Came here for banquet. Parking is a really big hassle. There's very very few self parking, prob like 15-20 spaces...just guessing. but yeah it's that few. Majority is valet parking and there's no other places surrounding The Reef that you can try to park in. But valet is based on tips so it's up to you. they post a sign saying suggested price is $3.50. If it's a packed day, you have to wait to get parked and get your car, which is so inconvenient. Before I even entered the restaurant, I was enveloped in this lush and lovely entryway with mini bridges and mini waterfalls. Pretty romantic if I do say so myself. I came here for my dad's second bday celebration, and anyone that knows my dad knows that he loves bayside/seaside dining. We came here the view, and wow what a view it was. It also has outdoor dining as well so you can right almost right next to the bay. Everything was beautiful! This would be a great place for a date. The food here was better than I had expected since I have been to similar restaurants. However, two dishes stood out to me here: the seafood pasta and the pineapple rice. The pasta wasn't actually all that special, but I was really feeling a creamy pasta dish that night and it really hit the spot. It wasn't too rich though which is something I usually worry about. The pineapple rice is one of their favorites, and it really is something special. It's fried rice but has a touch of pineapple and bacon. Service was good and attentive. Our server was good with recommendations and entertained most of my dad's lame jokes. I was, however, a little disappointed when he brought out my dad's birthday cake when half the party was in the restroom. I got the Grilled Shrimp and Scallops with Pinapple Bacon Fried Rice. It was delicious. Omg. The portion was big and it was so good that I finished all of it. I was here for fellow Yelp Elite Irene Y.'s wedding and it pretty much doesn't get more beautiful than this with the amazing view of the Long Beach Shoreline on a bright, sunny Socal day =) I enjoyed my salmon with the horseradish sauce and def appreciated the piping hot sourdough bread served throughout the meal. We married and held our reception here last month and it was fantastic! The venue is lovely, with an unbeatable view, and the staff made sure that everything went perfectly smooth. The food was pretty decent--I was nervous after reading some Yelp reviews. The only things I would complain about would be the occasional "old wet" smell, the aged decor, and the fact that I get lost every time I drive there (as did my wedding guests!) The food was not that good for its price. We went for AYCE here at brunch. Wasn't too impressed. First, the way the buffet was set was all over the place... literally. We were set in a private room, and I had to walk all the way to the other side for an omelette. The guy making the omelettes was extremely nice, but the restaurant needs to put him inside the building. We waited so long for the omelettes because the fire on his cooker would go out because of the winds outside. The poor man had a long line! Second, the food was honestly bad. Like, really bad. It was cold, super greasy and SO not worth the money. The only good food was seriously the omelettes. I did enjoy the beverage options, but the rest was bad. 2 stars because of the tall guy making the omelettes was so nice and happy even if the restaurant put him outside in the heat. We were spending our evening at the Queen Mary but needed to eat before going over. Found this place and and we went in without a reservation last night ( New Year's Eve ) and were seated within 10min. at the window with the beautiful waterfront view! We ordered their 3 course meal and WOW!!! My steak was so tender ( I always get mine anywhere well done ) it melted in my mouth! I didn't really need to even use my knife! It was so juicy! A+ The bread was so yummy and my husband ordered the seafood plate. Service was a little slow and I had to get the attention for a water refill. Food was brought out in segments without any rush for us to finish. I even ordered a cup of coffee before leaving. The lady manager came over to ask how everything was and was really nice. We went here for Sunday brunch today. If I could sum it up in one word it would be "disappointment." We've been coming here for brunch for many years. I doubt we will come back again. The quality of the food has deteriorated substantially as has the service. The omelette station was undermanned and painfully slow. The buffet had scrambled eggs that were clumped into an almost solid mass; the bacon was clumped together; burnt sausages; the quasi-cappuccino tasted like plain coffee with syrup added, cloyingly sweet; dessert consisted entirely of cake variations, no pastries at all. The service was poor, which appeared to be due to simply not providing enough staff to cover the area and number of guests. The cost for brunch greatly exceeds the quality of the food and service provided. read more

Some friends wonder why people don't rate a place solely on food, and this is one of those reviews. Food is probably 2 stars, as it's your typical expensive restaurant with very mediocre food that you can buy at a cafeteria, however the view is amazing. I came here for a wedding and the ceremony was at the balcony. Though it was a bit chilly, the view was amazing as it was a clear sky, and there were tons of yachts just lounging there looking as if they're basking in the sunlight. The reception was downstairs, and even still, you can see the amazing view through the windows. What is even more romantic was when the sun was setting, you were still able to see that when you were inside. At night, people were walking out of the reception area to look at the night. Our server Maeve G seemed to be stressed out and always in a rush. She brought the wrong wine to one of the guests. She offered to bring bread to the table but she never did until asked for. She never refill the drinks unless we asked for. She did come back to ask if the food was okay once served, I have to give her credit for that. My friend and I decided to check this place out since it was featured in LA restaurant week. I chose the calamari, pineapple fried rice, and tiramisu. The sauce for the calamari was flavorful and had a nice twist. The pineapple fried rice was a little bland, but the scallops and shrimp were really fresh and tasty. The tiramisu was probably my favorite part of the meal. It was light and not too sweet. The best part was the view. We sat outside and overlook the port adjacent to The Queen Mary. My wife and I had our wedding reception here in December. They were very accommodating. We found enough food items that we liked. The room was beautiful with a great view of downtown. We even had half of the patio. They gave us one wrong appetizer which they did correct. They didn't follow the floorplan that we agreed to. We had to have all of our guests get up from the tables so we could move the room around. All in all, we all had a great time. read more

You have that nice air from the waters and you're allowed viewing of the bridge (that rainbow looking bridge lol sorry I don't know the name) and the sky high buildings of downtown Long Beach across the way. They do take reservations and the decor has a very intimate feel with a touch for romantics =) Their food is decent, nothing too great. Just love the feel of the place .. especially for a date night. SO it took some doing, but I finally got some help from the Yelpers in Long Beach with the name of this restaurant. Even though I couldn't remember the name...it was the ambiance and experience that has stuck with me since my over nighter in Long Beach in February of 07. If you read my last two reviews, you'll see that I'm reliving that over nighter through Yelp right now. Not a bad thing to remember though. The Reef was conveniently located between where our cruise ship was supposed to be docking, and the hotel we were forced to stay at in the meantime. With the words of the Carnival broad "Enjoy your stay in Long Beach, Live it up! Have steak and Lobster...it's on CARNIVAL!" echoing in my head...we did just that. We sought out our steak and lobster and ordered a bottle of bubbly to boot! The lobster was decadent. I remember it being some of if not the best lobster I have ever had! I drizzled lemon from one of those cute little lemon socks...I dipped it in delicious drawn butter...I laughed with the man who was about to become my husband. Sorry if that sounded cheesy but, it was one of the best dinners I have ever had. Our server helped that by doing her best to please us, as we told her we were "already on the honeymoon"...we felt like we were. I will absolutely eat here again when I go back to Long Beach. It was definitely pricey but the views from the patio are too amazing to care...especially with the city all lit up. Very romantic! read more

I have been coming here since I was kid and nothing has changed! I love it! My brother is even thinking of having his wedding here. Our family loves it so much and we are so glad they are still open and offer the same items. We mainly come here for brunch. The food and the views are specular! The service is just okay. I think it is better when you don't sit in the banquet hall. Our server last sunday didn't even bring us our check and half my party left while the other half was waiting to pay so they didn't even know how many people to charge us. I recently visited this restaurant for a family friend's baby shower. It was held in a separate dining area called "The Aloha Room" where our view of the water was gorgeous. The self-parking lot was extremely limited and full causing us to use valet service, but it was okay because the valets were nice. Everyone there wore dressy casual clothes and there was a cozy fireplace/waiting area right off the lobby. Our main course was a large, juicy chunk of salmon that melted in our mouths. It was quite good. For dessert they served a lemony-ice dish, that vaguely reminded me of those frozen lemonade drinks you can purchase at an amusement park. Although your tongue might feel numb after a few spoonfuls, it was tasty. (Check out my photo. :D). We come here annually for Family Christmas Brunch when we are in the area. This year, the layout much better than in previous years. The restaurant itself is on the older side but it still looked nice and inviting inside. The food selections were plentiful and varied. It was so much that I could not get to the omelettes or pasta. Eric and Tiffany in the kitchen were friendly and very attentive to our requests. We especially liked having the crab legs warmed up and topped with their butter/garlic spice blend. The carnitas sopes had a nice spice kick to them. Overall, the service and food were excellent. Our only complaint was the dessert section. The waitress I had was very warm and took her time to explain her recommendations. The food took awhile which surprised me because there was really no on here at this time. The view is to die for. Located right next to the Long Beach harbor it makes a great place for a first date, valentines day, business dinner, wedding, etc etc. They have different rooms for different events and they even cater to weddings outside. It's a bit expensive but definitely worth it! I ordered a blacken salmon which wasn't that great. IT came with a pineapple sauce which was a bit weird to me. Went yester eve the new manager Faviola is making a difference. The venue was the cleanest that I've ever seen it. Food seasoned up to perfection and server David was perfect attentive but not go intrusive...very veryimpressed with the filet migon and lump crab.. lot of veggies and excellent potatoes and sauce...platted perfect...the culinary skills of this place have come up and the value is almost the best in town. We we're able to bring our own wine from home with $20 corkage fee - '01 Regussi Merlot & '01 St. Clement Merlot. The manager came out to open both wines & he asked if he can decant the Regussi. WOW!! That's service. I went with the bf & the man of honor for my birthday - we had an awesome time. We ordered the ahi poke & the sampler apps. The MOH and I had the filet and the boyfriend had the prime rib. The food was 3 stars but the service was 4 stars. The filet was cooked well but just didn't have enough flavor. The veggies were okay but not amazing. The apps were okay but just fell short of amazing. The dilemma do I give this place 3 stars for food or 4 which includes the service? Beautiful view, beautiful location.. Getting to The Reef, I wasn't sure if I was even at the right restaurant or where to enter but there is a sign somewhere in the parking lot. You can eat there, drink in their bar or sit out on their outdoor patio, have a party in one of their ballrooms.. I went to a party there and it's a great venue. I didn't like the women's restroom. It had no ventilation. It was like someone dropped a stink bomb and it festered in there. Throughout four hours at The Reef and using the restroom several times, that smell never died in there. This Champagne Brunch was one of the best ones we have been to in a while. Very reasonably priced, beautiful views, many varieties of food stations to choose from. Customer service is top notch and wouldn't want to forget our waiter AUGIE (for a good time request Augie for your waiter we never stopped laughing). Even the customers were friendly and had smiles on their face. We found out that they are one of the top 100 Sunday Brunches in the country and in our opinion they lived up to it. Where do I start this place is beautiful, the food is amazing, and customer service is awesome!. I don't have one bad thing to say about the reef. My special day was so magical thanks to the amazing view that the reef offers. The wedding went smooth thanks to the staff. The bride room is gorgeous and spacious I had 4 bridesmaids, my mother, 2 flower girls, photographer, and myself in that room and I was still comfortable. This use to be one of my favorite spots. ...Untill last Father's Day! We had reservations for the champagne brunch buffet @ 2 pm. We didn't get seated until 2:55. I also asked to be seated on the deck, instead we were seated down in the dungeon part of the restaurant ! Once I went to go get food at the buffets, #1 they had the food in too many far apart areas even outside on the deck! #2 where I noticed lots of empty seating and employees enjoying the brunch also! Wow! I notice they were running out of food, and they were not replenishing it.
