Hi a non local that needed some Chinese food and veggies during my weeklong trip out west. This was the closest place to my hotel. After reading a few reviews I wasn't sure what to expect. But I was pleasantly surprised! It had a decent selection I would say your basics of beef & broccoli, sweet & sour chicken, fried rice, lo mein, but several types of shrimp, spicy shrimp, salt and pepper, they had mussels, the salmon was nice and also some flounder I believe? Fried pork dumplings, stir fried cabbage, sautéed mushrooms. They also had your typical soups, wonton, egg drop and hot & sour. Normally I don't do soup at buffets but the wontons looked light and tempting. So I actually had 2 bowls of egg drop wonton. They were good. I found the food temperature warm to hot.s and the price was good, with soda it was 21 excluding tip. This place did its job, I had about three plates and the two bowls. That was at 5x here it is 6 hours later and I'm still full. Server was friendly and brought me more soda without asking! Just the way I like it. Recommended for a good buffet. read more

I really don't even know what to say about this place. the one thing that I absolutely loved was their mango pudding. I had several helipings of that. their food wasn't all that. it wasn't anything special, in my opinion. keep in mind, I live in SoCal and frequent the NorCal/Bay Area as well as Las Vegas. so there are a lot of asian food spots that I have had the pleasure of dining at prior to this visit to the red wok buffet. being that this is a buffet, I didn't expect much to be honest. the presentation of the food was rather dismal.. I was expecting more somehow but no. there are plates available but when I looked in different receptacles, there were no bowls for rice or soup. there also were no spoons. hmm. I tried some pretty typical things like orange chicken and their version of beef and broccoli. neither one of 'em was real good. the beef wasn't bad but it was cold. their noodle dishes, ones that I'm pretty sure were supposed to be served hot, were also cold. guests seemed to be seated furthest from the buffet stations. the sushi rolls didn't look terrible but I wasn't brave enough to try any of them. the nigiri sushi items looked old and pushed around. that wasn't appetizing. the staff were friendly but seemed to speak limited English. the restrooms weren't in the best shape and were in need of some TLC. The price was super cheap and well, for what we got even, I feel like my kiddo overpaid for sure. there weren't many items that they could eat. soft foods available were either old or cold. it wasn't my cup of tea at all but whatever...it was lunch before heading to the airport. read more

Decent food, a lot of choices. Not the cleanest. Your same old same old chinese buffet. Room temp food, but good flavor.

You wouldn't expect a good service from a buffet place, would you? But that's exactly what I got. The cashier was friendly (and was super helpful to the guy in front of me who had problem with his check) and the wait staff continuously check on me when they saw my water was almost gone. The food was good; there were sushi, ribs, Mongolian grill, many varieties of chicken, soup, salad and desserts. I like that they have both tables and booths. The booths offer more privacy of me stuffing my face, but the tables make it easier to go in and out. read more

Hey guys came back tonight with my mom and to say it was okay tonight. I really wanted to give this place a 5 again but this time I could not. The place is still its usual clean self and nice and bright. The food tonight was a miss. You know you go to buffet you get a lot of choices so can't list everything I had. Some of the food was cold mainly the chicken dishes but the seafood dishes were nice and hot which is great cause I love seafood! The desert was really tonight nice and moist not dried out like some other places. The server was great I didn't catch her name tho. But overall it wasn't too bad tonight just like I said some of the chicken dishes were cold. But keep up the good work still be coming back tho. read more

I must say I adore this restaurant. The food is fresh, hot, and widely varied. I've been there twice and was able to discover new things each time which is wonderful. Love their bao pork buns, so soft. And nothing I've had was too greasy, as sometimes things like fried rice or lo mein can be. The staff are always polite and diligent, and the price for lunch is around $12 which is insane. Ironically that means it's better to come during the weekday cuz it's packed during the weekend Will go here as often as possible! read more

See my previous review for the overall, but I wanted to add something as a result of my take-out styro by the pound today. $5.99 a pound WITHOUT FISH. $6.99 if you include shrimp or fish. There's a chart on the plexiglass if you want to step it up further and pay by the pound. So there's the background, which leads me to the point..... Even if you get a bunch of normal stuff and include some "kiddie" fried fish nuggets, your per pound price to go jumps to $6.99. So if you're gonna do fish to go, the kiddie fish nuggets are on par price-wise with shrimp, salmon, mussels, clams etc. ... . So choose your to-go strategy accordingly. IMO the kiddie fish nuggets shouldn't be on par with the fancier water dwellers. I don't agree paying for mussel or clam SHELLS by weight, maybe find your way around that. In a small way. read more

I paid just over $18 at this Chinese AYCE buffet. You pay upon entering, and they seat you. The buffet is huge. There is a regular buffet area, along with a dessert area. They have a large selection of Chinese and other Asian foods. They also have a small mix of Mexican and American food. I ate mostly the deep fried head-on shrimp and the char siu pork ribs. The shrimp was crispy on the outside with a nice seasoning that tasted more Cajun than Chinese. The pork ribs were on the thin side, but you could get as much as you wanted. The flavor was perfect. I tried the deep fried crab legs. The flavor was similar to the deep fried shrimp, but it was much more of a chore to eat. I also tried the bao and dumplings. They were also good. The staff is continually roaming the area to fill the trays and to make sure your soda, or water, is filled. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd definitely come back to try other items. read more

A Chinese Buffet, what can your expect? They had the usual Chinese fair, and it was OK. They they fall down IMO is the extras. Watered-down cocktail sauce, watered-down sweet & sour sauce, rolls and no butter (if you ask for butter, they go back to the kitchen and get a cup of liquid butter), leafy lettuce that covers half your plate. I wish they would chop it up a little more, I want a salad, not a wrap. They have ice cream for desert, but it comes in pre-packaged cups. I would prefer a soft serve machine or an ice cream freezer where you scoop your ice cream out of a tub with a scoop. I had a nice server that was quick to remove used plates. read more

Also, the imitation crab salad tasted like cardboard,and the ribs and steak were too tough to chew.The ceilings were covered in lint by the Ac vents, and we eat under there. As I started to eat the food on my plate, that overwhelming feeling of disgust and ick came over me. I couldn't finish the food I got so I walked around looking for something that wasn't disgusting and started to wonder what their health score was. Upon looking it up, I discovered that they were "not participating" in the program, which I didn't even know was an option. However, the last time they participated they scored a "D". They have a section where you pick the ingredients and they'll grill it for you. There's some vegetables, noodles, and some meat. But can someone tell me why any restaurant would leave unfrozen meat out, especially without it being covered?! We left here feeling sick. Probably the best buffet in all of Phoenix. We came in on a Sunday and half the church crowd in the city must have been there. But the food was still hot and plentiful. The food is actually tasty, which can't be said of many buffets. It had been too long since I had been back here. I won't make the mistake again. The spread is wide and arrayed with lots of standard Chinese plates available. The extras, including the grill, and American dishes make it certain you will eat to much. This place is ALWAYS hit or miss. But it's convenient and the employees are typically pretty friendly. I've definitely had bad food and service here... but it's a Chinese buffet- and if judging from that category it's pretty reliably ok. I live close by and have only ever done take out. The prices are reasonable and I typically spend 10-15$ here and get two boxes of food. The food is usually good. Usually. The grilled and seafood items are more expensive per pound so make sure if you do take out you get a few boxes for different prices. There really isn't a great time to go... it can be leftovers in the morning when they open or fresh. Had it both ways. Also been graced with fresh dinner. It's never always fresh at X time. I'd give it a 3 star review because it's definitely not consistent in food or service. But for the price and convenience factor for me- I will continue to patronize. So 4 stars. There's a review below that mentions a health department rating- they are now in good standing and I mostly wanted to write this because of that. They have an A now. I plan on eating here today. It probably won't be the best meal I've ever eaten... but even in this inflated economy I don't really see this difference in price or quality here. It is what it it is. So many things can be said about the typical Chinese American buffet. Someday, someone might put it into a book. This was my first Chinese American buffet I've been to in years! I was so looking forward to going. One of the big perks of this place is that they have unlimited crab legs and shrimp. You still have to peel the shrimp but you can get unlimited shrimp. Definitely a plus for me! That was pretty much the highlight of the place though. The food like so many other buffets was just mediocre. Not a lot of flavor. Lots of people there not using the provided gloves while they serve themselves. It was very crowded on a Sunday so there was just not a lot of room for cleanliness and safety. Would I go back? Went inside and was seated towards the back side as this was Saturday night. Besides our family, I may have seen one other Asian family so I knew this was going to be interesting. For the most part, it really is your typical Asian buffet, with little service and subpar on quality of the food. One thing I had was the sashimi (raw fish), and it was definitely not fresh at all. Visited this place on a road trip with my cousins over the summer and accidentally found an amazing restaurant. Simply put, this was the best value meal I've ever had. $11 for weekday lunches and a surprisingly large selection of quality food. Featuring options such as bbq pork buns, made-to order stir fry, ribs, crab, sushi, and wonton soup. I was expecting terrible quality because the price for the food was unbelievable but most of the food was actually good. I've eaten here a few times and thought it was decent but my last visit will be my last. I arrived for dinner during a busy weekend. Had to pay first and wait to be seated. Finally get called by the hostess, led back to a table in the back which has not been cleaned and was more than a little dirty. She says it will be cleaned and go ahead and enjoy. So I make my first trip to the buffet taking my time, and get back to find my table is still dirty with no bussers in sight. What am I supposed to do ? Sit down at a dirty table with my food and ignore the filthiness ? Or stand up and begin eating until they get time to clean the table ? I did neither. I usually don't do reviews but this place to eat at "RED WOK BUFFET " earned this review with a generous one When they run out of food and inquired if they will replenish the food thru an interpreter , the generic answer was will be put out in a little while. The food never was brought out after close to one hour wait . Don't tell me in a public restaurant you run out of food in a buffet when that is the design and principle of all you can eat place and can't provide.
