I have to give it up for Red Lobster. Even with the difficulties of working with the conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, they still make dining here pleasant. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. She reminded me of that really cool grandma thinks you are too skinny when you walk through the door and makes it her mission for you to leave satisfied. All while wearing a mask and handling tables spaced far apart for social distancing purposes. The food was still high quality. I had a very good piece of salmon and my wife had a plate full of popcorn shrimp. My salmon and broccoli had me so full I had to save my baked potato for lunch the next day. Even cooked in the oven it was still excellent. Two meals for the price of one! This meal was excellent, and even though you can't see the Waite staff smile, their efforts cannot go unnoticed. Endless Shrimp Exclusive Sneak Peak, August 30-September 1! This was a last minute visit to take advantage of this My Red Lobster Rewards members only preview of the upcoming classic Endless Shrimp season (which is open to all--not just MRLR members--starting September 2) and it was oh, so worth it! For $15.99 you pick any two from a list of five choices, including Sriracha Honey Shrimp, hand breaded shrimp, Shrimp Linguini Alfredo, Teriyaki Grilled Shrimp, and Shrimp Scampi, which all come with a salad and your choice of a side. After that, you have the option to try any of the other dishes (or get the same one again, as I did lol) on the list one at a time endlessly, for no extra charge. The Sriracha Honey Shrimp was delicious. Cooked to crispy golden brown perfection, it is coated in sriracha seasoning (not sure if it is mixed in with the batter or actually brushed over the outside) and then drizzled with honey. That is a wonderful combination because, as spicy as sriracha is, you need the honey to add some sweetness and relief from the heat. There was a nice amount of honey pooled on the plate to drag the shrimp through for extra flavor and coating. My dad and I both had Shrimp Scampi and we agreed that it was delicious. The shrimp were perfectly cooked in a butter sauce and there was just the right amount of garlic in it. My dad had the Teriyaki Grilled Shrimp as his second dish and he said it was delicious as well. The shrimp came on a skewer and it looked like they were cooked well and coated with a perfect amount of teriyaki sauce. The broccoli that we both had as our side redeemed the last visit's charred edges and limp florets. This broccoli was steamed perfectly and had a very tasty flavor with just enough crunch. As usual, the Cheddar Bay Biscuits were to die for! We agreed that it almost makes more sense to forgo lunch and just order a double order of those--or forget the biscuits and just get the endless shrimp. :-D Either way, this is a win-win deal. Our server was Jessica, and she was amazing. She came to our table promptly to take our drink orders, and gave us all the time we needed to make a decision. She came back several times (although once or twice it took some time--the only reason for less than 5 stars) to check on us and answered our questions well. We did not feel rushed at all, which was good because, as we ate at somewhat different paces and got different dishes, it took a while to finish. This is one of my favorite times of the year at Red Lobster and I cannot wait to come back again during the actual Endless Shrimp event and devour more of the Sriracha Honey Shrimp, or try the Teriyaki Grilled Shrimp or Shrimp Linguini Alfredo! I hadn't been to Red Lobster in a long time. As a family we used to go there all the time. I recently saw an Endless Shrimp ad and wanted to go check it out. Today I was reminded why I don't go there very often. We didn't have a wait and was seated immediately which was nice. Our waiter took our drink orders. I ordered the Triple Berry Sangria, my husband a Diet Coke and we both asked for waters. Next we placed our food orders. I tried to order the new Caprese salad with tomatoes and mozzarella and guess what? They were out of tomatoes. I tried to order broccoli, guess again they were out of that too. Our server then said "well if you were thinking of having a Bud...we are out of that too!" Lol I ordered the Endless shrimp which is why I went in the first place. I also ordered a salad and had forgotten that quick that they were out of tomatoes so when my salad arrived with just lettuce, cheese and onion I was a bit disappointed and requested something else. At first they tried to up charge me for asparagus and I reminded them that they were out of everything! The shrimp scampi and cheddar biscuits are still my favorite! I am impressed by this Red Lobster. I have been here a few times. My most recent visit was a few days ago. Why am I impressed? The service is on-point. Even so on a very busy Saturday two weeks before Christmas (located near a mall). Our bartender and server were really on top of things, and they were very pleasant (I don't know how because that place was slammed with people and crying kids). The staff even got together to sing someone happy birthday. We ordered two entrees off the 'catch of the day' menu. Really we only needed to order one. Portion size was on the large size. I ordered the king crab legs. Whoa! Like this crab was a giant! I think the biggest legs I have ever seen. It was perfectly prepared and I barely used any butter because it was so sweet and juicy! Sides were all yummy as well - mashed potatoes and green beans. And who doesn't go to Red Lobster for the cheddar bay biscuits? I know I do. We had two baskets and they would keep them coming if you ask. Don't underestimate the adult beverages here either, especially the frozen ones. Heavy pours and delicious. One additional thing I love and hate about Red Lobster - the menu notes the calories (even on drinks). So you know exactly how much self-loathing you need after you are done with your meal. We came for My fiancés birthday which fell on Mother's Day this year red lobster was packed beyond belief. The wait we were told was 40 to 45 minutes but there were many people ahead of us so we grabbed out timer and waited after the alloyed time passed we got our table. Our server was Jose he was one of the most attentive and privacy giving waiter I ever had almost like a refill ninja one second I was low the next he had swung by and refilled the table he deff made the wait worth it along with the speed of food and quality for a chain restaurant it didn't even feel like one just amazing. Then it took another forever to get our check. lobster mashed potatoes "upcharge" lobster bisque instead of salad "upcharge" which we have gladly paid for in the past! Endless Shrimp is more like Endless Wait. We arrived well before dinner rush and were immediately seated. Our food arrived before the biscuits ever made it to the table. The one who ordered Endless Shrimp would order two more varieties of shrimp when asked by the server, who would arrive 7-10 minutes later with a single serving dish of 5 shrimp. Would order the same two again, 7-10 minutes later, rinse, lather, repeat. My shrimp skewer was overcooked, but the scallop skewer was delicious. I'll start by saying that I normally avoid chain restaurants..... But a Christmas Gift card is a Christmas Gift card. The Red Lobster in Castleton does hold some sentimental reverence for me. Growing up as a kid in Fishers in the late 70s & 80s, Red Lobster was considered quite the treat at the time as any sort of "finer dining" was scarce back in the day. Having said that, it's probably been 30 years since my last visit. While the Northeast corridor has grown and changed, and our choices have exponentially multiplied..... Red Lobster remains the same! While I'm sure they have remodeled the building several times over the past 3 decades...the dark and dingy decor is just how I remembered it. We were there at lunch time and were not looking to gorge ourselves with the dinner time combination platters....we ordered from the lunch menu. I was surprised that they really had no lunch specials to speak of but the normal lunch items were reasonably priced. I ordered the shrimp tacos with a side salad and rice pilaf. (Fish tacos are one of my favorite snacks so I thought this might be a good choice). The salad was ok, one step above a bagged salad with good croutons. The rice pilaf was dry and bland and the shrimp tacos completely missed the mark. The small salad shrimp were over cooked and chewy and were served over basically the same green mix that comprised my side salad. The sauce for the tacos was pretty good but there was so little of it that it couldn't save the dish. On the plus side: The cheddar biscuits were as fabulous as ever... full of buttery, garlicky, cheddary goodness!!! They saved at least one additional star on this review. Our server was very nice and attentive. (Maybe too attentive) The crowd was older (50s & 60s) thought for a moment I was at an MCL cafeteria. On the whole, Red Lobster serves as a reminder to me as to why I try to patronize locally owned and operated establishments. As I browsed the menu the prices of their dinner items are competing with local restaurants that I know are much better so the value aspect is also a fail for this chain. The seafood was cooked well and nicely seasoned. The cons: the place needs a good cleaning. The space is old and it smells musty. The food took forever. Red Lobster is really going down hill. The quality of the seafood for the price is just not there anymore! To much fried options and not enough grilled or baked options. There limited menu is also killing them! You never see them advertise on TV anyone with specials. They need to get a better supplier of seafood for starter and get rid of the limited menu. The biscuits still steal the show. I like that the menu has been revived while keeping most of their classic offerings. This particular location is pretty par for the course as far as Red Lobster restaurants go. The service is hit or miss; most of the time it's fine. On my most recent visit, our server had to look at the menu in order to write down two of the items we ordered which I thought was strange. Once our food came out, the entrees were given without having ever received our salads. This was rectified by offering a split dessert instead. I mean, who wants to wait for an appetizer salad after your main course is right in front of you? 3 stars for Red Lobster. You know what to expect and they deliver on that.
