone into the oven, so we had to wait about 10 minutes, but I can't complain because it was baked fresh to order. Overall, I thought the sandwich was very good, but honestly not quite as amazing as people online had made it out to be. It was definitely good, but I don't know if I'd be dying to go back when I think Ike's, Mr. Pickle's, Corti Bros, and maybe even Nugget or Sprouts make more interesting sandwiches. To me, those places use slightly higher quality ingredients as well, though maybe I just didn't order the best sandwich here. Overall, it was a good sandwich and a good experience. My expectations were probably just a little too high. I wouldn't be dying to come back but also wouldn't say no if someone wanted to go there for lunch.

For those living in the neighborhood this is such a convenient spot. This is a smaller grocery store so you won't be able to find everything, but what they do have is plenty. There's fresh produce, wine, beer, shelf stable items essential to everyday recipes, and where they really shine is their deli and butcher area. They also have some prepared items like desserts, salads, dressings, pickles, dips, and more. On my latest visit I ended up ordering their Italian Hero ($11.99) from the deli counter, and picked up some of their pickles and house made caesar dressing. Everything was high quality and I loved that they have these options available. The Caesar dressing is delicious and I'll definitely be stopping in again for more. I've been using it on salads since picking it up. It had a good amount of parmesan cheese so The pickles have a very unique flavor, they're definitely tasty but not my favorite version of Dill Pickles- they are more tangy and zingy that traditional dill pickles, not bad just not what I expected. (I was thinking more kosher dill, like Claussen pickles or like the pickles you'd get at a Jewish deli). The sandwich was the star of the show, for $11.99 it was HUGE, the Italian Hero comes with prosciutto, mortadella, salami, roasted red bell pepper, and provolone- all sandwiches also come with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, and pepperoncini. The combination of ingredients on Dutch Crunch bread was amazing and I think having roasted red peppers as an option is underrated, it elevates a sandwich so much. While I wouldn't do my normal shopping here, I would absolutely come for specialty items or pick up needed items for convenience. I'll be back again soon!
