    Potsticker pancake

Coming in during the last 10 minutes before closing time, I really didn't think a big group of 16 would be allowed in, but the gracious staff of Ramen Magi not only added us to their list but also gave us menus ahead of time. There were 2 other groups in line. To get us seated and served quickly, the staff came to the line to pass out order forms, answer any questions, and confirm our orders. This made the whole process efficient. The great service continued from the time we sat down through the end of our meal. I tried the potstickers that were fried together into a pancake shape, and tonkatsu ramen. Both were fine, but I wish I got what my husband ordered which was a black squid ink and garlic. The standout really was the service. We were celebrating July birthdays and the restaurant staff didn't rush us while gifts were being opened. In fact our server even helped take pictures.

finally got to try out ramen nagi! i pretty much got the recommended options but opted for less oil. it was so flavorful & filling. i like that they offer pork options. since im not the biggest fan of pork belly, i got pork shoulder which is leaner! its also tender and doesnt taste old. the side of bean sprouts in sesame oil was one of the highlights!! so yummy service was streamlined & efficient. they were also professional and polite! the inside is kind of cramped. the tables are a little too close together. I felt like i was sharing a table with the people next to me

Don't be deceived, it's more a quick service type of restaurant where they give you a paper menu and you order at the front. But the service is good. Fast and quick with attentive servers. It's a bit small feeling or crowded feeling when you eat inside, but the food is just great. I'm not someone who goes out of her way for ramen, but this is definitely one I would personally suggest sometimes locally. Inside the mall with patio looking outward! Crystal court side!

Solid service. Yummy ramen that is customized to your taste. Tonnes of parking. Always good.

A convenient location in south coast away from the crowds. Original king ($17) - tonkotsu broth. I selected cabbage which gave it a slight sweetness to the overall flavor. The ramen was chewy and Chashu was so tender. Red king - chili oil and cayenne broth. It's not as spicy as it looks! It almost tasted like gochuchang with a lingering smokiness. Chicken karage ($8.25) - sweet soy glazed crispy juicy chicken. The egg sauce that came with it was divine!

Randomly came here for lunch while shopping. You get a slip while you're in line to order. There's so many customizations. You can adjust your salt, oil, ramen type, and firmness. They have 4 soup ramen types plus a new tsukemen. You can make your perfect ramen. Add one like egg and seaweed are optional as well. Their spice level 2 for the red ramen is a very comforting spice. Service was great as well. They note where you're sitting so each person gets the right food. There's a water already at the table as well. Food came out in less than 5 mins. Our waitress was attentive enough to offer bibs so the red sauce didn't get on my clothes. The inside is a bit small but they have large patio seating. Most parties eat and finish within 30 min since you're not waiting for the food for a while. There's enough space to walk around without bumping into people.

Came here after a friend recommended it to me, the ramen here is really great. Their Red King has the perfect amount of spice -- I'd recommend getting it with the thicker noodles over the thin. The interior is beautiful and the staff are lovely. They were super attentive and helpful with our party and really made the experience immersive.

We decided to try this place near South Coast plaza because we wanted ramen. It was really good. I had the original flavor with pork belly, cabbage, and an egg. The flavor was rich and the noodles were well cooked. The one thing I didn't like was the pork belly. Instead of slices of pork belly it was just one big nugget. How are you supposed to eat this?!? Also, it had some kind of sweet bbq sauce on it that clashed with the flavor of the broth. I'm never ordering the pork belly again. My wife had the Red King broth, which she liked because she doesn't like the pork flavor, so that's a good option if you like ramen but don't want the rich pork flavored broth.

Truly one of the best ramen bowls in greater so cal. This is strictly tonkotsu ramen. Started going to the century city location and now that the south coast is here I can go more often. The broth is transcendental reminiscent of ramens I had in Tokyo and is perfect every time. The bean sprouts on the table are unbelievable just like the gyozas. Can't say enough about this beautiful place. UMAI!!! Gozaimas!

I was so happy to come back here because this place always hits! I usually get the Red Ramen, and it was really good as always, but next time I'll probably adjust the saltiness. I chose the normal salt level, and it ended up being a little saltier than I personally prefer, so I'll definitely go with a lower level next time. For the spice, I usually go around level 3-5. As someone who LOVES spicy food, I think level 5 is perfect if you can handle a decent amount of heat. It gives the ramen a really nice kick without taking away from the flavor. I also really liked the portion size and all the toppings. The bean sprouts on the side were a nice touch, the egg was delicious, and everything came together really well. One of my favorite things about this place is how customizable the ramen is. You can adjust everything to your preference, from the spice level to the saltiness, which makes it easy to find your perfect bowl. The ramen tastes authentic, flavorful, and comforting. I'll definitely keep coming back!

Great ramen spot that I just learned about courtesy of my siblings. We did a Father's Day get together here which was perfect as they have a nice big patio. First off I want to say their staff/service was fantastic for our party of 14. So they deserve a solid 5 stars. Food wise, the ordering is really easy just mark up the menu and check off the way you want your ramen prepared. Since it was my first time here and I like spicy I opted for one of their popular ones the Red King. I upped the spice level a notch went with the chashu, added an egg and stuck with the chef recommendations. Overall I loved it, the broth was definitely a little thicker than I am use to. It was hearty and filling, I even got extra noodles. I will definitely come back to try the Green King since I love basil and really want to try their thick noodles.

    Squid ink ramen (Black King)

Located next to Sonoma Williams. Each bowl is customizable and they have four main ramens (Regular tonkatsu, spicy, squid ink, and veggie). Went with the squid ink and the spicy. I will say the noodles itself is very good. Tastes very fresh and you can just taste the tenderness as it melts in your mouth when you chew it. It is not too chewy or does not break apart too easily. We also tried the chashu in one bowl and the pork belly on one bowl. For about $20 a bowl I will say I was a little disappointed that it only came with one small piece of pork belly, which was a little too rough and chewy. The other bowl came with two very thin slices of chashu. However the chashu was really good! I would say one of the best chashu I have ever tasted. So tender and very flavorful. The broth itself was a miss for me. The red king spicy tonkotsu was salty, and the taste was just heat with little flavor. With the squid ink (Black King), I just felt like the flavor was missing. It didn't have any unique taste to it. I think I would go regular tonkotsu next time. The chicken karaage had a nice glaze to it and was very crispy! Tastes kind of like a honey sesame. Overall, very good noodles and chashu. Portion on the smaller side with little broth flavor (For red king and squid ink).

I love Ramen Nagi and it's my brother's favorite ramen spot! You get to customize heaviness, oil garlic and noodle type! I always get the Green King which is my favorite!!! The service is always amazing all the servers are attentive when we need extra noodles! Plenty of seating and cool Japanese decor and we haven't waited longer than 20 minutes for a seat. I would also recommend ordering the chicken Karaage if you are super hungry! Great location as it's walking distance to other dessert places.

A Legendary Slurp - Gone But Never Forgotten It is a true…read moretragedy for the Orange County food scene that Hakata Ikkousha in Costa Mesa has closed its doors. This wasn't just a "ramen joint"--it was a masterclass in authentic Fukuoka-style soul food. The Broth: Liquid Gold The standout was always their Signature Tonkotsu broth. You could literally taste the 30+ hours of labor that went into it. It had that distinct "frothy" texture (the bubble of the bone marrow) that you only find in high-end Hakata shops. It was rich, creamy, and carried a deep umami funk without ever being overly greasy. The Hits * Black Tonkotsu: The roasted garlic oil (mayu) added a smoky, dark complexity that ruined all other garlic ramens for me. * God Fire: For those who like to sweat, this offered the perfect balance of heat without sacrificing the integrity of the pork flavor. * The Karaage: Genuinely some of the best fried chicken in the area. Massive, juicy thigh meat with a shattering, thin crust and that addictive spicy mayo on the side. * Customization: I loved that they let you pick your noodle firmness. "Hard" was the only way to go to ensure that perfect snap with every bite. The Atmosphere The Costa Mesa location always had a great energy--functional, clean, and unpretentious. The staff were always efficient, greeting everyone with a loud "Irasshaimase!" that made the experience feel truly authentic. It's heartbreaking to see such a high-caliber spot leave the neighborhood. If you were lucky enough to eat here, you know we lost a heavy hitter. To the team at Ikkousha: thank you for the memories and the best bowls in the city. You'll be sorely missed! Note: For those still craving that specific broth, their Torrance locations are still holding it down--definitely worth the drive to keep the dream alive. Come back to OC! !

Fried Squid Leg Crispy on the outside and wonderfully chewy inside. So addictive and perfect for sharing! Kakuni - Braised Pork Belly Tender, juicy pork belly with a savory-sweet Japanese flavor. We got seated about 15 minutes after the store opened. As I expected, the space was cozy and noisy, a little much for my mother, who is sensitive to ambient noise. The music was all Japanese pop music! I ordered the inaka soba. Our server helpfully advised me that it was conventional soba--rather than a broth, it came in a sweet-savory sauce. I never tried inaka soba before (not even in rural Japan), so I had to try it. The first surprise was the noodles. They were thinner than what I normally get, but clearly freshly made. They were chewy and hearty. Both my mom and I were surprised by the shiitake mushrooms because they were simmered in a sweet bath. I couldn't place the taste. Maybe mirin with less salt or soy sauce than usual? Overall, the mix of grated daikon, sesame seeds, finely shredded nori, dried bonito flakes, green onions, and egg was a nice classical Japanese mix of flavors, and the wasabi added a nice spike. As our server said, it was a sweet-savory sauce that wasn't too sweet. The experience was kind of like the mazemen that is trending right now. I wanted to mix it all while it was hot, and ended up eating it quickly before my spouse and mom finished their food. My mom kept commenting on how good the broth was. It was light, without the heavy soy sauce or sugar flavors that you find in some places. The udon noodles were first rate. Fresh and chewy. I could see why people were lining up outside for them. My mom got nabeyaki udon, which included chicken, egg, fish cake, and green onion. My spouse had sansai udon. The sansai tasted like it might have been gotten fresh from California, even though that is unlikely. I never had sansai like that in the US before. It turns out the noise was not a problem as we ate because we just chowed down silently, commenting on the food every now and then. It's not a place to linger over conversation with friends anyway, because they limit you to 90 minutes at your table. One big bonus for Meiji Seimen: parking is easy. Some minor things. I was a little disappointed that they wanted you to use your cell phone to look at the menu. The print on the phone was tiny, and I couldn't zoom in. It got slightly bigger when I rotated my phone, but then you see less of the menu at once. They did have old print menus on hand, which were easier to see. The space was very small, and because they were so busy the staff were always walking through with trays of food in the narrow space between tables. We are small people and don't need a walker, but I wonder how the experience might be for people who need more space to walk. And then there was the noise level. It's rare that I want to visit a place again right away, but I'm eager to try the other dishes Meiji Seimen has to offer!
