I had the New England Lobster Kettle. The sauce and overall flavor was extremely salty. The potatoes were mushy. The pieces of sausage were paper thin...the corn was over cooked and salty as well. It might not be as authentic as other specialty seafood restaurants, but the quality is pretty consistent. The menu and specials are always changing, which is good. The best tip I can give is this. If you are eating in the dining room, request Kelly or Tammy. If you are eating in the bar area, request Cassandra. Some of the servers are kind of poor, but those three are the cream of the crop. My husband and I chose this restaurant for a date night. We LOVED our waitress! She truly made the experience great! She was prompt with everything from the butter garlic rolls to making sure our drinks were refilled before we even asked! We started out our meal with the seafood sampler, and it was fantastic! It included shrimp cocktail, seafood stuffed mushrooms smothered in cheese and garlic butter sauce, and coconut shrimp served with a sweet pina colada sauce. My husband ordered the ultimate feast, and it was definitely huge!! I ordered the pick 3 dinner. I chose coconut shrimp, shrimp scampi, and fried flounder. I was a little disappointed that the mashed potatoes weren't as good as they used to be, and the serving seemed to be a little on the small side, but other than that, everything was great! Our dinners also came with salad, and those were fresh, crisp, and came with plenty of dressing. We truly enjoyed our meal at this location, and we will be returning! Red lobsters is the poor fat slobs answer to fancy food. Anyone who has ever had real good food knows Red Lobster is absolute crap, but still (probably due to lack of any other decent restaurants in the area) people go there. I think It may be because Red Lobster tries to give the impression that they are a legitimately fancy place and people seem to be easily fooled by aesthetic trickery. Red Lobster is better than Joe's Crap Shack and Burger King but Applebees may even have more flavor than this lobster house. read more

My fiancé and I don't typically go out to eat but we do for special occasions and this time we chose red lobster. We have been here before and we typically like the food that was no surprise but the atmosphere and staff are usually no different than any other chain restaurant. This time was different. We had a wonderful waitress named Katie who made dinner fun. It felt like hanging out with a friend who happened to bring us the food and drinks. Let me start off by saying we ended up at this location because we were absolutely ignored at the Munster location 30 minutes prior. All I can say is omg what a difference location makes. Considering the place we just left, were watching the clock the minute we walked in. We were greeted by our server within a minute, had drinks at our table in less than 5 minutes, and orders were taken and salads were served in less than 15 minutes. They were so fast I hadn't even finished my salad by the time my entree came. The food was all delicious and 3 of 4 ordered the endless shrimp, which was brought out very quickly each and every time. I can't remember our servers name but she was friendly, fast and earned every penny of the 25% tip she was given also I'd like to point out we noticed the manager of this location out there helping the staff, serving food, bringing drinks, doing what was necessary to keep customers happy, unlike the one in Munster who just stared at us and did NOTHING!! I highly recommend this location, and thank you for taking what could have been a ruined evening out and made it absolutely fantastic! read more

Service actually was really impersonal and seemed like she was annoyed, like she had better things to do. Whatever, she brought food and drinks. Soup was okay, needed some more seasoning and it was easily fixed. What really made me angry was the fact that I paid for a pound of crab meat, just for more than half of it to be over cooked. I'm not talking about maybe like a minute over done. The meat inside the shell was flat out crunchy and most of it didn't even come out. Didn't say anything to the waitress...just watched her take my crunchy crab meat filled shells off to the dish room. read more

Will not be back. We went during crab fest and the king crab I ordered for $30 was still frozen in the knuckles. It was on the "fresh seafood special menu" but yet frozen. My baked potato was not brought out with my meal and when I reminded our waitress she brought it right out but it was just lukewarm. I am used to eating crab in Florida and it is so good, I didn't expect crab in Indiana to be as good but I did not expect this. On July 17, 2017, we stopped at the Merrillville, Indiana, Red Lobster to celebrate my sons' birthday. My son, whose birthday we were celebrating, is in a wheelchair. As we were unloading my son, my wife entered the restaurant to talk to the staff advising them of our son's special needs. The Red Lobster staff advised they were more then happy to fulfill our needs. The staff not only gave us special seating they provided outstanding service. Our server "Colby" (phonetic) went beyond our expectations by even singing Happy Birthday to our son. This made a great birthday even better. Wife & I went for Anniversary Dinner. Have had good experiences with the chain before, but the cook here needed lessons bad! Both ordered surf & turf. I ordered med-rare & got what I expected. Wife ordered medium & hers came with ZERO pink or red in the middle. I would have considered it well. Then the salt/seasoning, TOO MUCH!!!! We both drank 2 glasses of water with our meal and still were thirsty by the time we got home. The steak, mashed potatoes, & seafood stuffing on the lobster tail were overwhelming. I will return to Red Lobster, but not this one in Merrillville. The service was good though read more

My boyfriend and I just had the most rude, unprofessional, messed up experience at Red Lobster. When we asked if we could share the endless shrimp our waitress told us that was fine. As soon as we got our food the manager (an older woman) came out and rudely said "No sharing." We continued to eat our food but got rude looks from the manager so my boyfriend didn't want to eat it any longer. He was afraid he would get our waitress in trouble. So he stops eating completely and still the manager comes to our table and says we cannot share and that the menu strictly said "per person." I told her that we were not aware of that and were told that we could share it. She continued to be extremely rude. By now we were ready to leave so my boyfriend tries to ask for a box. Our waitress is now ignoring us and purposely not coming over. She eventually does and we ask for a box. She goes to get one but when she comes back she is empty handed. She tells us that her manager is not allowing her to bring us a box. At this point we paid our check and left without hardly touching our food. The manager cleared her way of us as we left so as to not be confronted. We avoided making a scene but I really do hope this woman is fired. She was unbelievably rude to us for no reason and also refused to give us a box for food that we had already purchased. I've never had an experience this bad at a restaurant. read more

I was seated right next to the kitchen and it was extremely quiet and the most calm restaurant ive ever encountered. the food was cooked pefrectly and was served quickly and hot. Even the manager walked past with a smile and greeted us politely. I believe our server was named Leah... she was wonderful.
