Original King Ramen and Fried Chicken Karaage
    Winny K.

Still love the Original King Ramen and fried chicken karaage! Their noodles and broth always hits the spot, and love how easy it is to customize toppings and salt/sauce levels. We went for lunch on the weekend, and there was a line, but we got through it fairly quickly. The service was fast, friendly, and efficient as usual. Ambiance is casual.

Coming in during the last 10 minutes before closing time, I really didn't think a big group of 16 would be allowed in, but the gracious staff of Ramen Magi not only added us to their list but also gave us menus ahead of time. There were 2 other groups in line. To get us seated and served quickly, the staff came to the line to pass out order forms, answer any questions, and confirm our orders. This made the whole process efficient. The great service continued from the time we sat down through the end of our meal. I tried the potstickers that were fried together into a pancake shape, and tonkatsu ramen. Both were fine, but I wish I got what my husband ordered which was a black squid ink and garlic. The standout really was the service. We were celebrating July birthdays and the restaurant staff didn't rush us while gifts were being opened. In fact our server even helped take pictures.

Don't be deceived, it's more a quick service type of restaurant where they give you a paper menu and you order at the front. But the service is good. Fast and quick with attentive servers. It's a bit small feeling or crowded feeling when you eat inside, but the food is just great. I'm not someone who goes out of her way for ramen, but this is definitely one I would personally suggest sometimes locally. Inside the mall with patio looking outward! Crystal court side!

Solid service. Yummy ramen that is customized to your taste. Tonnes of parking. Always good.

A convenient location in south coast away from the crowds. Original king ($17) - tonkotsu broth. I selected cabbage which gave it a slight sweetness to the overall flavor. The ramen was chewy and Chashu was so tender. Red king - chili oil and cayenne broth. It's not as spicy as it looks! It almost tasted like gochuchang with a lingering smokiness. Chicken karage ($8.25) - sweet soy glazed crispy juicy chicken. The egg sauce that came with it was divine!

finally got to try out ramen nagi! i pretty much got the recommended options but opted for less oil. it was so flavorful & filling. i like that they offer pork options. since im not the biggest fan of pork belly, i got pork shoulder which is leaner! its also tender and doesnt taste old. the side of bean sprouts in sesame oil was one of the highlights!! so yummy service was streamlined & efficient. they were also professional and polite! the inside is kind of cramped. the tables are a little too close together. I felt like i was sharing a table with the people next to me

Randomly came here for lunch while shopping. You get a slip while you're in line to order. There's so many customizations. You can adjust your salt, oil, ramen type, and firmness. They have 4 soup ramen types plus a new tsukemen. You can make your perfect ramen. Add one like egg and seaweed are optional as well. Their spice level 2 for the red ramen is a very comforting spice. Service was great as well. They note where you're sitting so each person gets the right food. There's a water already at the table as well. Food came out in less than 5 mins. Our waitress was attentive enough to offer bibs so the red sauce didn't get on my clothes. The inside is a bit small but they have large patio seating. Most parties eat and finish within 30 min since you're not waiting for the food for a while. There's enough space to walk around without bumping into people.

Came here after a friend recommended it to me, the ramen here is really great. Their Red King has the perfect amount of spice -- I'd recommend getting it with the thicker noodles over the thin. The interior is beautiful and the staff are lovely. They were super attentive and helpful with our party and really made the experience immersive.

We decided to try this place near South Coast plaza because we wanted ramen. It was really good. I had the original flavor with pork belly, cabbage, and an egg. The flavor was rich and the noodles were well cooked. The one thing I didn't like was the pork belly. Instead of slices of pork belly it was just one big nugget. How are you supposed to eat this?!? Also, it had some kind of sweet bbq sauce on it that clashed with the flavor of the broth. I'm never ordering the pork belly again. My wife had the Red King broth, which she liked because she doesn't like the pork flavor, so that's a good option if you like ramen but don't want the rich pork flavored broth.

Great ramen spot that I just learned about courtesy of my siblings. We did a Father's Day get together here which was perfect as they have a nice big patio. First off I want to say their staff/service was fantastic for our party of 14. So they deserve a solid 5 stars. Food wise, the ordering is really easy just mark up the menu and check off the way you want your ramen prepared. Since it was my first time here and I like spicy I opted for one of their popular ones the Red King. I upped the spice level a notch went with the chashu, added an egg and stuck with the chef recommendations. Overall I loved it, the broth was definitely a little thicker than I am use to. It was hearty and filling, I even got extra noodles. I will definitely come back to try the Green King since I love basil and really want to try their thick noodles.

    Squid ink ramen (Black King)

Located next to Sonoma Williams. Each bowl is customizable and they have four main ramens (Regular tonkatsu, spicy, squid ink, and veggie). Went with the squid ink and the spicy. I will say the noodles itself is very good. Tastes very fresh and you can just taste the tenderness as it melts in your mouth when you chew it. It is not too chewy or does not break apart too easily. We also tried the chashu in one bowl and the pork belly on one bowl. For about $20 a bowl I will say I was a little disappointed that it only came with one small piece of pork belly, which was a little too rough and chewy. The other bowl came with two very thin slices of chashu. However the chashu was really good! I would say one of the best chashu I have ever tasted. So tender and very flavorful. The broth itself was a miss for me. The red king spicy tonkotsu was salty, and the taste was just heat with little flavor. With the squid ink (Black King), I just felt like the flavor was missing. It didn't have any unique taste to it. I think I would go regular tonkotsu next time. The chicken karaage had a nice glaze to it and was very crispy! Tastes kind of like a honey sesame. Overall, very good noodles and chashu. Portion on the smaller side with little broth flavor (For red king and squid ink).

I was so happy to come back here because this place always hits! I usually get the Red Ramen, and it was really good as always, but next time I'll probably adjust the saltiness. I chose the normal salt level, and it ended up being a little saltier than I personally prefer, so I'll definitely go with a lower level next time. For the spice, I usually go around level 3-5. As someone who LOVES spicy food, I think level 5 is perfect if you can handle a decent amount of heat. It gives the ramen a really nice kick without taking away from the flavor. I also really liked the portion size and all the toppings. The bean sprouts on the side were a nice touch, the egg was delicious, and everything came together really well. One of my favorite things about this place is how customizable the ramen is. You can adjust everything to your preference, from the spice level to the saltiness, which makes it easy to find your perfect bowl. The ramen tastes authentic, flavorful, and comforting. I'll definitely keep coming back!

I love Ramen Nagi and it's my brother's favorite ramen spot! You get to customize heaviness, oil garlic and noodle type! I always get the Green King which is my favorite!!! The service is always amazing all the servers are attentive when we need extra noodles! Plenty of seating and cool Japanese decor and we haven't waited longer than 20 minutes for a seat. I would also recommend ordering the chicken Karaage if you are super hungry! Great location as it's walking distance to other dessert places.

This wasn't just a "ramen joint"--it was a masterclass in authentic Fukuoka-style soul food. The Broth: Liquid Gold The standout was always their Signature Tonkotsu broth. You could literally taste the 30+ hours of labor that went into it. It had that distinct "frothy" texture (the bubble of the bone marrow) that you only find in high-end Hakata shops. It was rich, creamy, and carried a deep umami funk without ever being overly greasy. The Hits * Black Tonkotsu: The roasted garlic oil (mayu) added a smoky, dark complexity that ruined all other garlic ramens for me. * God Fire: For those who like to sweat, this offered the perfect balance of heat without sacrificing the integrity of the pork flavor. * The Karaage: Genuinely some of the best fried chicken in the area. Massive, juicy thigh meat with a shattering, thin crust and that addictive spicy mayo on the side. * Customization: I loved that they let you pick your noodle firmness. "Hard" was the only way to go to ensure that perfect snap with every bite. The Atmosphere The Costa Mesa location always had a great energy--functional, clean, and unpretentious. The staff were always efficient, greeting everyone with a loud "Irasshaimase!" that made the experience feel truly authentic. It's heartbreaking to see such a high-caliber spot leave the neighborhood. If you were lucky enough to eat here, you know we lost a heavy hitter. To the team at Ikkousha: thank you for the memories and the best bowls in the city. You'll be sorely missed! We had actually expected just the usual soup ramen place, but later discovered that, although a view varieties of ramen noodles are offered on their menu, their specialty was in fact the dried version of a bowl of soup ramen noodles, or what our server referred to as a bowl of "reverse" ramen noodles, better known as Mazemen noodles.... sounded really yummy so far as I have always preferred dry noodles to soup ones. So, my wife went ahead and ordered a bowl of spicy California Tonkotsu ramen noodles, and I went with the Saitama Chicken Mazemen noodles..... and some handmade spicy wonton and fried Karaage Chicken on the side. Our food came out pretty fast, super hot, super fresh, and super delicious! I tried some of my wife's soup ramen, and yes, had great flavor... not too salty, and perfectly medium firm ramen noodles. As for my Mazemen noodles....woweee!.... this was my first time trying Mazemen noodles, with a large board on the wall with instructions on how Wadaya's Mazemen noodles should be eaten. When the instructions were followed, I dug straight in and...mmmmm good! The combination of ingredients in the bowl.... peppered ground chicken, scallions, chives, poached egg, minced garlic, fish umami, and seaweed flakes.... when all tossed together just made for an amazingly delicious bowl of noodles! I really loved and enjoyed it so very much! The Chicken karaage and spicy wontons were very delicious too and went great with our noodles. Other than that, very cute and cozy ambiance... like a little Japanese ramen place, service was excellent.. our server was so nice, so friendly, so attentive, and so helpful.... this made for just the perfect lunch! This place may not be as high profiled as other more popular and well known brands of ramen places, but it's definitely one of the best we've ever tried, and we'll definitely be back soon.

To my surprise, it was a good experience that we had. The shop was small, but the staff has a workflow nailed down. The parking was not too terrible on a weekday evening -- I was worried about the warnings, so we parked on the street. When walking to the hotel, I saw that there were many open spaces in the parking lot! We had the chicken cartillage and the calamari for appetizers. The cartillage was good, but portion was quite small. Some additional seasoning/salt would have also made it much better! The calamari was definitely VERY different from other places, but I liked the batter texture. What I loved about the ramen here is that they let you customize from the noodle size, texture, spice level, and the salt level! I always prefer the thicker noodle type, so I found it comforting to be able to request it at no extra charge. Beware there is extra charge for Spice level 4 & 5! I had the Garlic Tonkotsu ramen, which was flavorful and not too salty/creamy. My fiance had the Tan Tan ramen at level 5 spice, which he thought it was not spicy (it was for me!) and not as flavorful as what I ordered. Overall, I would definitely revisit this shop next time I'm in Oahu!

The server doesn't apologize - he states it's already been picked up. How? I ask if they don't verify the DoorDash confirmation for pickup. The server Kendrick tells me they do, but scammers show up with the exact order confirmation screen and pick up orders. Honestly sounds like BS to me, considering they have pickup orders by the front door on a shelf that anyone could take. Either way, the lack of an immediate apology or questions to clarify just point to the fact that he assumed immediately I was a scammer. Okay, annoying. But whatever. I want my food. I ask to have it remade - they're still seating people and people are ordering. They're not closing anytime soon. He tells me they won't remake it. I ask why and he continues to insinuate I'm a scammer and a thief trying to pick up someone else's order. He tells me to cancel my order. I'm beyond pissed at this point because I can't even get a refund via DoorDash because it's already being prepared. So I go back and talk to him again. He continues to refuse to cancel the order or remake it. He gets on the phone with a "Peter" who he claims is the manager. It gets really fun from here. Peter listens to my story and says there's nothing they can do. He says scammers do that all the time, and every restaurant deals with it. Okay, so how has it never happened to me at ANY restaurant? And how have I NEVER heard of it happening? So Peter, after refusing to do anything for me for a while, finally says he'll talk to the server to try and cancel the order from their end. Fine. I hand the phone back to Kendrick and he walks inside. I wait 7 min and no updates. So I go inside and ask him if he's canceling the order. He says, "what do you mean?" I tell him the manager said he'd tell him to cancel the order. Kendrick says, "he was telling you to do that". More gaslighting lmfaoooooo. I tell him no, he told you to. Again, I'm pissed beyond belief at this point and again, I can't get a refund via DoorDash because it's already "being prepared". You would think saying that 3 times is enough for them to finally get it but no. I wasted 20 min driving here, and another 25 waiting for a resolution for this BS. Kendrick tells me he can't cancel the order twice. I just ignore him and wait. 3 min later he goes "I canceled it". Like... you guys are acting like I'm the scammer when you clearly are the ones trying to pull some shady stuff. I FINALLY get my refund and Kendrick says, "sorry I just work here." Brother, that's not your line. You say that when, for example, corporate has a policy that no one likes. This all stemmed from you and your team's incompetence. The lying and gaslighting is absolutely crazy. 25 min and they either could've just refunded me or remade my order. A waste of time. I'll never visit any Slurpin again - this was just pathetic. Not a single bit of sincerity or willingness to help. The manager sounded like he was tired of talking to me, and our conversation lasted 2 min (I'm not even exaggerating). If you want food, don't go here. If you want to keep your money, don't come here. However, if you want to be treated like a liar and a scammer from the second you walk in, then this place is perfect.
