So my entire family ordered take out from here and it's safe to say we will never order it again. I had boneless chicken wings and they actually tasted okay, but were not spicy at all (the menu advertises them as spicy) and had literally no sauce on them. There was no sauce but approximately a teaspoon of Tabasco at the bottom of the container. My mother was starving, and said that her order tasted absolutely horrible. The vegetables appeared to be store bought and frozen, and for one of the first times ever she even threw out the leftovers. I called the restaurant to order a pizza tonight at 5pm - they told me it would take an hour. Then I called at 630p to ask when it would be delivered. They told me it was out for delivery. Then, at 720pm, I called again and a very rude manager named "David" or similar told me he didn't have my order at all. He hung up on me when I told him that I had confirmed the order at 640pm. I've worked down the block from this place since long before it opened but I've never tried it until today. Honestly, I was always curious but deterred by so many negative first-hand accounts. And being already very loyal to both Naked Pizza and, especially, Rocco's, I wasn't all that bothered. But then I came on Yelp and saw so many positive reviews that I had to finally try it for myself. Overall it was pretty good. The sauce was slightly sweet which I like....it's a nice alternative to the very robust Rocco's sauce. I ordered a sausage pizza and the sausage is sliced thin, which I prefer, and is a bit spicy. The crust, however, leaves a lot to be desired. It's dense, dry, and very tough to get through. My teeth and jaw are a bit sore after eating it. Everything else was tasty so I powered through it. I also ordered fries and they were pretty meh. They serve steak fries which generally aren't a favorite of mine. I can imagine them being much better as pizza fries. I was glad to see that they sell pizza by the slice. While I may not like this as much as the other two pizza joints on this block, sometimes variety is good and I will definitely pop in from time to time. read more

Huge portions! Their pasta entrees are generously-sized and even come with a side of salad and garlic bread. They did forget to give us garlic bread once and even though we told the young man at the front on our next visit, he said "It happens" instead of giving us the garlic bread that was missing from our last order. I ordered food to be delivered the ther day, and I was a bit dissappointed with the order this time. My boyfriend's food seemed to be acceptable but my Antipasta salad was really lacking because it was like 98% Iceberg lettuce. What meats/etc. that were there tasted good. I didn't love the chicken cheese steak, but it wasn't due to lack of chicken, it just wasn't what I expected. The chicken was in huge chunks and didn't have much cheese. Maybe I was hoping it would be more like a Phiily Cheese Steak. To sum it up: I like this place and will order again sometime, but that most recent order was a bummer. read more

Do your stomach a favor and eat here. I usually order this for delivery and every time it is so good - I don't know what is in the pizza sauce but it's the best pizza in the area hands down. I've been going though trying their different special pizzas - so far I like the steak & cheese pizza & the chicken bbq. They always hook it up with big portions. Since I started going to Red Tomato I have completely forgotten about the chain pizza joints. I'm originally from the Northern Virginia area and spent a lot of time in McLean as my mother used to owe a florist shop on Elm St. (before Red Tomato opened) Then I went away to Boston for college but now I am back in the area. Thankfully I found Red Tomato because they are reliable, affordable, and so good! So far I have had a variety of their pizzas with different toppings, all good! I have also tried the steak & cheese (with jalapenos), BLT sandwich, and the baked ravioli dish. Each time my meal was satisfying. What I like most is that you can customize the dishes to your liking. Salads are really good too if you don't want to go heavy. I once had an issue with my order but the manager went above and beyond to make sure I was personally taken care of. They care about the customer and that says a lot in my book. HINT: If you go in to get slices but end up wanting 4 or more individual slices and you have a few minutes to spare order your pizza. You'll save $$ and you know its fresh out of the oven. read more

I have only ordered one pie from Red Tomato. I love their Hawaiian. No one seems to make it quite like them. I ventured away from the pies and purchased a calzone, but it was not as good as their Hawaiian pizza. I will definitely go back, but I am sticking to what I know. read more

Although the food here is very good, their attention to detail is lacking. Ordered online for a few people in the office. Simple order = chicken fingers with honey mustard, onion rings, 2 BLTs, one darkly toasted and French Fries. When the order arrived, it was missing the honey mustard and the darkly toasted BLT was barely toasted. Called to tell them the dark toasted BLT was wrong and was told OH WELL. I came here one time and ordering pizza along with a fountain drink and the fountain wasn't even working.The food tastes also very inconsistent that it doesn't even warrant being that high a price depending on the toppings and size it comes in. On a trip to Great Falls National Park recently and we stopped for lunch. Extremely accommodating, helpful people work here. Answered any questions we had. They said all ingredients were fresh and they were right. I have had a bunch of pizza from local pizzerias and national chains. This is one of the best I have had. We got a Chicago style deep dish - a rarity because I don't find it often. It was wonderful! We tried Red Tomato Pizzeria with our kids (6 & 3) last night and were very pleased. A small restaurant with friendly service and fresh ingredients and ample cheese on the baked pasta dishes.
