I know it's a chain, but not all chain restaurants are the same. I like Red Lobster. There are safe types of food that I like to stick to. I understand that Red Lobster can be on the pricey side (especially if you're used to fresher seafood), but this location did not disappoint. My fiance and I came here on New Years Eve (classy, I know) because we were in the mood for some shrimp. There was a 15 minute wait, but this location had plenty of seating so we weren't stuck standing around outside. This restaurant was also very nicely decorated and looked much more updated than other locations. The service itself was okay. Our server always kept our drinks full (which is all that I really need) and was friendly. In my opinion, Walt's Favorite Shrimp is always the safest bet at Red Lobster - which is why I always order it! The cheddar biscuits never disappoint either. I had never before been to a Red Lobster, and I am not sure that I will be back. Mostly because of the service. My boyfriend and I were on this side of town and starving last night, so we decided to stop in and try it since neither of us had eaten here before and the place we had set out to go to was closed. We walked in and had to stand in the entrance way for some time while four employees standing at the bar stared at us, not wanting to be the ones to acknowledge us and thus, I assume, take responsibility for seating us. Finally a girl comes over and takes us past tables with cleaning supplies out and seats us. Oh, I almost forgot! We are in an hour and fifteen minutes before they are supposed to close. Then we wait. And wait. And then someone comes over for our drink order and we both get iced tea. When she brings the drinks she asks if we were ready to order and we asked for a few more minutes. We should have ordered dinner then. So after a while if waiting (with my empty iced tea glass) she comes back, fills my iced tea and takes our order. We got the sweet chili shrimp as an appetizer and I ordered fish and chips with a salad and bf ordered crab linguinie with a cup of soup. Our biscuits came out and let me just say, those were the best thing that hit the table. They were so yummy! Then we waited, with my tea glass empty again. After 5 to 10 minutes with an empty glass I found the iced tea pitcher behind me and grabbed it to refill myself and my date. The waitress sees this and takes it away. All I could think was "No, don't take it! Now I will never get a refill!" But that seemed to be her wake up call. The first twenty minutes we were there or so, my glass stayed empty longer than it stayed full, and after she caught me refilling my own tea, she made more of an effort to come by and check on us. Our appetizer and soup and salad came out, and they were pretty good. I am a fierce, fierce judge of ranch dressing, and the dressing on my salad was peppery, there were fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, cabbage and more than three croutons on it (I hate when places only give you a few croutons.) The lobster bisque was delightful, though I have nothing to compare it to and the shrimps were sweet and spicy and cooked very well. Dinner came out, and while I was expecting more "eat with your fingers" type of fish, this came out as a huge filet. I would have preferred smaller, more manageable pieces of fish. My fish was a little over cooked and dry, but overall pretty tasty. My boyfriend seemed pretty happy with his crab pasta, it did have a good amount of crab in it. (I can't eat crab after a fateful night when I was nine and ate WAY too much crab, so I didn't try it). The entire time, though, employees were draped around the bar on their cell phones and cleaning up tables and floors. We definitely felt rushed and like we were an inconvenience to the staff there. While my iced tea was empty, I made eye contact with many employees, and while some would stare, others would look away, but no one came by to ask if we needed anything. So, I don't think I will be back. This was a pretty lackluster experience. read more

On this visit to Red Lobster, our second within eight days, we ordered the Lobster Lover's Dream®--A succulent rock lobster tail and sweet split Maine lobster tail, roasted and served with shrimp, lobster and langostino linguini Alfredo. 29.99, because our last visit was so pleasant and the lobster before was really quite good, as was every thing else. On this occasion, however, there was a thick, black, eleven-inch hair served in the linguini. If the waitress had bothered to look carefully, she couldn't have missed it. *black agains white noodles and lobster chunks and shrimp*. I just don't trust Red Lobster any more. Instead of immediately comping the meal and removing the plate for good, the manager asked what we wanted to do, thereby mitigating her problem, as we should not have been put under pressure to request a comp. It should have been offered immediately. To make things worse, the staff was aware this kind of thing has happened before. This is disgusting, unsanitary. It's like playing Russian Roulette: great meals most of the time but you might get the bullet in the sixth chamber of the gun. No thank you! No more Red Lobster for a good long time. read more

Can you give no stars? Without reservation, hands-down, no doubt about it, the WORST restaurant I have ever eaten in. I only went because my elderly former neighbor has no taste buds and wanted to go there for dinner while I was visiting from out of town. Where do I begin? The utensils were taped inside a paper napkin (classy, eh?) and of course they were dirty. I requested clean replacements and the waitress forgot until I reminded her when the food came. The second wrapped set also contained dirty utensils, which I took to the rest room and cleaned. I'm serious. The salad had so much vinaigrette in it that the lettuce looked like seaweed. I literally poured the dressing out on to the bread plate. None of the vegetables in this salad looked fresh in any way and could have very well been out of date. The complimentary bread was not bad, it was a cheesy biscuit, no doubt frozen but at least warm and flavorful. Anyway, my neighbor got some hideous looking catfish dish (it really looked like the bottom feeder it is) and I got coconut shrimp, which consisted of 8 medium sized dark brown shrimp (they obviously were using dirty oil that was itself burnt, on a large white platter that made the shrimp look minuscule, alongside with these tater tot things that literally bounced back when I tried to pierce them with my fork; they were raw inside and semi-frozen still. If all this wasn't bad enough, even the ice tea was so sour that my taste bud-less neighbor wouldn't drink it. I have no idea how there could be any positive reviews of this place. My meal was so bad I felt like calling the Health department to shut it down. Simply awful. read more

I haven't been to a Red Lobster in years. I rarely go to chain restaurants and went only because some out of town relatives wanted to go. I had the lobster and it was pretty good! My husband had the fish and chips and he said it wasn't good. The fish was tough. And why oh why can't these restaurants serve a salad with anything other than iceberg? YUCK. Come on, get some nice greens for gawds sake. I've noticed a lot of restaurants in Arizona (one of the biggest lettuce growing states) serve iceberg lettuce salads. I don't get it. Still just okay. Only came cuz in laws wanted to come and they're paying. for the fresh fish that's on the inside cover of their menu, was gonna get rainbow trout but they only had salmon and tilapia. Got the langostino lobster something over tilapia. I think it was the second to last option on the second part of that menu. Got it with green beans and mushroom and mashed potatoes. Green beans still had a long stem in them....fish was juicy and tender, there was some kind of filling inside/between the pieces. I like lighter foods so if I were to order again I'd get it without that topping sauce. Got a full order to share with my one year old, couldn't finish it all, but couldn't make another meal out of it. Sides were fine, nothing amazing or bad, fish was good aside from the heavy sauce. Service was quite slow despite the restaurant being mostly empty. Not really planning on coming back unless the in laws really want to. read more

As a child in the desert my only real experience with seafood was at this Red Lobster. Since I love seafood they must have done something right. The service: My server was polite and quick, but not overly friendly. Looking around, however, I was amazed at how efficient the whole restaurant was. The place is huge and was packed, but everything went very well. The food: Oil, salt and garlic. These are the flavors of Red Lobster. I ordered the broiled seafood trio and was sorely disappointed. the scallops were tiny, resembling little half melted marshmallows. The shrimp and stuffed sole were salty enough to kill any other flavor. Price: The quality of food doesn't justify the cost. I'm giving this Red Lobster three stars based on nostalgia and decent service, not for food. read more

My husband and I went to this location. Splurged for our anniversary! Ordered the seafood feast,husband had steak and lobster. My lobster was so old it was mushy, fried shrimp was raw in middle, server was inattentive, we had to ask for Salt, husbands steak was cooked Rare not Medium, salad was all spring greens(bitter),... The only thing on my plate that I was pleased with were the scallops! Used to be we would go every time for special occasions and at least once a month. Update 3/4/2013. I wrote a complaint to Red Lobster at their online contact page, same complaint I wrote on here, and same as I did to the Outback Steakhouse on McKellips Rd. in Mesa, AZ a couple of weeks ago (these are the first two times I've gotten the bright idea to do that), and again the manager - or rather the "guest relations" person in this case - quickly responded to me by phone. But the Red Lobster person was the opposite of the Outback Steakhouse man. She apologized profusely and said that she will be sending me a gift card or check (not clear which) about equal to the cost of the order, plus she said that they will insure that their takeout service is improved. I also received a follow up email from her stating the same (The outback Steakhouse man said he'd "look into it" and get back to me. He never did. Add: I did indeed receive a gift certificate for about the cost of the lobster dinner, maybe slightly more. Thumbs up for RL, thumbs down for Outback. read more

My daughter picked up several menu options for a family that fed 4-6 people. When we got home and opened the dishes we were in shock. The amount in each container barely fed 2 people much less 6. The food was good what there was of it. No more ordering takeout at Red Lobster. read more

I grew up with Red Lobster being a go-to restaurant. They went through their phases of deciding to be upscale, casual, and back, but it was always focused. This review is split between commenting on this location and Red Lobster in general. They've lost their focus. I can't tell anymore what type of service they are trying to provide, nor what demographic they are trying to serve. Everything is just profoundly mediocre now. The hostess was neither friendly, nor unfriendly, and the food was quite bleh. All I got was fried shrimp, and with the millions that Darden probably spent on breading R&D, all they had to do was fry them for the correct amount of time. Yet, they were overdone. Our server was friendly, but seemed genuinely terrified of us (or any other guest). At some point in the hiring/training process, you still have to assess whether or not someone has the right personality to be a server, regardless of how trainable they are. The server put out effort; I could tell she was trying, but she wasn't as attentive as she could be. I know it was because she was afraid of interaction. Overall, not terrible...but it could've been a little cleaner, a little friendlier, and in general more on point. There's so much more competition now than when RL was founded, they will not survive unless they step it up. read more

We enjoyed are lobster fest Lunch. The waiter did let us know that they had been out of a few of the veggies due to the rush they had the day before. I really liked that he notified us so we didn't pick a side and get rejected. Very nice gentlemen who helped us. Gave us refill after refill and was friendly to the kiddos as well. First off I want to make this extremely clear, my service was amazing and this reflects nothing on the waiter. He was extremely kind and attentive to our needs so we didn't want to be a "difficult" customer. I mean who does?! But spending almost a $100 here for dinner in celebration of Valentines Day and not being satisfied with it isn't the best feeling either. So I am seeking elsewhere for my complaints. The food aspect was extremely disappointing. Whenever I dine at a Red Lobster it is primarily for the wild caught lobster advertised. You would think this would be their specialty. However at the specific location I feel like it might need to be tweaked a bit. The lobster from the "surf and turf" plate was burnt, way over cooked. And that is literally all I tasted. I would hope someone that works at this specific location can read this for further correction to save someone else's dine in experience here. Tonight we came to Red Lobster after a long day. We arrived an hour before closing so we were seated immediately. Our waitress was great and took our drink orders quickly. I cannot fault her effort throughout the night. The place was slow and we ordered an appetizer sampler. Yummy stuffed mushrooms. I am always a fan of the coconut shrimp! We loved the cheesy bread biscuits, which is really the reason to come here. Unlimited, and they will bring more if you ask. These were delicious. The plain shrimp in the sampler platter were just ok. Nothing to write home about, as I could make this at home. The salads were plain. A basic salad at best, but it was ok. Again, nothing amazing to write home about. But some of the main dishes were really good. The shrimp Alfredo always hits the spot for me and tonight was no exception. Delicious! My husband got the Admiral's Feast(R) and really liked the lobster. It was a generous helping. I will say the mashed potatoes look like a sad waste of a side dish. I had the green beans and they were much better. Again, by this point we ordered more biscuits. The service was good. Food was a mix of "just okay" and "yummy" which is why this place gets 4 starts. I haven't been to Red Lobster in years. I have to say the decor is much nicer than it used to be. We ordered from the shrimp festival menu. The coconut bites shrimp was great. I love popcorn shrimp and coconut shrimp and this was a great combination. The seafood was all pretty well done and the cheddar bay biscuits were great. Unfortunately the salad left something to be desired. There was actually the stalk from a head of lettuce in it. Beyond that I expected something more than the standard lettuce for the base at Red Lobster's price points. The service was fine other than a splashed drink that was taken care of by handing us a stack of napkins for us to clean up. All in all a decent meal but at over $50 plus tip it just didn't wow. read more

I decided to treat my sisters and my nephews wife to lunch hoping for a good experience. Because I live out of state I see my sisters maybe once or twice a year. The service was horrible my sisters did not receive what they asked for and when I brought it the the waitress attention she started to argue. The service was extremely slow. Had it not been because I understand the financial struggle of these waiters and waitresses I would not have left a tip as it was I only left 10%. The meal was a C plus. Saw the price and figured that was fair Waitress didn't give us what we ordered . 2 pieces of salmon and no shrimp scampi ? She did finally get our scampi to us after we had finished our meal . But the kicker was for me the " up charge " for Salmon ? Although the price said $19.95 for the ginger Salmon ! Just below that in smaller print was an " up charge " for Salmon ? WTH ? Put this so called up charge in the price and stop playing stupid games . Pretty sly and dishonest in my book. The extra $3.50 per plate isn't going to break anyone ,it's just the bullshit way they do it ! Even the waitress stated they didn't used to do this . You start by picking your soup salad your entree and dessert comes as well. There are upgrade fees if you choose different than what's allowed but not Much of an up charge. Went to Red Lobster tonight and our family had the Endless Shrimp special and petite main lobster. The scampi was undercooked and mushy and the butter seemed watered down without garlic. Wow! I usually look forward to scampi but I didnt even finish the one due to the off-putting texture and taste. I also had the grilled teriyaki shrimp and I didnt finish that one either because the meat was very soft. No point to ordering more "endless" shrimp if the first werent good. read more

Addition to my last review. Stopped in for the annual "Endless Shrimp". Quality keeps going down. You have to beg for cocktail sauce. Choices have got worse. Shrimp pasta - Shrimp taste bad in it and the sauce on the pasta tastes cheap with little flavor. They did something to the sauce. Hand breaded shrimp is about the same. Scampi is hit and miss. Might be good or might be lacking flavor. The other choices, which they try to force on you instead of the old favorites are so uninviting, I wouldn't even try. Tried to give them one more chance, but they just cant get it together. Found out Red Lobster sold out to another company, which explains the drop in quality and limited menu items. We are done with Red Lobster. Another great Tucson failure. They just don't care. Won't be surprised if they close like every one else does in this city. read more

The new look is great and they had the same great food with a fresh look! We were greeted right away with smiles and sat immediately by the hostess! Our server was great very attentive and service was fast for a Saturday night. My only complaint was the manager!! She walked the restaurant not greeting customers, talking to no one, and a not so friendly look on her face, I mean no smile nothing! Upon taking my child to the restroom she was looking the other direction as was my child and the collided in the walk way. I apologized for my child not paying attention and her response was "it's fine". No apology on her end, no are you ok, nothing! I hadn't been to a Red Lobster in years when I went in for lunch today and - sadly - I probably won't return. First ill say the service was great! The entire staff was so friendly and courteous! But the food was sloooooow. We were trying to get in & out on a lunch break and ended up being there for an hour. And that was just for burgers (no apps, dessert, etc). And what's more, the food was mediocre at best. It tasted like it came out of a bag rather than being fresh. I appreciate the friendliness of the staff but, unfortunately, that doesn't make up for the lackluster food and painfully slow cook times. read more

The husband and I visited this past weekend for an impromptu date night. The restaurant was incredibly clean and the staff was friendly. We were seated immediately. My husband and I both had the endless shrimp and it was superb (my husband fell in love with the Nashville Hot Shrimp!). Everything from the salad and biscuits, to our drinks and desserts was delicious (the wave cake was amazing). I can not say enough good things about our waitress Sara, she was fast, friendly, knowledgeable and beyond courteous. She checked in often enough without being obnoxious and not once did we have to search her out. She was on top of things without being intrusive. Last night I had the honor of going to the Red Lobster and enjoying a steak dinner. I would have opted for the steak and lobster tail but they kind of changed the menu since I was last there. They made it a little more pricier for the steak and lobster tail. Instead I got the next best thing which was the steak and shrimp oscar with lobster meat. It was a very good meal to say the least. The biscuits they give to you before the meal are scrumptious. The salad was cold and fresh. I also got the lava chocolate chip cookie dessert a la mode to go. The service was good and I never have had a bad experience with Red Lobster. They get four out of five stars for mixing up the menu a bit. That caught me off guard and I couldn't let that go. I had to ask our waiter Bradley for water four times before he finally brought it. I asked if the tacos were made with corn tortillas because I have celiac (severe gluten intolerance) and her assured me they were. My salad arrived with croutons even though he was told I was severely service to wheat. Then the tacos came out. They did not look like they were corn. I asked Bradley again. He still said they were corn. I asked him to ask the chef. He told me they were "one third corn" as though that was ok. I could not get it through to him that 1/3 did not matter. If the tortilla has ANY wheat I'll be sick and likely hospitalized. He was visibly upset with me. Needless to say, I don't care to ever return. read more

I try to never go to chain restaurants, but from time to time I have to. I came here Friday for a post graduation meal. I do have to say that I have been to several Red Lobster's and I will have to admit, that I have never had a bad meal at any of them.
