My siblings and I totally enjoyed this newly renovated restaurant! We were seated at a perfect table with a harbor view! The restaurant itself beautifully decorated with ocean theme very warm. Our server Amanda was an absolute delight attentive and friendly!!!! We had a couple of cocktails and entrees! Everything and I mean everything was absolutely delicious!! Thank you chef and kitchen staff! I recommend making a reservation as the restaurant is not very big. Plenty of Parking spaces too! I so can't wait to go back!

Recently reopening after a long hiatus for brunch, lunch, happy hour, and dinner during weekends, the Reef Restaurant serves up a modern medley of dishes, with a killer view. Originally opening in 1958 on the Pier J peninsula man-made landmass that houses both the Queen Mary and Carnival Cruises port (if one takes a Carnival cruise out of 'Los Angeles', it's really here in Long Beach), the restaurant dining room closed before the pandemic, with the space only being open for private events since then. Our bus from downtown dropped us off a bit early, so as we explored the grounds while waiting for the restaurant to open, we noticed a small wedding ceremony was being performed in an outdoor garden area...so private events are still happening. But the restaurant portion has been closed until now, just reopening last weekend. Current hours are 11:30 - 9:00 pm, Th - Su. We came back around 11:30, and the doors had been opened and staffed for a bit. We put our names down to the friendly hostess, Toni. Others were waiting in the comfortable lounge as well, and we got seated third (first outside) soon after. The waterfront dining views were outstanding, similar to dining at the Queen Mary, with views of the downtown Long Beach skyline. We got to experience a beautiful California June day, with a large umbrella providing shade and ocean breezes providing comfort. George introduced himself as our waiter and took our drink order, and soon after, our food order. It was brunch menu time, which meant some special items were on the menu, one of which we ordered. It wasn't cheap, but my wife and I agreed that the food and drink were fabulous. Bottomless Mimosas ($22) - they didn't require everyone at the table to get it, so got it just for myself, and it was refreshing, not too sweet and cloying, nor too carbonated. I started out with the Dragon Fruit & Watermelon, and loved it, ending up getting two refills. Then tried the passion fruit & tarragon (next best) and the pineapple & Jalapeno (least favorite). All came in a large wine goblet (instead of the traditional flutes), and it was kinda crazy how the smell of the tarragon and the jalapeno (separately) hit your sense of smell as you tilted the glass to your mouth. It makes me appreciate the thinking behind creating a great drink, and this was definitely that....the best bottomless drinks I might have ever had. One in a Melon ($15) - this was my wife's cocktail and she really enjoyed it, slowly sipping it throughout her meal. It also has watermelon in it (seeing a pattern that the Reef uses watermelon really well in their drinks). It was also one of the prettiest drinks I've seen in a while. Half Dozen Chilled Oysters ($18) - one is at the mercy of the supplier, and these Pacific oysters were just OK, though definitely fresh, with a good mignonette sauce. The shucking could have been slightly better, with a shell piece in one of the oysters. Brunch Board for Two ($85) - felt like I was at a buffet, except with freshly prepared, expensive ingredient dishes, shareable for two. The eggs benedicts were OK. The 1/2 lb of snow crab was basically one cluster and was OK quality (had been cleaned of barnacles, etc, but the meat inside had shriveled a bit). The Teriyaki Wagyu Top Sirloin, served medium by choice, was excellent, reminding me of a very well prepared tri-tip, but more tender. The blackened shrimp skewers was also excellent: plump headless shell on shrimp grilled over an open flame. The sides were two pieces of waffles, crisp bacon strips, and two breakfast spuds (kinda like thick preformed hashbrowns) with sour cream. It was enough for the two of us. Service was excellent throughout, with both George (and later Lucille) clearing our plates as soon as we were done, and making sure we were doing OK. Payment is done at the table, with no added surcharges or fees that we could see. Because it wasn't so busy, we were able to enjoy the ambience a bit more, never feeling rushed. My wife and I had a really enjoyable time at the new Reef Restaurant, and hope to be back soon.

Excellent location between the Queen Mary and Hotel Maya with the same great views. I had been there years ago when it was a restaurant. It's now an event space and we were there for a private event for lunch. It's spacious with a big foyer, large bar and a very large banquet room as well as an outdoor patio. They have a 2nd floor but I didn't get a chance to go up. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was good. There's plenty of parking. I would recommend for a private party or small wedding.

Went herw today at 1130 with friends. Its really pretty how the restaurant was redone. We sat by the beautiful big picture window. Met Jonathan the manager, who is very nice. Our sever was also the bartender. Very nice and attractive young lady. Everyone here was friendly. Food: the chargrilled oysters- 7. They were small and just ok. No real flavor. Bowl of clam chowder soup - 9. Thick and full of clams and potatoes. Savory and just yummy. Calamari-9. Crunchy and savory. Combination of Calamari, jalapeños and onions. Aolil sauce ok. Pineapple bowl fried rice with shrimp -7. Flavorful but a bit mushy. Too many peas for my taste. The shrimp was great. Hot honey chicken and waffles-6. Chicken a bit under cooked. Waffle was great. Overall 7 on the food. Would like more breakfast choices for brunch. The bottomless mimosa with cranberry juice was -10. Worth it. Mijito was -10. Will come back for happy hour 3-6pm Thursday-Sunday I believe that's what bartender said. Food not as good as it used to be but it ok.

I loved hosting my daughter's special day at the reef. My experience was outstanding and I received so many compliments from friends and family but most importantly my daughter was extremely happy. Maria S. Is so helpful, kind, informative, patient and reliable. She will support you every step of the way. She really made my experience seamless and easy and took the pressure off from event planning. On the day of the event I received outstanding service from the event captain and his team. They were on top of everything and did not skip a beat. The dinner and drinks were great 10/10. Do not look any further for your private event and reach out to Maria. Thank you so much to the entire Reef team.

If I could rate it a 0 I would. Horrible place. DONT GO. Jonathan the manager and his people refused to let my dad in including calling the police to remove him which was absolutely unnecessary because they weren't being disruptive. My dad and his friend simply showed the proof of their reservation (attached) and the manager kept refusing service without a valid reason. It was not because of clothing because both were dressed professionally in button ups and slacks and it wasn't because they made a late reservation because they'd done it with anticipation. This is past offensive it is also a racist move on their part where a Latino and middle eastern man with accents apparently are not allowed to enter this place without a given reason save for the assumption of 'using the place for parking' . What is that kind of excuse if your potential clients are presenting their reservation to you? It is not only humiliating but downright ridiculous. Do better

For starters, we got the Parker House Rolls, which comes with truffle butter, local citrus honey, and grana padano cheese. These rolls were so fluffy and flavorful. We also ordered the hummus, which was so rich and creamy, and the oysters from the raw bar. For the main, we ordered the Smoked & Glazed Pork Chop, Fish & Chips, and the Wedge salad to share. And let me tell you, that everything was so good. The Smoked & Glazed Pork Chop came with a whole show, where staff would bring out the dish in a smoke-infused glass dome and open the dome when presented on the table so we can smell and see all the smoke. Not only was it beautiful to look at, but it tasted just as beautifully. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the rainbow swiss chard, cheddar grits, candied pecans, and avocado honey helped balance out all the juiciness from the meat. They use haddock fillet for the Fish & Chips, which was fried to perfection. The Wedge Salad is what actually knocked my socks off! This was one of the best wedge salads that I've ever had. It had your key ingredients: iceberg, buttermilk dressing, red onion, crumbled egg, tomato, bacon gastrique, blue cheese, dill, chives - but something about this salad was different! It was so refreshing, flavorful--just everything you want in a dish. We ended the dining experience with their Peach Cobbler Hand Pie, which came with streusel, pistachio crumble, salted caramel, and vanilla ice cream. Can't wait to go back when I'm in the area!

This place popped up, and it was happy hour. So we thought why not. We got lucky and found parking close (rare for that street). And walked over and immediately loved the vibe. We walked in and were greeted immediately, and then brought upstairs. The decor on the way up was awesome. The old school nature, with paintings and abstract vintage pieces.. love. It felt like we were in an old industrial building. We were surprised that it was pretty empty when we got up there. We sat at the bar, and love the decor upstairs too. There's a view of the street from up there as well that's beautiful. The bartender greeted us fairly quickly, and we each ordered a speciality cocktail on their happy hour. Both were delicious. I will say that the prices are a bit steep for me. Very glad we came during the happy hour. But really want to return to try the food and more drinks. Maybe on a special date night out!

Approximately an hour after we arrived, they did turn on a rather large fan, which made it much more comfortable in the heat. Our server, Ryan was very personable and he made some great suggestions We ordered off of the happy hour menu in which we ordered some Bistro fries. They were very crispy and we really enjoyed the sauce that it came with. We both ordered off of the Special Dine LA menu that's is offered twice a year. The Brussels Sprouts were crispy yet tender. They were flavorful tasty. I ordered the Filet Medallions. Unfortunately, I had to send my plate back as the meat was more medium rare, and I asked for medium. I have to say that it did return pretty quick and it was cooked perfectly. The meat was very tender and seasoned well. My husband or the Chicken Milanese and the lemon sauce was delightful For dessert, I ordered the Gateaux chocolat and it was decadent. My husband ordered the butterscotch bread pudding and he loved it. Overall, the food was very tasty and we will come back and try the downstairs dining. We will definitely come back for the rooftop dining when the weather cools down.

We started with appetizers: mussels ($23) and braised lamb belly ($25). For the main course, we ordered a ribeye steak ($69), Scottish salmon ($46), and "dirty pasta" ($36). Drinks included a glass of wine ($17) and a glass of Coke ($4.50). With tax ($23.15) and an "employee benefits" charge ($5.51), the total came to $249.16 before gratuity. The mussels are cooked in a broth of white wine, nduja sausage, tomatoes, onions, lemon juice, and parsley, with a toasted baguette served on the side. I liked the overall taste of the dish, but the mussels were small. The braised lamb belly was an interesting dish, as it was served with kimchi and thin sheets of daikon radish on the side. I assumed the idea was to make a "taco" by combining the three components. I liked it, though the lamb had bit of gaminess which might not appeal to everyone. The ribeye plate comes as steak only, with sides available à la carte. The steak was cooked nicely--juicy and flavorful, though I was a bit surprised by how rich it tasted. The "dirty pasta" features large rigatoni, ground duck, ricotta, and sauce. It was good, and the duck made for an interesting change from the usual beef. As a complete plated meal, I think the Scottish salmon was impressive--both for its visual presentation and the taste of the meal as a whole. The restaurant floor has a split-level design. Upon entering, you'll find a large oval bar surrounded by tables and booths. Step down a level, and there are seats offering views of the Long Beach marina. This area with a view is protected by windows--which is good, as the marine air is often cool and breezy. It seems that nearly all the establishments owned by this restaurant group have names starting with the letter or word "A." When searching online, use the words "a pch restaurant," as "a pch" alone is apparently too vague a search term. A final note to management: I was surprised to see a $5.51 charge for "employee benefit" on our bill. I playfully asked our server what benefits this covered, but they didn't know. They mentioned it could be removed if I objected, but I chose not to. My point is, if you're charging diners, shouldn't your staff be able to explain it? And if the line item can be so easily discharged, maybe you shouldn't be adding it in the first place.

We happened to be in the neighborhood and within very close proximity so I said "phuck it", lets FINALLY give it a try lol. Patio dining is the most popular as they do not have AC inside; however, the tables were too close for my comfort (there were a couple open) so we chose to dine inside and it was not bad in there (temp wise) at all (they have a fan on). We started off with the burrata app (24.00, gulp!) & it came with three rolls (not sure if homemade), the burrata, and what appeared to be a tapenade. It was tasty but definitely not worth the price. For entrees, I ordered the pappardelle (26.00) which came with a pork ragu & bone marrow (BTW, pasta is made fresh in house). BFF ordered some type of pasta with spicy pork sausage (33.00). Both were very tasty with just a tad of spiciness. We did not order any dessert as our server did not offer any as well as not seeing it on the menu (one page menu). I am glad that I finally got to dine in at this place; however, it is for special occasions only (in my book) as it came to 115.00 for 2 (before tip) & that was with no alcoholic beverages (just soda). I did notice on their website that they have "oyster hour" (happy hour with oysters) 6 days a week so I'd definitely like to try that with more reasonable pricing!

During our visit, we wanted to try everything on the menu. The presentation was very nice, the food and the cocktails was delicious, the portions were just right and the prices were reasonable. Booking a reservation was super easy. I reserved a patio table for 6 guests at 6:30pm on a Friday night in the middle of summer! I was easily able to modify it and received text verification of my reservation. I didn't pay a dime to use the online booking system. The ambiance was very nice, semi private and the weather was perfect However, the best part of our evening was our server, Isabella. She was incredibly welcoming, attentive, animated, and knowledgeable. She truly made our night! With much gratitude, Brenda
