I've been a fan of Ramen Takumi when they were over on 11/12 street & university. Love that they're closer to my office. Came with my girl friends for a quick dinner and everything was great!! No wait, around 5pm. Service was quick and the waiter was patient... you know, when girls are catching up, we forget to decide on food. Food came quick and was so tasty and warmed our body & soul on a cold winter night. It does get crowded around 6pm on a week night and the place is full of chatter, and slurping! Def a great place for a quick. It's if you're in area!

Nothing beats a steaming bowl of ramen on a cold day. Ramen Takumi offers a variety of ramen options alongside traditional Japanese favorites like chicken katsu, teriyaki, sushi, and more. Their Tan Tan ramen is a delicious spicy broth with thin noodles, ground pork, boiled egg, scallions, bean sprouts. I expected it to be spicier, but you can request your preferred spice level. The service was splendid, and I felt like I has always been taken care of it. The spot itself is really cute. The walls are decorated with manga, which gives it a fun vibe.

Ambiance (4/5): Inside is super tight with tables almost sitting on top of each other. However, the establishment has a very cozy vibe with the wooden panels along the walls. The place is dimly lit with a moderate noise volume. It was a full restaurant at 7:30p on a weeknight but I was solo and seated immediately. Service (5/5): Several staff members bustling around but I felt like I was attended to during my whole stay. It took approx. 20 minutes for my ramen to be served. Tonkotsu Ramen (4/5): The broth was umami but missing something (I had to ask for chili oil for additional flavoring/spice). The charsiu pork was a bit on the dry side but at least they were two medium sized thick cuts. The soft boiled marinated egg was delicious. The ramen noodles were straight-cut so not the usually chewy bites that I prefer. I think overall, it was good but not everything I had hoped for.

When it's cold outside, a warm bowl of ramen usually does the trick. Came across this location after a long Black Friday shopping adventure. Walk-ins are welcomed and we got seated right away. From ordering to the food arrival, it was an acceptable time. For Food we ordered a miso and shoyu ramen. Both were good, but personally the miso was a lot more flavorful and richer than the shoyu which tasted a bit basic. Overall I would recommend coming and trying their menu, will come back again to try others

A great place to stop by if you're near Washington Square park. This is a spot I frequent that always has great customer service and seats quickly. The space is self is very beautiful with anime and mangas illustrations on the wall and cherry blossoms trimming the wooden panels along the ceiling. The food is great, I usually go for a Tan Tan ramen if not the sushi. Recently tried the YUBU set, it's pretty good the Spicy Tuna was great, it was sweet and filling. Highly recommend.

Came here for dinner a few weeks ago on a Thursday and it wasn't too busy at the time. We ordered a few things, all of which were great - and service was fast and efficient. The vibe is casual and I can imagine given the locale, it's probably ideal for college students in the area. Would definitely recommend the karaage as well as the chicken katsu curry ramen! The menu is pretty expansive so I'll definitely stop back in to try other items. A great last minute option for an affordable and delicious meal.

Had to come here since they offer an NYU student discount and are so close to campus, I figured this would be a great place to get ramen on a cold evening. I went with a friend and we shared the "Stern Roll" which was pretty okay, and kinda pricey, even for sushi. I went for the dipping ramen made with chicken and chicken broth (the default might be pork on that one), and the noodles were good but the broth was too salty for my liking. We also ordered the chicken katsu set which is definitely the most bang for your buck and it comes with a Japanese curry upgrade and the curry was so flavorful and definitely worth the additional $2. Service wasn't great, we had to make it in time for class and kept having to chase our waiters down, despite it being not too busy. Come for the lunch specials!

Great food and quick service! Right near NYU and affordable prices for students, including a 10% discount. Perfect cold day stop with intimate, indoor seating

Very good ramen! Ingredients were fresh and plentiful. Service was good and even the bathroom was clean and nice.

Note that I was there as 1 person and when it was only slightly busy. Ordering was simple, the waiters were chill, and the food came out hot and perfect spice. It was really peaceful in the restaurant too. 9/10

The whole experience is a journey lol. You customize your ramen exactly how you want it and then sit in these little individual booths that are meant to let you actually focus on the food. The broth was rich and creamy, the noodles were so good, and mixing the spicy sauce into everything was probably my favorite part. AND GET THE EGG. It comes in the shell and you crack it yourself, which somehow makes the whole thing even more fun, and it was cooked perfectly. My friend couldn't finish her ramen, so naturally I finished hers too That should tell you everything you need to know. Service was super quick and easy. You barely interact with anyone because of how the booths work, but that's part of what makes it so cool. The ramen is $21, which honestly isn't bad for Times Square. Good food, such a cool experience, and definitely somewhere I'd go back to.

Some of the staff has been here for a while, which tells me it is a well managed operation. Quality is still the focus at TONCHIN. Table comfort is still not. I love to bring my children when not crazy crowded so they can also enjoy one of the best ramen restaurants in the world. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but I haven't found better yet. Summer soupless ramen with perfectly chewy noodles and slightly spicy sauce is a great addition. The vegan ban ban kinoko as well as its chicken version are great also during summer. The maguro is delicious but I don't find it as satisfying as the noodles. Mind spiciness level for the younglings. In the winter, the spicy tantan or Tokyo ramen always hit the spot. Fish bun has been improved slightly over the years but thank ramen-sama, it is always as messy to eat as the first time I tried it 7 years ago. Desserts are surprisingly delicious. Typically Japanese ramen restaurants lack in that domain but not here. The Tokyo banana is perfectly crafted: creamy crunchy tasty. The shaved ice are great and super fun to eat. We started with the pork belly appetizer which was recommended and stated on the menu indicating it's their featured dish. It was the biggest disappointment as it was extremely fatty with large chunks of fat, while the lean portions were dry. It didn't look very appetizing. The dumplings were just okay--they had decent flavor but I was hoping for a crispier texture. I ordered the Zebra Ramen. The noodles were cooked perfectly al dente, but the broth was much saltier than I would have preferred. The pat of butter felt unnecessary and made the broth overly rich without adding much depth. The chashu was on the small side and also quite fatty and I assume it's the same as the appetizer but was sliced instead of in large chunks. The marinated egg had good flavor, although the yolk was a little more cooked than I typically like. Another thing is the pork belly appetizer came with an egg. I wish the server would tell us so we didn't have to add it to our ramen with an extra charge. The nori was also completely soggy by the time it reached our table. Overall, the noodles were the only highlight of the meal and the rest were very underwhelming. It's definitely not a place I would recommend.

This spot delivers the kind of authentic paitan that reminds you why people used to line up on cold sidewalks just for a bowl. I ordered the Paitan Ramen Deluxe, and it genuinely lives up to the name. The broth is silky, rich, and comforting without being overly salty which is exactly what a proper paitan should be. The bowl comes loaded: tender shredded chicken, seared chashu, marinated soft-boiled eggs, fresh scallions, bamboo shoots, and a sheet of nori that ties everything together. Every topping tastes intentional, not just filler. The texture balance is what really stands out fatty chashu that melts, shredded chicken with real flavor, and noodles that hold up beautifully in the broth. You can taste the care in the soup base; it has depth, not just heat or salt. If you loved Totto Ramen back in the day, this feels like its modern successor same spirit, new precision.
