TopChef is right. The espresso here is just ok, nothing special. Once you add a bunch of cream and sugar on top I'm sure it is passable but for someone who drinks their coffee black you might be disappointed. I tried the medium roast Americano because it is the same price as their drip coffee. Maybe I chose poorly, but I figured fresher is better. I'm sure the coffee here is a step up from the on-campus Freudian Sip, so I wouldn't dissuade any students from checking this place out. But if you are a coffee purist, a pour over from Peak Cafe or House Roots will be more to your liking. read more

I've been here twice so far and got the Matcha Einspanner both times. I can tell their matcha is good quality and I love how quick the staff is with their service. The ambiance isn't really my thing as the interior is very minimalist and I feel like it's a pretty small space, especially with the amount of customers they usually have when I come in, but it's a nice place either way! I do find it a little pricey as well but it's not a big deal if you come once in a while as a treat. I'll be coming back to try their other drinks for sure. read more

This coffee shop is very good. My daughter wanted to get their Einspanner drink (?) and presentation was out of this world The drink was very delicious and the cashier was so kind to help us decide the drinks and the pronunciation of the Einspanner drinks. This is the latest small coffee shop to open in the SFV. Tiny, clean, and modern. It is built for you to order and have elsewhere as seating is very limited and not comfortable. I had a hot latte and ordered it less sweet, extra hot with oat milk. I could taste the espresso over the sweet so in my book that's good. Price was nearly $7 which is apparently what it costs these days. Have I had better? Yes. Have I had worse? Definitely yes. Having said all this, I think they're popular for their iced drinks made with macha. read more

Delicious, high quality coffee in the valley (finally). However, I think there should be a little more focus on cleanliness/food safety standards. Cups are stored lid down on the bare table, employees are grabbing cups by the rim and wiping nose/applying chapstick while at bar. As a former barista I saw a lot of red flags that indicate a lack of training/experience. With that said I still gave 4 stars because I really do love the concept of this shop and the quality of the drinks themselves. I understand that they just opened so I hope these service issues will be addressed asap. This definitely has potential to become one of the best coffee shops in the valley! read more

Best einspanner latte I've tried so far and surprisingly this is in the valley area. Staffs were very nice and welcoming. Place is neat and cozy. It's not bad but it's not great. Matcha is pretty grainy. Matcha einspanner tastes like a matcha soft serve so it's good if you want that. Location is alright. Environment is very college vibes since it's next to CSUN so not a fan. read more

Their iced matcha with oat milk is delicious! I had to go back due it's refreshing taste. The sweetness is not too overpowering.

RE: Coffee has great potential. The service was nice and efficient. Using Acaia scales and using a powered tamper makes it easier to make the drinks repeatable and easy on the employees ergonomically. The strawberry "latte" was made with a good tasting strawberry syrup with crushed strawberries but was more strawberry milk than a latte, but that's me being overly picky about a name rather than anything about the quality. The Einspanner Latte had decent balance of vanilla, coffee and milk flavors. I am happy that the person handing out the drinks informed us about needing to stir well. But I wished the straw was a bit sturdier because while the cream was reminiscent of Dalgona coffee (Korean whipped coffee), it was thicker and the straw was a bit too weak to stir the drink well. After getting home from finishing other errands, I added a bit more ice and the ice didn't even sink through. My biggest issue was with the overly minimal aesthetic. The fact that the floors, counters, and walls are mostly hard white and grey tile makes it so that the small space reverberates everybody's voices, music, and espresso machine amplifying the noise to much higher levels than "moderate." This could be easily fixed by adding softer surfaces though out the space such as cushions and canvas paintings/ prints to absorb some of the sound and still fit the minimal aesthetic. Lastly the customer flow through the space could use some improvement by better differentiating the people waiting in line to order and people waiting for drinks/food. Thankfully the service was fast so although it was a bit awkward waiting it wasn't too long. The easiest but most expensive solution to the customer flow issue would be getting a bigger space. I hope that this coffee shop takes off and is successful enough to upgrade. read more

Firstly I'll say that the workers here are very nice. They seem a little new to the coffee world (all of them do) and should probably learn more about it. Very odd to say since they have a coffee shop. I went in with my wife and asked a few questions about their offerings there and from what I gather from it, they are really in this just to have a coffee shop, just because. If you are a coffee connoisseur, you are going to be very disappointed here. Terrible balance, bitter, milk was scorching hot, thin profile... They seem to specialize in sugar-loaded drinks with whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, so on and so forth, like many Asian beverage establishments, and do fairly well in that space. But for you basic cup of coffee, coffee at its essence, I would not recommend this place to anyone. I'll go back in the near future to give them another shot, but for now I'll continue going to House Roots. read more
