We basically ordered all of the appetizers

Went on a weekend for a friend's birthday and truly was ready to eat some good food. To start they only have valet parking. Upon walking in the front the host stand is in a very weird spot, and the space is a lot smaller than anticipated. The space was filled with people at the bar, dimly lit and seemed to be good energy all around. FYI no hats allowed. Okay to the dining experience. We sat for our resy 7:30 at around 7:45 (nothing major at all) but our server (who did greet us as soon as we sat down) didn't take our order until around 8:30. After waiting a very long time, we finally got our order in and our server who must of been in the weeds took very good care of us. The drinks were very forgettable. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. I don't know who they had behind the bar but drinks were not their specialty unfortunately. We ordered plenty of appetizers for the table -fritto was mid and didn't taste fresh -rice balls were absolutely delicious I RECOMMEND -octopus was okay was missing a few components and ate dry -crudo was tasty the peppers took it to the next level -spicy shrimp was chewy and not good at all For main I got the cowboy rib chop steak with a blue cheese sauce that I did enjoy, only negative was that I ordered my steak med rare and it came out medwell-well done. For sides we got the Brussels, Mac n cheese, long hot peppers, mash potatoes and all were just okay. Dessert we tried the tiramisu (pretty good), skillet cookie (meh), raspberry cobbler (amazing), cheesecake (meh) Overall this spot was very mid and the quality was just not up to par.

Called for a reservation a week before and was told they only had a high top in bar area. No worries at all. Arrived and was seated within 5 minutes. There was a high top available on other side of bar in main dining area so I asked if we could sit there and was told no that it was reserved. Ok. Our server who took quite some time to come over was also one of the bar tenders. He took our drink order and left. It took at least 20 minutes to get our drinks. They were packed so we get the wait time but maybe bring in a few extra servers to accommodate the packed house. For appetizers we had the mussels which had good flavor but was absolutely cold. Why? We also shared a salad which was average at best with a handful of greens and 2 fried goat cheese balls. For dinner Sandra had filet mignon that lacked any kind of flavor at all. It was tender but flavorless. I had the cowboy steak that was cooked perfectly to black and blue the way I like it but the seasoning was absolutely overpowering. It was so salty that it actually burned my mouth. Absolutely terrible. Took 2 bites and sent it back. Waiter was no where to be found so I actually had to go to bar and ask for him. He didn't come as another woman came and took it away. At $72.00 it really should be a bigger and better cut of meat and throw the seasoning in the garbage. Come on. We also shared brussel sprouts that were actually good. Our server was definitely a pleasant person but unfortunately he was so overwhelmed with the bar and servicing the tables he couldn't keep up so we just had to be patient. Everything took forever. We didn't get another drink because by the time he came back over we were done. Bus person came over and cleared the table and at that time we asked him to tell server we wanted the check. 25 minutes later I had to go to the bar to get the check. Come on. Again I understand it's a giant day for people to eat out so why not bring in extra help. This is all on management. The prices and quality just don't add up to me. It's definitely a one and done for us.

Rare Steak House has to be one of Northern New Jersey. best steakhouse. Every time that I visit this establishment, I become more and more a fan. The waiters are very attentive, accommodating, and answer any an all of your questions pertaining to the menu. The ambience is that of a fine steakhouse establishment and they are plenty of people, both enjoying themselves and their meals. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, not only for a date night, but also for a family outing. I hope you make it your business to make a reservation and enjoy this fine establishment just as I did. Enjoy!

I have been to Rare multiple times for dinner events and they have never disappointed. Food, Service, Drinks, Atmosphere and taste are superior! I strongly suggest coming if you're looking for an above average prime steak or homemade Italian favorites.

Rare is one of those restaurants where anything you order is executed at the highest level. Even the complementary basket of bread is great!

Food here is always amazing, for starters we ordered the caesar salad and creamy burrata with fresh roasted peppers. The salad was light and fresh yet flavorful. The creamy burrata with the roasted pepper paired very well together and we had that with the bread. For the mains, we ordered the tomahawk steak and ribeye and it was very tender and juicy. We also ordered a bunch of sides including cream of spinach, brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes and, mac and cheese. All the sides were really good but my favorites were the brussel sprouts and mac and cheese. Their seafood is delicious as well, i tried the sole fish with veggies and it was excellent. Service is great! This place is good for special occasions, there is valet parking available. Would definitely keep coming here!

The food was amazing, I tried hold back a little to save room for dessert but in the end I over done it just a little bit. The service was great, not too overbearing just right where as you were able to enjoy the meal and atmosphere.

This is the perfect "don't judge a book by its cover" restaurant. The grey and black exterior doesn't match the beautiful interior. This is a very intimate setting perfect for a date night or catch-up with friends. The server was phenomenal all evening, and very informative as he brought out the meat sampler, displaying all of their prime choices. He was spot on when he said the 10 Oz Filet Mignon was their most tender cut, as it cut so smoothly with my knife. The sear gave way to a juicy and delicious interior, and the 10oz was a pretty nice portion. The baked macaroni and cheese was a hearty helping and tasted great as well. My spicy passionfruit margarita was made with Casamigos, and while not having a kick, was tasty with the pomegranate flavors. I look forward to bringing my girlfriend here for a date night soon.

The food was very good, my server was very nice and respectful, he knew the menu very well and could describe it amazingly. The restaurant is a tad smaller however it's a nice family ambiance. The drinks were refreshing and it is pricy but hey it's high end dining which it was worth the price. The biggest issue and why I'm giving 3 stars is because I placed a separate order to go and my truffle fries were forgotten, it happens i understand right? I called about my issue and a lady by Anastasia gave me the rudest and nastiest responses about my order and a reservation I know was incorrect. She wouldn't listen to me and continued to argue with me about my side order being in another bag which it was not at all. Anastasia left a terrible ending experience and I would not go back if I have to deal with her attitude at all.

We found our new steakhouse! My husband is very particular when it comes to his steak, so he prefers to make it himself because he's been disappointed a couple of times. I made a reservation at Rare for his 45th birthday, last night. We were immediately warmly welcomed by the host and the front of the house manager, with no wait to be seated. James, who took care of us for the evening, was so attentive and didn't miss a beat. Actually, all of the staff took care of us. I can't tell the last time I had so many table touches, it felt really good. The food was delicious and portions are more than generous, I'm eating my leftovers while I write this review. My husband had the 48 oz porterhouse, my son had the 20 oz T-bone and I had the scallop scampi. The drinks were flavorful, I had the cucumber cooler and my husband had an old fashioned and Manhattan. To end the evening, James brought out the banana chocolate chip ice cream to celebrate the hubby, it was so good. We will definitely be back.

I drive past this restaurant all the time going through my neighborhood so I decided to give it a shot for dinner with my fiancé. We started out great appetizers were so delicious I had a Caesar salad and he had clams, we also shared an appetizer size portion of the spaghetti which was very good. Dinner was a little disappointing I got the oven roasted chicken which was super dry I wish it had some sauce with it, he had the opposite problem churrasco was marinated in some kind of soy glaze and he did not care for the taste. The truffle fries were very good, I did not care for my mac & cheese it taste it out of the box. Our drinks were good and our servers were very attentive.

And, considering the quality, the value is pretty decent as well. A few recommendations. Prime rib, available only on Monday is outstanding. NY Strips and Rib Eye, are always a solid choice. The Steak Sandwich is absolutely incredible, trust me. Plus, their Pork Chop is amazing when its available. My only negative is that the dress code has become lax over time. I'm not a fancy guy. But for the first several years there was an upscale vibe and guests dressed appropriately which made the experience feel premium. Now it isn't all that uncommon to see guests wearing worn out tee shirts, sweat shirts, flip flops, cutoffs, etc. Nothing crazy, but a collard shirt and no flip flop code would be a fair. With all that said, I love this place and I think you will as well. Give it a try.

A lifetime of anticipation ended in a disappointing reality…read more Ever since I lived in Brazil, I had been dreaming of dining at Fogo de Chão. I kept teasing my non-Brazilian husband that we had to go together for the "ultimate rodízio experience of a lifetime." We finally went last night (5/17), and unfortunately, my high expectations burst like a soap bubble. As frequent diners who love going out to high-end restaurants like Blue, our standards might be high, but Fogo de Chão simply did not deliver for the price. The food was just okay. Many meat cuts were tasteless, tough, and sliced way too thick, which honestly ruined the appetite and made us stop after just a few varieties. The ambiance is beautiful and the service was decent. However, the bill for two surpassed $230 for just the rodízio, one caipirinha, one lemonade, and a dessert. Speaking of dessert, we ordered the crème brûlée to finish the night, and it was a total letdown--completely cold and tasted overwhelmingly like sweet egg yolks (like a heavy eggnog) instead of a rich vanilla cream. Overpriced for an "okay" experience. Sadly, it did not live up to the hype.

We started with drinks, several of us ordered the caipirinhas, and they were delicious. The salad bar offered a wide variety of options, though I do wish there had been more fruit selections. Service throughout the evening was excellent. Our party went with the unlimited churrasco experience, which was fun and interactive. You are given a coaster with red and green sides to signal when you want more or when to pause. The meat selection was impressive, with a steady flow of picanha (prime sirloin), filet mignon, ribeye, garlic steak, chicken, pork, lamb chops, and sausage, all well-seasoned and flavorful. My personal favorite was the pork belly, especially with the honey drizzle, such a perfect combination. My least favorite was probably the chicken, I thought it was a little bland and needed more seasoning. I do wish shrimp had been included in the churrasco rotation, but it is available to order separately. Our main server, Mary, along with the rest of the staff, was incredibly friendly, attentive, and efficient. To end the night, we tried several desserts: key lime pie, tres leches, brulee cheesecake, and molten lava cake, every single one was a hit. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and I would definitely come back again.

I wasn't super hungry so we shared the crispy cauliflower and lamb ribs from the appetizer menu. The crispy cauliflower was excellent -- hot, actually crispy, and not drowning in sauce which I really appreciated. The lamb ribs came over labneh (a yogurt base) and the first plate arrived with the lamb cold. I asked our waitress if that was intentional and she said only the labneh should be cold. They immediately replaced it with a fresh order and handled it really well, which I appreciated. Great service recovery and overall a really enjoyable brunch spot with a lively atmosphere.
