Pretty mediocre. The atmosphere is not particularly inviting or memorable. From my seat the Restroom signs were the focal point. There are small paintings spread across large empty spaces. The booths are small. The waitress was pushy like she just wanted to get your order fast. Not open to any discussion of the menu. I had Mongolian Beef. Sauce was nothing to write home about. A few onions accompanied the surprise beef cuts. Surprise was, some were tender and some were grizzle. They served a cup of Miso soup upon arrival which tasted good on a cold night. I ordered tea, it came as a teabag in a cup of hot water, game over. My friends had teriyaki chicken, tempura shrimp (not crispy enough),beef combo soup, a California roll. All were...okay. check this place out during Covid. They definitely have their stuff together everyone is space depart all staff are wearing masks and enforcing customers wearing mask. They provide hand sanitizer. I came down here a couple of nights ago to treat myself after a stressful work day. reHARU Sushi is a fairly new establishment located in the old Denny's building on Dimond Blvd. right next to the Seward Highway. The interior dining room is something to look at upon entering. The high-backed booths, the display of what I think are freshly cut bamboo logs shown in the middle of the dining room along with plenty of tables and chairs spaciously laid out give the place a contemporary, metropolitan feel to it, similar to some of the sushi restaurants I've been to in Florida and southern California. All of the employees greet everyone upon entering including myself. A friendly hostess quickly seated me to a comfortable booth by the windows. I smiled when I recognized the old Denny's design of the window frames and the blinds that were left alone during construction of the restaurant. The menu has a wide and versatile variety of sushi items as well as some Chinese and Korean dishes. It took several minutes to peruse the many selections that were listed, some that were intriguing enough to try in future visits. With regards to sticking to my diet (only to fail miserably at this later on), I decided to go with the Chris Rock (a newly added specialty roll that included a mix of crab, salmon, and tuna garnished with avocado, deep fried shreds of sweet potatoes, and cream cheese with no rice). The customary Miso Soup came immediately after ordering. The soup was hot and delicious. I made quick work of it after just a couple of minutes. The Chris Rock Sushi plate was amazing, the unique combination of crab and salmon along with the sprinkling of fried sweet potatoes, cream cheese, and avocado made for an explosion of flavors. The texture of the crab was very soft so keeping it together with chopsticks was challenging. This was a great way to finish out the work day, but I wasn't done yet. The Oreo Tempura in the dessert section caught my eye. I threw my diet out the window (just for the day) and ordered this to go for a snack later on. The dessert was amazing with a similar taste to the deep-fried Oreos you would find at the State Fair, but with a lightly-breaded tempura batter for a crispy texture. There are so many items to choose from and some that stood out were the Wow Bob (a specialty roll with California shrimp tempura on the inside, fried jalapenos, cream cheese, and spicy tuna layered on the outside), the Hamachi Kama (grilled yellowtail collar), the Vegas (a deep fried roll with crab, avocado, cream cheese, BBQ eel, and scallions), and the Seafood Vegetable entree (sauteed scallops, shrimp, mussels, calamari, and assorted vegetables). I'm hoping to catch a seat at the counter next time to watch the sushi chefs prepare the dishes. read more

First experience with this place was a couple weeks ago ordering a large sushi boat for a small family gathering and it was a hit. Better than expected, larger than expected and made right on time. Since it was good takeout we dined in on a busy Friday night. We were seated right away, and in all we were in and out in an hour despite the amount of food we ordered. At other sushi places I've ordered a specialty cooked roll and was served 4-5 small slices for almost $20. The crazy boy roll and the lovely crab roll were $11-$14 each and ginormous. My husband tried the Incredible Hulk roll and loved it. Also generous in size. We also tried the crab Rangoon and house yakisoba, both very good. I was surprised with the child plate of chicken teriyaki in that it came with the chicken, rice, a serving of vegetables, edamame, and two pieces of crab Rangoon. We'll definitely be back. Visited Reharu Sushi shortly after opening on a weekday. The space looked recently remodeled. It looked and smelled clean. Modern light fixtures hung above mostly booth tables. One large flat screen tv is mounted above the sushi prep station. A lovely and kind waitress worked the floor by herself. She was attentive enough. Reharu has a limited amount of bottled beers and taps. I didn't recall seeing any fun mixed drinks as other sushi spots we frequent, have. We each ordered their sake sampler. The middle of the 3 was the most tolerable. Peach I believe. For food, we got the bulgogi bowl that had great flavor and even better texture. The white rice was cooked perfectly. Next, was a mongolian beef bento that came with a side salad, tempura shrimp and cucumber, and california rolls. Everything in the bento was fantastic. Great flavors to match its great presentation. Lastly, we got a spicy crunch roll and original crunch roll. Both fresh, super flavorful, and easy to bite through. It was our first visit to Reharu Sushi and we left happy and satisfied. read more

PHOENIX Sushi would be appropriate as well! December of 2016, HARU Sushi (across from Dimond Mall) burned to the ground. It was a sad day...until now. Enter reHARU Sushi. Up from the ashes in a newly (high-end) remodeled space between the eyeglasses big box and the pizza buffet, this comfortable facility will take you far from S. Anchorage. The only thing about the physical restaurant that I didn't care for would be the TV above the sushi bar. I don't want to see a tv when I am dining out. My own pet peeve that I will not hold against them. If this is a representation of what dining here will be like, they will soon earn the coveted 5th star for consistency. The staff was incredibly friendly. Every one of them offered an enthusiastic welcome of some type when I walked in the door. It was lunchtime, early, there were two other tables seated when I got there. I was he was immediately offered water and a menu. The server was very attentive and wanted to make sure that she didn't keep me waiting to order. My dish arrived very quickly and she checked on me a couple of times to make sure everything was good. It was. She was at the 50 yard line between overbearing and ignoring. I couldn't be more pleased with the staff and service. The menu is like an encyclopedia of sushi. Everything you can imagine and then some. Wonderful descriptions describing exactly what to expect. Beautiful pictures of many of the dishes. I chose the Chris Rock Roll. The picture on the menu was beautiful. I went ahead and ordered it hoping that I would be served something that resembled the photo on the menu. They nailed it! I was very happy with this delicious dish that is made without rice. I don't have the writing talent to do justice for the lunch that I received. We like real deal raw fish- not rolls, or Americanized "sushi" but the stuff the Japanese eat. We figured that there would be some serious fish in Anchorage, but finding a Japanese place that prepared it in the traditional manner wasn't easy. This place does. We called. The owner was alone. We showed up as the first of a few dinner guests. The place was old skool and "Sam" was the man--he could cook! We had yellowtail cheek and octopus salad with fresh scallion in vinaigrette, fresh sashimi and a few other plates-- all fresh. This was wonderful, cheap, and totally real food. Sam is the man. I love sushi. We have some really good options in Anchorage and now I can add this to the list. The environment is clean and nicely decorated. The staff were very kind and attentive. The sushi was great. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because it took a really long time to come out. We were there for an early dinner in the late afternoon and there wasn't a lot of people. It seemed like it took at least 30 minutes for three rolls to come out. Whenever I'm in the mood for Japanese I make the drive from base here. The restaurants esthetic is clean and modern even down to the presentation of food. The menu caters to many different diet restrictions while still leaving you full and content with your meal. I always get their oysters. The freshness is out of this world! The location can be easily missed because its right off the freeway but is conveniently located right off the free way. Me and my friend come to ReHaru because the food is great and at an amazing price. We come here very frequently, around once a week. We are regulars here and we've been noticing that the service towards us has just been getting worst and worst. We never leave the house without enough money to tip, but the service is barely even satisfactory at this point, we never feel the need to tip. For example they'll come to us and won't say a word, they'll rush us and ask if we're done with our plates so they could take them away, or they'd give us the bill mid meal in hopes that we'll eat faster. We always discuss leaving a tip because we love coming here for the food and we feel bad,, but they always give us a reason to feel rushed, uncomfortable or known that they don't like us as customers. Very impressed with reHaru. Their restaurant, while deceiving from the outside, is actually quite large and beautiful inside. Their staff has always been friendly and accommodating. Their menu offers a larger than most variety of sashimi and sushi rolls. They also offer a nice selection of other traditional Asian dishes. And last but not least... their selection of assorted beer, wines and sake is actually quite good. After eating here a handful of times, I have been pleasantly surprised to find my experience each time is pretty consistent and the food has always been great! read more

Went for Linner (Lunch/Dinner) and the food and service was great!! We had the monkey brains and tempura shrimp for appetizers. Both dishes were fabulous, but the monkey brains took the spotlight!! Crab mix and spicy tuna filled mushroom caps with all sorts of crunchy and delicious sauce on top. I felt like I was in sushi heaven!! Yum!! The tempora shrimp were crispy and just perfect. I had the Haru Haru for a roll. I don't normally get raw fish rolls but this one was bomb!! So so good and the presentation was fantastic!! We also had an order of teriyaki chicken. It was well cooked and had a light but tasty teriyaki sauce. All and all I was absolutely impressed. I don't go out to eat often anymore, so I'm always hesitant to try a new spot. Only because I don't want to waste my calories on something that doesn't pan out. But I'm glad I took a chance!! Service is excellent. I sat at the sushi bar and all of the guys were very friendly. They acknowledged everybody who walked in and out of the restaurant and seemed to genuinely care. The selection of rolls were very good. They even have lo carb rolls, who knew? I was pleasantly surprised. You may be choosing between the place next door and this one. Ok. The food was really super yummy and made for great reheated leftovers the next day. The server and host were very friendly. The two major complaints I have and that made me not give 5 stars was that our dirty dishes sat on our table until we left and as well as everyone else's I noticed in the restaurant. And some tables that where the customers had left already sat the whole time with dirty dishes on them. Your supposed to keep removing them as they are finished with them. And I did use the rest room. It was like a tornado went off in there. Out of toilet paper in all stalls counters were very dirty with soap and water spills and used paper towels and the garbage was overflowing. Tried for the first time. Food is good. Big selection of sushi. Tempura is standard tempura you would find in a Japanese restaurant that has a large variety of foods. Sukiyaki was good and the broth not overly sweet. I wish the coating was a little flakier on the tempura. Nice selection of veggies included in tempura. Kamabocha, hasu,(lotus root), onion, carrot, and shrimp. Nice selection of bottled and draft beer. California roll was good along with the spicy tuna roll. read more

We had a very nice dinner at ReHaru! It's my second time in there since they've re-opened. The new space is very nice inside. There is ample space to sit at the sushi bat, plenty of booths, and tables to hold a large party. The sushi quality was very good. There was a nice variety of selection- fresh ingredients and artfully presented. For two people we had two rolls ( volcano and caterpillar) and pan seared gyoza. The service was fantastic Ysmael was attentive and helpful! We will come back again soon. read more

I was here for a business meeting and I was not sure what to expect first. First, I thought the environment is very modern and cool. Unlike how it looks from the outside, the inside is actually very clean and updated. Good for date nights. It was nice to have the business meeting here since the space was large enough that we felt more private. We didn't have to bump into other ppl or listen to their conversations. Second, the food was not bad! We ordered bento, rolls, udon nabe and seaweed salad. They were not exceedingly great, but met my expectations. The decoration was awesome. Beautiful plating! Third, the service was great. The server was attentive but not annoying. They let us stay for a few hours without disturbing us. The korean owner person at the door greeted us friendly in and out.
