I'm a regular at my hometown RL and while working at the Lab, had an urge for one or the advertised Lobster/Shrimp meals... my usual is Rainbow trout platters w/shrimp and am always satisfied with the meal and service. Drove down tonight (Friday) to a full parking lot but no waiting line... still, decided to eat in the bar and watch some soccer. Waitress was very courteous and timely throughout the meal. Started with a Sam Adams and those awesome cheddar garlic biscuits. Ordered the Lobster Overboard with clam chowder instead of salad, which was very hot and delicious as normal. The lobsters are mini in size and split then broiled with seasoning and I asked to have fried shrimp in place of the broiled ones. The platter includes seasoned potato wedges and a good sized ear of seasoned corn and two small broiled kielbasa links. Definitely sounds delicious. The meal was delivered quickly just as I was finishing the chowder. Everything seemed hot, fresh from the grill, however the lobsters were over cooked to the point that I couldn't pull the meat from the shell. It just shredded with the fork. Ended up having to cut and pry it out with the butter knife. Very difficult and messy. Ended up chewing them out like crab legs.. great seasoning, but over cooked... the fried shrimp was a bit over cooked as well. There's a fine line between correctly cooked and over cooked with shellfish, and in both cases, I would say about 2 mins too long. The corn was a little tough, but seasoned well, the baked seasoned potato wedges were dry and the larger ones hard in the middle. The sausage did not look fresh, as it was severely wrinkled like yesterday's links... still, good flavor, but probably from the seasoning sprinkled over everything as it left the kitchen. Honestly, I'll still keep going back for my regular fix of trout, but probably won't spend $45 w/tip for this entre' again. 2.5 stars for the food, 4.5 for service.... now I'm hungry again... ! read more

For us as locals it's one of the fairs places where to eat in Santa Fe. I would recommend you to ask to hold the salt for the plates and surely say to the server that if a plate is not correct it will be send back to the kitchen. Stopped in for some fish and chips today. Very disappointed. I got one piece of fish and the remains of a bag of fries. Presentation was pitiful. Burned my fingers on the scorching hot plate! Why is it scorching hot? They topped it with a miniscule wedge of dried out lemon and the malt vinegar had no shaker top on it. It would just pour out. The food was good. However there is a need for more training of the staff. I had the lobster but had to send it back so that they could split the tail. When it came back the claws were cracked but the knuckles were not and it took serious poking to get the meat out. Then there was a problem with a accidentally spilled butter dish. Very poor customer service. We had to wait about 20min to get seated because one of their sections were closed. After our food was served we had to keep reminding our waiter to bring us silverware, salad(which was supposed to be brought to us before our meals), and refills. Our waiter rarely came to check on us after the food was served. Also, the food was very dry and flavorless. It seems like the food had been ready and was just sitting in the kitchen. Came for sons 13th birthday, he likes seafood. Waiter was one of the worst yet. Did not bring silver wear even though asked multiple times I had to get myself from another table. He brought biscuits after about 10 minutes and when we asked for more, never brought them so asked a second time, it took 20 minutes to get them. We eat here all the time the food and service are consistent and very good. The environment is clean and the staff pleasant. In general chain restaurants in Santa Fe are plagued by poor management and unhappy or lazy/rude workers as result they fall below the standards of the brand and many times end up closing. Red Lobster must have gotten lucky and found great management (my guess is they brought in a management from outside of Santa Fe) as they have avoided this fate for over 20 years. Went in for lunch while getting car fixed. Got there upon opening. We waited 25 mins just for drinks. Then waited almost an hour before we got our food. The food was ok but seemed like the main seasoning was butter because everything even the rice pilaf was floating in butter. Two visits, last month, and this. Coconut shrimp, first time. Way too sweet, cloyingly so. Coconut, to RL, must mean sweetened coconut--as for baking. Not so great for shrimp. "Fish and chips" in January. Waitress says, 'We didn't have french fries yesterday, I'll have to go check to see if our truck got here today." To me, this translates as, "We don't actually do french fries here, we get them frozen, by truck, and heat them up; they're at least a day old when we get them." Which is just what they tasted like. How badly can you ruin a potato? RL sure knows how. Fish was tasteless, and so nicely tender (I suspect underdone) it cannot be picked up by hand--it falls apart in your hand, leaving your hand coated in oil. You have the choice of eating your fish hot, and the french fries cold, or the other way round. Tartar sauce? Meh. Slaw? Meh. I reckon two tries is enough. read more

I only go to Red Lobster when they have the endless shrimp. The cheese bread is the best part though! The endless shrimp was very good. The server kept up on bringing more and was very nice. Good service, good food. We didn't have to wait long for the refills on the shrimp. The new parmesan crusted shrimp was a great choice along with the grilled garlic shrimp. read more

All went well. Sailor's Platters for lunch. The sides were just right too. Unfortunately the first side I asked for, the new sweet potato dish had just run out. We took our daughter and my mom to eat here for their birthday. To be seated was fast but it took about 30 minutes to get asked what drinks we wanted and then another 30 to 40 minutes to get our order taken. We were literally in the restaurant for over 2.5 hours! My mom and I are on vacation in New Mexico right now. Today we stopped in at the local Red Lobster and had some lunch. We're familiar with the chain and enjoy the food. Although the restaurant is under construction, we had a delightful meal and outstanding service. Kyle, our server, went above and beyond to meet our needs and provide an excellent experience. He was extremely kind and friendly, no doubt a reflection of personal integrity and excellent management. Rude greeter/host. Asked for a booth was advised to wait for 20 mins. Not a soul waiting in store. Offered a table took the table host then said she "has to be fair and they were getting busy." Still nobody waiting at the door. Then she walked by and said the customer is not always right. All of this happening when a booth was being cleaned. We sat at the table then she said oh it's ready. Show up and they give me lunch menus then when I request items from there they didn't serve them, so I ordered food they asked what kind of salad I wanted, I ordered and they bring salads to my table, all except mine and they are like "your choice doesn't come with a salad so do you want me add that to the bill?" We had a nice server (Nate)but he wasn't very on top of things, like straws and refills but to top off the lack of service I put a clam strip in my mouth and along with a small disgusting hair( probably a chin hair, I'm hoping). It wasn't until I complained about having to use my teeth to crack open crab legs that I was provided a crab leg cracker and a small extraction fork. I was nearly done with my meal before the waiter asked my meal about my dining experience. Other wait staff passed my table while I used my teeth to open crab legs. A piece of crab leg shell broke off and painfully lodged in my gums during this process. So I strongly recommend that if one does dine at Red Lobster that they forgo consumption of the Crab Legs unless dining tools do it safely without potentially causing discomfort. read more

Went for lunch today and I was really excited to have a nice time. Specifically asked the waitress not to bring our entrée until we let her know we were ready to put the order in because I have recently had surgery and cannot eat very fast. So it takes a while to eat appetizers and salad. Despite asking her this she bought our entrée when we were barely finished the appetizer. As a result, my husband could eat his food and I could not and so my food sat there and got cold because I physically could not eat it. When the waitress came back to ask how we were doing I explained my food was cold because I couldn't eat it and that's why we asked to have a delay. She said nothing, turned and walked away from the table. Two minutes later she came back, threw a plate of food on the table and walked away again, without saying a word. I think she thought that bringing the extra hot food would make up for the fact that she didn't do what we had asked her to do in the first place. I still couldn't eat this food and so that went to waste as well. I left half my food on the table, did not finish my entrée, barely finished my appetizer, and what food I did eat was cold. Had a yen for seafood here it the high desert. Decided to try Red Lobster. Some of the food was well below par especially at the price. The chowder was lukewarm. We asked them to bring us hot replacements. They simply took what the brought first and microwaved it. Lettuce in the salads was limp with signs of spoilage. The lobster portions did not come close to those pictured in the menu. Following the new American practice, they snatched away plates as soon as they were empty. The waiter brought the bill just minutes after the main course saying, "no hurry" but came back ever few minutes to check is we had inserted our credit card. We finally gave up on an quiet uninterrupted conversation, paid our bill and left much sooner than we would have preferred. We'll not go back to Red Lobster or any other national chain. We are in a new age of substandard food is combined wth pressure to eat and get out in a hurry. read more
