TLDR: a great experience with a very expansive list of steaks, seafood, pastas and appetizers. Based on the food we tried, and the drinks we ordered, it would be VERY difficult to go wrong with anything you order. Service is top notch and the restaurant could get pretty loud but would still make for a good date spot. MUST GET: Lamb chops and pistachio martini Appetizers were extremely flavorful and light. All the meats were seasoned and cooked perfectly. My favorite was the lamb chops as it was not too fatty and they let the meat shine without trying to douse it with sauce. All their sides (not pictured) were pretty good and came in small portions. I think the highlight of the night was their pistachio martini. Went here for a birthday celebration. Had a really great experience. It's the kind of place I could see myself going to once or twice a month (more if I could afford it) for a nicer but not "occasion" dinner. Service was terrific and welcoming. I appreciate valet parking. Great bar. Really large menu for a "steak house," oddly large. Then it dawned on me, this is a nice restaurant that serves steak. And oysters. And fried zucchini sticks!?!? And oysters?! Once I saw as many people ordering veal or chicken parm as they were steak I realized this was going to be a good/very good meal, but not the steak house feel, special occasion place I was imagining. We did a last minute reservation for Mother's Day and the service was great. Valet parking is available. Servers were attentive. The food was a perfect temperature when it arrived. Inside it's dark. This was our mistake not knowing the restaurant is two floors WITHOUT an elevator. It was very difficult to get my mother up the stairs. Appetizers hands down always are the star of the show. The burrata with fig and prosciutto with the glaze, finger licking good. I love me seafood and the shrimp were great. I ordered the special which was a chimichurri skirt steak and it tasted like Bbq sauce which was interesting not exactly the flavor you expect to consume. I have dined at this restaurant many times before, but tonight was one of the most disappointing experiences I've had here. I ordered the Scallops Scampi special, and it did not meet expectations. The scallops were overcooked, the linguine was mushy, and the dish overall lacked flavor. In addition, the food was served cold. Given the price, I expected a significantly higher level of quality. The service also fell short, and after the food was served, there was little to no follow-up from the staff. Our waiter was MIA It was difficult to get attention for drink refills or basic requests, and the overall level of attentiveness was lacking. Overall, the meal did not reflect the cost, and the service was not up to standard. The combination of food quality and service issues made for a very disappointing visit. Went on a weekend for a friend's birthday and truly was ready to eat some good food. To start they only have valet parking. Upon walking in the front the host stand is in a very weird spot, and the space is a lot smaller than anticipated. The space was filled with people at the bar, dimly lit and seemed to be good energy all around. FYI no hats allowed. Okay to the dining experience. We sat for our resy 7:30 at around 7:45 (nothing major at all) but our server (who did greet us as soon as we sat down) didn't take our order until around 8:30. After waiting a very long time, we finally got our order in and our server who must of been in the weeds took very good care of us. The drinks were very forgettable. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. I don't know who they had behind the bar but drinks were not their specialty unfortunately. We ordered plenty of appetizers for the table -fritto was mid and didn't taste fresh -rice balls were absolutely delicious I RECOMMEND -octopus was okay was missing a few components and ate dry -crudo was tasty the peppers took it to the next level -spicy shrimp was chewy and not good at all For main I got the cowboy rib chop steak with a blue cheese sauce that I did enjoy, only negative was that I ordered my steak med rare and it came out medwell-well done. For sides we got the Brussels, Mac n cheese, long hot peppers, mash potatoes and all were just okay. Called for a reservation a week before and was told they only had a high top in bar area. No worries at all. Arrived and was seated within 5 minutes. There was a high top available on other side of bar in main dining area so I asked if we could sit there and was told no that it was reserved. Ok. Our server who took quite some time to come over was also one of the bar tenders. He took our drink order and left. It took at least 20 minutes to get our drinks. They were packed so we get the wait time but maybe bring in a few extra servers to accommodate the packed house. For appetizers we had the mussels which had good flavor but was absolutely cold. Why? We also shared a salad which was average at best with a handful of greens and 2 fried goat cheese balls. For dinner Sandra had filet mignon that lacked any kind of flavor at all. It was tender but flavorless. I had the cowboy steak that was cooked perfectly to black and blue the way I like it but the seasoning was absolutely overpowering. It was so salty that it actually burned my mouth. Absolutely terrible. Took 2 bites and sent it back. Waiter was no where to be found so I actually had to go to bar and ask for him. He didn't come as another woman came and took it away. At $72.00 it really should be a bigger and better cut of meat and throw the seasoning in the garbage. Come on. We also shared brussel sprouts that were actually good. Our server was definitely a pleasant person but unfortunately he was so overwhelmed with the bar and servicing the tables he couldn't keep up so we just had to be patient. Everything took forever. We didn't get another drink because by the time he came back over we were done. Bus person came over and cleared the table and at that time we asked him to tell server we wanted the check. 25 minutes later I had to go to the bar to get the check. Come on. We also ordered a bunch of sides including cream of spinach, brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes and, mac and cheese. This place should actually be called "well done". And not in a good way. I ordered a medium rare filet mignon. It looked delicious and dark pink when it came out. Problem is, one bite tasted like a well done hockey puck. It had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp for who knows how long. It was chewy, dry, and I just couldn't finish it. To be served that, at an exorbitant price, was wildly disappointing. This was my second time at Rare Steakhouse, and honestly, I can't even explain how amazing the food was. It's just that good. Even the little things blew me away. Right from the start, they served this warm, flavorful pretzel bread with a sauce and cucumbers on the side. I don't know what they did to it, but it was so delicious we devoured it in seconds. This is the perfect "don't judge a book by its cover" restaurant. The grey and black exterior doesn't match the beautiful interior. This is a very intimate setting perfect for a date night or catch-up with friends. The server was phenomenal all evening, and very informative as he brought out the meat sampler, displaying all of their prime choices. He was spot on when he said the 10 Oz Filet Mignon was their most tender cut, as it cut so smoothly with my knife. The sear gave way to a juicy and delicious interior, and the 10oz was a pretty nice portion. The baked macaroni and cheese was a hearty helping and tasted great as well. My spicy passionfruit margarita was made with Casamigos, and while not having a kick, was tasty with the pomegranate flavors. The drinks were refreshing and it is pricy but hey it's high end dining which it was worth the price. The biggest issue and why I'm giving 3 stars is because I placed a separate order to go and my truffle fries were forgotten, it happens i understand right? I called about my issue and a lady by Anastasia gave me the rudest and nastiest responses about my order and a reservation I know was incorrect. She wouldn't listen to me and continued to argue with me about my side order being in another bag which it was not at all. We found our new steakhouse! My husband is very particular when it comes to his steak, so he prefers to make it himself because he's been disappointed a couple of times. I made a reservation at Rare for his 45th birthday, last night. We were immediately warmly welcomed by the host and the front of the house manager, with no wait to be seated. James, who took care of us for the evening, was so attentive and didn't miss a beat. Actually, all of the staff took care of us. I can't tell the last time I had so many table touches, it felt really good. The food was delicious and portions are more than generous, I'm eating my leftovers while I write this review. My husband had the 48 oz porterhouse, my son had the 20 oz T-bone and I had the scallop scampi. The drinks were flavorful, I had the cucumber cooler and my husband had an old fashioned and Manhattan. I hate to say it, but completely underwhelmed at Rare the Steak House. Came here for Father's Day based on recommendations, but should have checked Yelp reviews prior. This review is mainly based on service, which was really slow. We ended up skipping dessert since it was so late by the time a waiter came by to see us again. Maybe it was a bad night or they were short staffed, but was definitely confused since by the time we were leaving, there wasn't that many patrons left, almost felt like we were forgotten in the upstairs dining area. The food: the temperatures on the cowboy and filet mignon my wife and I ordered were both off felt like they mixed up the orders (she asked for medium and received rare to medium rare and I received medium as opposed to rare to medium rare which I ordered.) The sides we ordered were very blah, I've had much better sizzling bacon, asparagus Au gratin was over cooked, Brussels sprouts with bacon were a bit soggy like they were boiled, and the creamed spinach had a slight bitter taste to it. Honestly, it wasn't the worst steakhouse I've ever been to, but just had my hopes up much higher. read more

We started out great appetizers were so delicious I had a Caesar salad and he had clams, we also shared an appetizer size portion of the spaghetti which was very good. Our experience here was a mixed. The flavors were good, but the meat wasn't as tender as we expected for the price. The tuna tartar had a nice taste, but it came out brown, which was disappointing and made it seem like it had been pre-made rather than freshly prepared. For the price, we expected it to look and taste freshly made. The sides--broccoli rabe and truffle fries--were solid and added nice variety to the meal. However, service could have been better. At one point, while we were still actively eating, the waiter came by to ask if we were done. When we said yes to everything but the fries, he started clearing the table immediately, even while we were still actively picking up the fries with our forks and putting them in our mouths. I ended up awkwardly handing him my fork, which was uncomfortable, felt rushed and there were still fries left that we were going to eat that he took. The place was pretty empty for almost 7pm on a Saturday, so not exactly sure why this happened. Dessert was delicious! We ate the chocolate chip skillet. We ordered 2 espressos to go with it, and they tasted burnt and watered down. There was also an issue with our bill. We were charged for three drinks, with two of the same drink listed at $30 each, plus another $30 for what seemed to be the same drink again. One other thing , they really need to change their diced potatoes side dish . Though I didn't dare try it on tonite's visit . They look great , but are hard and tasteless . Had a fantastic meal at Rare. It was the first time we had ever dined there. Our server Sean was delightful and knowledgeable. They start you off with some bread. We had the Tuna Tartare as an appetizer. It was very good and I loved the presentation. We shared the steak and pork chop. Enjoyed a couple glasses of wine and finished it off with dessert and a delicious Espresso Martini!! The steak and pork chop were both cooked to perfection. The steak was juicy and flavorful. We had the opportunity to meet the owner, Greg who was very gracious and friendly. It was surprisingly busy for a Monday night. Parking is next to the restaurant and it's valet service. Seated on the second floor were there was a group of loud people screaming and cursing. Spoke to the manager several times asking if we can change our table to the first floor and even though there was multiple free tables they refused to move us. I even explained that I had recent knee surgery and the stairs were difficult. That did not matter to them. Food is good but customer service is terrible. The main course which was the porterhouse steak came on a wooden chopping board which is rare since every restaurant we have had it it comes on a hot plate or cast iron. Never the less the steak was below par. The manager came over to ask how everything was and we gave our honest opinion. He states he can't compare this to any other restaurant because he doesn't know and hasn't been. Anyone managing a restaurant knows the competition and knows what is around. He seemed bothered by our honest feedback on the food. Don't ask for feedback if you are not open to the honest truth. Waiter didn't have any concept of time, some of the food was cold and others hot. Manager didn't walk over after waiter told us he told the manager that food was taking long. Very hard to find any faults with last night's meal. We went as a group of a dozen. We had a drink at the bar first as our party trickled in. It was moderately crowded but the bartenders worked well as a team and everybody was accommodated seamlessly. Our table was ready immediately when our full party arrived. We settled up our bartender and were led to the upstairs room. They do a nice job upstairs of maintaining the feel and décor of the restaurant while also offering more space. The servers were friendly and on point. A slight delay between a round of drinks and ordering, but it may have just been me hangry and impatient... Our appetizer of tuna tartare was amazing. Served with crispy wonton squares as well as soy, wasabi dipping sauce and some pickled ginger. It was flavorful and refreshing, setting the tone for the meal to follow. Other diners raved about the clams oreganata the buratta, the frito misto, oysters etc. The eggplant parm was a little heavy on the cheese and quite decadent. It had been quite a time since my last visit, and while I wasn't so onboard with the tomahawk ribeye, the porterhouse for 2 was cooked to perfection. Tender and delicious, it (as it should have been) was the highlight of my meal. My only mistake in ordering, is that I may have skipped a side had I known that it was coming with a crown of broccoli and a squash-like item as well. Everyone raved about the steaks in general, and everything was cooked to the proper temp. Sirloins, filet, cowboy ribeye and shell steaks. Those who weren't feeling steaks were delighted by perfectly prepared halibut and salmon. There were far too many sides for me to try everything ordered, but the table was delighted. The onion rings were crisp. Mushrooms and onions were a little too heavily leaned towards onions. People raved about the whipped potatoes. Other highlights included the brussels and cured bacon. Only dessert ordered was a couple of rounds of strawberries and whipped cream with what was supposed to be a grand marnier marinade. There may have been a hint of grand marnier in a drizzle over top, but otherwise it disappeared in the mix. Two desserts were nearly polished off, so it was also well received. Fyi, the 1 star is because they had valet. All staff members are pissed off and uptight. The waiters are just doing there job but the way they approach you about not leaving a good tip is incredible. The muscleman owner is a complete AHole, he came after me while at valet because I told his waiter, his attitude and approach about the tip was unprofessional. I also told the owner pull up your cameras and FOH. The bill says PLEASE PAY THIS AMOUNT. I DID and they weren't happy with 26$ tip. All establishments have a percentage for gratuity & If it's not on the receipt and the service was basic, you will receive what I feel is right. To start off the ribeye I ordered was supposed to be cooked rare/med rare and came out medium to med well..you are a steakhouse! They should at least get the temp right! The meat was bland with no seasoning..had to salt it myself. I could have bought a 20$ steak and cooked it at home on the frying pan that would have had more flavor :( My husband ordered the filet.. what a disappointment also.. truly the filet we had at Texas Roadhouse a month ago was so much more tender and seasoned.. this was just sad.. We chose Brussel sprouts with bacon for a side and they were dry and almost inedible and so was our baked potato.. the sangria was tasteless and made with a red sour tasting wine.. they offered dessert menu and we declined as the food was so bad..especially for the price! (almost $400 for 4 of us!) one of our waiters had asked about the food and we told him, but he argued and did nothing to correct it. When we gave the tip we thought it was fair for the experience and one of the waiter's complained about the tip to us.. (super unprofessional) and said if we had issues we should have told him not the other waiter who actually helped us 75% of the time. Friends of mine were having dinner here and I wanted to send them a bottle of wine by purchasing a gift card over the phone. The gentleman who picked up put me on hold for a few minutes.
