For the mains, we ordered the Dry Chilli Chicken and a massive plate of Hakka Noodles. The wok hei (breath of the wok) on the noodles was spot on, and the chicken had that perfect fiery balance of ginger, garlic, and Thai bird...

chilies without being overly greasy. We also grabbed a mild Sweet Corn Soup for our toddler, which ended up being a huge hit. The ambiance is modern and clean. While the prices run a bit higher than your average takeout spot, the portion sizes and the quality of the ingredients more than justify the bill. If you need a taste of nostalgic, punchy Indo-Chinese food, this is the spot. We'll definitely be regulars once we're completely unpacked!

They meat was super refreshing and light for the lettuce cups. I recommend and get it again 5/5! Honey Chicken - The sauce is pretty sweet but very tasty. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't like spice. 4/5 for me. Prawns - These were extremely good! Crispy and had the perfect kick to them 5/5! Chili Garlic Noodles w/ Chicken - The noodles were a lot thinner than I expected but nevertheless there was so much flavor in these and they were slightly spicy but in the best way! 5/5 Service was amazing and they even gave a Valentine's dessert to the table. Honestly, I was a little skeptical at first. Indian and Chinese fusion? I wasn't sure how that would work. Plus, spicy food wasn't exactly what I was craving the day we decided to try this. I wasn't sure how it would sit with my stomach. But wow wow, this place completely exceeded my expectations. First off, it's 100% halal, which is a huge plus since it can be hard to find good halal restaurants (It's listed on restaurant menu that only halal meat is served). The service from our waiter was excellent. He knew the menu well, gave thoughtful recommendations, and was incredibly accommodating. When we mentioned that one person in our group was pregnant, he immediately offered to have the chef prepare dishes without MSG, which was such a thoughtful detail we hadn't even considered. The food itself was amazing. Super flavorful, saucy, and unique. The fusion of Indian and Chinese cuisine was creative and worked so much better than I expected. We originally ordered five plates for our table of five + a 2 year old, but we were so impressed that we ended up ordering three additional dishes because everything was just that good. I really liked the fact that we can adjust the spice levels of the dishes. One small downside was our initial interaction when we arrived. The person seating us seemed a bit annoyed or perhaps caught off guard that we didn't have a reservation, which felt a little odd considering we arrived right at opening time (5:30 PM) and were the first customers there. It wasn't a huge issue, but it did stand out compared to how welcoming the rest of the staff were. Overall, though, the incredible food and excellent waiter service outweighed that minor first impression. If you're hesitant about Indo-Chinese fusion cuisine, don't be. This place is worth trying and I'd definitely come back. In fact, I'm recommending this place to any of my family or friends that visit the Bay Area. It's THAT good.

We were craving for some authentic Indo Chinese food and with a quick Yelp search we found this spot! Parking was relatively tricky but we were able to find street parking. We went without a reservation on a Saturday night. Although the restaurant was decently packed, we were seated with minimal wait time. We got the gobhi manchurian gravy and the hakka noodles. We were super excited for the food! The food came out relatively quickly. The portion size was adequate for two people. The Manchurian was saucy and flavorful. It had the right amount of spice. The noodles were cooked well and had a lot of vegetables. Both the dishes went well together. We also got a litchi martini. It was well made but a bit sour for my liking. All in all, this was a nice spot. We hope to visit again and try other dishes too!

I've reviewed Red Hot Chilli Pepper, before but after having lunch here yesterday I found myself wanting to share with you what a great dining experience it was. When walking into the restaurant we were greeted immediately along with being remembered from past experiences. We ordered the Chicken Momo Dumplings because they are worth going in for but requires 15 or 20 minutes extra time as they are made to order so they are mouth watering delicious. 5 big Stars for the best Dumplings ever! We also ordered the Chicken Spring Rolls, and I most always stay away from anything deep fried..they are delicious I ordered my go to favorite, the Honey Chicken. It has chunks of fresh pineapple in the dish which makes me very happy. I ordered the rice to go with it. I forgot the other Chicken entrée but I photographed it. It was served on an iron skillet hot plate with onions and it was stellar. I usually skip dessert but they offer tartufo with pistachio or coffee flavors. They are cooling and refreshing after the Indonesian flavorful spices. Downtown San Carlos, delivers great dining options but Red Hot Chilli Pepper is definitely one of the best restaurants to check out. Go for it!

I would've given 3 stars for the price to portion ratio but 4 because I mostly liked the food. Definitely closer to comfort indo chinese and food was fine but not amazing. Service was very nice and so was ambiance, was not crowded on a saturday evening we were able to be seated immediately. Appetizer plates were on the smaller side for sure. Liked: 4/5 Chili fish - I do appreciate they filled the plate with fish 4/5 Chili baby corn (fyi same flavor as the chili fish so you don't need to order both) 4/5 Hakka noodle - not very special-unique but good, I did feel like it was pretty small portion for the price 3.5/5 Molten banana cake (gluten free and vegan) - honestly not bad but a little small and a little dry, more warm muffin consistency 5/5 Indo chino chicken- I don't eat chicken but crowd sourced from the table Disliked 2/5 - Vegetable coins in manchurian sauce - didn't like the sauce it was not flavorful and borderline a bit bitter, the coins are very large like the size of my palm and are a little tough. 2/5 - Chili crispy potato - this was french fry like potato with the same chili flavor... I thought it was blander I didn't care for it 2/5 Chili garlic noodles - tastes exactly like chili garlic sauce on noodles... it reminds me of something I'd make for myself at home in college, not my current taste pallete ig I could come back here bc my fiancé loves this place but it's not my first choice.

This is our go to place for Indo-Chinese food in Bay Area, cauliflower Manchurian is the best!! Also the burnt garlic fried rice with egg was really good, Mickey has always been very attentive and taking care of us, He also gave good suggestions for drinks and food. Highly recommend this place!

My family has walked by this place so many times, but never tried it since my youngest can't handle spice. She happened to be busy so we went out to dinner without her and decided to finally try this place. There is ample street parking in downtown San Carlos. It's also free! After finding parking, we arrived at the restaurant but the Closed sign was showing. I saw a few patrons in the restaurant and inquired if indeed they were closed, and the host said they were open and the sign was just flipped backwards accidentally. Since we had never dined here before and are relatively new to Indo-Chinese cuisine, our server provided helpful suggestions on what to order. We ended up sampling the chilli baby corn, Calcutta chicken, and the chilli garlic noodles with tofu. Each dish was very flavorful and while it was moderately spicy, the spice did not overpower the taste of the dishes. I thought the chili baby corn was very unique as I had never seen just a baby corn dish on a menu before. Baby corn is fried in a light batter then stir fried in a soy based sauce that was savory yet spicy. The Calcutta chicken was delicious as well. The chicken was also lightly fried in a spicy sauce, but the taste was different than the chili baby corn. The noodles were just OK in my opinion. Maybe because I prefer thicker and wider noodles? It was fine, just not as good as the other two dishes. I'd probably wouldn't order the noodles again. I'll definitely come back to try more dishes though...my husband wants to try the ghost pepper dishes that require a waiver. So crazy! read more

Came here on a weekday for early dinner and glad that I did. Probably the best monchow soup I've had in a long time, here in the States! We also got the Calcutta chicken - so good and the chilli garlic noodles - amazing! The only reason I reduced a star was because it was too spicy for me to handle, we did medium spicy! Flavour wise, it was so good! We also got a shrimp dish, which I did not try but everyone loved it. Quantity was huge! Oh the masala soda is also really good! They also have a ghost pepper dish on their menu that you need to sign a waiver for - never seen this on any menu. I definitely want to be back to try more food and ask for less spicy option. ( pretty disappointed in myself that I couldn't handle the spice and my non Indian colleagues could :P ) read more

We ordered food to go but I think food tastes best when it's hot and not so much when you reheat it. Huge portions. Great food. Don't miss the momos and Hakka noodles What I also liked the chilli baby corn and dry cooked tofu which is a stir fry. A little on the oily side. Be careful with the spice level. It can be too much to handle. If you are not used to spices, go mild. My go to place when I am craving some comfort food. read more

One of the best services i've ever experienced in years of going to this restaurant. The food was exceptionally good and the ambiance was not too harsh on the senses. It was early in the evening, so there weren't too many people in the restaurant, but there were other groups of people eating as well. Overall, a must-try for good indo-chinese cuisine. This is the place where appetite meets the taste. Add to that- a great customer service. Located at one of the vibrant streets in San Carlos, this places offers good food in a very quiet environment. If you want to have some down time to enjoy your good, look no further. At Red Hot Chilli Pepper, you get to enjoy amazing combination of Chinese food with the twist of some amazing South Asian herbs and spices. When we got there, the place was pretty much empty. We were the only table at that time. Few other guests walked in later. The wait staff took care of us immediately. They were courteous enough to ask us how long we wanted them to wait between one order and another. They didn't just hand off the food and be done with us like in many other places. They kept checking on us to see how we were liking the food. We had fried rice-which was my favorite from the evening, Pan Fried Paneer, T'Sing Hoi Potatoes, Corn Pepper Salt, Dry Cauliflower Manchurian. They recommended Lava Cake for the dessert which was bomb. Everyone in the group loved everything. Such an outstanding experience. We came here for a team lunch so we ordered a good amount of family style items. This is a gem of a spot that focuses on Indo-Chinese cuisine. My favorites here are the soups, the Szechuan shrimp, and egg wrapped fried rice. I will say that it's important to read the item descriptions carefully to see what you want. Since we ordered a lot of appetizers/entrees, some tasted almost the same with just some different ratio of soy sauce and chilli sauce - especially the ones involving fried chicken. read more

If you are looking for a restaurant that charges extra for the eggs in their egg friend rice, you've come to the right place. Spoiler Alert: Their menu! Most dishes listed are "base" dishes. Then you must +chicken or +shrimp or +... Finally when you look at your bill, the cost of the add-ons quickly approaches the cost of the entrees. Explains why we were the only table during peak lunch hour on a weekend. Thankfully there wasn't a surcharge for being the only table! One of my awesome coworkers recommended this restaurant a few months back and my oh my it became my new obsession. We usually go with: - Veggie Egg Rolls. Crispy deliciousness yes please. - Chili Paneer. It's tangy, it's spicy, it has yummy veggies. - Hakka Noodles, veggie, does the trick - Szechuan Paneer, my favorite! Will literally go here just because I'm craving this. - Rose Lemonade, love it Spice levels are indicated on the menu and are accurate. Everything is served family style which makes it cozy but when you order a lot (cough) it involves some "pass me the x" and arm stretching moments. Guess how long this restaurant has been on my list......about 15 years! Yes! You read that right. After dining here I realized this is what I have been missing in life....Indo-Chinese Cuisine done right! Make a reservation, for sure. The Friday we were there, they had 90 reservations for the evening. We had a reservation for 6:30pm and it wasn't really busy at that time. By the time we left, it was really starting to fill up. A shoutout for the gentleman who was serving our table, he was so kind and I could see him smile under his mask. Took great care of us and added to our dining experience. Now for the food in the order of my family's rating: 1. Dry Cauliflower Manchurian- 5/5 the best dish of the evening 2. Chili Garlic Noodles- 5/5 another favorite at our table 3. Chili Baby Corn- 4/5 another favorite 4. Spicy Dry Cooked Paneer- 4/5 I liked it but may try another paneer entree next time 5. Oh one of my favourite restaurants of Calcutta is here! They have maintained the quality here! The food was absolutely delicious - I ordered the chilli garlic noodles, stir-fried tofu with vegetables, and crispy chilli baby corn. The portion sizes were generous, and the quality of the dishes was exceptional. What sets this place apart is not just the food, but also the inviting ambience and attentive service. When I told the receptionist that I'm from Calcutta they put in extra effort to make sure that they match the experience. I highly recommend! I'm already looking forward to my next visit! read more

Came here with my family (4 people total). We randomly walked in on a Wednesday evening. Cauliflower Manchurian: I love gobi manchurian and get it at every restaurant that has it. This was average. With that said, it was still the best item we got. Chili baby corn: Unfortunately the flavor does not soak through the breading into the baby corn so it just tasted like we were eating bland baby corn with flavored beading. Do not get. Chili chicken: You get a choice of dry vs sauce. The waiter recommended the sauce version. It was not very good. There was nothing special about this and we had a lot of this left over. Indo Chino chicken: Another recommended item from the waiter. It again was mediocre. Edible, but nothing special. Overall, I was just so unimpressed with this place. For the price I would definitely not come back here again. Location is nice, interior and service was fine. read more

We love Indian Chinese food and typically go to Inchin which is by our house. This restaurant's food was outstanding. We ordered the following; - Hakka noodles with Chicken- it was so fresh and tasty and not overwhelming with onions and other things. Just a well balanced meal. - Chilly Chicken with gravy- Typically Indian Chinese places make this bland and not enough of vinegar or spice and they actually did a great job as it reminded me of the dish I used to enjoy as a kid in India. - Chicken nuggets and fries (kids)- The fries were very tasty and fresh and the nuggets were tasty. What a great experience I had. I came with a large group of friends and they seated us in a private room. The customer service was phenomenal and the food was fantastic. My favorite was the dessert, the ice cream with the crunchy strips and the chocolate lava cake. Highly recommend! The drinks menu is fantastic, my favorite was the lychee martini. If you like indo-Chinese food, this place is a must try! My fiancé's family raved about this place recently so I really wanted to try it out. We came here around 2pm on a Sunday and there was luckily no wait but if you're going at peak times, I'd recommend a reservation. We got seated immediately and put in our order in the next couple of minutes. Our sweet corn soup came first within 5 minutes of us ordering and the chili paneer and egg wrapped fried rice came shortly after. Delicious food and amazing service! If you're craving Indo-Chinese / Hakka food, this is one of the best restaurants in the bay area. Went here for a team lunch recently. It's a good place for big groups. Street parking is difficult to find, but there is a parking garage 2 blocks away, which had a lot of spots. The service was a little slow. This place is well known for Indian chinese food in the Bay Area. It's pretty vegetarian friendly. I tried the gobi manchurian and tofu lettuce cups, which were both good. For the main course, I got the vegetable coins in manchurian sauce (got it made extra spicy). This was good but not great. I've had food delivered from this restaurant a few times. I really liked the chili garlic noodles (spicy) and the manchow soup (I asked for this to be made spicy, and they made it eye-watering spicy). The best indo-Chinese food in Bay Area. Period! Restaurant is located in downtown San Carlos. Parking can sometimes be an issue. There is a small parking lot behind the restaurant. The decor is red and black. Try making a reservation via yelp if you are going on weekends. The servers are friendly. The food comes out literally in a few minutes post you order. Had a variety of food Masala lime soda: it's exactly what the name suggests- a salty fizzy lemonade with chaat masala. Very refreshing! Manchow soup: comes with fried noodles on the side. Really yum. Must order! Crispy chili potato: these are like French fries but better! Can't stop eating them Hakka noodles: the best Hakka noodles I have ever had outside India! Thin noodles, very well seasoned. Goes with any other sauce based entree or by itself. Chilli chicken gravy: good quantity and good taste. No complains. I have to say it's pretty average experience for me! We went into a group of 5 and ordered a few dishes. 1) Chilly chicken seemed okay. 2) I think Baby corn chilly was not up to the mark at all. Poorly breaded and marinated, seems like baby corn was not even marinated and lacked sweet/salty/sour burst of flavoring for which we love Indo Chinese food. 3) Chilly garlic and Hakka noodles were okay. They were super attentive, and asked if the modifications for different orders were the same. And when they made a small mistake, they quickly noticed without me even pointing it out, and resolved it. I was very impressed. Skewers are tasty. Note for self: between the beef and the lamb skewers, we actually preferred the beef. Maybe because it's a bit more fatty. Garlic sauce on the eggplant and vermicelli scallop is slightly spicy, but not too bad, probably from the garlic kick. Would come back again! Also it's super kid friendly surprisingly. Lots of high chairs and lots of kids eating there.

Just a heads up, they only accept phone reservations for groups of 6 or more. If you have fewer than 6 people, it's walk-in only. Ordering is done through a QR code where you can add items to your cart. I actually liked that multiple people in the party can scan the QR code and add items themselves instead of having one designated person order everything or having separate carts that no one else can see. The only downside is that it can be easy to accidentally over-order if someone adds something you were already planning to get, so I recommend reviewing your cart carefully before submitting. Since this is a skewer restaurant, you probably won't get super full from just ordering skewers, so I recommend getting some main dishes as well if you want to feel satisfied without spending too much on just meat. Service was pretty quick and the skewers came out in a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately, they were sold out of a few items we wanted to try, which was a little disappointing, but maybe that's a sign I'll have to come back again. Everything we did try was delicious. The skewers were well-seasoned, and they also have extra seasoning available at the table. They allowed us to bring a birthday cake, stored it in their freezer for us, and provided plastic forks and paper plates, which was a nice touch. Our waitress was also very friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and would consider coming back when I'm in the mood for skewers. I don't think it's somewhere I'd crave all the time, but I have no major complaints. Parking can be a little difficult, but luckily we were able to find public parking at the garage on Flores Street.

The place itself was clean and the vibe was pretty chill in there. I did go around an hour before they close. I actually appreciated the vibe as I was trying to relax. Looking over the menu, there were a few dishes that I've never seen at a Thai restaurant before which piqued my curiosity but for the first time at any place, I generally like to get my footing with the classics first. Hence, we started with the roti. Personally, I really liked their chicken curry on the side. It was rich and unctuous, perfect for clinging onto the roti. The roti, however, was unexpectedly deep fried and I personally thought this took away from the buttery flaky texture. For mains, we ordered several plates but few actually stood out. The chicken in the green curry was super overcooked and the curry itself was pretty thin. The main ingredient was also canned bamboo shoots so in my opinion, it was not good value. The larb was also a fairly small serving size and it wasn't quite as punchy as I would like. I typically associate larb with a lot of fresh herbs and lettuce leaves for eating and unfortunately neither were present. Moreover the green beans we ordered were also sautéed just a bit under leading it to be a little grassy and a bit tougher to chew. There also wasn't much flavoring on this. The tiger crying and the pad see ew though were as expected in my opinion which was good. We also added a few of their dressed oysters after learning that it was $1.50 each. Now this was punchy. It had some chili jam, lime juice, and fried shallots. I would have more of these for sure. All in all, Sen Thai is middle of the road for me. It'll scratch that itch for Thai food if you really want it but there's also better options in nearby cities in my opinion.

From the sidewalk, this restaurant looks sharp and even slightly trendy. But things did not impress me once I walked in and got the red curtain out of my face. The chairs are this big, bulking things that belong in a Medieval castle. They were not comfortable and hard to move in. The menus were the size of Texas. I was afraid of accidentally knocking off things from the table just by trying to carefully open the menu. The menu had all kinds of pictures, numbers and symbols that was confusing for me. When I asked my server, a white guy --he's the only white guy in the entire restaurant -- about some of the spice levels, he proved to be equally confusing and unhelpful. Ever heard of a server actually knowing MORE about the menu than the customer? But the bussers who seemed to only speak 7.5 words of English seemed attentive. It's hard to tell when you cannot communicate with them. When I visited the bathroom, it was all the way back along this cold, dank corridor in the very back of the restaurant. The walk there felt kinda spooky. The bathroom did not seem to fit the rest of the restaurant. It was tidy but it was glaringly bright and the appearance and color scheme seem to fit a 1950s truck stop in the American mid-south hick country. The bar menu seemed like a hodge-podge of whatever. It did not seem to fit the restaurant and the organization befuddled me and their own employees. And, their employees did not seem to know the drinks all that well and took them forever to deliver the drinks to our table. But the food here is pretty exciting and good! The short ribs and duck was to very, very flavorful and delicious! The rice was served in a bamboo steaming bowl which was quite nice, I thought. The portion was good and the prices was good, too. The food was a little spicier than I had thought, but, it was still top-notch. Since we shared our food, we really got a chance to try different things. Since our server did not drop the dessert menu and did not seem to even be slightly interested in asking us about ordering dessert, we called it a night and paid for our food. We gave him a good tip even though we all believed it was charity since he did not earn it. I hope the owner of the restaurant get familiar with the Western idea of customer service and hospitality. For me, as a customer, it is important that the people I talk to can actually speak English, know most of the information on the food and drink menu, a clean, welcoming bathroom and have employees who can tell me about all the great stuff a restaurant have to offer me! Plus the chairs and menus are dorky and dysfunctional to me. I think the bar area (we were almost going to sit there) looked like the carpenter walked off the job without completing construction of the bar. There were also all these kids that were making all kinds of noise that made an already loud restaurant even more chaotic and loud! And the whole place smelled of something in the air that made me and my friends cough (ever heard of restaurant ventilation?) and nearly choking on our delicious dinner! I don't know; maybe I am being harsh, but, really? If the good-tasting food is all this restaurant have to offer any customer, they might suffer in the downtown San Carlos scene because there are other restaurants that offer this and much, much more to customers. Actually some of the dishes were good but they are severely under-staffed. I joined a group dinner and waved them over to order. They said ok we will be right back. So far so good. 45 min later they came back and the first thing they said was "kitchen closes in 15 min".. This was after a long and extremely stressful day but I looked around and this was the only waiter around. So I said great I hope you can get me a menu in less than 10 and we are all good. Iit took another 20 to get the drink I ordered when I first waved them over. So that was 65 minutes to get a drink. Next time I'll order 2 the moment I walk in. And this was all on a Wed night after 8:30. The devil's chicken was advertised as so hot you get free beer all week. We ordered it to try and it was very spicy but not painful. But then at 65 min to get a drink I guess the cost to them would still be 0 unless you come all week with Mifi and nothing else to do for the evening. The crispy lamb looked the most promising but was in fact the only boring dish we tried. We had a few other dishes like chili chicken some kind of prawn dish etc. In every case the spices were really excellent but the meat and old tasted slightly cheap and fried to the consistency of French fries from a fast-food joint or cafes run by older men named Bob or Bill (name of establishment and the retired ex-owner). So in a way it was more like an authentic Indian experience mixed with American Chinese flavors. As if the chef was a good Indian cook who took the local greasy Chinese food at face value and blended the two. If we send the chef to Sichuan for a week and teach him how to use less quantities of more expensive oil I can easily imagine 5 star dishes and I'm dead serious. The place was really busy so maybe after they turn a profit it will actually improve. I'm willing to try again as the other choices in San Carlos are watered down Burmese, bland Italian or American business bar steak and drink places with comforting facades. read more

Red Hot Chili Pepper is a restaurant located in Redwood City that offers a wide range of Asian-inspired dishes. Recently, I ordered delivery from them and tried a variety of dishes, including the Chilli Baby Corn, Pan Fried Chilli Tofu/Paneer, Chicken Momo Dumplings, Vegetable Coins in Manchurian Sauce, Vegetable Fried Rice, Chilli Garlic Noodles (vegetarian), and Szechwan Fried Rice (vegetarian). Overall, my experience was quite good, and I would give it 4 stars. The standout dishes for me were the Chilli Baby Corn and Pan Fried Chilli Tofu/Paneer. Both were very spicy, but incredibly flavorful. The heat level was definitely high, even for someone like me who likes spicy food, but it didn't overpower the other flavors in the dishes. The Chilli Baby Corn had a great texture, and the tofu/paneer was cooked perfectly, with a nice crispy exterior and a soft, creamy interior. The Vegetable Coins in Manchurian Sauce were also quite good, although not quite as spicy as the other dishes. The sauce had a nice sweetness to it that balanced out the savory flavors. The Vegetable Fried Rice and Szechwan Fried Rice were both tasty, although not particularly memorable. The Chilli Garlic Noodles were decent, but a bit too greasy for my liking. The Chicken Momo Dumplings were the one dish that didn't quite live up to my expectations. While they were perfectly fine, they didn't have the same level of flavor and complexity as the other dishes. They were a bit bland, and the filling was a bit dry. Overall, I would definitely recommend Red Hot Chili Pepper to anyone looking for spicy, flavorful Asian-inspired food. While some of the dishes were a bit too spicy for my taste, they were still incredibly tasty, and I appreciated the fact that the heat level didn't overwhelm the other flavors. This review is overdue, so here it goes. We have been a regular at this restaurant for quite some time now, mainly because it is the only place that offers decent Indian Chinese in the bay area. While the food here is generally good and satisfies cravings, there are a few aspects that could use improvement. Most of the time, the flavors are spot on, reminiscent of the taste I grew up with. However, there have been instances where the saltiness was overpowering, leaving me longing for a more balanced palate. Unfortunately, the service at this establishment has consistently been a letdown. During my last visit, I specifically requested a fresh lime soda without sugar, emphasizing my preference to the waiter. But guess what, the drink arrived with an unwanted addition of sprite. I had to return it and get a replacement, which was not fun. Later, the busboy began clearing the table while one person in our group was still enjoying their meal. It would have been courteous for the staff to ask if it was alright to remove the dishes, rather than assuming it was time to clean up. Additionally, remember you won't get that window seat in the restaurant unless you made an online booking, even if the restaurant is completely empty- like seriously? Why? It is clear that the staff here needs better training and attention to detail. On a positive note, the kitchen operates with efficiency, ensuring that the food arrives promptly after ordering. Their munchow soup, schezuan fried rice, hakka noodles, chili chicken, our go-to dishes, never fail to deliver in terms of taste and texture. A tough review to justify. Years ago in NYC fell in love with Chinese Mirch on Lex. Completely adore the spice and the spin on Chinese dishes. I get it and truly do love this fusion. It works beautifully. Just thinking about the tangy heat of the spices makes the mouth water. So doing a 'find a new spot' in the mid-Peninsula and the menu read like a dream come true. At last a place that does this style on the West Coast. Started with the dry chicken small plate & oh yes, this is right in the pocket. Next up the dumplings are a little gritty but love the thick chutney and whatever they are doing inside with fresh green leafy spices. On the money. Service is very attentive. The crowd was as expected, we were to only non-Indian couple in the room. Lots of families and big parties. Everyone was having a great time. At this point I am happy. She is happy. Some pan fried noodles for the kid and a super tasty cauliflower dish. Then came a beef dish that for whatever reason had way too much oil. And that's where the trouble started. It was bad oil. Things started bubbling about two hours after paying and now a day later, the GI tract is just about done with the bad-oil trips to the bathroom. Really truly want to give the green light, but sadly this place needs to change. I eat super spicy all the time. The Ghost Peppers here are fantastic. I know it wasn't the peppers that got me going, it was the oil. Traveled enough less developed countries to identify the difference. Should be a 5-star. Let me know when there's fresh oil. 5 Stars! Came in on Friday with a few friends and was promptly seated. The music this time around was waaay better. The place was crowded and we got lucky that we came in before the big tables. The place seemed like it is doing well which is good to see because we're coming here after about 2.5 months. Food: 5 Stars! Anyways, got the Chicken Lettuce Cups - awesomeness! Braised short ribs - Amazing!!! Honey Chicken - Toooo tooo good!! All in all an amazing meal. Bar: They had great happy hour specials - Draft was $3 which is amazing for Devil's Canyon and Stella. Wine is also decently priced so I like what they've done with their menu an choice. Service: 4.5 Stars Seated right away though our table was a little towards the back. Would have loved to be seated close to the window or the bar. Bar seemed busy so may be next time we sit at the bar. The only thing I didn't get a chance to try is their new dessert menu - the waitress (who was limping and seemed like she was in pain) told us that they have an amazing chocolate dessert and is very popular. If u want to go with kids....REALLY DO NOT TAKE KIDS .NOT A KIDS FRIENDLY RESTAURANT. Owner RAKESH TANDON is the most offensive person i have ever met.Staff is so unfriendly .The STAFF started a fight with us becoz - 1. my son was mixing salt and pepper in the water :-(((.According to them i should stop him from doing that.But my thoughts were as long as he is quietly doing something non dangerous it is fine with me.Later the waiter STEVE[moron,bastard ,fucking ass hole]...no more words to express grabbed the salt pepper shaker from him,which really offended us. 2.My son was playing with a baby girl on other table,he said my son was messing with the girl[but we asked the mom of the baby several times before letting him go to her and she was fine and actually happy that the kids were enjoying themselves] The waiter STEVE used launguage like -UR WIFE IS MUGGING ME SINCE THE TIME SHE HAS ENTERED.as if we are there to mug them and not eat food.Finally we left the restaurant ..... We recently celebrated our daughter's high school graduation at Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and once again, this incredible restaurant exceeded all expectations. We've dined here many times over the years, and the food and service are always top-notch -- but this time, they truly outdid themselves. A huge thank you to Mickey, the head waiter, who went above and beyond to make us feel special and comfortable throughout the evening. His warmth, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality were unforgettable. He made sure every aspect of our celebration ran smoothly, and it felt like we were being hosted by family. We also want to give a big shoutout to Francis and Boris, who were equally amazing -- attentive, friendly, and professional from start to finish. Every dish was absolutely delicious, served promptly, and beautifully presented. Whether it's a special occasion or a casual dinner, Red Hot Chilli Peppers never disappoints. This place is a solid 4 Stars for me. I can see how this can get to a 5 but since they've only been open for a little over a week, I'll have to say that I'm impressed by their level of service and food. Their food is definitely great and different but not too exotic or foreign. It's Chinese food made really good. I am not sure I follow the Indian twist but I really liked it a lot. The owner came up to our table and was very curious to get our feedback. They made a number of suggestions which I always like when going to a new restaurant, and I liked them all. I live in Foster City, and will love to go back there. Another great place in San Carlos - if you're in the neighborhood, give it a shot. I want to see this place succeed because they seem to care about everything - from the food to the service to other details. Overall, my family and I think this will become one of our favorites in San Carlos. One minor comment - I asked for EXTRA Spicy and my food ended up being not as spicy as I would have liked but I think it's a personal preference. read more

Strolled in for dinner. Seated right away. Restaurant has a nice vibe....great black/red color scheme. Comfortable dining experience. Great chairs. Would recommend adding one or two huge trees/bamboo in dining room to absorb some of the loud accoustics. Food was delicious. Extrememly flavorful. Fresh. Nice presentation. They will alter the spicyness according to your taste. Service was delightful. Owner, Rakesh came by to inquire how everything was. Very gracious! I read some tough reviews, but people......you have to consider....it is difficult when first opening a restaurant. My stance is always to try a place a few times within the first 4 months....and then make a decision! Give a place time to smooth out any hiccups. We didn't have any on our first visit! We were very satisfied. We will defintely be back! Will likely bring more people with us so we can try more menu items. I have a feeling my 4 star review is going to change to a 5 star review. Likely to become one of my wife's favorite spots. read more

We wife and I recently moved to the Bay Area and went out for dinner with a group of friends again recently. We had been there about 5-6 months ago and it was great but I feel like they've done a great job of maintaining quality and consistency. The food is excellent and portions are fine. I feel like I love their take on Chinese food and they have really done a great job pairing spices and food and maintained a good balance of flavors. It is definitely flavor forward but don't we all want that in food? Enough of bland chinese - I think this is the direction food needs to be headed - Flavor flavor flavor! They have a good wine selection and really well priced drinks and beers from different parts of the world. The service was great, and people were very nice and accomodating. 5 Stars for the food, 4.5 stars for the service. We ate and enjoyed again: Chili Prawns, Prawns in Hot Garlic Sauce, Braised beef, Chicken Hakka Noodles and Ginger fried rice. Desserts - Chocolate pyramid and darsan! read more

We had a group of 12 women last night for Happy Hour, our server was Dave. There was some initial confusion over what's on the website for Happy Hour -- they do have a $5 drink menu but on the website it says that if you're buying cocktails you also get several small plates, which Dave was unaware of - I think that management perhaps management posted it without bothering to tell some key people....er..like the STAFF! Anyway, he went to check with the chef, who said he would give us 4 plates. I can't comment on the food, as I'm not into spice, but the group ordered, (and liked) the Fried Corn, Spicy Potato, Chicken Eggroll and then some ordered dinner - Lettuce cups and if you DO like spice, the Chili Garlic Noodles. This review is mostly for the fact that they were able to accommodate our group and stood behind what was listed on the website (even though they didn't know about it!). read more

This restaurant was a big disappointment. I normally like spicy Asian food, but this food was badly executed "one note" instead of the expected symphony of flavors you normally get from good asian food. Both the honey chicken and the chilli chicken were deep fried to a dried out shoe leather consistency. The honey chicken sauce tasted like honey with a few red chillis thrown in. No subtlety or flavor magic here. Just sticky sweet with heat at the end that would come out because you had to spend so long chewing the overcooked meat. The restaurant was quite empty on a weeknight, yet service was slow and uneven. One of our dishes was forgotten. It tried to look hip, but the food was worse than food court caliber. The prices were high given the uninspired and poorly executed food. I'll stick with "real" asian restaurants with way less atmosphere but way better food. read more

This review only applies to the service. Could not reach to the food part (Thanks to the inept staff). I placed a phone order for schezwan rice and hot garlic chicken for pickup and explicitly mentioned it to the receptionist that I would reach within 30 minutes. I was grabbing food on the way back from a long road trip since I did not want to cook after getting back home. I took a detour specially to pickup the order. 30 minutes later when I reach there, I found that the order was never placed. The receptionist agreed that they were the one who took the order and forgot to enter it in the system. They offered to place a new order immediately. I was so furious that I left the restaurant immediately even if I had to survive on instant noodles that night. The receptionist did not even look apologetic. They had one job and they could not do it right. read more

Great food and great service. My first time there and felt very welcomed by the owner himself as he checked on us and spent some brief time with us to thank us for coming and to provide some background information. Food was really good and spicy as my wife and I enjoy spicy food. The manchurian sauce was very tasty and you could taste the freshness of the vegetables used in all of the dishes. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars was because I think the egg rolls were quite oily and the potatoes could have used a bit less oil as well. An additional piece of advice is to make smaller menus, as the current ones are printed on on a large (16x24") piece of paper. Definitely too big to hold when you have that, plus the drink menu, plus the lunch menu to juggle. Would go back for sure and tell others to as well. read more

We went there Saturday evening and was delighted to be treated by a very nice hostess who promptly seated us at a nice booth. The decor is very modern but a red buddha triptych and dark walls and cool lighting. Upon being seated we were greeted by a nice waitress who promptly took our orders and gave us suggestions. The owner stopped by a few minutes after our appetizers arrived to check on the quality of food and service. He took our suggestions and in fact, gave us a complimentary dish to try. We took home some left overs and our friends really enjoyed them a lot the next day. We will definitely be coming back as this is the best Indian Chinese I've had in the Bay Area. read more

I've been here a few times and the food is fine, but after a number of experiences I feel compelled to comment on the service. I am curious about how the servers are trained. They seem insistent on interrupting every meal. They try to clear plates while we are still eating. Are they short of plates and need to wash them? Why can't they wait until we leave? I'm serious, they actually wipe the table with a damp cloth while we are trying to finish our meal. Most recently they literally reached across my companion's plate while she was still trying to eat -- she just gave up at that point. Everyone here is nice but I've never seen this kind of service at any other restaurants. read more

I recently dined at the info-chinese restaurant and was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the food and service. From the moment I walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a fantastic dining experience. The menu offered a wide range of authentic Chinese dishes, all of which were expertly prepared and beautifully presented. I particularly enjoyed the kung pao chicken and the hot and sour soup. We had a party of 9 at the restaurant with some work people. The food was great as usual, and I see that they have changed their beer/wine list a little. They also added some more cocktails like margarita, sangria and mimosa. We only tried sangria which was really tasty but the next time we're there we want to try some of the lychee martini. Anyways, overall the experience was very good and the chilli garlic noodles were excellent. In fact, even the servers and service was very good. I would love to see this place succeed because all of us love it. I have not tried lobster yet but would like to try it sometime when I visit next. read more
