The ambiance alone is worth the reservation. Redbird is tucked inside the former rectory of the historic Vibiana cathedral, it's one of the most beautiful restaurant spaces I've been to in LA. Between the courtyard, candlelight, lush greenery, and beautiful architecture, the whole place invites you to just slow down and really enjoy the company you're with. Chef Neal Fraser knew what he was doing. We ordered the Everything Parker Rolls, Kombu-Cured Hamachi (truly so flavorful), Black Cod, and the Lemongrass Ribs (super yum!!). Everything was amazing. Everything. The Parker Rolls with the date butter and the Black Cod were both so lovely. If it's your first visit and you have tastebuds, I'd definitely order both. The service matched the atmosphere perfectly. Everyone was warm and attentive. Valet was also very nice in DTLA. A special place for a special night with a special person.
Came to Redbird over the weekend as we were celebrating a birthday. First impressions walking in, the staff was super friendly and I really liked how the bar was both inside and outside. Highly recommend paying for valet, as street parking is tough to find on the weekends. As for the food let's get into it: - Kombucha-Cured Hamachi (8/10) It's hard to mess up on a crudo, but this was a great start to the meal. - Garganelli (8.5/10) Pasta was cooked perfectly, had a nice kick/spice to it. Could easily eat two bowls of this. - Steak and Frites (8.5/10) Steak was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was delicious. Slightly pricey but I get it. Overall, I'd say it was a great dining experience as the service is the real reason for the 5 stars. Place might be a little pricey, but worth try once at least. Would I go again? Yes!
Came here for brunch and the pancakes and burger were delicious! Service was great and even my dog had a good time. Good vibes! loved that they Valet.
Los Angeles RoadTrip Episode 5 Spinning like a girl in a brand new dress.. We have this big wide city all to ourselves.. We blocked the noise with the sound of "I need you".. And right there where we stood was holy ground.. Sitting, on holy ground (Frmr. Cathedral Bldg.), at the "Redbird".. We drank cold glasses of luscious Chardonnay... The Lass ate a "Grilled Branzino" perfectly cooked..but, somewhat sad, that the sauce the maitre d kindly poured on the Fish, softened the crisp skin. (in the old days, you would be flogged for that..:). All in all it was enjoyable. The Lad, ate a Wagyu Burger, that was superbly seasoned and cooked.."Rare-Med.-Rare" juicy deliciousness, This Burger was the most unctuous burger ever tackled in these Americas..:) Then dropping out of the sky on to our table (by friends) was a plate of "Caramelised Banana French Toast"...Yes, nicely sweet, just missing whip cream (it's 5'O'clock somewhere..:) A very pleasant relaxing restaurant with great grub too.. Took my friends here who were visiting from out of town brunch. This wedding that weekend and hotel was right next to them. So was it a perfect option. We ordered the cod sandwich, congee, Lobster roll, and braised beef with a side of biscuits. Everyone enjoyed their food. Except maybe my friend who ordered the lobster roll. She felt it was really soggy lobster so she felt it might've been canned? My lobster was a good size and crispy The restaurant itself is beautiful, it was a nice day outside and it was Sunny. I love the decor, it gives off a natural airy feel. The service was standard. I feel like the was nothing wrong but nothing outstanding
Went to Redbird in downtown LA for the first time with a party of seven and really enjoyed brunch. The ambiance is amazing--it's a beautiful restaurant and a great setting for a special meal. We tried quite a few things including the biscuits, shrimp and grits, biscuits and gravy, the crispy potatoes appetizer, and pancakes. Everything was really good, and the biscuits were especially a standout. The only small hiccup was that my son wasn't a fan of their take on the biscuits and gravy--he said it tasted more like a chili than what he expected. But the staff handled it perfectly. They were extremely helpful and friendly and immediately replaced it with something else that he enjoyed. Overall, it was a really nice experience with great food, a beautiful atmosphere, and excellent service. While everything was good, the menu didn't quite pull us back for another visit, but it was definitely worth trying.
Oh dear Redbird. My expectation for this restaurant was pretty high as I heard great things. I've been trying to try Redbird since Father's Day 2025. Just a back story on that, I made a reservation for June 15 2025, I received an email from the floor manager telling me all reservations have been canceled due to an event. Mind you, I get this email on June 13th. I was annoyed because I had to scramble and find a restaurant that had availability. I'm sure they knew of this event a while ago. So that was annoying. In September of 2025, I reached out to the floor manager, Ani, and tried to make a reservation for September 14th. She informed me that they will be closed for an event. So I reached out to Ani one last time to get a reservation for my anniversary on April 21st. We finally got in! So with all of the back and forth with Ani, I kind of expected them to go above and beyond. But unfortunately, I felt we were treated not so great. When we arrived, we waited a good 10 mins until the hostess greeted us. The time we were there, no one acknowledged our presence. When she finally came, she did apologized and walked us over to a big table in the farthest corner in the restaurant. Now mind you, it was only 3 of us, and they tried to sit us at a table that can seat 6, in a corner. No no, I'm not sitting there. I've literally been trying to come here for the past 9months and it's my anniversary. So I asked to be sat at a smaller table in the middle of the restaurant. Now, I'm familiar on how the seating works as it really comes down to the amount of servers you have and the amount of tables are within their section. But again, the manager Ani, was fully aware of my reservation and I felt that she should've provided better hospitality for us. So, once we were seated, we waited awhile for our waiter. When he finally showed up, we placed our order. We had drinks, appetizers, and our main meal. The menu is on the smaller side, so I expected the food to be overly delicious. But it was just ok. It was good, but not mind blowing. After dinner, I asked the waiter if I can speak with Ani. She came and I reminded her who I was and the back and forth emails we've had since July 2025. She knew right away. I told her I was a bit disappointed that the hostess was trying to sit us in the far corner. All she said was "oh sorry about that". That was it, no complementary dessert, or anything. Like wow! We've been treated so much better at other restaurants. It was real disappointing. I would not recommend this spot nor would I come back. I suggest the managers do more hospitality trainings.
We tried the Dine LA menu last night with a couple of friends. The food was tasty and well presented. Loved the friendly staff, but they were very busy. Take one star away for the super-sweet summer dessert, and we couldn't stay longer because of the next reservation.
The ambiance is fantastic: sexy lighting, warm and cozy, relaxing and spacious. We were there celebrating a friend's birthday since it's a beautiful place. The staff was also very friendly. They could have checked in on us a little more, but overall very attentive. That being said, the food, while gorgeously presented, was slightly underwhelming, especially compared to the first time I went; textures and salt levels falling short of ideal. I'm not sure if I was turned off by the price to portion ratio as well. Cocktails are great and there's a nice wine selection. I'd love to stop by again for just a drink at the bar, great vibe to drink and chat. Nice that they have valet, not too pricey.
Absolutely amazing dinner! Everything was delicious. We were thrilled with the complimentary Brazilian cheesy rolls. One person in our group is vegetarian, and there were plenty of options for her on the menu. I ordered the clam pasta, which is one of my favorite dishes but can be very hit-or-miss depending on the clams. These clams were cooked perfectly with not even a speck of grit remaining in them, and the guanciale was the perfect addition for a nice burst of extra flavor. This was a delicious and memorable dinner, and I would certainly come back if I'm ever in LA again.
I love a good Brunch spot... Tried RedBar with my sisters and between the ambiance, quality ingredients and taste, we were happy campers! [ ] Pear Salad: fresh with creamy goat cheese (noms) slightly spicy from black pepper and arugula, it's sooo good [ ] Basque Baked Eggs: spice-heavy though balanced. If you're nervous of spicy dishes, you'll enjoy the rich flavors without a sight of overwhelm [ ] Biscuits: decent, though not fresh (dined at end of brunch, so I get it) [ ] Blueberry Ricotta Pancake: simply decadent. A pancake lover's rejoice. Moist and buttery! [ ] Cod Sanwich: lemon & dill - cod was juicy with a tasty tempura finish, married by the garlic aoli.
Another lovely brunch experience with our good friend and her beautiful toddler daughter, with an expanding palate. Redbird is an incredibly beautiful space to dine. I'd been here years prior for an event, but hadn't yet visited the restaurant. The pictures don't live up to experiencing the main dining space in person. Beautifully bright and open, with distinct color selections for the furniture and decor - simple, yet thoughtful. I knew the food was exceptional and it truly exceeded expectations. Cocktails we tried: Modern Mimosa Good Morning Vietnam 5 Easy Pieces - our favorite. Very light, flavorful, and refreshing. Food Selections: Pear Salad Ricotta Blueberry Pancakes Frittata Tempura Cod Sandwich Shrimp and Grits Basque Baked Eggs Buttermilk Biscuits Applewood Smoked Bacon Too much food on purpose because we wanted to try a little of everything and were happy to send the leftovers home to our friend's husband. Everything was very good. Standouts, however, were the Ricotta Blueberry Pancakes, Frittata, and the Tempura Cod Sandwich. I'm not a huge pancake fan, but these were like no other! Baby girl tore through the Frittatta lol. And the cod was cooked to perfection on the sandwich and paired with an amazing sauce. So good. The staff were extremely accommodating. Our reservation was shortly before they begin their transition to dinner and they allowed us to stay a while and catch up as they transitioned. Very kind. We will most definitely return for dinner and I'd love to dine in their lounge space soon as well. We had a wonderful time here.
Delicious pre theater dining. There's something for everyone, from steak frites to pasta to Seabass to pork chop. This makes it difficult to say that the restaurant has a "specific point of view". But, with that said, it also makes for a profitable restaurant and a delicious meal so that's a WIN. Service is exceptional, vibes are immaculate! Located in the historic St Vibiana Cathedral - it's truly beautiful.

The ambiance of the restaurant is top tier. Everything about the place gave high end, but super chill vibes. I highly recommend making a reservation for their courtyard area as it has an open roof! The food I think is pretty average. There's nothing that I tried that really blew me out of the water and given their price point, I would expect at least a few things to stand out. They do give free pao de queijo, which is a plus. Overall, I'm glad I visited Redbird, but would I come back purely for the food? Probably not. Would I come back for the atmosphere? Probably for a GNO or something. read more
This restaurant entry was like a secret like you're walking into a speakeasy. Beautiful iron gate greets you at the front door along with very nicely dressed doorman/bouncer. If it wasn't for the valet cart, we would drive by it. Once entered, the lounge is quiet and relaxed with big leather sofa & chairs. Beautiful bar area. Then the main dinning room with glass roof. Amazing. From flatware to tiles, someone took the time to curate this dining experience. Food, dessert first. We were told the dessert chef just joined a few months ago. Omg, they need to keep her!! Chocolatetort was a Reese's peanut butter cup, taken apart, and put together in a pie form Panna cotta oh my God, the stone fruit peaches at the peak of ripeness and the Potta angels whipped it The scallops and weird looking mushroom, awesome pairing Scallops just al dente The hanger stage looks a little rare, but no, it was perfection melted in your mouth cut with a fork and the sauce. It had crack and I swear. Steff zucchini blossoms the best we've had The bartenders: Daniel, Tobin, and servers was just top notch. The presentation of bring new flatware and attention to detail, beyond expectations. So glad DiNE LA brought us to this hidden gem in the city. We'll be back. read more

Every course gets better. Cocktails are mellow and delicious. Appetizers: Avocado salad is well dressed and serves 4. Soup has a Moroccan spice. Scallops are a must have. Perfectly cooked. Main Dishes: Pasta was a good balance of savory and light. Fish was in a cream sauce. Brussels sprouts have a good heat. Steak done beautifully. Service was amazing and staff were great at accommodating dietary restrictions. Restaurant is a little chilly due to open ceiling but very thoughtful in offering blankets. read more
Redbird is a classic LA restaurant that's "soo 2009;" appearing on multiple food lists that include Bestia etc. I had it bookmarked for years and finally had a chance to check it out over the holidays to celebrate just existing. I was worried this was just a basic "new american" spot serving over priced beef tartar and branzino. I was pleasantly surprised especially knowing that a friend loved Redbird. The complimentary Brazilian cheese bread (Pão de queijo) were perfectly cheesy and came with 6. Though we added the parker rolls (12) to make our meal even more carby! The seasoning, the sweet butter that comes with it were perfect We save one roll to sop up our pasta entrees and made sure the servers didn't take away our plates before we had a chance to wipe them clean with our breads. Hiramasai crudo (24) - comes in 6 pieces and is much better enjoyed with a spoon so that you can capture all of the seasoning and sauce. Though, I'd skip this if you're looking for something more unique on the menu since it's very flat and lacked tang or umami. The Chawanmushi (28) blew me out of the water. It included bits of Maine lobster, fried enoki mushroom, charred scallion, sichuan chili oil. It was a highlight especially with the firm custard texture combined with savory miso-like flavor. I would love to try a mom pop or traditional Japanese version of this, but for now Redbird did a good job with this dish; my mouth is watering just thinking about each bite. Creste di Allo (28) was a classic ragu type pasta dish that was comforting. Pasta was firm, but there was no innovation that would justify the price. It's a good supplemental pasta dish with high quality ingredients that most people would be familiar with. Gemelli (30) on the hand was exceptional. The braised goat was perfect and not gamey at all. The bread crumbs added great texture, the poached egg smoothened it out, and the fresno chili added a subtle heat that made the dish complex. This is a must get. It would go well with a red wine because it was rich and earthy. For dessert we got the "halo-halo" (16) which was a terrible interpretation of a popular Filipino dessert. Blood Orange ice cream with calamansi flan - sounds promising, but the calamansi was way too tart and it was a missed opportunity to play with ube, though predictable. It was difficult to finish. And 5% service charge indicated on the bill / receipt. It was a wonderful evening in a beautiful open space. The chairs are a bit low, so people with short torsos would struggle. Luckily they have blankets you can use as boosters. The lady next to me was doing the same. The hosts were friendly and the manager even let us tour the Vibiana where they filmed a scene from "Everything, Everywhere All at Once" and Beyonce's "Black is King" music video. Always a great experience and today was no exception. I took my boyfriend in for brunch to celebrate our 12-year anniversary. I indicated we were celebrating when I made the reservation. The folks at the host station wished us a happy anniversary, as did our server. As she took our drink orders, we explained that we had been coming there since their soft opening and were excited to celebrate with them. She brought us each a small glass of sparkling wine with our cocktails. Neither of us usually drinks wine but we each commented on how nice it was and even finished our servings! She also brought us a complimentary blood orange pana cotta as a dessert. We shared the Maine lobster congee, duck confit chilaquiles, and fried quail and waffles. It was just a bit too much food for me but only barely. Everything was delicious as always and the ambiance is always perfect in such a beautiful space. read more

Just visited for the first time in a while and it's still just as great as I remembered. They conveniently have valet out front since parking downtown can be challenging, especially at night. The staff was super helpful, seating us promptly and checking in just the right amount to make sure we had everything we needed. Food wise it was stellar, we started with the Strawberries & Burrata and the Crudo which is always a must for me. Main course we did the Porterhouse which was enough for the three of us, with a side of really flavorful brussel sprouts. And of course we couldn't leave without dessert, Cherry Pie and a Pistachio Cream Puff to round it all out. We split a bottle of wine and the sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I love dining there because the ceiling of the main room can open to the outside and it really gives great energy to the space. read more

Had brunch here and it did not disappoint! Their dining room/atrium gets amazing lighting. The service was also great! Morning pastries sample: the salted caramel sea salt cinnamon roll and black sesame roll cake were soooo good. Flaky croissant but it was a tad tiny for me Lobster congee: I loved this dish! The chili oil, lobster, corn, green onion.... Yum! Chicken cutlet sandwhich: juicy chicken, bacon, & avocado! Duck confit chilaquiles: I'm not a huge chilaquiles fan but I am a fan of this one! Absolutely yes. We went to Redbird for a birthday celebration on a Friday evening and it was perfection. Their dining room and bars are beautifully and thoughtfully decorated, and I can't get over how much I loved their black leather chairs. Where can I get one?! What we ordered: - everything parker rolls with date butter* - shishito peppers - strawberries & burrata - iced oysters - creste di gallo - bbq smoked tofu* - day boat scallops - bone-in ribeye for two* - brussels sprouts As a party of 5, we may have ordered a tad too much... but we have no regrets whatsoever. Their everything parker rolls with their date butter was divine. I generally don't enjoy bread, but this was a match was made in Heaven. It was a little cloud. Their bbq smoked tofu was incredibly unique and their bone-in ribeye was cooked perfectly. Our server, Francesca (I believe), made our dining experience. She checked in and made sure our dishes came out the way we wanted them to, and made sure we were adequately hydrated. There was never an empty water glass, but most importantly, we were never without a cocktail. Thank you so much for the great experience! Their complimentary pão de queijo was out of this world. It was the best start to our meal, along with our cocktails. We finished our meal with desserts and coffee, and were all extremely satisfied. Loved that they had a valet option. Made it quick and easy to walk in and out before and after our meal. Will definitely be returning! read more
My friends and I came to Redbird for brunch and we all loved it. We came to get the short rib hash, morning pastries, congee, chicken cutlet sandwich, and duck confit chilaquiles. My favorite was the duck confit chilaquiles and morning pastries. The chilaquiles had so much flavor and was delicious. I loved the various morning pastries on the plate. The pastries were so soft and chewy. The other dishes were also really good and tasty. The restaurant was beautiful. They have an indoor and outdoor area. We ate outdoors and I loved it. The ambience was so pretty and nice. This is the perfect place for brunch with girlfriends. The food was so good and service was great. A brunch spot worth checking out!! read more
I came here for an influencer event. The restaurant itself is very nice. Definitely sit outside as there's much more lighting and it is pretty when the sun goes down. The food here is phenomenal. I felt that the scallops were my favorite as they were cooked so perfectly that dessert was also an amazing combo of fruits and warm donuts. The steak was also one of my favorite topped with the mushroom. I wasn't particularly fan of the cheese as it might have been better if it was just mashed potatoes. read more
I've been wanting to dine at Redbird for a long time. I finally went with some friends for a birthday dinner and it is absolutely spectacular. The space is beautiful. There's a nice bar area which is in a separate room from the main dining area. I love the ambience. The restaurant has a high noise level when it's full - which I imagine is probably all of the time. The food is outstanding - from the everything rolls with date butter (my friend said "date butter is the new honey butter" and boy was her right) to the beet salad, to the rib eye with the best onion rings you've ever tasted. We had two scrumptious desserts - the chocolate mousse cake which I think had a lovely cardamom taste to it, and the sticky toffee pudding... yummmm. Our waitress was an absolute dream with her suggestions and taking such good care of us. read more

Redbird is a great restaurant. Aesthetic is tasteful and minimal, cocktail program is well done, the food never disappoints & service has always been good. Food tastes clean, like someone cooked it in their home kitchen, but with better ingredients. Recommending the pappardelle & wild boar. & Definitely get the rum old fashioned read more

What an amazing Father's Day experience. We've been here for dinner (also a 5 night) and were excited to try their brunch. Had to start with a brunch cocktail. The Nogada had the right amount mezcal and spice. Not too sweet. My wife had the Good Morning Vietnam and it exceeded her expectations. There were six of us and everything was great, My picky daughter loved the burger. My pescatarian child love the shrimp and grits. My wife and mother both loved the frittata. Plus we rocked the sides. Pastries, biscuits, bacon and potatoes! Definitely looking forward to coming back soon. read more

Lobster congee was packing with flavors. I can def taste the ginger. Just the congee by itself self reminds me of how my mom makes congee. However with chili oil and few scattered pieces of lobster you lose that nostalgic taste. The pumpkin French toast has more of a consistency of bread pudding. And that's vanilla ice cream I top. Butter and maple syrup on the side. First time I've eaten French toast with ice cream. Overall good warm but very sweet. The modern mimosa is def on point. The taste of citrus. With Prosecco. Very cute atmosphere. read more

Okay, the reservation process was easy since you do it all online. The service was amazing. Everyone was kind and helpful from start to finish. The ambiance is spectacular. The restaurant is beautiful. The chawanmushi was very underwhelming and it left lots of room for improvement. One of my friends said it was jello like. I don't ever want my food to have a jello consistency. The shishito peppers were too salty but the flavor was good. If they could turn it down one notch, it would've been perfect. The California sea bass was really good and cooked really well. The sides were okay. The drinks were excellent and the everything rolls were the highlight of my meal. The bread was the highlight... don't think that's good. The pee wee potatoes aren't worth the 16 or so dollars. I hate to give a poor review, especially since everyone was so friendly... but I would only order the fish alone, the bread rolls and a drink. Let me tell you, my girls and I SPLURGED so we definitely had lots of food here. We used valet to park... I didn't even want to drive around to look for parking. read more

May be the appetizer is so great(4pts), I started to have a high expectation. But the main dishes were not as good as the appetizer. We order the sea-brass (3pts)and lamb belly (1pts). They come at the same time the sea-brass was hot. The lamb belly was cold. I think because they want to serve the customer the main dish at the same time so they need to wait to finish the Sea-bass then they brought it with the lamb belly. My love said maybe the lamb belly is a cold dishes？The good thing about the sea bass is hot and regular. For the deserts, I am speechless, just sweet. My love even don't want to finish it. I understand they put 5% service charge to support the overhead, I have no problem with the charge and I paid 15% tips on top of the food and drink charges but my waitress (3pts)sim unhappy about it. Is this because Red bird is a famous restaurant so we need to pay more tips to make the waitress happy? Can someone educate me how much should we pay in DTLA? So I won't face the awkward situation next time. Btw I was trying the Dine In LA menu, I can tell the restaurant didn't like the discount menu due to the food quality. May be the quality will be better if you order from regular menu? I remember other yelp reviews said this restaurant got Michelin Recommendations is because of the interior not the food..... read more

The location is beautiful well light. The services was great . Our server was very nice and friendly. Helped us with choosing our meals. The food was OK. The rabbit pasty was some what good. The other pasta did not taste good. Over all a solid 8/10. read more

Parking absolutely sucks, and its scary going here at night! But the food makes it so worth it! I especially love the lighting and that its in a repurposed cathedral. The server was extremely courteous and made friendly conversation! I really loved the parker rolls with date butter which were slightly sweet and the beef tartar to start. read more

Wonderful staff and food The staffs were very attentive and quick. The food was amazing as well. Try their baked roll. It comes with date butter which compliments the roll perfectly. We also got the pork chop and the scallops. I preferred the pork chop better. It comes with more things on the side which made the dish more interesting. Scallops were good but a little boring since it was mainly just the scallops and the sauces. Parking: they do have valet but we parked at a near by parking lot for $8 for three hours. I don't believe in street parking in DTLA after dark. It was right around the corner. read more
I actually came here for a wedding dinner(we sat outside) and it was really nice out there. This is a few years back and I thought the food were actually pretty good. I actually just really like the vibes and the atmosphere of Redbird inside and outside. I also came back 2 weeks ago for a Sunday brunch which I thought was also pretty nice. Their menu had some interesting things and I thought for the most part, everything was either ok to good. We got the wagyu burger, short rib hash, congee, biscuits and gravy, and duck confit chilaquiles. I would say the ok ones were the burger and the hash. Although, both good quality ingredients, it was kinda simple. The hash felt like something that could be made at home while the burger(I felt could use some veggies just me maybe but it might make the burger a bit soggy). The fries felt kinda like the in-n-out style. I liked the other 3 a lot more. The congee(as an Asian) was very different but still very tasty and good in its own way. I thought the biscuits and gravy was delicious. The rabbit sausage was good and the biscuit was flakey. I would recommend it. I prob like the Duck Confit the most just because it was all the things I like(not that the other items werent) but it was a delicious item. I would definitely consider coming back read more

Actually discovered Redbird through a credit card reservation promotion which was pretty cool and then came to discover it was on the Michelin Guide, which if you know me, I'm all about the Guide. Coincidentally, I was planning a trip to LA so I snatched the reservation up. We arrived for our reservation and were greeted by the hostess, who walked us to our table, which we booked in the main dining room. The restaurant has two dining rooms including the main and the lounge. The main dining room is incredibly aesthetic with pink seats, plants, and a retractable roof that lets in plenty of natural light. How is the store operating during Covid?
Tables in the three courtyards and in the garden, and very very limited seating in the main dining room. Very well distanced.
Where is the best sitting?
The best sitting definitely has to be REDBIRD GARDEN. It's beautiful greenery, lighting, and feels secluded away from the city.
Can a minor be present at happy hour?
Yes. Happy hour is at any of their dining spaces so it's just like a reg dinner taking place.
What's the parking situation?
There's valet for I think $12 or $15 (sorry couldn't remember) and there's self park if you keep going east on 2nd, past Redbird and South Los Angeles St for half the price.
Is the outdoor area covered in case of rain?
Yes, the roof in the courtyard is retractable so if it is raining the roof will be closed.
