We visited for lunch on a Wednesday. Not very busy day. Two of us got linguine and clams in a white sauce and they both enjoyed their lunch. Another person got an oyster po boy. They felt not very many oysters, it was mostly breading and for the price outrageous. I got the soup special broccoli cheese. It was okay just seemed old not as fresh as I would expect. I also got the Asian lettuce pork wraps. The pork was dry and the sauce was very hot not the sweet chili I expected. We had an excellent dessert an apple tart with ice cream delicious! Our group had booked a private dining area on the second floor for 10+ people. However, due to some last minute issues on our end, only 3 of us could make it. No problem, we had committed to paying for 10+ people, so we honoured our commitment to pay for the original group size. But from the restaurant perspective, there was no offer to mix-up the fixed set menu for the three of us, even though we were paying for 10+ and really only eating for 3. Food-wise, the set menu was average. Apps were OK - flatbreads were a bit disappointing, what you might find at a bowling alley party. Mains were OK - scallops were tasty and fresh, and served with risotto done well. Overall, probably not the place we'd choose for a group meal again. Hospitality a bit lacking despite the $1500+ spend, and the food we ate, was relatively mediocre. read more

The food was okay.It was nothing amazing and it was nothing super dissapointing. My salmon sandwich was a small patty and had little slaw or sauce on it. The lobster was overcooked in the carbonara. What would've made this experience better was not sticking my 6 month old, and my boyfriend on the patio on a cold night. At first i didn't say anything because we were asked if we had reservations, even though the restaurant had plenty of open seating, just figured more people were going to fill the restaurant, nope. Then about 30 minutes into our dinner a family was sitted next to us after the tables were pushed together right under the nice warm heater, greated by a waitress with a smile and a "are you guys comfortable do you want to move inside?l". Oh weird i thought we are in a corner with no heater and the breeze coming down by our feet with a baby and didn't even get asked how odd lol. I really wish i could tell you the waitresses name but she didn't mention once her name and was awkward the entire service. I had the pleasure of dining here with family that lives in CT. Great experience! I had the mussels and asked to be cooked in the garlic & white wine sauce instead with no issue. Clam chowder was rich & creamy. My favorite was the scallops over buttery truffle risotto. Definitely will be back again! Very busy, but we were seated within 10 minutes after giving our name for a table. Once seated we had a good view on the marina. Our waitress was pleasant and served us quickly. We each ordered an appetizer. My husband ordered the crab cake which came with an apple slaw and I tried the jalapeño poppers. I found the poppers were not too hot so I could enjoy the flavor. For our meals my husband ordered the lobster roll and I tried the lobster grilled cheese. The grilled cheese was delicious! The fries were good, but too salty for me so my husband enjoyed those. Jackie was friendly, and very attentive. She helped with a rec when I was unsure. Our water glasses never went empty, our apps & soup came out quickly and was good!! Our entrees came out right after we were done. She didn't just grab the app plates, she asked if we wanted to keep whatever was left on the plates and my son did want it, so I appreciated that. We enjoyed the whole experience. We never felt rushed. Glad we went when we did, because it definitely was getting more crowded as we were heading out. Not only was the food delicious, the staff was so accommodating and kind. We brought our dog with us as they allow dogs to sit on the outdoor deck area. We stopped in to Red 36 when in the area the day after a wedding and I'm so glad we did! It was our second time visiting and we sat at the bar so we could chat with the bartender and catch the raw bar action. We were looking for a light lunch so we each had a cocktail, I enjoyed the blood orange spritz and my husband had a Bloody Mary. Both cocktails were refreshing and exactly what we were looking for! We split 6 cherry stones on the half shell along with their crispy bang bang shrimp and the smoked salmon chips. The clams were so incredibly fresh and the shrimp had a ton of flavor and were a great size. Wow! The staff is incredible and so friendly in addition to being very helpful. They know the neighborhood just as well as the menu so whatever you need they have. It was raining cats and dogs the day we went but it was still a fantastic place with outdoor seating and a lively inside. Stopped by this place on our way back from Newport, RI. The location is great, right on the water with a great view of the bridge and all the boats. I was on a shrimp craze so I ordered two types of shrimp - the shrimp cocktail and the bang bang shrimp. The shrimp cocktail was so fresh, by far the best I've tasted compared to others. The bang bang shrimp was also very good, nice and crispy coated with a great Asian chili sauce. My husband ordered the fried chicken sandwich. He is very picky and ask to add bacon and cheese instead of coleslaw, and the staff were very accommodating for his request. I had some and the chicken was fried perfectly. I added some coleslaw to it and it tasted great. Would love to visit here again if I'm ever in Mystic. Has a great view and great food, a nice combo for a good time. read more

The fritters were supper filling, pretty dense from the corn chowder maybe.The brussel sprouts was a bigger portion than we expected although a few of them were bitter. Got a Mexican salad as my entree, it was tossed well, no complaints. My boyfriend got the lobster carbonara, not too heavy like we expected, comes with a decent amount of lobster. I arrived late afternoon for some snacks and cocktails on a Saturday. The place was absolutely packed, with a nice friendly vibe and lovely ocean breeze on the deck. I started off with some Mystic oysters and had to order a second round because they were SO good. R36 loses some points because their mignonette was almost all vinegar and no shallot. I also ordered a margarita but it was not good at all. After, I ordered a Frosé and I wish I had ordered it first! So so good after walking all day in super hot and humid weather. I ended up ordering a bacon and clam flatbread (which I'd never had before). I've since ordered a few more during my stay in New Haven and R36's steals the show. I'd say it's a "must try". The crispy dough was perfectly baked, the bacon was nice and crispy. The clam pieces were large enough to see but not too large to chew and their garlic topping was on point. If you come on a summer weekend, be prepared to wait a while to be seated. The bar and open spaces are also hard to nab if you're with more than one person. I'm definitely coming back next time I'm in Mystic. read more

Went on the advice of a friend. It was crowded with at least a 40 minute wait. We decided to take the first available table in hopes of being seated sooner. Went to the bar and ordered a couple drinks. The view is beautiful. All the large boats, yachts, sailboats in the harbor and headed out. My date and I were along the outside looking at the water. The first available table strategy worked. We were seated in about half hour inside, but close enough to feel the breeze and see the boats. What I didn't like is how close the tables were to each other. Our table was literally against the couches under the awning with a couple seated there, the male basically with his arm across the edge of our table. They had put their menu behind them and it fell on me. Not good. For starters, we ordered cherry stone clams for the appetizer. They were delicious, came with tiny bottle of Tabasco, and a tangy and spicy sauce. We also had the calamari... it was Thai style. Never heard of that, the dipping sauces were fabulous. Since I wasn't that hungry after the appetizers, we spilt a tuna steak burger and fries. I didn't know what to expect, as tuna is not something I usually order. It arrived nicely plated, the tuna was cooked medium rare... and oh so tender. The cole slaw was the perfect blend of mayo and vinegar. The fries were steak cut...I dislike skinny fries. All in all, it was a nice place. Definitely had a beautiful view... but too crowded to really enjoy it. read more

We snacked on some Maine oysters (so good) and lobster roll (of course). It was nice and we had a relaxing time.
