We were looking for a late night mid-week dinner and we found this place quite by accident while wandering around the Wynn Encore Casino. We put our name in for a table and was told it would be 30 minutes. 20 minutes later, we got a text message saying our table was ready! It is lovely inside and the menu was extensive with your typical Americanized Chinese food but srpinkled with more traditional dim sum fare. We ordered the crab rangoon (very good); Oxtail soup (excellent), Miso soup (good); steamed pork buns (not good); Penang Style Flat Rice Noodles with Shrimp (excellent); a duck special (very good); Red 8 Combination Fried Rice (very good). All in all, it was a good meal. The server was quite good and my son recognized quickly that each meal price ended with $.88. That was a nice touch. So we came here to a Chinese restaurant we ordered duck on the menu and look like a full meal for $54 as you can see in the picture it's absolutely for one person. Service here absolutely not the greatest the food is OK my girlfriend is Chinese and all the people that work here are pretty much Filipino which is OK with us but he should've explained to us we didn't order enough for both of us. No reservations required for this place. Honestly extremely disappointed in this place. This is the most expensive dim sum I've ever had and the least flavorful. The XLB broth tasted like plain chicken broth had no umami flavor to it at all. Turnip cake was decent nice texture but again under seasoned. Most dishes weren't noteworthy or memorable. Kind of Odd We were right here at the Wynn and hungry. We tried Wazuzu and Mazumi in the past and had great experiences so we gave it a shot. 3/4 items were kind of not so good. The crab Rangoon were delicious. The Cantonese dumplings were pretty good- very fresh but the veggies overpowered the meat. The shrimp and pork dumpling soup was really fishy. The soft shell crab had too much breading was over cooked and I thought it was gross that it had not been cleaned and had crab poop in it. Ew. Overall we wish we had hoofed it to Wazuzu or taken a cab somewhere. read more

Unfortunately we had a late start and didn't have much choice for dining. For some dumb reason, most restaurants close at 10-10:30pm in Vegas. Can someone please tell me why? Makes no sense. This was the primarily reason why we decided to eat here. Besides, it was next door to Blush, where he planned to hit up later. We ordered the Chilean Sea Bass, and some noodle I can't even remember. Neither was spectacular. The seabass was breaded and had the taste and texture of cod. It tasted so cod-like that I even had to wave the waiter down and ask if the Gordon Fisherman baked this shit. I have never had a piece of seabass that flaked like cod. It typically is more fibrous like soft scallops than overcooked cod. Skip this place if you can. They charge $7 for tea here. read more

I love this place. Food is tasty. Service is fantastic. The Asian American manager is very attentive, remembers your face. However, if you place an order online or over phone, giving your phone number or email so that Red 8's automated system texts or emails you that your order is ready, it is hit or miss if the food is warm. I've ordered 6 times over 8 days, and 5 of the 6 days, the take out was cold. Since there is no microwave in the Wynn rooms, you will eat cold food. The remedy to this is to go downstairs and grab the food right off the grill as soon as possible to get hot food. Timing is involved. I love this place though. read more

The restaurant is beautiful and I have wanted to dine here for quite a while. Service was awful though. I understand they were busy but I didn't expect to be made to feel so rushed. Our waitress seemed very overwhelmed so perhaps they were understaffed but it didn't result in a good experience. I have a gluten allergy and when I informed the waitress she offered zero guidance. I quickly ordered pad Thai because I know it can easily be made gluten free. The dish I received was a completely tasteless bowl of rice noodles with no sauce or vegetables. So strange that I didn't even have the green onion that is in no way confused with a gluten. My dining companion ordered the pad Thai as well without any allergy requests and his dish looked delicious. My recommendation would be to avoid this place if you have any allergies. Wazuzu, Terrace Point Cafe, and Tableau (all located in the Wynn) are absolutely delicious, have phenomenal service and are exceptionally helpful with food allergy guidance. read more

3.5 stars . The dim sum was great, which is what my friend and I had. The fried rice Selections were also good. I mean you're paying hotel food prices so it is definitely expensive. Dined here again on a Tuesday evening around 6:30p. Hostess says 30-40 minutes wait for a table. Waited only 15 minutes. Nice! Compared to our last visit in late April, the food seems to have improved significantly. Had the chickens feet. Excellent! Abalone Shu Mai and Vegetable Spring Rolls were good, but I probably would not order again. The soft shell crab was good, but the batter seems a bit different and heavier than in April, but still very good. The Hong Kong style fried noodle with seafood was done well. I ate at Red 8 twice on my recent trip to Vegas since it was conveniently located steps from the elevator to my room. Both times were during lunch and we were able to get seated right away. All dining on the strip is expensive however Red 8 seemed less expensive than some of the other Chinese restaurants I've been to. All of the dim sum and noodle soups I tried were just as good anything I've had at Chinatowns across the U.S. Everything tasted good and was freshly cooked. Arrived to Las Vegas around 10pm. Which sort of sucks since most restaurants or at least decent ones on the Strip close at 10, which is monumentally surprising given the nightlife and casinos. This place was open and given it is in Wynn's Chinese themed hotel the restaurant service Chinese cuisine. But this is not your run of the mill Chinese place that you see on the corner. The restaurant is casual but the quality is that you would expect from a high end place. So we came in about 10 pm. We ordered. Classic Hot & Sour, Miso Soup, Lettuce Wraps, Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian Beef and Fried Rice to share. I can't say I have had a better quality Chinese cuisine. Unlike the neighborhood places the food was light and not hit your stomach like a ton of bricks but filling enough. I would love to visit the place again. read more

I'm going to give this 2 stars simply because the pork belly was tasty. The rest of the food was bland. We were there for a large (80,000 person) conference, and thought we'd try it out with some friends. They seemed to think adding peppers would fix the blandness - however those were hit or miss either the pepper was insanely hot, or was yet another bit of cardboard. And the waiter (Joe?) - holy crow. This was the absolute worst service I've had in a long time. He ignored us most of the time. Seriously - 20 minutes after the initial drink order to get him to come to the table to place a food order. He literally would look right at us, then go "bus" a table. By "bus" I mean he would remove a single dirty spoon from a table. Oh. To top things off - he actually forcefully shoved the check in my face. Nearly hitting me with it. FYI The portion for this dish could be shared with 2 (or 3 if you aren't a big eater) Service was good. I wouldn't be lying if I said this was one of the worst restaurants on the strip. The only reason I have it an extra star was because a couple of the dishes were tasty. Why the bad review? Because the food was generally on opposite extremes. The food was generally bland and extremely spicy at the same time. How can Kung Pao Chicken be that bad? Also, to try and get through the blandness, they insert some of the spiciest peppers on the planet which pretty much ruins your experience because all you're doing is trying not to choke. I get spicy. I like spicy. This was bad. Finally, the service was horrible. The waiter was rude, inattentive and just generally looked like he didn't want to be there. He even shoved the check in my friend's face at the end. This place reminded me of a hole in the wall in a back alley more than a prominent restaurant on the strip, and at Wynn, no less. I'm giving this place 5 stars because of the second meal that we had there. The first was a boiled skin on chicken breast with terribly overcooked rice. The dumplings weren't good either. However, we gave it another chance and it didn't disappoint. Lettuce wraps and noodle bowls were excellent and the service both times was really good too. A lady either the hostess or manager approached us and told us our 2 year old's cry was "disturbing other customers". Not only was I shocked to even hear someone would make such a "complaint", but a representative of Red8 would tolerate this nonsense. As a paying customer of both Wynn and Red 8, are we not allowed to have Thanksgiving dinner out because we have kids? It is written on their official website that kids under 5 are allowed. Do they expect all kids to not make a sound? This lady's approach to resolving this "complaint" from another customer is completely unprofessional, inappropriate, and disrespectful. This place needs negative stars. We came here after a drive that took several hours longer due to a bad accident. My toddler and 1 year old and I were starving and we were so excited to eat here. We had to walk in around the back because it was the only place to walk up with a stroller as the front is just stairs. So we get back up to the front and were to the side of the the hostess and she had the audacity to ask us to like go all the way to the front to talk about getting a table. I found it odd, but we were starving and just wanted to be seated to eat. Then she asks if we want a high chair. We say yes and then ask for a table where we can put our stroller on the side. She then says that the stroller can be outside of the restaurant. We say no because as soon as my son eats, he will go to sleep. It was late. We were not about to put our expensive stroller somewhere where we can't access it. We try to explain again and then she says ,it's our company policy' and no strollers are allowed inside the restaurant. We have eaten at some of the finest, high end restaurants in Vegas and around the world with our kids and never, ever been denied entry and discriminated against because we have a child in a stroller. This wasn't like a double stroller or a wagon, just a normal stroller we take everywhere we go. We left extremely upset and shocked. Don't worry though, I will make sure to let all the family travel and mom groups on social media know what kind of a restaurant this is. We gladly took our money and stroller elsewhere. Update your archaic policy and be more inclusive for families. My 1 year old is a heart warrior and survived open heart surgery, but not coming to the red 8 for freaking dinner! read more

Upscale Chinese restaurant. Small dress code...I had to face my hat to the front. Food is tasty. Noodles are legit. Dim sum is just like any other dim sum. It's all relative. This four star review is considering that I'm eating at Wynn right by the casino floor. I've come to learn that almost ALL Vegas restaurants located on premises for all the major resorts are a complete rip off. That includes getting something as simple as a sandwich. So if I'm going to pay $20 an entree, I might as well get some decent Chinese food. The decor is Asian themed and pretty cool. It's super convenient for those who are gambling or for those like me that are staying at the Wynn and don't want to wander off the resort to grab a meal. Service was also pretty good for a Vegas restaurant. Ok let's get to the food. I ordered Mongolian Beef and Roasted Duck and a bowl of white rice. They were extremely generous with the amount of beef in the Mongolian beef dish, like there was a lot! I was impressed. And their roasted duck was very meaty and crispy. I was expecting subpar duck but it passed the test. So overall, it was a pretty good meal. Let's not talk about value cause there is no value to be had eating on premises of any of the big casinos. You come to the Wynn to have a great resort experience and dining experience as well. The food here was medicore at best and the prices were hefty. Not to mention service was non existent for most of our meal even with the restaurant not being that busy. Our waitress came to our table and had a scowl on her face with no smile in sight. I'm not a politeness snob from wait staff usually but if you look at us unhappily I will notice. They also got our order incorrect, we ordered the beef tofu and they gave us ma po tofu. We ordered mongolian beef here and the portion was tiny! I paid almost $20 for it and the ingredients weren't top notch and the portion was low. With our recent visit, we noticed that the portions were significantly less than when we last visited which was only a few months ago. Prices are pretty steep for what it was and the fact that they don't take reservations is a bummer. We had to wait in line only to be told that they weren't taking any more guests to dine-in. When we looked around, we noticed that there were still so many seats available and the lady wasn't willing to open a seat for us. We ordered the same dishes that we had at our last visit and all the portions were half sized smaller and the only thing we really enjoyed was just the assorted BBQ meat appetizer.
