It is awesome. Anytime they do their buffet it is probably the best I ever had. I do their Mother's Day and Thanksgiving buffets every year. It is worth every penny!

I don't really see any decent photos of brunch at this restaurant, but I've heard there is some good breakfast items. Can anyone confirm? Also, how would you compare breakfast here to Murphy's breakfast in midtown?

Murphy's is very good and the food at Ray's is comparable. Ray's has Stone Crab claws, cold Shrimp and sometimes Oysters. There is usually a Benedict, Baked Salmon, Gumbo, Stuffed Mushrooms and a plethora of entrees and salad items.…

The irony is that the large group size wasn't even an issue; we staggered our arrivals and the patio was completely empty. The kicker- my brother in law ended up paying the whole tab at the end anyways! so all of that initial laziness & nastiness for NOTHING! Throughout the night, the service felt incredibly rushed and stressed. While we were still eating our appetizers, the busser was aggressively trying to clear our plates because the mains were coming. Our server was very short with us the entire time, which was confusing because the restaurant didn't even have a stressful vibe. She recommended a main dish to me that I really didn't care for, though I will say the salsa was unique and probably the best part of the meal. Shoutout to the one staff member who was actually friendly, but overall, this is not the kind of place where you leave feeling like you had a nice restaurant experience- at least I personally didn't.. Too bad we didn't just go to C&S next door which we always love. It wasn't like that when I left. The line of cars waiting for valet was backed up a few. Sitting at the bar, it was excellent service. The drinks were straight and neat and went well with dinner. See pics. Grabbed the Lobster Bisque, the Prime Ribeye, Grilled Asparagus, Aged Balsamic and had to have dessert - Peach Crumble with Vanilla Ice Cream. Steak prepared as requested - RARE. I would have liked the Asparagus to be grilled just a little more and I should have grabbed me a dessert wine to go with dessert but that was on me. Was there during the week and it was hopping. I ordered a simple Bombay martini and one of the specialty cocktails for my wife. The bartender made my martini in a shaker and I remember hearing him asking someone else to stir it for him. For the next ten minutes or more, the bartender proceeded to make drinks for the waiters, I remember him spilling out two drinks and remaking them while my martini continued diluting in the melting Ice. Ten minutes or more later, he pours my martini into more of a champagne coup glass than a martini glass, and I waited another five minutes or more for my wife to get her drink. When I tasted the upmartini, It tasted so diluted, just bad, almost commical to me. I just laughed to myself because i've tended bar for a living and that was about the worst martini i've ever had in my life. Either Rumi is watering down his booze or the ice melted so much that there was barely a gin taste in the glass. I think their gig is rather than give you a real martini level pour they dilute you with so much melted Ice that you think you're getting a full pour martini, when, in fact, what you're getting is half gin and half melted ice. And believe ME, you are charged as though it was a real martini. The place was pretty busy, so a lot of people must not have a clue... or just like busy places. If everybody says, this is such a great place, I guess it's gotta be. Unfortunately, that's just Atlanta-if it's popular everyone just assumes it's good or pretends it is. I don't do well with pretend. Next after being seated at the table, i tried to order wine least expensive wines (so overpriced)-they were out of all of the lower-end overpriced wines I tried to order. It just bugs me to overpay so much for bottles of table wine. They're barely twenty dollars charging, 60-80 for them. You come in and it's a large shop but it's not a lot. Most of the space there is going to be seating. You can look around and they have a little market area but the market area is very small. They do have particular specific items so you can check that out while you wait for your food. You can see the menus on the board and everybody there is super friendly and they'll explain anything to you. We had a pretty good short conversation while I waited. Love the customer service . Hummus - I tried the hummus and it was okay. Nothing crazy about it and it was just regular and not like it was roasted red pepper or garlic or anything like that but it was decent . Chicken shawarma wrap - the wrap was pretty good. It wasn't great but it was pretty good. It had a lot of color to it, meaning they were seasoning it for sure, but the flavor was only okay. The flavor was not popping out of your mouth but it was a decent but subtle flavor. It was super tender! Chicken kabob - the kebab plate came with two skewers and rice with a salad and it came with some garlic sauce as well. I think that the kebab was better than the shawarma to me. It had the same char flavor but mixed with the rice and the garlic sauce, it took it up another notch as well. You got a lot of it though so it wasn't like you only got two pieces of meat per skewer and a small handful of rice. You got a bed of rice so it was really good. The salad was low quality but I really didn't care about that because I didn't come for salad lol. Overall you paid maybe like $12 or $14 for this. It wasn't bad for a full plate . All in all it was a pretty decent experience. They're very customer-oriented and customer-friendly so you go in there, you will be fine. They'll take care of you

My experience at Rays on the River was like the honeymoon gone bad. My aunt and I took my wife and a family friend to Rays for brunch to celebrate their 50th birthday on Sunday, July 13th. Our waiter, who's name was Mike, was funny, pleasant, and very entertaining. He gave excellent service. While eating our appetizers and enjoying the atmosphere, another group sat next to us. My aunt notices that one of the members of the other group was her friend, Elder Debra Brown Morton. They in had not seen each other in years and begin to reminisce and catching up. Our two groups greeted each other and engaged ourselves in conversations. As we sat back down at the table, one of the bus boys, who has been identified as Jeremy walked past our table. I politely tried to stop Jeremy as he was walking past the table and asked if he would take a group picture for us. Jeremy looked at our group, without stopping and said "No, I ain't got time to do what I don't get paid for" and he kept walking. This stunned both tables because we felt we would not be treated in such a manner at a place like Rays. Especially, after paying nearly $900 at this restaurant for brunch. Less than a minute after Jeremy rudely refused to take our picture, a young lady walked by, and we asked her would she take the picture. This young lady, who name is Sarah, politely said "sure I will take your picture!". We were happy to see how pleasant she was and then we explained to her the experience we had just had with Jeremy. Sarah, who tuned out to be the Service Manager told us that she would speak to Jeremy, and we thanked her because that we are not the service anyone would expect to receive at Ray's on the River. Well, I guess whatever Sarah said to Jeremy, did not sit well with him. Less than 10 minutes later, Jeremy came back by our table and said with malice in voice "I hope ya'll nig*s enjoyed your pictures". Again, at this point, we are in total disbelief that it had to register in everyone's mind that this man, who is an employee of the restaurant walked back by our table and said this. The entire table got up and begin scrambling for management. I asked one of the greeters for someone in management, and she pointed me to a lady sitting down, who was later identified as Faith from the corporate office. I walked over to Faith at the table where she was doing some paperwork to explain to her what had just happened, and Faith threaten to call the police on me and my group and said, "she will not let anyone accuse her children of such a thing!" Instead of listening and treating us as customers, who had just spent over $900 at Ray's on the River, Faith immediately felt threaten by this group of black customers. As we stood outside waiting on the police so we can get a report, Sarah came outside to speak to our group. We all saw the look of disbelief on Sarah face that Jeremy came BACK to our table after she had spoken to him. Sarah gave us her card and the card of the Assistant General Manager, Mike Casey and promised to address the situation. I have sent an email to both Sarah and Mike to see if we get a response and resolution before escalating the situation. read more

I was really excited to celebrate my birthday dinner here. When I asked to sit next to an open table near the window the hostess replied verbatim, "Not today and rolled her eyes at me." My boyfriend was so upset with how she treated me that he asked to speak to the manager and she was more than RUDE and came over with her nose stuck up in the air and said "I heard you have a problem with the dress code. Sorry but my hostess makes notes and if she said you can't sit in the dining area than I can't do anything about it." And then shrugged her shoulders at me!! I was wearing a summer dress and they complained my shoulders were too revealing??? I'm sorry but where does it say in your dress code you can't have revealing shoulders? So guess what that means, you are RACIST!!!! How do you degrade people like this? Not to mention I've seen recent tags of girls with VERY REVEALING attire with spaghetti straps on. I think the whole management is RACIST and unprofessional and they need to be FIRED!!! DO NOT GO HERE!! We had to leave because the entire staff was treating us like we were garbage! We visited Ray's on the River for a business dinner and had a great experience overall. The location by the Chattahoochee River adds a nice touch, though being there at night meant we didn't get to enjoy the view as much as we'd like--definitely a reason to return during the day! The meal started with drinks: a few Old Fashioneds and martinis, which were well-made and enjoyable. Our waitstaff were friendly and quick once we got settled, though there was a short wait after we first sat down. From there, everything flowed smoothly. The bread basket was a pleasant surprise, offering a variety of breads and cracker-like options, and the butter was a standout--simple, but delicious. We shared the Brussels sprouts appetizer, which was a hit, and many of us ordered fish or steak plates. Everything was well-prepared and met expectations, with no complaints from our group. The parking lot is on the smaller side, but we didn't have any issues finding a spot. All in all, a satisfying dining experience in a great setting. Nestled by the Chattahoochee, the setting was just beautiful--perfect weather, scenic views, and delicious food, which truly set the stage for a memorable meal. Even though it was a Sunday, the crowd was light, with a few busy spurts during our three-hour meal. The atmosphere was intimate, which was a plus, though a touch of background music could have enhanced the ambiance. Our server was amazing--friendly, attentive, and honest, offering spot-on recommendations that made the meal even better. I started with a peach margarita, which kicked off the culinary journey in the best way. I followed it up with the Smoked Brisket Hash topped with an egg. The brisket was tender, perfectly seasoned, and the hash was fresh with generous portions of meat. The coarse grits were thick, yet creamy and delicious--comfort food done right! My husband James planned a wonderful evening with 8:00 p.m. reservation for the two of us on our 1st anniversary Sunday, September 24, 2017. We had the pleasure of having a fantastic waiter. Ryon was his name. Ryon helped us with our menu choices and wine selection. We even had a little room for dessert. Ryon also shared the history of Ray's on the River. He even shared that we could walked out to get a better view after we asked about outside perimeter of the area. This was our very 1st time visiting Ray's on the River. Our experience was beautiful and we had a romantic 1st anniversary evening. Our seating was awesome facing the river. What I like about Rays is the Saturday night jazz music. Nothing like sipping cocktails and listening to good music . I also like brunch at Rays they have fabulous food choices from oyster bar, breakfast foods, prime rib that is cut right in front of you and great bloody marys. Brunch can be overwhelming so bring an appetite. Brunch at Rays is also a good value compared to their dinner Manu, the portions are small and the prices are high but, if you like oyster Rockefeller they have the best in town. sublime Perno, creamy, spinach and bacon melted on top of quality oysters. Their seafood appetizers is also very good also.. I like steak but for the, quality and size per ounce not worth it here. Paying top price for meat that's not USDA prime. My wife had the halibut and it was nicely cooked, fresh and delicious. I definitely recommend Rays for brunch , jazz and appetizers but feel you can get better value at other restaurants . read more

The location is excellent! Love the river view, especially when you sit outside. Food is a hit or miss. I have been here many times and even hosted a party in the event pavilion. I was there on 10/6/18 and set outside. The chairs outside are not comfortable for long term seating. Wish they would put a pillow to sit on. The service was OK... extremely slow. Took them over 15 min to bring drinks. (And no they weren't super busy) The almond crusted trout with butternut squash was DElish and fresh. Definitely recommend to try. Scallops were good but the lobsterRisotto was cold. Guess they had made it early and didn't serve it in time. Crème brûlée was a delight. Probably my favorite. We were sitting outside closer to the event pavilion. While we were waiting for food - we started to smell marijuana and smell of cigarettes. Guess someone was smoking during the break and the wind blew the smoke toward the river. Lol read more

I'm not downing Ray's and I have always enjoyed every occasion that I've to share with family and friends that have come to visit; they are always super impressed. Since I am the constant in the equation, I have noticed that the Sunday Brunch has changed a little. The size of the shrimp has gone from large to small and medium small, the gumbo has gotten very salty, the grits have gone from creamy to watery and the waffles have gotten a little flimsy. The spirit of the spirit of the meal has suffered, it seems, in a quest to capitalize on a good thing, The fixtures such as the omelets that are made to order are always fantastic, the salad bar is amazing and the rest of the seafood is always a hit. And not to short-change the dessert bar, it is always beyond phenomenal! If you could just bring back the real shrimp and take the time to prepare real grits and slow cook the gumbo I would definitely upgrade this review. read more

I recently wrote about not-so-great experience at Ray's on the River. After that review and some calls between the restaurant and my wife, we received a gift certificate and accepted the manager's invitation to try again. We chose to celebrate our third anniversary at Ray's. It was well worth it. The table was great. We were next to the window and watched night fall on the Chattahoochee River, just outside. The service was extremely attentive. The food was perfect - I had the filet mignon and scallops. All was cooked to perfection. I had a gift to present to my wife with desert and the wait staff was perfect. The management presented us with a great bottle of champagne - a "no hard feelings" gesture that was not just appreciated, but treasured. Thanks to Mike and the rest of the staff. We appreciated the gift certificate and are very glad to have Ray's on the River another try. We will be back.. read more

We booked a table for two through the OpenTable app, specifically choosing an outdoor setting for a date night. Upon arrival, we were seated indoors at a cramped table, which didn't match the ambiance we were hoping for. When we mentioned this to the hostess, she seemed displeased and visibly frustrated. My fiancée politely requested a different table, and while they did accommodate us with a slightly better seating arrangement, the staff's attitude set a negative tone for the evening. We started with the Goat Cheese Pimento Fritters, which were good, but everything else the server recommended fell flat. The Faroe Island Salmon Oscar, served with asparagus, was especially disappointing--the asparagus was so chewy it was almost inedible (I've attached a photo as well). Overall, it was not the pleasant evening we had hoped for, and I would not recommend this restaurant based on our experience. read more

Our server was amazing -- attentive, friendly, and truly on top of everything all night. The view of the river is unbeatable and definitely one of the highlights of the experience. I ordered two appetizers, the crab cakes and the butter bread, and both were excellent. Those were easily the standout dishes for me. Now for the downside. I ordered the wagyu burger medium, but it came out well done. For a restaurant at this level, that was disappointing. The menu also mentioned thin fries, but my plate came with regular fries instead. It may seem minor, but details matter -- especially when you're expecting a fine dining experience. Overall, great service and atmosphere, but the execution on my entrée missed the mark. read more

If you're looking for something different than your typical downtown or Buckhead restaurant, head out to Ray's on the River. The grounds are beautiful, and the food is really good. Maybe not quite as good as you'd expect for the price, but it's definitely above average. There was also a jazz band playing when I was there, and they were great. And I'm picky about musicians because although I haven't quit my day job, I'm quite a musician myself.. :) Anyway, the point is that the ambiance was really cool. I'd give 4 1/2 stars if I could, but I can't quite justify 5 stars based on the price / quality ratio. I think I'm going to develop said ratio and somehow make lots of money from it. read more

I have officially given up on Rays of the River. The experience was disappointing to say the least. The staff appeared to be disorganized and unfriendly, with noticeable tension among them. Our order took an incredibly long time, our appetizers were forgotten, and even after requesting additional chips, they were never brought to us. Despite being a long-time patron, I have noticed a significant decline in the quality of service and food over the years. I attempted to give them the benefit of the doubt multiple times before leaving this review, but each visit only reinforced my dissatisfaction. It's a shame, considering I live in the area. Although the quality of the seafood has fallen off on the Brunch Buffet all of the other assorted options make up for it. This is always my go to when I have out of town guest over. They have never once said that were not impressed. The service is always top-notch. The wait is understandable because people know what they like and what they want. And I love the fact that they have FREE valet service!!! Bring back the larger shrimp and I would come just about every weekend...I'll just need cholesterol medication....LOL. read more

Brunch on Sunday is by far my favorite time for Ray's. But apparently it is everyone else's as well. The selection of both seafood and southern cuisine is always amazing. But since I have been visiting I have noticed that the quality is suffering a little. The shrimp have gotten smaller, the crab has disappeared, and less omelette add-ins. The soups like the gumbo have become a lot more roux and a lot less sausage, seafood, and okra. My guests are always amazed but my wife and I have noticed the change. read more

My husband & I came to Rays to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. John was our waiter. He was outstanding! He recommended items on the menu that we ended up loving! Took my wife here for their "award winning" brunch. Honestly, it wasnt anything out of the ordinary, and I think the price was a little too much for what they offer. Plus, two things soured the deal for me. My wife likes Bellinis. They didn't have nectar, so no Bellinis for her. Second, I called the prior day to ask about the time the brunch ended, and it would have been helpful if someone had asked me, "Would you like to make a reservation?" so we wouldnt have to sit in the lounge the next day. read more

We attempted to order chocolate ice cream with sprinkles and were told that we would have to order an enormous $25 sundae to get the sprinkles - the manager might want to revisit that policy as we left without ordering desert since they wouldn't extend us 10 cents of sprinkles after spending $130. Based on the other food items, I wouldn't be surprised if the desserts were already preassembled prior to arriving at the restaurant, and thus the sprinkles couldn't be moved or added.

Once we noticed that the female servers were crumbing the tables, clearing empty plates, filling water glasses, all without prompting, checked back on food served, and offering hot towels at the end of their party tables, etc. it diminished the mostly tasty meal that we had consumed. I had selected this restaurant for a special anniversary and would not return to any of their locations if this is the norm. Even the maitre'd who delivered the food did not pick up empty plates without prompting or seem to notice how dirty the tablecloth was from the bread crumbs. Fresh oysters from MA were small and tasty Truffle fries were good Cesar salad with house made croutons and extra anchovies made it tastier Branzino was good- veggies were not properly cooked- were tough. Smashed potatoes were good Server knew that dairy free was important and did not point out that there was sorbet on the dessert menu. Server was basically very pleasant but untrained and lazy. We are looking forward to the Atlanta Fish Market next time - it takes pride in service and food excellence.

I made the reservation through open table. Our server Mark was friendly and observant. I had asked for a ginger ale and he made sure my ginger ale was refilled without me asking. He also made sure the table was always clean. Which we haven't had that kind of services since Shula steak house and Capital Grill. The steak my husband had was excellent. The side are serve family style so we shared a garlic mash potatoes. I didn't finish my meal as I wasn't feeling too well but after our event I tore up my little filet. It was delicious. It came hot with melted cheese on there and sauerkraut and it was a hit. It came with fries but you can actually get a different side if you want. The Reuben sandwich was very good and very filling. It wasn't overly stacked like I'm used to back where I'm from but at the same time they definitely put a nice amount of meat on there so you won't be hungry after you finish. Avocado egg rolls - I tried the avocado egg rolls and they were okay but it's not my cup of tea. Personally I don't actually like avocado and it was pretty much 90% avocado inside there. At the same time it wasn't bad. If you like avocados then this is really gonna be your bag. It comes with a really sweet, maybe a teriyaki kind of sauce, but it's actually good and it helped. I'm just not a fan of that so I can't take that away from them. Lobster bisque - the Lobster Bites were okay. It tasted just like it was supposed to.
